Cannot uninstall/reinstall drivers, Audigy 2

Ok, I got myself into a fix this time, I suppose. I get sound from my speakers, but the problem is, I am unable to remove the drivers from my Audigy 2 ZS sound card. When I installed the card, i just installed the basics only, that is, I installed only the drivers. Later, I went to try and install my THX console, EAX, etc, and the installation program terminates. From my Add/Remove programs window, i can remove Media Source Go!, however, but it wont let me remove the "Audigy 2 ZS" entry from that window.
I put the driver disc that came with the sound card in my CD rom and started it up. When the option menu popped up, i clicked the "install" button for the auidgy 2 drivers. After this, a box pops up and says "Modify, Repair, Remove" and i can click one of them. I click the "remove" button, a confirmation box pops up asking me if i really want to, I click yes, the removal process starts, but then another box pops up which says:
Unhandled Exception
Error Number: 0x8004020
Description: An event was unable to invoke any of the subscribers
Setup will now terminate
So, from here, there is no way for me to uninstall, or reinstall the drivers. Ive deleted all the Creative folders from my hard dri've, then use registry mechanic to go through and delete any leftover entries that may be in my registry, but I still cannot get this to work.
Would appreciate it if someone had an answer.

any ideas anyone? i've tried removing it in safe mode, even tried a driver cleaner program to maybe get rid of some old drivers. nothing seems to be working here.

  • Cannot uninstall, reinstall or use itunes!!

I have a pc using windows 8 (I believe).  Have used and downloaded music to an IPOD in the past.  But lately I cannot get itunes to open up.  I just hooked up an apple tv box and trying to connect to itunes, but everytime I try to open, uninstall (to reinstall, which it was suggested I do) it gives a message that it cannot locate 'itunes.msi'.  I have searched in program files, etc... and cannot locate it, and therefore cannot try to uninstall/reinstall.  What do I do?  I am not very savy on the computer.  Thanks a million!!

    Hi youngbloodmary,
Have you been using the steps in the following article to help you uninstall iTunes?
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923
Especially take note that these items need to be uninstalled in a specific order:
    1. Remove iTunes and related components from the Control Panel
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Have a good one!

  • Cannot uninstall, reinstall Firefox in Win7

Firefox has been running fine for years (currently 3.6) but then would not load, with error message FF already running. Reboot allowed FF to open, but subsequently after closing net traffic running at max DSL assigned rate. Ran AV scan--nothing, Ran system restore (twice) without effect.
Managed uninstall (after reboot) but could not successfully re-install any version of FF3. Saved all default-profile files to temp folder to copy back to new profile. This did not work. Last installation attempt FF setup did not create profile folder
When FF installed but not opening, there are two iterations of firefox.exe running as system processes. I would very much like to get this working--I will not use IE, and am not wild about Google Chrome.

You are definitely not alone. There are several threads with what appears to be this same, Catch-22 problem. Uninstall won't allow uninstallation for a clean reinstall because "a copy is running", but the alleged copy cannot be found. Ghosts. Voodoo. I checked the profile.ini file and it seems correct; this has been suggested but is not the answer, not for me anyway.

  • Cannot Uninstall/Reinstall QuickTime On My Mac

I upgraded to the latest version of QuickTime and it caused a small problem. I did what the Apple Store told me to do as far as throwing it in the trash and then downloading the previous version that I had (7.2) Unfortunately, it won't let me reinstall that older version because it says that I already have a newer version on my Mac. However I can't find any version and if I click on the QuickTime icon that never disappeared after I trashed the program, it says it isn't there (which would make sense since I trashed it) ...HELP!!! How can I totally get QuickTime off my Mac and then reinstall the previous version?

Having the same prob reinstalling QT7.2 ('already newer version' etc.), but don't have the uninstall feature of 10.4/Tiger available. Does QT write a hidden file somewhere I can trash and make things all more better?
Have Tiger on my other DA-G4 and G5 Dual, but upgrading is out of the question on this, my work machine, as I'd have to upgrade the ProTools cards too - about $10k from what I'm told.
The problem appeared immediately after installation of the Nov11th QT7.3/iTunes update. My 10.3.9 ProTools G4 gets most of the way through the QuicKeys X3 v3.11 startup, then the rainbow spinner pops up and 'Application Not Responding' shows in the 'CMD-Shift-ESC' window.
Have tried reinstalling QuicKeys, preceeded by a drive search for word/letter combinations using the Finder search [i.e. no hidden file searches], but no luck. Even went with the default shortcuts just in case one of mine was corrupted but no difference there.
    TIA,
    Bruce

I cannot get premiere elements 10 to launch.  Restarted, uninstalled, reinstalled.  Won't launch

