Cannot update aperture to 3.3.1

I get this message everytime even though logged into the account I used to purchase Aperture and updated it to 3.3..
You have updates available for other accounts.  To update this application, sign into the account you used to purchase it...
Well that is what I am doing however the App Store has managed to get things messed up since i updated to 3.3 just a short while back...
So what do I do to download aperture 3.3.1?????  I am using my standard APPLE ID for this forum and for iTunes and the Mac App Store...

For some unknown reason, the steps outlined in the URL you sent about updates bug, simply did not work.  I ended up going into my admin account which is NOT my regular user account. There I used terminal to delete the spotlight index and restart the indexing.  I then signed into the app store as I normally would, except in my admin account and the downloading commenced.  I should add that I initially tried to download the Aperture update with my admin account before fussing with spotlight and got the same message as in my regular account.  At least in the admin account I could get things done and everything is updated.
The original problem with MAIL is GONE as I tested it with the updated Aperture.  As you know my iPhoto was already updated but both had to be to get the share to mail to work properly...
anyway... problem solved.  This is the second time I have had to do this because of the app store account bug...

  • Cannot update aperture from 3.4.5 to 3.6

I just purchased a new MacBook Pro with Yosemite and used migration assistant to transfer applications from my old iMac.  Aperture v 3.4.5 will not open in Yosemite.  In the app store there is an update available to 3.6 but when I try to update it, it says "Update unavailable with this Apple ID....either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.
I have both an iTunes ID and an iCloud ID, and I have logged out of the app store and logged in with each of these, and I get the same message either way.  I purchased Aperture legitimately, quite a while ago and have updated it previously with no problems.

Have you been running Mavericks previously?
And do you have a full Time Machine backup?
Then revert to Mavericks, perhaps by installing it on an external drive and try to upgrade to3.5.1 first on Mavericks.
See.  OS X Mavericks: Revert to a previous OS X version
But first try to make the Mac App Store provide a redeem code for Aperture 3.6.  Use the link in the quick links section of the AppStore.

  • Cannot update to 3.5 on older MacPro and 3.5 not compatible with 3.4.5

It appears that you cannot update Aperture to 3.5 on older Macs. Worse yet the new update is not compatible with the previous version.
    The questions are  ---
Is this a temproary issue or a permanent issue?
Can I regress back to version 3.4.5 to get my compatibility back ?
I have multiple computers I use to work on my photography.
I use a older Mac Pro Vintage late 2007 that cannot be updated beyond OS 10.7.5. This is currently my primary photo computer.
With 3ghz Quad cores and over a terabyte of drive space no need to update yet except for not being able to load the latest OS.
I also use a MacBookPro Vintage Late 2011 and it was just updated to Mavericks. I use this to edit my photos on the go.
I will consider updating to the latest Mac Pro when it becomes available but what to do until then and a warning to others.

Actually, I had this same problem - accidentally upgraded my library on my Mac Air to 3.5, but am not running Aperture 3.5 on any of my other, older Macs.  I *was* able to downgrade the library back to 3.4.5.  BAsically, I had to open the library on a computer running Aperture 3.4.5 in library repair mode (holding down command and option when opening).  In the ensuing dialog I had to choose to rebuild the library.  I first tried just repairing, and it seemed to work, but next time I opened Aperture I got the "library can't be opened iwth an older version of Aperture" message.  Rebuilding it seems to have done the trick.
A more detailed explanation (though not written for this particular scenario) is here:
         http://www.apertureexpert.com/faq/common-aperture-questions-issues-and-rep/how-d o-i-repair-or-rebuild-my-aperture-library-or-permission.html
Having restored the library to 3.4.5 format, I downgraded Aperture on my Air to 3.4.5 as well and it's been smooth sailing.  Just make sure you have Mavericks set up to *NOT* automatically update your apps, or you'll end up in the same situtation all over again when it silently upgrades Aperture to 3.5 again.
    Good luck!

