Cannot Uninstall Acrobat 7

Every time I open a PDF with Acrobat 7 it freezes my computer.
I have tried to uninstall it using Add or Remove Programs and it still freezes my computer.
I have also tried to uninstall it in Safe Mode. Same thing happens.
How can I get rid of this program?
I have Windows XP.
Thanks

It is looking for the CD or image that you used for the installation and possibly the CD for the previous version if it was an upgrade.
Instead of trying to remove, why not just repair. An uninstall is usually the last course of action to take.

  • Cannot uninstall Acrobat 9.0 PRO

    Hi,
I installed Acrobat 9 Pro from the CS4 Suite(Web Premuim) pack on Windows XP.
I had to uninstall them, so i used the CS4 Cleanup Script from Adobe website. I did not use the Windows Add/Remove Prorgrams. Due to some issue, the Windows installer program keeps giving me a message saying 'Gathering Information' and it goes away.
After restart i found that the Adobe Acrobat directories have 1.0 GB worth of Files. The desktop icons for Acrobat Pro are restored.
I tried deleting the directories but they come back after a restart. I tried Windows Installer Cleanup script but Acrobat 9 just strikes back!
I even used Revo Uninstaller and Registry cleanup utilities to clean the registry but did not help much.
Now, I cannot use the software because it says that installation has to be repaired. If i try repairing it, nothing happens. I tried re-installing from the pack but the Acrobat Pro option is disabled !
What should i do? How to remove Acrobat Pro 9 and re-install only a few components from my CS4 suite?
    Please help.
    Thanks,

Did you download, install, and run the Windows Install Cleanup Utility to remove Acrobat? I assume that is NOT what you say in the "Windows Installer Cleanup script?"

  • Issues after purchasing CC Photographer, Adobe Acrobat Trial cannot uninstall

CC Photography version, downloaded CC Desktop to Windows 7 64Bit with Lightroom 4 already installed.  Downloaded Adobe Acrobat Pro Trial.  All programs worked in Trial version.  After i signed for membership the following isn't working: most critical - Acrobat is not compatible with Outlook 2003.  Cannot use Word or Excel, had to fix Chrome Shockwave problem in Chrome Admin Editor.  I CANNOT UNINSTALL ACROBAT however i have tried.  Secondarily, I PSCC opens, but I cannot open any menu items, same in Lightroom. I have 4MG Ram and external HD. Need to uninstall Acrobat immediately.  Thanks!
      Trying to keep smiling

Thanks Jeff - Thought that is where i put it..  Getting further on my on.. at least i have PSCC working correctly now.

  • Cannot install Acrobat X Pro. AAM says "installed" - but no sign of the "Launch app" option.

The Adobe Application Manager states Acrobat X Pro is installed but there is no "Launch App" option.
I have succesfully installed Ai, Ps and Id, but Acrobat X Pro is giving me a headache!
The app installed with a warning and 2 errors. (I did not save the text about this event - and I cannot repeat the operation that led me there,)
I can recall some detail from the text:
    • The installer could not remove data from an (old?) file from my Acrobat 9 installation.
    • There was a reference to the installer "lacking permission(s)" for some operation.
    • Also, some reference to my computer not supporting several "requirements".
I have since uninstalled my Acrobat 9 installation, but cannot uninstall Acrobat X Pro. (It is not listed under "Programs & Features".)
I also cannot re-install Acrobat X Pro - the AAM won't let me.
Any ideas? Can I download a trial-copy, then try to install that? Would it be recognized by the AAM?

Thank you, Baljeet - that worked well - However, the now installed Acrobat X Pro version 10,1.1.33 apparently needs a update/patch to upgrade Acrobat to vs. 10.1.3, and after much effort and many forum-suggested fixes, I cannot complete the update. (It "rolls-back" and reports an Error 1310. Error writing to file: C:\Config.Msi\2c4f05.rbf. Verify.......access to that directory.")
I have also received the same ("1310") error, but referencing a lack of sufficient "permission to modify....a certain file". (I can't now recall which file.)
To further complicate matters, my Secunia P.S. Inspector app also reported the need for an update - which did not complete either. It is now perpetually "Waiting for update to complete".
I hope you can solve this problem too! Thanks.

  • Trying to uninstall Acrobat 7 on Mac running OS 10.4

I am doing an uninstall and then a reinstall on all my Adobe Creative Suite products and  I cannot uninstall Acrobat 7.  The message says "The application selected was not a valid Acrobat 7.0 application for this uninstaller.  Please rerun the uninstaller."   Rerunning doesn't work either.  I am running OS 10.4.  How do I get it uninstalled?  Thanks.

Look and see on Adobe website support software downloads if there is an updated un installer.
If there is dowload and run it. If none try the following:
If not do a find file From find and type Acrobat. each of the items that shows in find file click on and drag to Trash.
Repeat the find file procedure until nothing shows up.
Do not remove any pdf's created.
Now see if you can re install.
At one point during  the Acrobat 7 series they went to a complete install of a Brand new package (I believe 7.5)  So you would have a Directory listed as 7.0 and then one as 7.5.
If so you may have to run uninstall on both versions.

  • Cannot uninstall Adobe Acrobat XI Pro: Help Please

Cannot uninstall Adobe Acrobat XI Pro.  Gone to programs and tried to uninstall then message says it is going to do it. Then message prompts come up asking if it can update my software. If I say no action it stops uninstalling. Then if I say yes it goes no further either.
Regret every taken up the trial offer for this programme as I tried using it and message repeatedly appears saying "Acrobat failed to send a DDE command".
Please can someone offer some advice. Thank you.