My recommendation would be to contact Adobe, since they have the ability to walk you through some troubleshooting steps. But it looks like they've already thrown it to us!
    1) Have you manually gone to Windows Update and ensured you have even the non-critical updates (which can include important drivers)?
    2) Have you manually gone to the ATI or nVidia sites and ensured you have the latest drivers for your graphics card?
    3) Have you cleaned your temp files and defragmented your drive(s)?
    4) Have you ensured that the program's licensing has not corrupted? http://forums.adobe.com/thread/542377
Finally, you say the program won't launch. At what point does it fail? Do you get a Welcome Screen? Does it only fail when you try to open yesterday's project or does it also fail if you try to start a new project?
Another other details you can provide could also be helpful including: How fast your processor is, how much RAM you have, how much free, clean defragmented space is on your hard drive(s) and if you are editing on your C drive or if you have your media and project files on another drive.

Cannot uninstall MediaSource software from XP system, get message (in control panel>add/remove programs): "An Installation Support File Could Not Be Installed. The system cannot find the file specified." Have tried re-installing the software, but to no avail.
Also, not sure if this is worth mentioning, but the Audigy 2 card (and software) that I have came with my Dell system.

I am getting the exact same error when I try to remove Creative MediaSource and Creative System Information from XP Add/Remove Programs ...
I am using an Audigy 2 ZS (retail) and have installed the updated drivers, yet I get the message that I cannot uninstall prior versions because of 'missing files'.
Updating the drivers and software SHOULD remove any prior installations. However, as a programmer, I understand how difficult it is to plan for every contingency.
It would be nice to be able to totally remove all vestiges of the software and driver before installing new drivers.
Redundant out-of-date software leads to more memory leaks than poor programming.

  • Cannot uninstall or reinstall Adobe Air on XP - tried everything

I cannot uninstall or reinstall Adobe Air and now Pandora is not working. If I click the Air installer it says Air is already installed but the Pandora app says I need to install Air. If I look in add/remove programs it is not listed. I have tried the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and the Microsoft Fix it but Air does not show up in them either. I am running XP SP3.              Thanks, Lance

Regarding error 1606 - have a look at this article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/886549/.
If you still cannot uninstall Adobe Reader, use the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to remove it.  (But I recently heard of problems when using the cleanup tool if Office 2007 is installed.)
After removing Adobe Reader, download http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.3/enu/AdbeRdr930_en_US.msi, save it to disk, then close all browser windows and run the downloaded installer.

  • HT1923 I cannot uninstall an old Bonjoure component from programs, therefore, I cannont reinstall Itunes.

I am trying to reinstall Itunes but I get a message indicating that the OLD "Bonjoure" component must be uninstalled and I cannot uninstall it. Therefore, I am being prevented from reinstalling Itunes....I have already uninstalled all the other components....also, the old Itunes installations are still visible in my programs with a blank book as an icon.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

Subject: Cannot uninstall and then reinstall Adobe Air
I have a similar problem. AdobeAir for me is associated with BBC iPlayer. Recently it told me of an update but then said I needed administrator permission. The computer is my own and I am the administrator. I have tried to uninstall via Control Panel but I cannot do that either without administrator permission. My platform in Windows XP. I have also downloaded a new version of Adobe Air from the website and tried installing that but again it asks for administrator permission. Has anyone any idea how to get around this?

  • Win XP-"your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible". I have uninstalled & reinstalled 3 times. No success. Help!

Today, Firefox wouldn't open properly. I got a msg about opening in safe mode or another option. My XP system froze so I closed Firefox down through Task Manager. When I tried to reopen I got the ..profile can't be loaded message. I uninstalled & reinstalled Firefox and still received the ...profile can't be loaded message and I'm unable to open Firefox. I repeated the uninstall/reinstall 3 times, without success. Same message appears.
I found my profile folder in my system but I don't know what to do with it. How do I tell Firefox where to look for the folder when I can't even open Firefox? Do I copy & move it somewhere else? Should I just delete it all together and do another uninstall/reinstall of Firefox?
I would hate to have to use IE. I use a crappy old Dell Dimension with a Pentium 4 and, until today, I was running Firefox for 18 months. Please help. I know a bit about computers but I'm nowhere near being a techy person.

Try to delete the profiles.ini file, so Firefox will try to make a new one.
    To do so:
    1. Click on Start > Run... (or press Win key + R)
    2. Type %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox
    3. Press OK.
    4. Delete the profiles.ini file or rename it to any other name.
    5. Try to boot Firefox again.
'''Warning: if you delete profiles.ini file a new profile will be made. You will lose all your themes, extensions, preferences, bookmarks, history and navigation data.'''
You can try also to perform a disk check to make sure files are not corrupted. To do so, open a command line and type chkdsk X: /F /R where X: is the letter of the drive where Firefox is installed. In the case you're asked to reboot, do it.
In the case this doesn't work, please leave us feedack, and we'll find out another possible solution.