  • Can not update aperture 3.1, wrong app store account

I have recently upgraded to Mavericks, and now can not open Aperture, version 3.1.
I tried upgrading to version 3.5, but the app store says I have the wrong apple account for this app.  I only have one Apple account, and all other applications upgrade successfully with it.
Aperture was purchased in a box in version two some years ago, and has been upgreaded a few times, by downloading the upgrade and installing.
I have also moved to a new Mac Pro since the last time I upgraded.
I can find no way to upgrade Aperture, and can no longer use it.  It's essential, I'm a photographer.
    Kind Regards,
    Michael Hund

    Micheal,
you can download updaters for all versions, but Aperture 3.5.  But the manual upgrade should enable you to upgrade to a version that will run with Mavericks at least, even if it will not let you upgrade to 3.5.
On my laptop at home I have Aperture 3.4.5 already
Does Aperture 3.4.5 run with Mavericks, and can you at least open your Aperture library and continue to use Aperture?
The update to Aperture 3.5 is handled very differently from all other updates. What Apple is doing, is transferring your Aperture registration key to an AppStore licence bound to your AppleID.
If you cannot update and get a warning, that your Aperture is tied to a different account, could mean, that there is a problem with your Aperture serial number. I suspect, if someone else had used your serial number to activate Aperture and upgraded it at the AppStore, you cannot use the same serial number again with your own AppleID. Compare the serial number you are seeing in Aperture's "About Aperture" panel with the ones on your Aperture upgrade boxes.  And make sure, that you are signed into the App Store with the same Apple ID on all your Macs, when you are trying the update.
if there should be a problem with the registration code, contact Apple and ask for a replacement serial number:  Pro Application Replacement Serial Numbers
Another frequent problem with upgrading Aperture is, that it only seems to be possible, if your main system language is set to "English". Try to set it temporarily to English, while trying to upgrade.

  • Cannot upgrade aperture from 3.0 to 3.1.3

I cannot upgrade aperture from 3.0 to 3.1.3. The 3.0 was initially purchased as a download from the old Apple Store. Now it does not seem to recognise this version when I want to upgrade: "this upgrade requires Aperture 3"... which is ecactly what I have (and purchased!).

    OK, got it solved:
Re: Aperture 3.0.1 upgrade claims I don't have Aperture 3.0 installed
Feb 24, 2010 2:15 PM (in response to civilpooch)
The Aperture file you are upgrading must be in the root Applications folder AND the file must be named (exactly) "Aperture" (no quotes). If you've renamed your Aperture file to "Aperture 3" or something like that, the update will fail. Mark

  • Cannot upgrade aperture 3.1 to the latest 3.2.1

When I try the upgrade it syas I must have 3.0 to upgrade, then closes.
any suggestions to get the upgrade to work??

I read the post you metioned and no I still cannot update my version 3.1 of aperture.  It never comes up in system upater .  I have tried rebuilding desktop, tried upgrading 3.1.1 no help.  I have two peripherals that I disabled no help.
The problem I'm sure is it does not see aperture in the applications folder.  System profiler sees it?
I had this same issue with adobe reader but it clued me with it was looking at the wrong drive, thats why I disabled the backup drives I have.
I have never updated apertur since I bought it.  It's been loaded for over a year?
Any clues or other ways, I would appreciate the assistance.

Cannot open aperture v3 after upgrading to  OS 10.6.8.  Bought the upgrade online so cannot reload the software.  Can you help?

How did you buy it online? Did you buy a registration number from the Apple Store?
Then you can download the Trial version from this link:
        Aperture 3.1 Trial
and run Software Update immediately after installing.
Go to the Applications folder and delete Aperture.
    Download the Aperture 3.1 Trial.
Open the Aperture Trial disc image.
    Double-click the "Aperture Trial.mpkg" file.
Follow the onscreen instructions to install Aperture.
After the installation completes, choose Software Update from the Apple () menu.
Cannot open aperture v3 after upgrading to  OS 10.6.8.
But what exactly is the error you get, when you try to launch Aperture? Maybe you need to do more than updating.

