Cannot update iMovie and iPhoto from Apple Store using Mountain Lion

Hi,
Everytime I try and update iMovie and iPhoto from the App Store I get an "an error has occured" followed by a "There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (20)." I tried to download the update from the apple website, but much to my chagrin I was told "The version of iPhoto installed on this Mac must be updated through the Mac App Store. Check the Mac App Store to see if an update is available."
Help anyone?
Thanks,

I have only had one AppleID ever.  I do not have any other AppleIDs.  My kids have thier own... and only one each for this very reason.  Pick an ID and stick with it becuase it will be with you the life of ownership of Apple products.

  • How to download older version of iPhoto from App Store on Mountain lion

I bought iPhoto in App Store 03.11.12 for Mountain Lion. When I changet a country in my Apple ID all my previous purchases disappeared from list. Couple of weeks ago I upgraded my OS X to Mavericks and of course I upgraded iPhoto too. But Mavericks works much worse on my Mac, maybe model of my Mac is too old. So I decided to downgraded it back to Mountain Lion. But when I want to install iPhoto again it jump out a sign that I can't install it because my OS X is too old and I need OS X Mavericks. What need I do to install iPhoto on my Mac?

Tell us what issues you're having and we may be able to find a solution.  How much free space do you have on your MBP.  You are running 9.5 and Mavericks, correct?
Explain in detail what problems you're having, i.e. what you see, any messages you're getting, etc.

  • Unable to install iPhoto from App Store after Mountain Lion Upgrade

    Hi,
I've formated and installed Mountain Lion.  Unfortunately every time I try to install iPhoto from the App store it starts the download goes up to 10MB and goes to zero.  After three times it gives up and tells me that there is an error and I should try again from purchases.
This also happens with others like garage band etc.
I can use it to install others like Xcode without a problem.
    What can I do?

There's a link on the right hand side of the App Store window

Log in with the Apple ID used to register the computer. If you don't have access to it or the applications still don't show as being free, click here and contact Apple.

  • How do I update iMovie and iPhoto? it tells me "To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it."

I have been trying to update imovie and iphoto but i keep getting the same message and dont know how to go about it. Help please!

You obviously haven't bothered to read the software license agreement that covers iPhoto.
    It states exactly what I have been explaining to folks that you now come along and contradict;
    http://www.apple.com/legal/sla/docs/iPhoto.pdf (underlining mine)
    B. If you obtained the Apple Software preinstalled by Apple on Apple-branded hardware, in order to use the Apple Software on more than one of the Apple-branded computers you own or control under the Mac App Store Product Usage Rules, you must log in to the Mac App Store and associate the Apple Software with your Mac App Store account. If you choose not to associate the preinstalled Apple Software with your Mac App Store account, you are permitted to install, use and run one (1) copy of the Apple Software on a single Apple-branded computer at any one time. Please also note that by choosing to associate the preinstalled Apple Software with your Mac App Store account, you will also associate any other Apple software applications (i.e., iMovie and GarageBand) that are provided to you as part of the same preinstalled application bundle.
You have been lucky, because they realized that you were not intelligent enough to work with logically or to understand the license agreement, the Apple employees likely gave you these redemption codes to get rid of you. I seriously doubt that Apple is going to make a policy and give every user redemtion codes because they fail to read the terms of use and fail to associate their iLfe apps to their Apple ID correctly.
There is no bug. It works this way by design.

Incorrect link to "OS X: How to migrate data from another Mac using Mountain Lion and earlier". Should be http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6025

I think the OP is saying OS X: How to migrate data from another Mac using Mountain Lion and earlier (which should be a link to HT4889) just links back to OS X: How to migrate data from another Mac using Mavericks (HT5872).
It does indeed do that, & HT4889 seems to be MIA.

  • Any way to improve response time with iPhoto 8.1.2 using Mountain Lion ?

Any way to improve response time with iPhoto 8.1.2 using Mountain Lion ?  Can you store photos on a separate hard drive and use a smaller file for openning iphoto?

How did you move your iPhoto library to the new system?  the recommended way is Connect the two Macs together (network, firewire target mode, etc)  or use an external hard drive formed Mac OS extended (journaled) and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity from the old Mac to the pictures folder of the new Mac - launch iPhoto on the new mac and it will open the library and convert it as needed and you will be ready move forward.

  • Cannot update Imovie and Gargage Band

I recently upgraded my MacBook Pro to OS X 10.8 and afterwards was advised that there were several programs that needed or had available updates.
I updated most of them then I received a message when I tried to update one of them that said, "To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it." I realized that back when I first bought the computer I accidentially established two separate apple ID's and must have used different id's for different programs. It took me a while but I figured which applications were purchased wtih which Id and by switching back and forth I managed to update all of the applications except for the two mentioned above. No matter which ID I use to try and update these two applicartions I get that notice.
There is no other Id that I have used to download applications onto my computer as I am the only one who uses it and I have no idea how to update the applications. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • HT201269 Can anyone assist me to solve this issue? how to purchase apps from Apple Store using in Afghanistan?

    Dear All,
I use my iPhone here in Afghanistan, and location of my Apple ID is set to US, I want to purchase some apps from Apple Store but when i enter my credit card details so it ask me for US's Credit Card, Even i could not find Afghanistan in the list of countries.
Can anyone assist me to solve this issue?
    Thank You.

Sorry, but there is no iTunes Store for Afghanistan and you are not allowed to use the iTunes Store of any other country, so unless you physically go to another country and have a valid payment method issued in that country (an Afghani credit card will not be accepted), you cannot purchase apps.
    Regards.

  • Update iMovie and iPhoto.

I updated to Yosemite and now I cannot update iphoto or imovie. The update says,  "This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled." How can this be? I have had the programs on my computer ever since I purchased it 3 years ago. Help please.

    Hello russswaim,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
The following article discussing buying and downloading apps:
Mac App Store: Buy, download, and install apps
The most relevant part for your issue is in the section on "Download purchased apps on all your Mac computers". That being: "sign in using the Apple ID you used to purchase the app."

  • Cannot update or download apps from app store

On my iPad I am unable to download anything from the appstore, this happens for both new software and updates to software is already installed.  What happens is the the blue and white circle appears after tapping 'Install' or 'Update' and then nothing happens, the blue and circle continues going around indefinitely without anything more happening.  There are also number of app icons that are grayed out on the main screen, when I tap on these apps the message 'Waiting' appears, and again nothing more happens.  I have tried updating these from the app store but with same result as described above.  These greyed out icons cannot be deleted either, nothing happens when I click delete the icons stay where they are.  I have tried shutting down and restarting the app store, shutting down and restarting my iPad, and changing the password on my Apple ID account (the suggestion from the Apple support email), but to no avail.

Do you have the WSJ app?
Spent much of the weekend trying to fix same problem. Apple support were polite but couldn't help. Then stumbled across a note against the latest WSJ update to say there had been a bug preventing downloads.
Deleted WSJ app, rebooted iPad, and problem solved
Hope this helps you or maybe others. A lot of people must be experiencing this problem - now I've figured it out, I've found chatter on Twitter etc.
Apple, perhaps you alert your Support staff.

  • Can't update iMovie and iPhoto

My computer lately had some issues, and we took it to the apple store to fix it, and unfortunately they had to wipe out all my data before and start all over again. Now, for some reason, iPhoto and iMovie aren't with the newest update, and I want to update it, but it keeps saying that the apple ID was used to update it before, so it can't do that for some reason. What should I do?
