Cannot Update Envy X2 BIOS using sp69946.exe

I have been unable to update my Envy X2 BIOS using sp69946.exe. The executable does brings up a InsydeFlash 4.37 window with blank fields for ID and versions of the current and new BIOS. After several seconds, a popup appears warning me that "No WMI! Do you want to continue?"
If I answer OK, the current and new BIOS version fields show 12 and 14 respectively for less than a second, followed by a reboot. Using Windows System Information, I see both before and after the attempted BIOS update that Windows detects my BIOS as InSyde F.12, 5/8/2013.
I am running Windows 8.1 and have disabled my firewall and anti-virus based on a previous thread, but the results are always the same.
Where am I going wrong?

I understand you're unable to update the BIOS on your ENVY x2 notebook.
Try the steps to update from USB in this guide: HP Notebook PCs - Updating the BIOS, in the section titled "Updating the BIOS when Windows does not start (Windows 8 or Windows 7)."

Cannot update graphics card BIOS, MSI Live upate 6 will not work.

Live update 6 does not support "MSI Radeon R9 280x Gaming 6G" graphics card.
Live update 6 does not run.
Even tried mass loading Live update 6 to the point it had 800+ "Live Update.exe 32*" processors running in task manager and they soon disappeared 20 seconds later.
No UI.

If the program is not running it is clear it does not support any of the hardware in my system including "MSI Radeon R9 280x Gaming 6G".
As a result I cannot update to latest BIOS for my graphics card.

Am I required to have an MSI motherboard to be eligible for a graphics card BIOS update?
The reason why I seek this is because the entire line of R9 200 series graphics cards are plagued with screen flickering due to ULPS. BIOS updates for other vendors of the card; "Gigabyte", "Asus" etc have been reported to fix the monitor flicking ULPS causes however since I have an MSI GFX card I cannot use Gigabyte and Asus BIOS updates.
I no longer have the flickering issue due disabling ULPS and overclocking the graphics card however it's causing the card to operate at a constant 48 degrees and chew power.
With the overclock values and stress testing it with Unigine Heaven Benchmark 4.0 (extreme preset) the card reaches a max of 74 degrees over the course of stress testing for 4 hours.
But I would like to be able to have my card at factory clock settings with ULPS without the flickering and I'm wanting to see if the staff at MSI are fully aware of the bug in their product line and if the latest BIOS version for the graphics card would fix the issue.

No but live update is flakey at best and i wouldn't trust it.... (seen far to many problems with it)
if you want a Updated VBIOS if one is available please supply these 2 things and then one of the other mods will be able to get you what is needed!
1: Serial number of your card (leave off the last 3 digits and then there is no unique information about your card as the rest is all just manufacture data to all the cards from that batch)
2: click the little icon to the side of your BIOS version number and save a copy of the VBIOS to a file and uplaod it to somewhere and give us a link to the file... (use somewhere like Dropbox)
once we have those 2 pieces of information someone here will be able to get one if Available for your card

Cannot update ipod files in use w/ itunes 7

when i am playing tracks off my 4th gen ipod through itunes 7 i kepp getting a can't update ipod files in use message when the song changes, any one else see this

Oh god. Why did i update to ITunes 7... I finally have my ipod recognised by windows, and itunes but cant restore because i get some crappy error about "The Network Connection Was Reset"
Isnt there a fix for this yet. Im afraid that if i turn my pc of i wil never be able to get my ipod to be recognised again

Cannot update Envy dv7 to Win 8.1

The machine is now bricked, and I can't get the exact product name and number.
This has been a 1 year + project to install the Win8.1 upgrade.
I have very detailed notes on the issues, but here is a quick summary:
Machine is now with Microsoft Store to complete the Win8.1 upgrade.
They are discovering the same issues that I documented.
The original 5400 RPM disk was too slow, I replaced it with a 7200 RPM drive.
The machine will not boot unless the original disk is installed.
I have it installed as a D: data disk.
The EFI settings in BIOS do nothing.
If I install Win 8 on a brand new hard disk, the disk is not recognized for boot.
disk diagnostics run correctly.
When I finally fixed the problem blocking Win8.1 upgrade, Explorer crashed
2 times per second, and I could not resolve the conflict.
Using media recovery USB stick, I restored Win 8.0 to the original disk,
the only one in the system, and that disk will not boot.
Recovery Manager steps, outlined on page 111 of the Maintenace Manual,
did not work ... "restore incomplete". Attempts to produce HP_RM_LOG.CAB
on a writeable USB drive claimed it succeeded, but the commands to
produce the CAB both failed with "no start: code 0xc...7b" for
DdCalm_exe
ssrdlog_exe
Microsoft just informed me they were able to install Win 8.1 in disk legacy mode,
but they cannot figure out how to get EFI mode to work.
During this long duration project, my HP warranty expired.
I just didn't have the bandwidth to solve these issues by myself.

Cannot update or eject Ipod using Itunes 7.

Hey all.
I can see that Itunes 7 is giving people quite a bit of grief. I have installed it and when i try and update my 60GB Ipod with version 1.2 (my current version is 1.1) it comes up with the message "Ipod cannot be updated because it contains files that are in use by another application". It will not let me eject my Ipod through itunes for the same reason, i have to eject it using Windows.
I have tried with three different Ipods and it is the same for all of them. I have also tried resetting my Ipod manually with no luck. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I am posting a possible solution to all these problems I and so many of you have said you've experienced. I think I had two things working against me:
1) I did not have a 2.0 USB port when trying to update my ipod to version 1.2. I think this effected the connection and iTunes ability to recognize my iPod.
Anyway, I put in a new USB 2.0 card in my computer, giving me new ports off the mother board, and my connection and update worked.
2) I was not giving it enough time. After I installed the USB card and everything I tried to update my iPod a couple of times, but still had a long slow stall that I did not wait through. I kept at it though and a few days later I set it up to update and left to go out to dinner. Hours late I came back and found things different. I used windows to disconnect my iPod and then noticed a dark "working" bar on my iPod. It was finally updating the device. I waited a while unitl it was finished and then diconnected and ever since then I've got version 1.2 on the iPod and things are working better.
So, my advice: check your USB ports and then give it a few hours.
I really hope this works for you. I worked on this problem for two months and I'm so glad it finally came through. I wish Apple would post some more resolutions that are better than mine.

Cannot update ipod for disk use

When I plugged my new iPod into a second computer, it asked if I want to sync it to this computer. I said no, and clicked "don't ask me again". Now I want to use as a hard drive, but when I plug it in, the iPod mounts, "updates", then unmounts. iTunes still shows it, but I can't change the settings and update it because the iPod now has its normal screen as though it isn't plugged in.
Very frustrating. I've tried about 30 things and short of completely restoring it and being more careful about how I answer questions (and recopying 40gigs from my other computer) I can't think of a way to use it like I have every other iPod I've used.

plug it back into the first computer, use those preferences to enable disk use and then try to use it as drive on second computer.

My card was stolen and now I have a new one. So I need to change the card information used for my subscription, but I can't. I've been trying for days, using different browsers, computers, etc. Contacted chat support with no results. Who do I need to call to get help updating my credit card?
The message I get is "Card is invalid, please check card details"
I have only 4 days left in my subscription.

Customer Service is completely incompetent with this type of issue. You will eventually speak to someone who does not have a good command of English, and judging from the background noise, is sitting in some kind of low cost "boiler room" operation that Adobe noiw considers to be adequate to service their paying customers.
I spent 20 minutes on the phone trying to do the same thing. I have work to do, and eventually had to hang up. The chat line reps have to power to do anything but read from their FAQ cards.
It must be nice to have a virtually monopoly on computer software...you can treat your customers any way you want and not have to suffer any consequences.

Cannot update Firefox "contents" in use problem

Hello,
Could someone help with this problem. I have firefox 2.0.0.1 and I wanted to upgrade to 2.0.0.11. I downloaded the file from mozilla, opened the .dmg and tried to drag the icon to my applications folder.
At first, I got a message saying that I didn't have permission (or something like that) so I went into the Get info box and changed the permissions to R & W etc.) I also did disk utility verify permissions. Everything went ok.
Now I get the following message - The operation cannot be completed because the item "Contents" is in use.
what is going on?

Satellite A200: Cannot update Vista 64bit Bios 2.40

Here is my question:
I have 2.20 Bios Vista 32 but i try to install new 2.40 version and is impossible for me.
I try and i try and always have me the same error, in block 15.
I try for few different forms, vista x64 Bios, because I have instaled Vista home premium x64.
Vista 64 winphlash with Vista 32 ROM BIOS and always the same.
I cant believe it but still the same problem

Thread can be closed, I solved the problem by installing the Value Added Package. Which enabled the BIOS setup to execute.

Tx30 series EC update using Winflash64.exe

Hello,
I want to automate BIOS updates on x30 series hardware. I am able to use Winflash64 to update the BIOS using following switches: /v /sd /sn /nodelay /exit /bbl /silent /file <.......FL1>
But I can't get the EC update working. I tried the following switches: /v /sd /sn /nodelay /silent /ipf ec /exit /file <.....FL2>
It completes the command successfully, but after the next reboot it doesn't display the message about updating EC, it just goes through the normal BIOS init and starts Windows.
If I use WINUPTP.EXE the EC update works just fine. "WINUPTP.EXE -s" is not an option for me as it asks for a supervisor password and that has been set in our company.

Found this on the "more like this" Worked like a charm!
With the Mail.app quit and using the Finder, go to Home > Library > Mail. Copy the Mail folder and place the copy on the Desktop for backup purposes.
Go to Home > Library > Mail > Envelope Index. Move the Envelope Index file to the Desktop.
Launch Mail and you will be prompted to import mailboxes. Select OK and allow the import process to complete.
After confirming all mailboxes were successfully imported and available, you can delete the copy of the Mail folder and old Envelope Index file from the Desktop and this should resolve the problem.
