Cannot update phone

For the last 4 days we're tried updating the Bold 9700 and its applications using the desktop manager. It shows the phone needs updating, gets the list and we choose update. It backs everything up, starts to update/download what's needed, then after reducing the number of files by a few, fails every time with:
There's no problem with my network. After it's failed like this, I have to relaunch the manager if I want to try again as checking for updates no longer detects that updates are needed. I then get the same message after backing up without it even starting to download any part of the updates this time. No matter when I try throughout the rest of the day the same thing happens. It's only first thing in the morning, around 7.30am UK time, that I get that initial downloading taking place before the failure. Something is clearly wrong. Can anyone help?

Let me update this for anyone who's having the same problem and finds this post at a later date.
I've now tried updating it with 2 Macs, one running 10.5 the other 10.6. According to BB's website there are newer versions available, but the updates that show up as being needed on my phone according to the Manager, have the version numbers 5.0.0 after them, when I clearly have a newer version on-board than that anyway.
It says there are 1375 files to download when I start the update, which seems an awful lot considering only 15 items show up in the list. Even though it then says it's downloading, when I do a network check nothing is coming in at all, which may explain the original error message.
The whole thing seems so amateurish when it comes to Mac support. At least as a Windows user you can download the actual OS update file if you want to. It isn't just affecting me, there must be plenty of people out there having this frustrating BB experience too.

    If you are trying to do this all online, it won't happen.  The new shared plan probably won't go into effect until your next billing cycle.  And the Verizon website is notorious for only being able to do one thing at a time. To upgrade the plan, add a line, and get new phones all at once is more than it can handle.
    So, what you need to do is call Customer Service (800-922-0204) and complete the changes with a rep on the phone, or go into a store to do the transactions.  Or wait for one change to take effect, then make another - but it could take a long time doing it that way.

    Everytime I connect my C3-00 to Ovi Suite to start the update process, this pop-up appears. I disabled my Kaspersky Internet Security but it's still not working. Now what I am supposed to do? Please help. Thanks.

    I'm having the same problem. I'm running a Nokia E63 on Windows 7, Nokia Ovi Suite software version 3.1.0.91, and the firmware version (device software version). on my phone is 200.21.012.
    This being very old firmware, I want to upgrade to the required 500.21.009. However, whenever I try to upgrade, I get the error attached (Error code: 12008). Can someone help me as I've reinstalled Ovi Suite to the latest version and still no joy.

    When updating  apple-id information
    phone number won't update. When changing it and "saving"  changes an "unknown error "   pops up,  All other info was successful.

    Go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, click on your Apple ID, clidk on Sign out. Then Sign back in with your new ID.

    when I  try to update my phone software a problem appears:
    -USB connection lost...
    -the ovi suite gives me some steps to recovery
    -then I follow the recovery steps after that the same problem appears
    can anyone help me I can not update my phone....

    Make sure that time and date + timezone is correct in the phone
    Uninstall Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver and PC Connectivity Solution
    Reboot your computer just to be sure, and then start Ovi Suite and try and connect phone again.
    If you are using a stationary PC make sure you are using the USB ports on the back of the computer.

    This is a tedious solution, which is stupid!  And some users report an inability to reauthorize a computer after an "en masse” deauthorization.  I can’t believe Apple doesn’t provide a list or menu to find out which computers you’ve authorized! Obviously, APPLE knows (or else they couldn’t tell us how many computers we have authorized)--so why can’t they give us access to that information about our own computers??!!!
    And for an already-authorized computer with a hard drive that’s since been replaced and upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite, would it be recognized as a “new computer” and require authorization? Would its previous incarnation (i.e., with the old hard drive and OS) be considered a separate computer? Some users report they can’t authorize a computer after an OS upgrade because of that. Can’t believe we have to do such a bass-ackwards kludge!

  • I tried to update my iphone 4s. it is now showing a sign to plug the phone into itunes. Plugged it into itunes and now itunes says i cannot update the phone as it is in recovery mode. any ideas?

    That is not what it says. Read the message again. It's telling you it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode and it must be restored.
    Restore it. You don't have a choice at this point.

Wait for the device to turn off.If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
    While pressing and holding the Home button down, connect the USB cable to the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. The device should turn on.
    Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen. When this screen appears, you can release the Home button:

    ... sounds very much like " cellular signal dead spot " OR "radio frequency interference"
    Test this by noting exactly where in your house that this takes place and also where it does NOT. Repeat until you have a "Map" of the good and bad spots.
    You cannot do much about the cellular signal but may be able to troubleshoot the interference problem. This document talks about Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, but the "Sources" might also apply to your cellular signal problem - radio waves are radio waves.

    my blackberry desktop software cannot update and load an os to the phone. i have error 507 which means there is no os on my phone as i read somewhere. but the problem is.... i have tried all the intruction on the solution on error507 but to no avail. the device software alwas says " "There is no  BlackBerry® Software available." with Cancel, Update and Retry option. If I choose to Update the software it will say that no software is available... i even tried downloading the os6 for my fone and used the loader but it gets stuck at the last process with the same message "There is no  BlackBerry® Software available.

    Please check carefully these instructions, most importantly the part about deleting VENDOR.XML file(s).
    1) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages
    2) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed

    3) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:

    4) If that OS package is from a carrier other than the carrier for which your BB was originally manufactured, then delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
    Now, use this process:

    When you update over the air, the file is downloaded, then expanded on your phone...you need free space to do that. When you update using iTunes, the file is downloaded/expanded on your computer, then applied to your phone. That's the difference.
    Either start deleting stuff...or update on your computer.

I checked from Nokia website  last version is 32.0.002.  But I cannot update new version.  I Updated by phone or by Nokia Ovi Suite with correct step.  I could see the other software program that can be update but device software version 32.0.002 not available, Could see only version 20.0.005.  I think that software device version 32.0.002 is not upload to server for services  (For Thailand).

    Availability of update depends on Region / Product Code.. Also if thye phone is Network locked then the update is possible only after an approval from the operator...so, it seems there is no update made available for your device yet.. and you will have to wait and keep checkin..

    The same thing is happening with my wife's iPhone 4 and we can't figure it out. When placing a call, the screen freezes and she needs to restart the entire phone.
    She upgraded to 5.01 this morning over the air while it was plugged in. Immediately afterwards, this problem started happening. We've tried restarting the phone several times and plugged in to iTunes but there's nothing she can do do to fix it.
