Cannot unistall and reinstall itunes in windows xp

When I try to open my itunes it asks me to put a disk in drive F. Drive F is a dvd player in my computer.
When I try to unistall itunes from control panel it does not work and is reffering to itunesminiplayer resources is missing or is not a valid short file name.

Keanu's right that this one responds well to the use of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility. Unfortunately, Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25 2010. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp. Restart the PC, and reinstall iTunes. Does the install go through properly? If so, can you open iTunes without the error message now?

Despite trying to unistall and reinstall iTunes, I continue to get the message "the program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

You can backup your library by saving the iTunes folder that contains your iTunes Media folder to some form of external storage.

first, head into your Add/Remove programs and uninstall your QuickTime. if it goes, good. if it doesn't, we'll just attend to it when we attend to itunes.
next, download and install the revo uninstaller http://http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html. use it to clear any existing itunes and/or QuickTime installation configuration information from the PC.
next download itunes. it worked for me hope this is helpful!!
oonce you get into the revo uninstallergo thru to delete itunes hit uninstall on the itunes icon then you will go thru to it will tell u the same nmessage about the feature and network hit cancell then go thru and hit scan (make sure bthe advance scan button is pushed) this will take awhile but go thru the list and hit everything associated with itunes. hit delete then install itunes again. it worked for me hope it works for you!

  • Uninstall and reinstall iTunes in Windows XP

I've been tring to upgrade to the latest version of iTunes, but the upgrade installation always crashes.  Does anyone know if I will lose all of the music I have on my pc if I try to completely uninstall and reinstall iTunes in Windows XP?  Alternatively can anyone tell me the folder where iTunes saves songs be default in Windows XP so that I could save them to a thumb drive before I do the uninstall?  Thanks.

Do you get an error message when you try to install iTunes? If so, what does it say? (Precise text, please.)

  • HT4061 I have loaded on my lap top, unistalled and reinstalled itunes and keep getting Apple application support error 2. Any suggestions?

I have loaded itunes on my laptop, unistalled and reinstalled and keep getting "Apple Application support" error 2. Any suggestions?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if Apple Application Support won't install normally.

  • Unistalling and Reinstalling iTunes

I have an HP, and a long while back, my CD drive failed. So I went on a help site to fix it, and it works now. The problem is, before iTunes opens, it gives a message that says
    "Warning!
The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDx are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD driver software. Please reinstall iTunes."
It will import some CDs, but I can't burn them.
I want to reinstall iTunes, but I don't want to lose all my music! What do I do?

Just reinstall it. Back up as soon as you can.

  • How do i unistall and reinstall itunes on my mac

My itunes has suddenly started failing - I cant actually get the store to open. This has happened ever since I attached my new iphone 6+ to the computer. I dowloaded the latest version and that is when the issues started. When I downloaded the new version, it only imported my purchased material.
Should I have uninstalled first? If so, how do I do this?

I don't have an answer but just to say: be careful. I've just done this, manually as it were (deleting all iTunes related files, copying over 10.6.1 from another Mac), in order to go back to 10.6.1 and now everytime I open iTunes I get "An unknown error occurred (-42408)."

  • TS1363 Updated to iTunes to latest version 11.1.4.62 on my Windows 8 machine.  iTunes no longer recognizes my 5th Gen Ipod.  It does however recognize my 80gb Ipod Video.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes as directed (twice) & rebooted pc. no luck.

I just updated iTunes to the 11.1.4.62 (as the pop up directed me to) on my Windows 8 machine. As a result iTunes will no longer recognize my 5th generation Ipod Nano (yes two).   I receive a pop up saying "Ipod has been detected but could not be identified properly"   I've followed the recommendations seveal times: a) disconnected and reconnected. b) rebooted computer c) unistalled and reinstalled iTunes d) tried different cables e) tried different USB porst f) rebooted Ipod.... the window keeps popping up like a middle finger (you get the point)
iTUnes WILL however,  recognize my 4th gen Nano and my 80gb Video (classic) without problem
Needless to say, I'm frustrated and ticked off over all of this wasted time.
    Anyone solved this issue yet?
    Any good suggestions?
    Please advise
    Kindest regards,

    c) unistalled and reinstalled iTunes
Doublechecking. Have you also tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:

  • I can't sync my new purchases, saying computer not authorized, but when I try to authorize it says incorrect passcode when I know is correct. Already unistalled and reinstalled. help?

I am having trouble syncing my ipod nano with my desktop.  I purchased new songs that show up on my desktop but cannot get them to sync to my nano.  The computer keeps giving me the message it is not authorized.  Then it asks for my passcode which it says is incorrect.  Which how can that happen when I can still go into Itunes and purchases songs with the same passcode?  The computer just keeps looping to "not authorized" and "incorrect passcode". But I was able to see my computer is 1 of 2 computers authorized but does not seem to be recognizing this. So,  I called apple support and they had me unistall and reinstall itunes but I am still having the same problem.  Does anyone have any suggestions how to get pass this?  Any help would be great thanks!!

    Hello lenmin,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
To help resolve this issue where you're repeatedly prompted to authorize with your Apple ID in iTunes when syncing, please follow the directions in the article below.
