Cannot uninstall Java2 SDK, SE v1.4.2_02 on win2000 SP4

Hi,
I cannot uninstall Java2 SDK, SE v1.4.2_02 on win2000 SP4. Follows the details.
After opening "control panel", "add remove programs", selecting "java2sdk, SE v1.4.2_02" from the list, and clicking the "remove" button, the following happens:
1) A window appears showing the text "Preparing to remove" ;
2) A second window appears showing "Please wait while Windows configures java2 SDK, SE v1.4.2_02" and "Gathering required information";
3) After some seconds, an error window appears: "Installer terminated prematurely";
4) After clicking an "OK" button a second error windows shows: "Add/Remove program" title and the message "The I/O operation has been aborted, because either a thread exit or an application request".
Any help, please? Some one knows a workaround or how to manually uninstall the j2sdk 1.4.2_02?
Thank you in advance,
Daniel

OK,
Fixed. After passing a ScanDisk to fix possible disk errors, the JSK uninstalled.

  • Getting error message when installing Java 2 SDK SE V1.4.2_02

When I go to install the program Java 2 SDK SE V1.4.2_02, it starts fine, put mid way through the installation I get the following error:
Error 1316.A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file
http://java.sun.com/webapps/download/GetFile/1.4.2_02-b03/windows-i586/Java 2 SDK, SE v1.4.2_02.msi. And the installation just stops.
I am running Windows XP Home, and IE 6.0. Any help would be greatly appreciated.....
    Thanks,
    Bob

This error evidently occurs after an upgrade to XP from a prior Windows version. From what I have read, it is due to some registry problems with the upgrade. You may not be able to do an uninstall, but you can install a new JVM by using the offline install as opposed to an MSI install.
If you are able to get around your uninstall issue, please let us know.
    Thanks...

  • Cannot uninstall jdk1.4 rc on Win2k.

This is an odd one. I've a Win2k machine with jdk1.4 rc installed. When I go to the Add/Remove Programs and hit the Change/Remove button it does not perform the uninstall. Instead it tries to run the installation sequence again. It takes you through the license, installation directory, and then stops with an error accessing Disk 1, which makes sense since it no longer has access to the installation package. The uninstall for the jre1.4 rc does the same thing.
The jdk is installed in "c:\SDKs\jdk". I've another machine with the exact same OS and jdk installation and the uninstall worked just fine, but for some reason it will not work on the first. I cannot uninstall it so that I can install the final version.
Does anyone know why this would happen and how I might fix it? It would seem that the uninstall program is not seeing a critical registry entry telling it that the package is installed. Is there an entry I can manually create that will fix this? Are there directions to manually uninstall the jdk1.4 rc package?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

  • Extension Manager CS6 hangs on "Loading Extensions" and I cannot uninstall it.

    Hello,
I've been having trouble with extension manager cs6 for about two days now, trying to apply patches to it to make it run more smoothly and stop hanging on "Loading Extensions". I have looked through these forums and they suggested that I remove all mxi files from a subfolder called "EM Store", but I cannot find a EM store under the proper location. I also cannot uninstall extension manager from my control panel, as it does not show up. I am just trying to get keyframe caddy for Adobe Flash, but I cannot get it without extension manager which is a giant pain. I've seen other people post both of their log files, but I think that just makes these forums impossible to find any real answers, as the majority of it is the log file. Please help asap, as I need this project that I am doing to be done fairly quickly.
    Short story:
    1. Manager hangs at "Loading Extensions"
    2. Tried patching with updates, did not work
    3. Tried finding the two subfolders, cannot find them at all in proper location
    4. Cannot uninstall it from control panel
    5. Need Help asap

You should delete EM Store and Database, then try again, you can find these folders under following path:
Current Machine's Extension Manager CS6 folder: C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Extension Manager CS6, under this path you should remove "EM Store", "Mxi Flag" and "Configuration" folder.
Current user's Extension Manager CS6 folder:  C:\Users\<your_user_name>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Extension Manager CS6, under this path you should remove "EM Store", "Mxi Flag" and "Configuration" folder.
For the 'AppData' is a hidden folder, you could follow this guider (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/show-hidden-files-in-windows-7/) to unhidden it

  • Running Firefox 4.0 on Windows 7 crashes when opening - no solutions to date work and I cannot uninstall it.

