Cannot update IPAD on 3.2 to latest ipad software

I have an original Ipad on the software that came with the device (3.2) from Apple.  I have not gotten around to updating the ipad until now but when I accept the update to to latest ipad release software option I get a message stating the ipad is not entitled to the new ipad software.  So what are Apple charging now to update to a new IOS level to fix things like the Wifi issue on the ipad 1.  I still have full Applecare on the ipad and yet Apple will not allow me to update to the latest supported release of the iPad software.  Has anyone had a similar problem with the original ipad?  Perhaps I have to purchase a new ipad 2 or the latest IOS is not compatible with the iPad 1?

I have the same by updating from 4.2.1. to the new 4.3.3. iOS.
I am receiving each time the same error code (1394) without proper description.
The help screen doesn't tell what the real fault is, the suggest to instal the latest version of iTunes, what I did.
Even this won't help.
Any suggestions ?

Cannot update iPad tells me it up to date offers no new upgrades

The original iPad is now 4 years old.
Apple is already on their 5th or 6th generations of the iPad if you include the IPad Mini.
The next generation is coming ssometime this year, again.
This is the plight of the early adopter.
I got over two years out of my iPad 1, I bought an iPad 3 and my wife got the use out of my iPad 1 for over a year before I got her an older, but great shape 64 GB storage iPad 2.
    Technologies keep moving ahead.

  • 8.2 verifying updated ipad software hangs

While trying to update my ipad mini with the latest 8.2 ios, it hangs with the Apple logo and blank bar.
Itunes says it's "Verifying updated iPad software...".
I've tried a hard reset and it tells me the update didn't work and that I needed to restore from backup.
After about 20 minutes, the recovery started.
It is now stopped at about 85% on the task bar.
I'm updating connected to my apple mini over iTunes.
Did the update just brick my iPad Mini?

  • Can't update ipad software

I am trying to update ipad software to 4.3.5 but when i try and update i get a message saying that i need to connect to the internet - I am already connected! please help thanks

I get the same problem. I find though that if I close my Kaspersky Internet Security suite, not just the firewall, then the update runs fine. I then turn the security suite back on afterwards.

  • HT4623 Updating iPad software

Recieved gift of iPad Mini (purchased in Europe).  Have been using cable modem at home, so while re-installing wifi modem router decided to attempt to update iPad software (to iOS 7) via iTunes.  Apparently it takes 15 hours to download!!  Is this correct please and is it faster using wifi connection?

Probably faster using wifi. The update is about a gig. Which takes a while to download.
If you have an Apple store nearby you can call them and see if they can help you. Or see if you can use a friend's cable internet wifi to do the update.

  • I have yet  to update my iPhone 4 to the latest iOS software. How do I save photos to my iCloud photo stream that were taken before I activated my iCloud account and photo stream ?

I have yet  to update my iPhone 4 to the latest iOS software. How do I save photos to my iCloud photo stream that were taken before I activated my iCloud account and photo stream ?

You have a couple of options:
    Open the photos one at a time and take a screenshot.  This will add a new low resolution copy of the photo to the camera roll, which will then upload to your photo stream;
    Email the photos a few at a time to yourself, then save the attached photos to your camera roll.  This will add a copy of the photo at full resolution to your camera roll and upload to photo stream;
Use an app like PhotoSync, which will allow you to wirelessly transfer copies of all your old photos to your computer all at once.  Then delete these photos from your camera roll and use PhotoSync to transfer them back from your computer to your camera roll.  These will be the original resolution and will upload to your photo stream.  (You need an app like this because iTunes will not transfer photos back to your camera roll, where they must be in order to add to your photo stream.)

  • Ios7 cannot update ipad apps

Ever since the update, I cannot update my iPad apps. The message says that all the update notices are from the US store and I must go to the Canadian store to update. I have signed out and signed back in, checked my account, and nothing has changed. Very frustrating.

    Hi,
I had the same issue. All you need to do is to re-verify your credit card details on the your phone once again and that should do it.
    Change App Store
    1. Tap "Settings"
    2. Tap "iTunes & App Stores"
    3. Tap on your Apple ID
    4.Tap "View Apple ID"
    5. Enter your user name and password.
    6. Tap "Payment information."
    7. Re-confirm you credit card information
    8. Tap "Done".

  • Cannot update iPad with iTunes 11

Cannot update iTunes 11 giving me message on my computer that I need to upgrade with 10.6.3
    Help!!!!