Try launching acrobat in safe mode, to do so follow the steps:
    a.       Press and hold down shift and double click the acrobat icon and then open a pdf file.
    b.      If it opens without crashing after about 15 seconds, then you have a faulty plug in, locate and remove it from your plug-ins folder.
    c.       To remove plug-ins, you may contact Acrobat Support

  • Cannot uninstall Adobe Acrobat 8 on Window 7 64-bit

I've been running the CS3 suite on windows 7 64-bit for years with no problems. Suddenly, most CS3 applications won't open, and if they do, they lock up. So, I figure no problem, I'll uninstall and then re-install. Wronk!
    (1) I could not deactivate the license
    (2) Acrobat will not uninstall
    (3) I tried to uninstall with no success
    (4) I'm basically stuck with and old suite of expensive applications that do not work
    (5) Adobe's support is worthless and/or nonexistent
    (6) Did I mention that Adobe support sucks!!!
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Tim

    Hi Timothy,
We regret for the inconvenience caused to you!!
As i understand you are facing issues with uninstalling Acrobat... I would recommend you to run Acrobat Cleaner tool on your system and let me know if that helps.
Moreover what exactly did you meant by "suddenly, most CS3 applications won't open, and if they do, they lock up" ??

  • Cannot view PDF files with Reader once we uninstall Acrobat X Professional

Our office recently installed Acrobat X Professional on all of our computers. One of our groups uses Adobe Reader to view documents in a medical records system. The documents are imported into the system via an interface that converts them to PDFs. Before the installation of Acrobat X, the documents were viewable with Adobe Reader. We were told that the medical record system is not compatible with Acrobat X, but it is with Acrobat 9. After we uninstall Acrobat X, the documents are still not viewable with Adobe Reader. We were told to unistall all Adobe products, but we are unable to uninstall the Reader. We are running Window XP Professional SP3. Is there a way to completing uninstall Reader? Or do you have any other suggestions?

Here's my problem, running 10.7.3 and Safari.
I installed the 10.1.3 and have been running in 64 mode. If when viewing a PDF I choose File>Save As... I get a dialog saying "Export as... and upon trying to do so I get an error message that it can't export.
If, however, I choose the little floppy icon in the popup at the bottom I get a "Save a copy as..." and everything works as expected.
If I delete the Adobe plugins as specified in earlier posts, I get the Preview view of PDFs in Safari and Save As works normally.
I tend to like Adobe's viewer because it defaults to a bigger view, otherwise it's apples/oranges, er adobes.

  • Cannot Completely Uninstall Acrobat Reader

I have downloaded and used Acrobat Pro (latest release) in demo mode.  I am running Windows Home Edition 64 bit on my computer.  I let the demo version run out and have uninstalled Acrobat Pro.  Now, when I try to open a PDF doc by double clicking the demo page asking me to register opens.  When I close that pop-up dialogue/window my doc does not open.  So - I guess the question is, how to I get rid of the Buy Now registration pop-up window?
    Sincerely -
    Doyle

Apparently you were using the Trail version of Acrobat, not Reader. I would suggest just installing the Reader to use for reading PDFs, then Acrobat would not try to come up. As to why it did not totally uninstall, I have no idea. It may be you have not rebooted since the uninstall and so you are still working on an old registry (wild guess).

  • Windows 7 crash after attempt to download Reader XI; cannot uninstall or reinstall Reader now

  • Cannot update Acrobat 8.0

    Hi.
I have a problem.  I have installed Adobe CS3 Design Premium on my computer.
(Windows XP SP3, 4GB Ram,250GB HD with 205 free space, Intel Core 2 6600 CPU)
I cannot install the updates for Acrobat.  Everything else updated.  I had a corrupt profile, which may have caused some errors, so I uninstalled and reinstalled CS3 on my current good profile.  Still I cannot update Acrobat 8.0 Professional.  Acrobat Reader is not installed.
I get bootstrapper errors when I do the update process within Acrobat:
(Adobe BootStrapper for chaining multiple patches. has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.)
I tried the .msp files, but they are not recognized by Windows.  (This patch package could not be opened.  Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package).  I have tried the sequential steps and they don't work.  Starting with the first msp file (AcrobatUpd810_efgj_incr.msp)
When I go into Help, About Adobe Acrobat Professional, I get Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.0.0.
    Can anybody help?

Did you go to the update page and manually download/install the updates?
Apply all updates IN NUMBER ORDER

  • Cannot uninstall shockwave 9.0.45.0

I cannot uninstall shockwave 9.0.45.0. I have run the uninstall software as directed and deleted all files in the four locations. But when I check to verify, it finds version 9.0.45.0. However, this version does not appear in control panel/uninstall programs. I have found several npswf32.dll files in the Adobe program file folder, but none related to flash and I am afraid to dlete any associated with Acrobat, etc. I am on Windows 8 and the latest version of Mozilla Firefox (which I also deleted and reinstalled). Firefox will not allow a new version of flash as a plug-in because it is blocking the version 9.0.45 that it detects. So I have no flash.

    Hi Robert,
No need to post duplicate/identical posts.  This creates confusion.  I have deleted your other identical post.
    Please provide the following:
FlashInstall.log file, from C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\.  If you have a 64-bit OS, also provide the file from C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash.The log file(s) may be fairly large.  Please provide the install log file(s) using the instructions here How to share a document.
Screenshot of the files in the C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\ directory.  Again, if this is a 64-bit OS, also provide a screenshot of the files in C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\FlashHow to post a screenshot in the forum
