Cannot uninstall VMware Server 1.0. from Windows 7

[pictures attached]
I tried to install VMware Server 1.0.10, but got this message:
Windows requires a digitally signed driver
A recently installed program tried to install an unsigned driver.
This version of Windows requires all drivers to have a valid digital signature.
The driver is unavailable and the program that uses this driver might not work correctly.
Uninstall the program or device that uses this driver and check the
publisher's support website to get a digitally signed driver.
Driver: VMware bridge driver (64-bit)
Service: VMware Bridge Protocol
PROBLEM: cannot uninstall VMware Server
QUESTION: how can I manually uninstall VMware Server from my Windows 7?
Thanks in advance.

If you're being flooded with this (literally every second) in /var/log/messages I would recommend applying patch 5679560 (if you have access to metalink):
Oct 16 11:05:06 vmerin su(pam_unix)[8725]: session closed for user oracle
Oct 16 11:05:06 vmerin su(pam_unix)[8768]: session opened for user oracle by (uid=0)
This will reduce the load significantly.

I can't conntect or browse to any shares on a 2012 server from a Windows 8.1 client. I can connect from Windows 7 to server 2012. And from Windows 8.1 I can connect to 2008 servers. Is this a new security feature/setting on Windows 8.1 or on Server 2012?

    Hi Spetroski,
Based on your description, I’m a little confused with your question. Please let me confirm something more.
Is it in a domain environment? Did you mean you type the share path in
Run, and then access share? If so, please check if use server’s IP address to access, will the same result?
If I misunderstood the connection way, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
Please confirm which following scenario is similar with current state of this issue.
When use Windows 8.1, you can connect to server 2012. However, can’t browse and access all shares that host in server 2012.
Can’t even connect to server 2012, when use Windows 8.1.
If none, please feel free to let me know some details.

  • Cannot uninstall sql server 2012 on Windows 7

This is the error a co-worker gets when trying to uninstall SQL Server 2012. She is running Windows 7 Professional
Service Pack 1, 64 bit OS. She had SQL 2008 installed and then installed 2012 Enterprise as well, because she needed it for a project. The problem is we don't have a license for local instances of Enterprise, so we need to install it. However,
2012 Setup is telling us we don't have the minimum requirements to *install* 2012. Which leads to some interesting questions:
    1) Why does the 2012 installer allow you to install but not uninstall when you don't meet system requirements?
    2) How does that make any sense?
    3) Does she really need to install more software to be able to uninstall? Since SP1 is already installed, what would that be?
    Thanks!
    Joe

    Hello,
In theory, if Windows 7 has SP1 then it is compatible with SQL Server 2012.
Please try to use the procedure explained on the following article:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143412.aspx
If that article does not help, please perform the following steps to manually uninstall SQL Server 2012:
    1. Uninstall all SQL Server 2012 components you can using Control Panel -> Programs and Features
    2. Backup the registry.
    3. Delete the following keys in regedit:
    --HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server
    --HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer
    4. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall and delete all the sub-keys referencing SQL Server.
    5. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services and delete all the keys referencing SQL Server.
    6. Rename all the SQL Server folders in the computer like
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server and subfolders.
    Hope this helps.

  • Cannot uninstall runbook server

I have an Orchestrator environment that has a dud of a runbook server. I cannot deploy integration packs to it which means i cant run runbooks from it. I also cannot uninstall the runbook server. Well, if I am on the server i can uninstall it from ARP, but
I should be able to do it from the Deployment Manager. I get an error saying "Failed to uninstall...". I did There is an obvious communication issue between my management server and runbook server. I can ping and I've played with the firewall; I
turned it off and tried uninstalling and deploying IPs. I think its more of a trust issue which brings me to my one and only event to go on:
Source: Security Kerberos.  Event ID: 4
"The Kerberos client received a KRB_AP_ERR_MODIFIED error from the server
<<service account>>. The target name used was HOST/<<server>com. This indicates that the target server failed to decrypt the ticket provided by the client. This can occur when the target server principal name (SPN) is registered
on an account other than the account the target service is using. Please ensure that the target SPN is registered on, and only registered on, the account used by the server. This error can also happen when the target service is using a different password for
the target service account than what the Kerberos Key Distribution Center (KDC) has for the target service account. Please ensure that the service on the server and the KDC are both updated to use the current password. If the server name is not fully qualified,
and the target domain (domain.COM) is different from the client domain (domain.COM), check if there are identically named server accounts in these two domains, or use the fully-qualified name to identify the server."
In the first line the service account is in place where the error indicates the server should be....so thats strange. Why would it be looking for a server name but accidentally have the service account?
Also, I did uninstall Orchestrator from ARP on the runbook server, but it is still in the deployment manager and runbooks will still try to run from it unless I override in the runbook properties. So I can do that, but I'm not sure how to clean up afterwards
and get it all out of the management server properties. Which means i cant re-install it.
    I tried
    this and it didn't work.
    Ideas?
    Thanks.
    - Slow is smooth and smooth is fast.

