Cannot unlock 3g phone

the slide on my iPhone 3g will not move, I cannot unlock my phone. Any suggestions? I restored to factory settings from backup but the phone is still locked.

Did you have a beta version of iOS on this iPhone at one time?

Connect to iTunes and try to reset it from there.

Once you get it going you need to make sure you do the following so that you can sell the phone.
Turn off imessage in settings/messages
Turn off Facetime in settings/Facetime
Delete icloud account in settings/ilcoud
Erase all data and settings in settings/general/reset
Delete the phone from your profile in https://supportprofile.apple.com

I Cannot Unlock My Phone

I switched from AT&T to something else. I paid the early termination fee. I called customer service because my phone was still locked. They said that it couldn't be unlocked until the next billing cycle. This is ridiculous because I cannot use my phone now, and there is nothing I can do. AT&T fix this please. I have done everything I could've done, and my phone remains locked for two weeks. I NEED MY PHONE TO BE USABLE.

Try resetting your phone:
Press the sleep/wake button & home button at the same time, keep pressing until you see the Apple logo, then release.

I set up a PW on my IPone last night. Today I could not unlock my phone. Keep trying and then it worked. phone became locked after non usage. tried to unlock it with my PW Code and am locked out...I know that I ma using the correct PW code. how do I resolve this and has anyone else had this issue?

Do a reset like this:
hold wake/sleep button and the Home button at the same time,
the screen wil turn black, ignore the on/off slider, keep holding the buttons, when the white apple logo comes on you can let go.
This does not make you loose any data.
Normally the issue of not unlocking should go away.
But you have to use the right pw ofcourse

You can not do so. If you can't remember it, you will need to put the phone in DFU mode (google for instructions) and restore it as a new device. Do not restore your backup. The backup contains the restriction settings.

I can't slide to unlock either, I've managed to re-install the software after itunes initially said there was a problem, so I continued holding down the home and on/off buttons about 10 times and itunes suddenly opened and let me re-boot.
Is this a problem with the screen does anyone know? There are no cracks or even scratches on it (I have it coccooned in a felt pocket I love it that much) so I'm at a loss as to what to do now.

Your problem has nothing whatsoever to do with Apple and you are definitely not addressing Apple when you post on a public user forum which you have done.
You said on your initial post that your phone was locked to the 3 network, in which case you'll need to contact 3 in the UK to get the phone unlocked.
There is nothing else that you can do, as Apple cannot unlock your phone for you. Apple are not respoonsible for unlocking your phnoe. Only your phone company/carrier can do that for you.
You will have to contact 3 even from Saudi, so it is no good shouting the odds here on a user forum, when nobody can do anything and hoping that by asking your question the answer will miraculously change to something you want to hear.
