Cannot update iPhoto after upgrading to Yosemite

I have a Macbook Pro which I upgraded to Yosemite but now I cannot access iPhoto because it says I need to upgrade. The problem is that it won't let me upgrade because it says that it was either bought by a different user (I am the only user of this computer) or the item was refunded or cancelled. None of these are applicable. What can I do?

In that case you'll need to contact the App Store support personnel via this website:  http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/

  • I cannot update apps after upgrading to Yosemite. Please Help!

    Hello,
After upgrading to Yosemite, i wanted to go on to iMovie, but i have to update. So i try to update but it refuses and tells me: "This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled."
So what i understand is because i bought this mac in the US and I'm using it in the UK its not letting me update it. But what i don't understand is that i was able to upgrade to Yosemite with my mac knowing i was in the UK.
How can i update my applications?
    Thank you for your time,
    TOAOMA

Perform the following, stopping with the first one which works:
    1. Open the Mac App Store's Purchases tab. If you're prompted to accept it and the other iLife/iWork applications into your Apple ID, do so.
    2. Move them out of the Applications folder(they may need to be put into the Trash temporarily), and then see if you can download them for free from their individual product pages. If you're asked to buy them, see #3.
    3. Click here, contact Apple, and wait for a response.
    4. Buy them.

  • Cannot open iPhoto after upgrading to Yosemite

Since upgrading to Yosemite, I am unable to open iPhoto.  When I click on it a message appears saying  'this version of iPhoto is incompatible with Yosemite', and directs me to the App store to upgrade.  I then get message saying that 'the product you are looking for is not available in the UK app store'.  I live in Singapore but prefer to use the UK App store.  Is it as simple as needing to change to a different country, if so which one? Or is there maybe a simpler way round this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try Terence's instructions here  Is Iphoto gone ? i want it back!

  • I can't update iPhoto after upgrading to Yosemite.

When I attempt to update iPhoto I get the message, "Unable to update with this Apple ID"  "This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled."
I did not purchase iPhoto via the App Store, it was installed on my iMac when I purchased it.  How can I get iPHoot working again?

This error message will appear erraneously, if you skipped the update to Mavericks and iPhoto 9.5.1 and went straight from an earlier MacS X version to Yosemite, without first updating to iPhoto 9,5.1 and associating it to your AppleID.
Try first to buy iPhoto with your AppleID, as Kappy suggested. Delete iPhoto from Applications, but don't empty the Trash, then go to the main page of the App Store and search for iPhoto. If you are lucky, it will show as free and you can buy it directly.
If it is not showing as free, there is no help but contacting the App Store Support: Ask for a redemption code. You will need to provide a prove of purchase for your mac with iPhoto preinstalled.

  • How to install iPhoto after upgrading to yosemite?

how to install iPhoto after upgrading to yosemite?

Download it from the App Store as Matt suggested.  You may have to move the current version to the Trash Bin (don't delete yet), go to the App Store and look for iPhoto 9.6 under purchases.  It will be free.
What iPhoto version did you have prior to the Yosemite upgrade?  If it was iPhoto 7 (08) or earlier you'll also have to download and run the iPhoto Library Upgrader 1.1 on your library before opening it with iPhoto 9.6.

  • Where is my iphoto after upgrading to yosemite??

Where is my IPHOTO after upgrading to yosemite ??

Ok so here's what you gonna do. (had this problem myself today, and after some fiddling figured out what to do.)
Find your old iPhoto with a cross through it, right-click it and select 'show package contents'. A folder will open. In that folder go to Contents>MacOS and there will be three little things there. Click on the one called 'iPhoto' and terminal will open. Leave terminal open and wait four seconds and VOILA! iPhoto opens. Leave terminal open until you are finished with iPhoto, because if you close terminal, iPhoto will close with it. THX! ENJOY! Hope it works.
    P.S.
You can close terminal once you close iPhoto. I also suggest backing up your iPhoto library while you can.

  • Cannot update my iPhoto after upgrading to Yosemite

27" iMac, 2.93 GHz i7 processor, Yosemite 10.10.  Can no longer use iPhoto after upgrading.  I get a message that this update is not available for this Apple ID because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.  How do I fix this?

You must be logged in using the Apple ID used to purchase iPhoto or to set up your Mac - If you are logged in with the Apple ID that was used to purchase iPhoto or to set up the computer if it came preinstalled then quit iPhoto, backup your iPhoto library  and drag the iphoto application to the trash (do not empty the trash yet) and then go to the App store and install iPhoto
If this does not allow you to upgrade then you need to contact App store support  - link i son the right of the app store window

  • I cannot open iPhoto after upgrading latest apple updates.  Getting a message latest iPhoto version is not available in the US

    MacBook pro, 8GB,  OSX Yosemite
I cannot open iPhoto after latest apple upgrade.  Getting message latest iPhoto version is not available in the US.

Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

  • Unable to print from iPhoto after upgrading to Yosemite?

Whenever I want to print from iPhoto, the application on the IMac becomes unresponsive and will not print. This all started after upgrading to Yosemite. My printer is updated, so now I have no idea how to make this work again. Any help would be great.