    Hi,
Ok,then I would un-install from ARP (Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel).
If you tried removing the Runbook Server with the SQl Statement mentioned in http://blogs.technet.com/b/orchestrator/archive/2012/06/04/removing-inaccessible-computers-from-deployment-manager.aspx
and you don not have un-installed or stoppped the Runbook Server it will register itself again ...
Additionally DELETE FROM OBJECTS where Name = 'OLD-SERVER'  is needed acoording to the blog comments.
The Runbook Servers take the Runbooks to start them. Therefor you don't need to specify this in the Runbook properties if a  Server is off-line.
    Good Luck!

  • Manage Server 2012 Backups from Windows 8.1

    Hello,
I am trying to find out if it is possible to manage server 2012 backups from a windows 8.1 workstation via GUI or is the CLI the only option?
I found a few articles online that mention to use a computer management console > storage > backup (but from what I know it only works if you're connecting from a 2012 server itself)
    Thank you in advance!

    Hi,
We cannot manage server 2012 backups from a windows 8.1 workstation. Ye may need to use Remote Desktop Connection to access server 2012 from windows 8.1 workstation. In additional, we could manage server 2012 essential backups using dashboard on Windows
    8.1 workstation.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • SharePoint 2013 Server OS upgrade from Windows 2008 R2 to Windows 2012 R2

Is it possible to have SharePoint 2013 farm to have mixed version of OS (Windows 2008 R2 and Windows 2012 R2).
We have a request to upgrade our farm servers from WIN 2008 R2 to Win 2012 R2. We have 5 servers in farm -
2 App servers - running with Central Admin, Service Applications, User Profile
3 Web Front End Servers- running web application, search and workflow manager
the database layer is separate on sql 2012 R2
We want to upgrade OS from windows 2008 R2 to windows 2012 R2 and SQL to SQL 2014.
What will be right approach to do OS upgrade in above scenario to minimize the impact of downtime.
May be add windows 2012 based servers in farm one by one and replace the windows 2008 R2 based servers from server.
    Regards,
    Kunal Abrol

Its possible, but I wouldn't recommend it.  The problem is that you can only install SharePoint 20103 on Windows Server 2012 r2 using the slipstreamed SP1 version.  I assume that you used the regular version to install on you Server 2008 r2 versions.
Even if you upgrade those servers to SP1 there are some minor differences in the builds between slipstreamed SP1 and upgraded SP1.  So although it will work it isn't recommended.
Also, you should be aware the upgrade of inplace SharePoint servers running Windows 2008 r2 to Windows 2012 r2 is not supported.
To upgrade to server 2012 you'll need to add 2012 servers to your environment using the slipstreamed version os SharePoint and then remove the old server 2008 r2 servers as soon as possible.  For the period of the upgrade you should be able to get away
with running the farm in a mixed state.

  • Why is it that I cannot uninstall because the program was from an unidentified developer

Why is it that I cannot uninstall a program because the program was from an unidentified developer?

Might have an answer for you if I understood what you are asking.
    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash.  Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.  Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space.  If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application.  In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder.  You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder.  You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder.  Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item.  Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder.  Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences.  Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab.  Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS.  Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.  Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default.  You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, EasyFind, instead.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder.  Usually with the same name as the program or the developer.  The item generally has a ".pkg" extension.  Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications.  Here is a selection:
        1. AppZapper 2.0.1
        2. AppDelete 3.2.6
        3. Automaton 1.50
        4. Hazel
        5. AppCleaner 2.1.0
        6. CleanApp
        7. iTrash 1.8.2
        8. Amnesia
        9. Uninstaller 1.15.1
      10. Spring Cleaning 11.0.1

  • Cannot uninstall previous versions of iPod for Windows

Over a year ago, my roommate gave me his old iPod. I installed it and iTunes and it worked fine until the battery on the iPod died and everything went nuts with the iPod - iTunes worked fine.
Now i have a new 30 gig video iPod, but I can't get anything working. I had to fight to update iTunes / Quicktime. Basically, I had to run:
    "C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Driver\8\Intel 32\IDriver.exe" -Embedding
from the command line. I don't know why, but it worked.
Now I have three versions of "iPod for Windows" installed. I click to uninstall any of them (from add / remove programs) and nothing happens.
I wouldn't care, but when I run iTunes with the iPod connected, it says "the software required for communicating with the ipod is not installed correctly."
I've tried everything I can see, but I'm suspicious the three versions of iPod for Windows are conflicting with each other and / or iTunes.
    Can anyone offer any help?
    Thanks in advance.
    Sony Vaio Laptop   Windows XP

Yes it is, the iPod updater was integrated with iTunes when version 7 was released. As a back up, you might want to keep the last one in case you ever needed it but dispose of the rest, they are just taking up space.

It prints fine in Lepoard, but cannot even set it up in Windows when I boot from mac using bootcamp.
I tried wired/wireless and it will not install any drivers.
    Is this a bootcamp issue?

Well, the only way I got this to work was using usb and plugging it into my airport express and then use bonjour. The network option did not work or wireless.
I ended up returning the C8180 and getting a MP970.