Ckuan's advice is good, here's a small supplement beacuse you said "10.6.3".
I think what's happening is you really meant "10.6.8", which is the minimum version of Apple's Mac OS X operating system that you need to run iTunes 11.  So I suspect you're really behind in lots of software.  (The current version of OS X is 10.8.2.)
Anyway, presumably you have a Mac and need to get it up to at least OS X 10.6.8 to run iTunes 11.
    Good luck.

  • Updating ipad software

I have an ipad 1 and I can't update the software. When in the summary page, after clicking on 'check for update' under version I would expect it to connect to the internet but instead it open a box asking to select a folder location from my PC - i.e. look in; file name, file type??? Any ideas - what is supposed to happen? I still seem to have software version 3.2.2 and the summary screen saysmy ipad software is up to date - but I don't believe it is.

You may need to upgrade your iTunes to the latest version first.

  • Updating ipad software stuck

Ipad Software update to IOS 7 stuck.  Failed with error code 14.  Recover in recovery mode also failed with error code 14.  Was able to restore to previous version on another Mac to 6.1.3 successful.  Tried the upgarde to IOS 7 again on the orginal Imac and the update hangs in one spot over an hour.  Might have downloaded a corrup version of IOS 7.  How do I clear that out of Itunes in Mac OS 10.8.5, and restart the entire process with a fresh download of IOS 7 for IPAD mini.  By the way, we were able to successfully upgrade to IOS 7 on all of our Iphone 5 without problems, and than this happened when we tried to upgrade our IPAD Mini.

    Hi mocha the cat,
This article describes troubleshooting steps for update and restore errors, including 14:
iTunes: Specific update-and-restore error messages and advanced troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694
    Error 13, 14, 35 and 50 (or -50)
These errors are typically resolved by performing one or more of the steps listed below:
Perform USB isolation troubleshooting, including trying a different USB port directly on the computer. See the advanced steps below for USB troubleshooting.
Put a USB 2.0 hub between the device and the computer.
Try a different Dock Connector or Lightning Connector to USB cable.
    Eliminate third-party security software conflicts.
There may be third-party software installed that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting one or more TcpWindowSize entries into your registry. An incorrectly set default packet size can cause this error. Contact the software manufacturer that installed the packet-size modification for assistance. Or, follow this article by Microsoft to reset the packet size back to the default for Windows:How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, bypassing any routers, hubs, or switches. You may need to restart your computer and modem to get online.
Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.
See the article for additional troubleshooting ideas.
    Cheers,
    - Ari

  • TS1702 Is it normal to take 20 hours to update iPad software to iOS 5.1.1?

Is it normal to take 12 to 20 hours to update the iPad software to version iOS 5.1.1?

That really is extremely slow. But at this point, I would hate to see you stop the download in fear of messing something up. I know it kind of bites - but wait it out and maybe it won't take as long as it is showing.
But if the time starts increasing on the counter, them I would assume that something is really wrong.

  • Updated iPad software only to lose favourite apps.

I updated the software on my iPad 1 because I hadn't done for a long time and apps were often crashing.  In fact the iPad was reset to factory settings and then 'restored'.  Unfortunately some of my favourite apps, apps such as Huff Post and Gmail that I use all the time, suddenly can't be reloaded because they "require newer version of iPad software"!!!!  Now these apps were functioning perfectly well on an older version of the software previously, so why don't they operate on the update?   Without these apps, the thing is not much use to me.
I had just purchased a iPhone 5S to go with my iPad, now I feel like getting rid of both of them, if I can't run my favourite apps on the iPad.

I too have the same problem.  Soon  my ipad  will just be a white screen.  Seems very wrong that I purchased apps and now I can no longer use what I spent my money on.  I would love a refund for each app that I can no longer use.
When you purchase a computer and you buy software you can keep using it, it just doesn't vanish.  I too am very disappointed.  We should at least be able to do what we used to do on our ipads.  I can understand not being able to purchase new apps, but why do my old apps disappear.  THIS IS WRONG.
Guess I will go on a trash search and see 'IF" maybe I can dumpster dive and find a few treasure.  This is just not right.  We have Mac Air, Mac Desk Top, Ipad 1, Ipad 3, I touch, 4 ipods, 3 iphones.  I think we have been really good customers, but I don't like this at all and will seriously reconsider before I make another purchase.  When you buy something it should be yours until you throw it in the garbage.  I don't need it to update, just want to keep using it the way it was.  I understand when things get old, no problem, I'm not looking for new apps.  I just want my old apps that I purchased to still be on my ipad.