  • I have recently upgrades to OS X 10.9.3 and cannot access Aperture,  (version 3.2.4).  What do I need to do to access my library!!

I have recently upgrades to OS X 10.9.3 and cannot access Aperture,  (version 3.2.4).  What do I need to do to access my library!!

Update your Aperture version to Aperture 3.5.1.
If you bought Aperture as a boxed version with a license key, run Software update from the Apple-menu.
Aperture may be showing in the "Accept" portion of Purchased tab of the App Store.
If you bought Aperture from the App Store, look at the Updates page of the App Store.
Make sure, that Aperture is installed in the Applications folder and simply called Aperture and not "Aperture 3" or similar.
If you did not buy Aperture from the App Store, then the update to 3.5.1 will change your license to an AppStore license. So be sure to sign into the AppStore with the AppleID that you want to use with Aperture, before you update Aperture.
Aperture will update your Aperture library to a new format. Don't open Aperture on your library, before you have made a backup, just in case.

  • What does the message "You have exceeded your license" mean? I cannot open aperture on my computer

I installed aperture on my lap top. I now tried to install it on my Mac Pro. I got a message saying I have exceeded my license, but it let me install anyway. Now there is a grey circle with a line thru the app icon and I cannot open. Can someone help me?

    We have the boxed version
The licence for the boxed version allows two installations, one on a Desktop Mac and one on a portable Mac.
But when you install the boxed retail version on a Mavericks system and update it to Aperture 3.5.1, your licence for the retail version will be converted to a licence from the App Store and tied to your Apple ID. After that, your retail version registration key is no longer valid.
You have to download Aperture from the App Store and use the AppleID, you used when you updated Aperture to 3.5.1.
Do you have updated Aperture to 3.5.1 on one of your Macs?  Then delete the crossed-our Aperture on your MacPro and launch the AppStore. Sign in with the same AppleID you used on your laptop. Open the "Purchased" tab and look for Aperture. Is it there and is the "Install" button available?

  • Error message iPod cannot update b/c all of the playlists no longer exist

Hello. I have been getting this error message. "Songs on the iPod "MAR(the name of my iPod)" cannot update because all of the playlists selecting for updating no longer exist." And my playlists are still on the left side in my iTunes. They do exist. I have a feeling ths might have to do with the fact that on vacation the person I was visiting gave me a gift of putting all of his music that would fit into the external hard drive part of my iPod, and for the past week or so I have been putting that music onto my 40 GB portable hard drive at home. I suspect I took a vital folder out of my iPod by accident. Right now I have the folder iPod_control if I open my iPod up in My Computer. Am I missing something? Right now my iPod is empty because iTunes made a composite playlist last week and I deleted it thinking I could get my real playlists back. Can you help me, or reccomend a site/someone who can? Thank you.

    hiya!
And my playlists are still on the left side in my iTunes. They do exist.
let's just doublecheck this. folks get this message if they have "automatically update selected playlists only" selected in their itunes "ipod" preferences tab. so bring up that tab ("edit > preferences", click "ipod" while the ipod is showing up in the source list), and do a playlist by playlist crosscheck of the playlists selected in that tab, and the playlists showing up in the itunes sourcelist.
is there any playlist selected in the preferences tab that isn't showing up in the sourcelist?
    love, b

I cannot update my iPod. This is the error message I continually get when I try. 'Songs on the iPod "Aimee's iPod" cannot be updated because all of the playlists selected for updating no longer exist.' I can see the playlists on the iTunes screen but when I tried to update it removed all songs from my iPod completely. I have tried reinstalling the iTunes software and the problem persists. Does anyone have any ideas. I have searched the Apple support website and cannot resolve. Thank you, in advance, for any assistance provided.

If it's an Intel Mac, you can upgrade it to Mac OS X 10.6.8.
If it's a PowerPC Mac, you need to use these instructions and/or iTunes Match to put content on the iPad.