I've tried going through all the solutions I can find including trying unlock my profile (parent.lock), or create a new profile (profile manager crashes too), opening it in safe mode (it won't - still crashes), running it as administrator (also crashes) and I cannot uninstall it (that crashes too). The Crash Reporter/Manager also crashes and locks up so I cannot submit this issue. I'm at a loss.

Hit CTRL+SHIFT+ESC to bring up Windows Task Manager, go to the Processes tab and look for '''firefox.exe''' If you find it, right click it and choose Kill Process.
What I suggest next is to perform a clean installation as follows:
    * Go to [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/fx/?ref=logo Download Firefox 4.0] and download a fresh installation file to the desktop. In this particular case, I'd recommend downloading the file with either IE8 or 9. Choose to save the file to your desktop when you see the prompt.
    * Then go to Add/Remove Programs, scroll down to Mozilla Firefox and remove it, choosing to keep your bookmarks, customizations etc., (don't checkmark the box).
    * Then reboot and delete the folder called Mozilla Firefox at this location: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    * Finally run the installation file you downloaded to the desktop earlier.
Your bookmarks, customizations etc., will be retained in a separate folder and will become available again once the reinstallation completes.
If you prefer to go back to the previous secure version which is 3.6.16, use this link instead: [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html Download Firefox v3.6.16] Otherwise the procedure is the same.

I cannot uninstall iTunes version 10.7.0.21 from my laptop (windows 7), therefore I cannot install the new iTunes version....!
Every time I try to do it, a "message" from the windows installer pops up saying "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable", I try to find the installation package "iTunes.msi" but I can never find it either...!
The funny part is, I can still use this version, but I would like the have the update, which can make my computer much faster than now!
    Can someone help me out??

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for performance issues or compatibility with third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing QuickTime again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • Cannot upgrade iTunes because cannot uninstall itunes 9.0.2.25. Error: The installation source for this product is unavailable. The file c:/... itunes.msi is not a valid installation package for itunes.

I also get the error. "Cannot uninstall the older version of iTunes. Contact your technical support group."
How do I download the itunes.msi for iTunes 9.0.2.25 so that I can remove this phantom and unfunctioning program and then hopefully upgrade to the latest version of iTunes 10.5?
    Thanks for your ideas.

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Cannot uninstall shockwave 9.0.45.0

I cannot uninstall shockwave 9.0.45.0. I have run the uninstall software as directed and deleted all files in the four locations. But when I check to verify, it finds version 9.0.45.0. However, this version does not appear in control panel/uninstall programs. I have found several npswf32.dll files in the Adobe program file folder, but none related to flash and I am afraid to dlete any associated with Acrobat, etc. I am on Windows 8 and the latest version of Mozilla Firefox (which I also deleted and reinstalled). Firefox will not allow a new version of flash as a plug-in because it is blocking the version 9.0.45 that it detects. So I have no flash.

  • Cannot uninstall VMware Server 1.0. from Windows 7

    [pictures attached]
I tried to install VMware Server 1.0.10, but got this message:
Windows requires a digitally signed driver
A recently installed program tried to install an unsigned driver.
This version of Windows requires all drivers to have a valid digital signature.
The driver is unavailable and the program that uses this driver might not work correctly.
Uninstall the program or device that uses this driver and check the
publisher's support website to get a digitally signed driver.
    Driver: VMware bridge driver (64-bit)
    Service: VMware Bridge Protocol
    PROBLEM: cannot uninstall VMware Server
QUESTION: how can I manually uninstall VMware Server from my Windows 7?
    Thanks in advance.

If you're being flooded with this (literally every second) in /var/log/messages I would recommend applying patch 5679560 (if you have access to metalink):
Oct 16 11:05:06 vmerin su(pam_unix)[8725]: session closed for user oracle
Oct 16 11:05:06 vmerin su(pam_unix)[8768]: session opened for user oracle by (uid=0)
This will reduce the load significantly.

    Hi all,

    Thanks!

It seems the installation of some components was not done properly and because of that you haqve all these errors.
You have to delete BPC folder and you have to delete also the follow registry keys:
