Cannot update Firefox to 32.0.1

Hi. I have unsuccessfully attempted to update Firefox to the latest version, both via the prompt when it recognizes that the update is required, and by attempting the same via the "about" menu option. On 4 occassions (yesterday and today), the update fails to complete upon re-opening Firefox saying that there is already an incidence of Firefox running - which there isn't! (Windows Task Manager confirms this).
Apart from being annoying with the update prompt reappearing every hour or so, short of complete product uninstal and re-instal (necessitating export bookmark, losing cookies, remembered login details, etc), an option which in my books is last resort, what can I do????
Thanks
Robert

hello robert, you have multiple malicious addons present. though they are disabled at the moment, they could nevertheless be a sign that adware/malware is present on your system, which can cause all sorts of troubles.
please run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes] and [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ adwcleaner].

I cannot update Firefox, I've tried disabling firewalls etc. My computer claims that I need admin permission to update Firefox although I am the owner and administrator of this computer. There are updates available and know the admin password for this computer. It started when I installed the Noscript tool (which I have tried disabling with the same results)

1. Download either the zipped form (or the portable form) of the latest version of FireFox.
2. Unzip (or execute the portable version) into a scratch directory. (If using the portable version, find the scratch subdirectory with the same contents as the firefox directory in the "program files" - probably called "firefox". You may have to look for it - it's buried)
3. Erase the contents of the firefox subdirectory in the Program Files directory,
4. and copy into "Program Files/firefox" directory the unzipped files (or the files in the portable subdirectory labelled "firefox" - the one that has the set of files and directories just like the ones you erased.).
It worked for me.

I can't update Firefox. I just don't know how to fix this.

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop

• 1: I cannot get firefox to just open -I have to go through all kinds of things to use Firefox 2) I cannot update firefox

Hello-
I love firefox - but I am having a hard time using it. I want to replace Safari on my MACBookPro with Firefox (& my iPad if I can).
Here is what I want to do:
1: I cannot dopwnload any updates for Firefox & this is a security issue. I just let my laptop sit for 36 hours trying to connect and cannot. :(
2) I have to go through a ton of clicks to bring up Firefox, with Safari I just clicked on the safari logo on my dashboard and it came up- with firefox I go through a ton of screens to get to the Internet- what am I doing wrong?
I want to use Firefox, but I cannot if I cannot download the updates or access it without so many places to go before the internet will come up- I do not have the time. I work with a new web site publisher and they are impatient with the delays that I have.

1) I have gone to that site to download- hopefully the download took
2) Every time I click on the Firefox icon in my dashboard a screen comes up with the firefox logo and tan arrow pointing to a logo for my applications- I have clicked on, dragged, reloaded & done everything that I can think of to let firefox know that it resides in my applications on my computer.
Each time that I want togo on the internet using Firefox I have to click on the firefox logo on my dashboard, then respond to a message that firefox was a download from the internet, then I have to choose from the firefox logo with a arrow pointing to a filefolder labelled applications (both return the firefox internet browser

• Cannot update Firefox. It says, "Update could not be installed. (patch apply failed). Cannot take the risk of uninstalling MF.

Am unable to update my firefox and also cannot install any other browser like chrome or opera. I had uninstalled Chrome and cannot re install it. My internet explorer is not working as well. So cannot take the risk of uninstalling firefox and install a fresh version (it might fail). However I have scanned and checked my computer as far as possible with multiple programmes and no trouble is reported. All other programmes in my PC are running fine. Windows, internet security is getting updated smoothly. The only problem here is installing browser(s) or updating it.
I am on win 7 64 bit system. Firefox version is 31. It iis constantly asking me to update to 32.0.2. I have tried all specified ways to update it, but failed.

Try this:
*Download the full Firefox installer and save the file to the desktop
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/
*Start the installation with a double-click on the desktop icon
Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
All these programs have free versions.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

• Cannot update Firefox "contents" in use problem

Hello,
Could someone help with this problem. I have firefox 2.0.0.1 and I wanted to upgrade to 2.0.0.11. I downloaded the file from mozilla, opened the .dmg and tried to drag the icon to my applications folder.
At first, I got a message saying that I didn't have permission (or something like that) so I went into the Get info box and changed the permissions to R & W etc.) I also did disk utility verify permissions. Everything went ok.
Now I get the following message - The operation cannot be completed because the item "Contents" is in use.
what is going on?
Thanks in advance

Thanks, that worked. I thought of doing that, but didn't dare until I got confirmation from someone who knows... I'm still learning about what to do on the Mac system. Thanks again.

Have tried tice to upgrade Firefox to my Mac OS X 10.6.7 - no luck. Sounds busy but will not open firefox.app.

Cannot update Firefox from 3.6.3 to 8.0
I've tried repeatedly to do this but it will not load up.
Now I cannot open new websites.

What happens when you download and run the installer? (http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/)
Are you really running 3.6.3? You should update to 3.6.24 ASAP - http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

* Right-click the preferences that are bold, one line at a time, and select Reset.

Running Windows XP service pack 3. Updated Firefox from 8.0 to 9.0. Now when Firefox opens "The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded" is displayed in a window and no home page appears. What's wrong?

That issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.

Cannot see Cookies with new update of firefox.
I recently updated firefox, but when I look on the PRIVACY window, where
websites store cookies, I am no longer able to see any cookies that
are being stored, and I am not able to delete the cookies as soon as I leave
So I am wondering where the heck are the cookies being stored now, with the
new update? I like to be able to delete their cookies immediately, and
I also wonder why firefox does not make it much easier for us to see
all the cookies and delete them with one click, instead of having to
use the <<TOOLS<<OPTIONS<<PRIVACY way of looking at and deleting cookies.