    DA2014 wrote:
Rebuilt iPhoto, it is updated, but still is unresponsive. I get the spinning wheel that never goes away until I force close the app. The printer works on other applications.
OK and I see the issue is only with iPhoto. The only thing I can think of is resetting the printing system and then re-installing the printer(s). DO NOT use any of the printer's software for installing, simply follow the directions for adding a printer in Mac Basics: Printing in OS X - Apple Support.
To reset the printing system, open System Preferences - Printers & Scanners - locate the device in the window on the left and right click the offending printer and select Reset Printing System....
After you have reset the printing system and re-added the device then shutdown (not restart) the computer for about 30 seconds and restart and then test.

  • Fix for iPhoto after upgrading to Yosemite

After upgrading to Yosemite I was unable to open iPhoto. I moved it to Trash (do NOT empty trash after moving it here!!!) - then go to App Store and download iPhoto. You'll want to make sure you then go to your Finder and click on the iPhoto download app in order to complete the download. When you open iPhoto it may say you need to upgrade - go ahead and do so then your photos will appear again with a new icon in your dock (remove the old one since it won't work now - the new icon will look different if you had an older version of iPhoto).
    Hope this helps!

  • Problem accessing iPhoto after Upgrade to Yosemite

After upgrading to Yosemite on my MacBook , the result I get when trying to open iPhoto, which I use a lot , is : our photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade. The upgrade process for very large libraries may take an hour or more to complete.
What does "not readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade " ? Am I not going to access my photos ?

Thank you Niel but I just found out that my back up to my Passport for Mac is not the same as before and am having problems with it .
I go to settings, select time machine , turn it on and it starts  backing up .
Now it is asking me to choose between My passport for Mac and Other airport time capsule .
When I choose My passport for Mac , it gives me the  choice  : REMOVE DISK or Cancel .
If I choose the other one , it gives me the choice : SET UP or cancel .
I don't know what Other airport time capsule is and not sure if I have to set it up .

  • Cannot upgrade iPhoto after upgrading to Yosemite

It tells me I cannot open iPhoto until I upgrade iPhoto (to a compatible Yosemite version).to upgrade.
I try to upgrade. It prompts me to log in with my apple ID and password. I do. Then it tells me it cannot continue because --
This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.
This is the same Apple ID I have always used for years and years.
    What do I do???!

  • Cannot open and update IPhoto after upgrading to OXYosemite

From the App store, I downloaded and installed OXYosemite. There are 2 more updates available: iPhoto and iMovie. When I try to upload them, the notice I get is "Update Unavailable with This Apple ID  This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled."
I have 2 apple IDs when I inquire about my ids. Signing in App Store with either of them, doesn't resolve the problem. I get the same notice. iTunes, Mac, mobile downloads, all use the same apple IP, only for the computer downloads from App Store isn't working.
    What should I do?
    Thanks, Sev

I have the same problem and can't find out how to correct it.  Unable to update iPhoto or iMovie .. I get the same message as above user.  Help!

  • App store won't let me update iphoto since upgrading to yosemite

i just upgraded to Yosemite, and now my dock shows the iPhoto icon with a slash over it saying that it's not compatible with Yosemite. when i go to the app store to update i get the message as follows -
Update Unavailable with This Apple ID
This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.
unfortunately i can't even find out what version of iPhoto i'm running because i can't open it.
anyone have any ideas on what's wrong? thanks in advance!

You should be able to go the Mac App Store, login with your Apple ID that you have set up and registered, and then since you just bought the iMac New you should find those two Apps to click on listed in the "Purchases" List that is associated with your Apple ID account.  You may or may not need to, for Free, redownload those two Apps from the Purchases List to trigger allowing Free Updates.  I'm not sure, not having done this that way.
    Hope this helps

  • Unable to update apps after upgrading to yosemite

I have update my mavericks to Yosemite. But after upgrading , i m not able to update the apps. Its giving the error : "The update is not available for this apple id either because it was bought by a diff user or the item was refunded or canceled".
It is to be noted that the i haven't changed my apple id.

Please test after each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved. Back up all data before making any changes. Keep in mind that no one here represents Apple or can help with customer-service issues.
    Step 1
A purchased app can only be updated by signing in to the App Store with the same Apple ID that was originally used to buy it. There's no way around that limitation, which also applies to free apps. If you can't sign in with the buyer's ID, delete the app and reinstall it. You'll have to pay for it again, if applicable.
    Step 2
If you get the alert when trying to update a bundled iLife app, select the Purchases page in the App Store and locate the app in your purchase history. If there's a button marked ACCEPT on the right, click it.
If you have a used Mac, the bundled apps were linked to the original owner's Apple ID and can't be transferred to you. Reportedly, customer service has issued redemption codes to some second owners who asked, but it's not guaranteed.
    Step 3
If you're trying to update iLife or iWork apps that were installed from a purchased DVD, or if you have a refurbished Mac bought directly from Apple, contact App Store customer service for a redemption code. You may be asked for the part number of the DVD.
    Step 4
From the App Store menu bar, select
              Store ▹ View My Account
Enter your Apple ID password at the prompt. At the lower right corner of the window that opens, click the Reset button. Close the window.
    Step 5
According to a report, the error can result from changing the language setting of your Apple ID account. I can't confirm.
