Cannot uninstall QT not matter what I try.

Hi all,
I was having video issues with my XP Pro SP2 machine and I tried to uninstall iTunes and QT, but QT will NOT uninstall. iTunes Uninstalled, but when try to uninstall QT, it searches the drives and goes back to the window where you click "uninstall"
If I try to re-install I get a
"Error: - 1603 Fatal error during installation. Consult Windows Installer help (Msi.chm) or MSDN for more information."
I tried several fixes that suggested,
Deleting the folder QT in the Programs folder (I did, didnt help)
Run regedit and delete the QT registrys (I did, didnt help)
and now I am stuck, not QT no iTunes, and now way to fix this.
Anyone get past this ???
Thanks in advance,
Don

I tried all the above...
I deleted all the files from the windows/temp directory, still wont uninstall..
I ran the windows uninstaller installer (isn't that an oxymoron??, but this is a windows machine).. still wont uninstall...
There is no quicktime, apple or itunes directories in the program files directory...
I run advanced systems optimizer and cleaned my registry, no quicktime listed.
I ran hijack this, no quicktime listed...
HHHHHEEEEEELLLLLLLLPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone have a laser I can borrow to surgically remove this pain in the .......
Thanks,
Don

  • Excel (Office 2010 64 bit) will not connect to Oracle DB not matter what I try

    Hello Everyone,
I started a new role that requires me to interact with an Oracle DB using Excel.  Currently I have both the 32 bit and 64 bit Oracle clients installed on my Windows 7 PC.
Firstly I can TNSPing the database I need to connect to, I can also connect using SQLPlus to the desired database, I can even connect using TOAD.
No matter what I try I cannot connect using Excel VBA (Office 2010 64 bit).
The process below used to work for me in a different location, now the objDatabase always is returned "Empty"
    Set objSession = CreateObject("OracleInProcServer.XOraSession")
    Set objDataBase = objSession.OpenDatabase("database server", "user name/passsword", 0&)
I am not even able to set up a simple ODBC connection working.  I get a error "ORA-12557: TNS:protocol adapter not loadable."
When using a ADODB connection I get this error. Run time error '-2147467259 (80004005)':
[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and default driver specified.
I have place the TNSNames file in both Oracle Home's
I have even reinstalled Office 2010.

    Hi,
The 12577 error (12557: TNS:protocol adapter not loadable) is related to Windows Environment or Oracle Home PATH because sqlplus command works smoothly when I execute it inside ORACLE_HOME\bin.
There are two solutions to this issue:
    1. Put the Oracle DB Home in front of the other paths in the PATH environment variable.
    2. Remove ORACLE_HOME From environment Variable and re-boot PC

  • I cannot install itunes no matter what I try, I have just purchased the iphone4 and I try to install the new itunes 10.5 but I keep receiving an error message saying that the installation could not be completed please try again.

I have deleted files/folders like it tells you too here, but nothing seems to work.
    Can anyone help?
    Thank you

right click on the setup file
    run as administrator
also try compatibility mode as winxp sp3
    also try rebooting windows.
if all fails still, run ccleaner, clean your pc of junk files, scan registry for errors and spyware while your at it.
can you install another app? meaning will it install anything else or is it just itunes that wont install?
are you logged in as an admin?

  • Login screen stays not matter what I try

So basically I've been having poblems with my macbook pro. Recently one of my fans gave out and I've been running low on disk space (57 gb left). I've been watching the fan with fan control and it hasn't been overheating. I just wanted to finish out the semester before bringing in my computer because I can't not have it for a few weeks if it does have to get repaired. So today I bought an external hard drive and attempted to connect it to my computer and midway through the installation proccess my computer froze. I turned it off, which I now realize probably wasn't the greatest idea, and now when I try and login after turning my computer on I get redirected to the login screen no matter how many times I put in my password. It seems to accept my password, but returns me to the login screen anyway. I can login to guest account just fine, my personal account is giving me trouble. Is my computer destroyed? Is there any hope?

    I tried all the above...

  • HT4623 My iPad refuses to acknowledge any updates beyond 5.1.1! I cannot update it no matter what I try. HELP!

