Cannot update an iPad os to 3.2.2

I asked one of my friends to buy an iPad for me. He bought one and installed a few iPad applications for me before he handed it over to me. The problem is, after I got the iPad, it looks I cannot update it to the latest os version - iOS 3.2.2.

Unless the app were bought under your iTunes account, when you sync the iPad to your computer the contents of the iPad will be erased and replaced with those in the iTunes on your syncing computer.

If you are really running iOS 4 there would not be that option, it was added in iOS 5. Connect your iPad to your computer and update it in iTunes.

  • HT4623 why I cannot update my ipad from 5.1.1 to latest versions? Some of the apps wouldn't work on the 5.1.1 .  To buy a new ipad, would be a rip off .

why I cannot update my ipad from 5.1.1 to latest versions? Some of the apps wouldn't work on the 5.1.1 .  To buy a new ipad, would be a rip off. What is the solution?

The original iPad does not have the memory and processing power to run more recent version of the iOS. 5.1.1 is the latest it can run.

Are you sure you have an iPad 2?

The current iOS for iPad 1 is 5.1.1.
If you have an iPad 2 then connect it to iTunes.

  • Cannot update my iPad

I cannot update my iPad. I click to download and install, then agree to the terms and conditions and it gets stuck on estimating time remaining. I have 6 app updates and can't apply half of my app updates.

If you don't have a stalled download in iTunes, then try this now. No guarantees, but I have seen it work in the past
Go to Settings>Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Now restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>Store and sign in again. See if you can start one of the updates. Only tap on one icon, and see if that starts the download again.

  • How do I delete apps when I cannot get the red x, I cannot update the iPad because of lack of memory space. I heard it was a bug in the last version of the op.system, any ideas?

I cannot update the iOS because of lack of memory (3.5 GB required). The apps cannot be deleted because I cannot get them red x in memory management or when they shake for reorganization. I heard this was a bug in the last update of the op. system. So what is the process?

From where did you hear this..?

    DELETING APPS
Touch the app and hold your finger down until all the apps start to jiggle. You will see a circled "x" in the upper left corner. Tap it to delete an app. When done press the Home button.
You cannot delete any pre-installed iOS app.
If there is No 'X' on any apps you have Downloaded... then check in Restrictions...

  • Cannot update original iPad to iOS 5

I tried this over and over with no luck. It says iPad cannot be restored or the device isn't eligible for requested build. Any ideas

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

  • HT201263 I cannot update my iPad as my version does not have under the general setting a soft wear update section. What do I do?

Cannot update my version as no update button in the general settings set ion.

You can only update to the latest version of iOS by OTA (Over The Air) if you have iOS 5.x or later.
Since you have iOS 4.3.3 or 4.3.5 you will have to connect your device with your 30 pin dock connector to usb cable to one of your usb ports and then launch iTunes if you have installed on your computer you normally sync with.
Then, you will be prompted for an iOS update.
Or, once your device appear on the left hand side under devices select it and then a window will appear on the right hand side with several panes (tabs).
Select the Summary pane (tab) and then under the 'Version' section select 'Check for Updates'
    Hope this helps

  • I cannot update my ipad from 4.2.1 to anything else.  please help!

    Hello,
my ipad is on 4.2.1 and I want to update it to the latest version but I cant.  I went through the entire trouble shooting, and I even updated my macbook/itunes.  I have restarted my computer over and over, I tried using the different USB ports. I also tried deleting the the ipsw's and downloading new ones.
is there anything you i can do to update it? please help me!!
my laptop tells me that this "ipad cannot be updated/restored.  this device is not eligble for this requestd build."
    thank you!

    Resolution
    Specific error messages and resolutions
This device is not eligible for the requested build: Also sometimes displayed as an "error 3194." If you receive this alert, update to the latest version of iTunes. Third-party security software or router security settings can also cause this issue. To resolve this, follow Troubleshooting security software issues.
Downgrading to a previous version of iOS is not supported. If you have installed software to performunauthorized modifications to your iOS device, that software may have redirected connections to the update server (gs.apple.com) within the Hosts file. First you must uninstall the unauthorized modification software from the computer, then edit out the "gs.apple.com" redirect from the hosts file, and then restart the computer for the host file changes to take affect.  For steps to edit the Hosts file and allow iTunes to communicate with the update server, see iTunes: Troubleshooting iTunes Store on your computer, iPhone, iPad, or iPod—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you do not uninstall the unauthorized modification software prior to editing the hosts file, that software may automatically modify the hosts file again on restart. Also, using an older or modified .ipsw file can cause this issue. Try moving the current .ipsw file, or try restoring in a new user to ensure that iTunes downloads a new .ipsw.
Usually it's just Anti-Virus, try disabling and restoring again. Also ensure iTunes it up to date.
    Hope this helps!!

  • I cannot update my iPad 2 to iOs 7.1.

    Dear Apple Support Communities users,
Hi! I'm here because I want to ask for a problem, since so long ago. The update for iOs 7 & 7.1 have been published for such a kinda long time, but my iPad 2 is still on iOs 6. Everytime when I clicked to the 'Software Update' settings, it always written as 'Checking for updates...', but even I've been waiting for an hour or more, there's nothing appeared. I don't know wether anybody got this problem too or not, but if you can help, I'm very grateful. I hope Apple can fix this annoying problem too.
    Lots of Hopes,
    Deanna

  • Cannot update my ipad to iOS 5 and I do not get an error message

It just kepts trying to connect to the server, but it never does. I have backup the ipad several times without a problem. I DL the latest updates for itunes and my Mac, no problem, just the ipad updates will not work? Help!
    Thanks in advance!

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
If you have no compelling reason for the update TODAY, wait a day or three and try again.
In the announcement yesterday, Apple said there are over 300 million iOS devices (combined sales of iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad since 2007) out there, and 62 million were sold in the last quarter.
So many of those multiple millions of people worldwide have been notified within the last 24 hours that their iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches have the iOS 5.1 update available.
Even with the huge server farms Apple has installed, when millions of people try to download the same update at the same time, network congestion happens.
If possible, download the iOS update to your Mac. Then you can install it on all your iDevices 'offline' at your convenience.

  • HT4623 I cannot update my IPad, have followed directions, but continue to get same message: Your software is up to date, and I have iOS 5.1.1.  any different ideas to help?

Please help with updating IPad from iOS5.1.1 to current. Have followed directions, still getting message: your software, (iOS5.1.1) is up to date.

You must have a 1st generation iPad.
iOS 5.1.1 is the most current version for that device.
    Does it have a camera?
If not it is a 1st generation.