  • Have downloaded 2014, installed and uninstalled, reinstalled as instructed, but cannot open.  Get an Error Code 5

I am in a bind, here... have installed Muse 2014... I've done everything as instructed, including un-installing, installing, uninstalling and re-installing.  Both times of the install, noticed there were two different malwares attached.  I would just like to have good old Muse back so I can complete my project and move on.  Can get no help with chat; Phone tech won't help, they've directed me here.
    Hope someone can help me.

    Hi Jeff,
Just reported to Zak with many thanks, the fact that turning off the
Malware Detector then downloading Muse 2014, worked like a sweet song!
Re-upped the Malware Detector as soon as Muse opened.  It was GLORIOUS.
You may have thought it was a real virus, as your Webroot certainly did (I
too, have Webroot) but it's not an actual virus or malware.  Webroot just
thinks it is and thinking that, is programmed to take care of it and hence,
your installation is corrupted.  I've done this uninstall, reinstall at
least 4 times, rebooting and trying to open to the point of utter
frustration.  To get a resolution with Adobe, I tried 'chat', phone and
finally was turned on to the forum.  Zak knows what he's talking about.  I
    HAVE MUSE!!!!
    Good luck,
    Ann --

  • Cannot Install This Hardware (audigy 2 zs gam

i have a Sony vaio pcv-rx650, xp home sp2, plenty of pci slots, updated chipset(motherboard), updated bios, and every other update i can find find on sony /microsoft support. yet from the first time i tried to install my sound card following the instructions i have Ben getting the same two basic errors.
the instructions say to install the soundcard, turn on computer, cancel "hardware update wizard", insert disc and follow instructions.
. when canceling the update wizard it tries to install the card anyways. not once but three times: Multimedia Audio Controller, IEEE 394 Controller, and PCI Input Device. at the end of which it says "Problem with hardware cannot install". alright no problem I'm not done with the instructions but it didn't say anything about this.
    2. I go through the lengthy driver software install only to receive an error with driver install. it reads"Cannot Install This Hardware. there was a problem installing this hardware: Multimedia Audio Controller. An error occurred during the installation of the device. The Data Is Invalid" this little phrase has become the bane of my existence.
Naturally i seek out alternati'ves. i uninstall every last reference to software i can find. after talking by e-mail with the support people i tried the CTZAPXX.exe method using msconfig during to avoid conflicts....
Now i have tried this method with drivers that shipped with the card i have also tried it with the web update drivers even the new one that just came out that combine the two old ones. i have even tried a whole new card just in case it was broken. i have searched all over sony's web site for anyone else that is having this problem and found no one. i have gone into the bios and disabled the onboard soundcard and all non essential ports. i have even tried toggling every setting that the knowledge base suggested(that i could find). yet everytime its the same. new hardware is detected multimedia, IEEE, PCI input all three. and always the same error exclamations in device manager before i can even begin to install the drivers. when i try to install the card using hardware wizard it recognizes it as a SB Audigy sound card but when the drivers are finished installing the same error comes up "the data is invalid".
why does this keep happening. i have never had this much trouble with any hardware on any computer ever. this is more frustrating than i can express in an e-mail. its been months now. i really want my audigy obviously. but i am at an impasse.

I've the same problem here: "Data Is Invalid"
I've spent -read wasted- an inordinate number of hours troubleshooting this.
So far, installing the Audigy 2 ZS is impossible for me on WinXP Pro SP2.
What have I attempted so far?
    * Clean install of OS w/SP2 with and without soundcard in a PCI slot.
    * Tried all PCI slots.
    * Installed downloadable drivers, in correct order.
    * Installed from CD, "drivers only" AND full install of everything under the ZS category.
    * Tried the PNPREG.EXE -l business... nada.
    * Onboard audio disabled in BIOS.
    * BIOS told that OS was and was NOT PnP.
    * Uninstall/reinstall of drivers in "Normal" Windows and Safe Mode.
    * Device manager driver update with both CD and extracted downloaded drivers.
    * CTZAPXX.exe on both install and uninstall modes.
Every time, the install process chokes when it gets to (WDM) WDMAUD.DRV
Still the Device Manager bang sits there on "Multimedia Audio Controller". Searches on MS Technet with combination of keywords Audigy, driver, error and SP2 yield nothing of use.
I DID find a way to install the card- Only have SPa installed on Windows.
This is unacceptable and it is not justified not having SP2 installed just because of one lousy driver for an audio card.
I believe my only hope of success is to install, again, Windows with SPa only and ensure the card works... then install the SP2 package.
Assistance would be _greatly_ appreciated. All drivers on computer are current and official, and BIOS is current. No overclocking either. I'm not really interested in selling this audio card, but...
    Best regards-