During a recent "***?!" situation, and the resultant complete restore to factory default, my husband's iPad will not update!
Fast forward a few weeks when we get our new iMac and though we were instructed to make different users to allow each of us to use our different devices, we still cannot update his. While my iPad2 updates flawlessly, my husband's refuses to acknowledge there is even an update past the 5.1.1! He's frustrated as you all likely know, apps are beginning to require that the pad is updated as well. I'm feeling some guilt here because mine is working.
    Please...help me alleviate my guilt!!

What model iPad does he have ? If it's a first gen iPad then 5.1.1 is the highest version that it supports

I have just updated my iTunes to 11.1.3. I followed all correct steps, restarted my computer etc but now I cannot open iTunes not matter what I try and do.
Very frustrating. Have read the trouble shooting info on Apple website but nothing has worked.
Someone please help. I cannot access any of my music.

Open Finder. Go to the "Go" menu in the menu bar. Press and hold Control and click on Library. Go to "Preferences". Find a file named, "com.apple.iTunes.plist" and delete that file. This won't delete your iTunes content. It will reset iTunes. Try it again.

    Hi Demo,
Yes, I have not made myself clear, I apologise.
I have tried downloading apps from itunes in order to set up a game for my son, when I go to click on a link, be this in itunes, or on the web, Safari revolts back informing the address is invalid. I read by coping a link and pasting into the URL, this would do it, but not so.
My goal then, is to install Minecraft for my son, I would then download an app to allow this but I am unable to get this far due to Safari insulting the address I ask it to go to
    The iPad is first generation
OS 5.1.1 Software up to date.
Thank you in advance for your time

    Error 1604
This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
    When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
    Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.
    Error 1600, 1601, 1602
Follow the steps listed above for Error 1604. This error may also be resolved by disabling, deactivating, or uninstalling third-party security, antivirus, and firewall software. See steps in this article for details on troubleshooting security software.

My Mavericks upgrade crashed my hard drive and I had to reinstall Mountain Lion.  Now I cannot get any of the apps that I purchased to download.  The icons on the launchpad just say "waiting" no matter what I try.  My app store ID is fine.  What do I do?

Are you now using a different username from the one you used prior to migrating? If so that is the reason for the problem. You might, then, give this a try:
    To fix Home folder permissions
Open the Terminal application in the Utilities folder.  At the command line prompt enter or paste the following command line:
    sudo chown -R `id -un`:`id -gn` ~
Press RETURN.  You will be prompted to enter your admin password which will not be echoed.

  • No matter what I try, cannot add bookmarks

I have followed all the troubleshooting tips related to "lost" bookmarks, "unable to add bookmark," reset the toolbar," and no matter what I try (click on star, click on "bookmark this page") I cannot get the new download of firefox to add bookmarks. When I click on "Show All Bookmarks" nothing appears. The "Library" frame is totally blank.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

  • I NEED DESPERATE HELP! ADWARE THAT DOES NOT GO AWAY NO MATTER WHAT I TRY

So I was downloading something to my computer and, of course, I got stuck with that Only Search thing and no matter what I try it DOES NOT GO AWAY. I tried turning off my extensions, I tried switching networks, I tried resetting safari. Deleting my history. Every. Single. Thing.
    And nothing works.
Pleas please PLEASE someone help me with getting rid of this I HATE having an adware.

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
You may have installed the "VSearch" trojan. Remove it as follows.
Malware is always changing to get around the defenses against it. These instructions are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data before proceeding.
    Step 1
From the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including any that have the word "Spigot," "Trovi," or "Conduit" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
Reset the home page and default search engine in all the browsers, if it was changed.
    Step 2
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.vsearch.agent.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "com.vsearch.agent.plist" selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
Repeat with each of these lines:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.daemon.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.helper.plist
Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Then delete the following items in the same way:
    /Library/Application Support/VSearch
    /System/Library/Frameworks/VSearch.framework
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ConduitNPAPIPlugin.plugin
Some of these items may be absent, in which case you'll get a message that the file can't be found. Skip that item and go on to the next one.
The problem may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." That's the name of a legitimate free movie player, but the name is also used fraudulently to distribute VSearch. If there is an item with that name in the Applications folder, delete it, and if you wish, replace it with the genuine article from mplayerx.org.
This trojan is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the Internet criminal behind VSearch has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
