CANNOT UPDATE MY 5610 TO 9.40 FIRMWARE! URGENT HEL...

Hi there,
I'm having problems with NSU trying to update my firmware for my 5610 from 4.20 to 9.40.  It will download the update up to 28.0mb but then I get an error message saying "Downloading Update Failed".
I have tried reinstalling the updater, and restarting my computer and my phone many times.  This is getting very very frustrating and I do not know what else to do.  I have checked my product code and it says that the new update is available for my phone.  I am also from Canada, but got my phone from Singapore, but I don't think that has any effect.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Please help me!!!!!!
Thanks.

I posted this in another thread.

Hello,
I never experienced any crashes/restarts with v4.81 but decided to try this anyway. (Gone from v4.81 to v9.40)
I haven't done much yet but here are some of the obvious improvements.
+ Navigation/phone response quicker
+ Camera much better, quicker, overbright gone so you can take close ups with the flash on. (no strange clicking noises as mentioned by some people who used v8.XX)
+ Standard Nokia movies now play smoothly with no juddering. Maybe it can now play MP4s with more than 12fps?
+ Not sure what this feature is called (Organic desktop?) but the default wallpaper now animates/changes. The bars/shades move. Looks nice.
Has there always been 22 ring tones?
That's about it for now, will continue to test

New info
Games (added)
+ Tetris
+ Brain challenge vol2
Apps (added)
+ Youtube, have not tried
+ Opera mini
+ Widsets
Video clip quality settings added
+ High
+ Normal
+ Basic
I do not agree with your observations about the screen distortions.
This has never happened even with v4.81 on my phone.
I do not agree with your sound/music observation, it sounds clear and crisp compared to v4.81.
Why do you want to increase the dB gains on the specific frequency ranges?
By doing that you are messing up the sound quality yourself.
I disagree with your stereo widening observation, with it off the sound is better.
By enabling this feature you are causing some right channels to be crossed over to the left speaker and vice versa.
This only makes matters worse for head phones.
Stereo widening + your messing about with the dB (equaliser) you completely ruin the sound.
And I have experienced 0 popping.
 Haven't tried the camera yet.
Those are my observations.

  • Cannot update mini displayport to vga adapter firmware 1.0

How come i cannot update the firmware,It says "The Updater could not find a Mini DisplayPort to Vga Adapter to update even though the adapter is already connected to my Philips HDTV.At first, the image in my philips hdtv is not clear as my secondary display plus my primary display which is my macbook aluminum has a black portion on the left and right of the screen about an inch wide so i did a little search on the net and it says i need to update the firmware so i downloaded it but i cant update it so im stuck at a crappy ,vivid image or display on my philips hdtv and a small image or display in my macbook everytime my display port is connected.I think my Philips HDTV is compatible with the display port because the image in my macbook can be mirrored but as i said the image is not clear really blurry but i maybe wrong so my second question is how do i know my Philips HDTV is compatible with my macbook as a secondary display?

    1. I don't believe you can have anything hooked up to the adapter. all you need is the adapter plugged in without screen.
    2. how old is the adapter? this update is about a year old, so chances are your adapter has the updated & probably newer firmware installed.
I got the same error with mine back then as it already had the update when I bought it, even tho I did so BEFORE apple posted the firmware, so units leaving the factory already had the updates.
I agree with kmac1036, having recently run the update (or rather attempted to). You can't have a monitor connected to the adapter. It's also likely that your adapter is the newer version, even though the software download is being prompted. I had read on some tech blog that said the model # on the newer adapter has a -1 after it to indicate it's the revision with the updated firmware.

I cannot update my 2gb ipod nano from firmware 1.1 to the new 1.3. It keeps giving me an error. Any ideas?

Here is the error my ipod updater gives:
    http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/2534/test3dn0.png
I've tried to reset the ipod and restart the computer with no luck. The first time i hit update it seemed to be downloading the update but then i didn't seem to install.
I'd rather not lose all my songs and have to reinstall...that would suck....but what if i don't update my firmware? doesn't seem to be hurting without.

I have read of a fix in another forum but haven't tried it...
"Yep, I think it's a bug in iTunes 7. When you click Restore or Update, a progress bar window will come up. While the progress bar is scrolling, unplug the iPod (usually it will eject itself but if it's still showing the Do Not Disconnect, make sure the Activity indicator isn't on and unplug anyway). iTunes will continue to show the progress bar as if the iPod was still plugged in... weird huh? Now once you've unplugged the iPod, you will hear the "ding-dong" hardware disconnected sound. As soon as you hear this sound, plus the iPod back in. It will display the Do Not Disconnect screen again but this time it will actually restore or update. This bug only affects some iPods (My 2GB nano and 60GB 5g iPods are affected whereas all my other iPods are mot...-_-')
I hope Apple fixes this soon..."
let me know if ya try this and it works.
What if i don't upgrade...v1.1 seems ok to me?!?

  • HT201210 trying to update my iPhone 4 to latest 5x ios and getting a "cannot update due to firmware not compatible

Trying to update iPhone 4 to the latest iOS 5, the error "cannot update due to incompatible firmware" prevents install. Any idea on where to find firmware update or resolve?

The correct way to upgrade the firmware is to first assure that you have the latest version of iTunes, then connect the phone to your computer. Click on the name of the phone in iTunes, then "Check for Updates" on the iPhone Summary screen. It should tell you there is a new version, and ask if you want to upgrade to it. If you are using any other method, or you downloaded a firmware file from a web site, you are asking for trouble.
The only thing you might want to do is to delete any .ipsw files on your computer before doing the above, in the unlikely event that the update file was corrupted during download.

  • Cannot update to Firmware version 4.1.108.32627 on ix4-300d

Just bought an ix4-300d with 4-3Tb drives.  I cannot update Firmware to the latest version.  After uploading to the NAS, when I click 'Apply' or 'Apply all pending updates", I see a message that says "The update file is being decompressed".  After several seconds, I then receive dialog box that says, "Error – The software could not be updated."
Any ideas what the issue could be?  Are there any log files to look at?
    Current Version:         4.1.102.29716
    Upgrade to:                 4.1.108.32627

    Hello dcsantis
Check the event log for any abnormal storage alerts such as degraded storage, recoverable errors, missing drive alerts, etc.  Those sort of alerts could contribute to the firmware update issue.
Some basic steps to try for the issue:
Re-download the update file again and check the md5 checksum from the download page.  If the checksum fails, try downloading from a different browser or computer and check it again.
Try uploading and applying the file using a different browser or computer.
Try re-seating all disks with the unit off, then try uploading and applying the update file again.
Try swapping disks 1 and 4 to opposite bays, then try uploading and applying the file again after booting.
LenovoEMC support should be contacted to create an incident if the above steps do not work.

    Thank you for help

Are you trying to update over wireless?

I recommend you reset the TC if you continue to have trouble.. Make sure the TC is directly connected to the router by ethernet as well and try again.
BTW updating to 7.6.3 could be a big mistake. Some upgrades are really downgrades and best ignored.

  • Cannot Update to 1.15 Firmware!! Help?

I have an iPod touch that is on 1.1.4 firmware right now. I remember trying to update it earlier this year, but every time I try to do so, it tells me that it cannot update my iPod. It goes through a few loading steps, and then it looks like it is on the one before actually updating my ipod, and then stops, gives me the error message, and discontinues the process. At the end of the message, it always has the error number of (1062.) Any help? Should I just wipe the thing entirely? Ive had to do that before... and I put 1.1.3 back on perfectly fine without any errors. Thanks!

I prefer to download and install the firmware separately. After I download the firmware, I copy the file and rename with a ZIP extension, then open it. If it opens, I'm happier the install will succeed.
Sometimes people publish the firmware on the net because of issues with Apple's servers, so you could try to download a fresh copy?
I never use the "download and install" option as the Apple servers drop out often and you could end up with a corrupted file. Why doesn't Apple have checkpoints in their file to allow the download to resume from the last dropout instead of going to the beginning (my rant).

    Hi,
I like many others have major problems with my Ipod, we downloaded the Itunes 6 , removed it, went back to 4.9, connected the Ipod, everything got erased. ( but it was still on the computer thank goodness, anyway now I can't put anything back on to my Ipod, it say "Ipod cannot update. The required file cannot be found"
I have Windows Xp Pro 2, what can I do, please lead me in the right direction.
    Thanks

OK - Looks like your iTunes is working and has the songs you expect in it. No need to uninstall iTunes.
Are the Playlists on the iPod only, or are they in iTunes only, or are they on both? Are they populated with the songs you expect?
You can save the Playlists by 'Exporting' them individually to a PC file. Within iTunes, select (highlight) a playlist, go to File==>Export Song List and save the file to a 'Playlists' folder that you create. Save the playlists as a .txt and an .xml file (do both for each playlist: data redundancy is good).
Do you have the original photos that are on the iPod? We will have to Restore the iPod and all data on it will be erased. As you have all the necessary music on iTunes, all we would be concerned about are the photos. Or anything else you haven’t mentioned.
As long as you are satisfied with the state of your iTunes (all music and playlists present and accounted for), then you can comfortably Restore the iPod and place it all back on the unit. Restoring an iPod will not impact your iTunes. It just clears off the iPod's HD and replaces the operating system with a fresh copy. This should correct your inability to download any additional music to the iPod.
Before you proceed with the Restore below, make sure that you have copies of all the data on the iPod so you do not lose anything.
First, make sure that the iPod is fully charged.
Make sure that you have the latest iPod Updater software (if you already do, skip to *)
You also need to install the new Updater software (if applicable) by double-clicking on the file that downloads.
After you install the Updater to your PC, reboot your computer.
    After rebooting, run the Updater.
    * Go to: Start ==> Programs ==> iPod.
It should initialize then ask you to connect an iPod.
Connect the iPod when asked (not before) and you should have two options available: Update or Restore.
-- Choose the Restore option and it will update your iPod's firmware to the latest version and format your iPod's hard drive.
After the Restore complete, re-register the iPod with iTunes, choose your syncing preference and place the music back on the iPod. Do whatever it is you do with the photos (I just have a mini, so no experience with photos), and you should be good to go.
Post back if you have any questions. Especially if you are unsure of anything before you perform any additional processes.

    1. Restart the computer in safe mode. Certain caches maintained by the system will be rebuilt.
Safe mode is much slower to start up than normal. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
When the login screen appears, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and test. There's no need to log in while in safe mode.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t start in safe mode. In that case, go to Step 2.
If there's no change after taking this step, continue.
    2. Back up all data before proceeding.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /var/folders
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "folders" selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Restart the computer and empty the Trash.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
