Cannot update Reader to Version 11.0.02

I have an iMac with 3.2 ghz intel core i3 processor. I use OS version 10.6.8 and currently use Adobe Reader 10.1.4.  I have tried the automatic update from Adobe in past days and also downloaded several times Reader 11.0.02.  The installation goes just fine until the last stage of "loading Package Scripts" which will not finish.  I have even let the install for more than 1 hour without success. I have used Adobe products and of course Reader for MANY YEARS.  rkw1996

Thank you Sabian for your kind reply.  I did the SUDO action in terminal and the reply was exactly as you said; sudo: can't open /private/etc/sudoers: Permission denied
I bought this 27" iMac new in Oct 2011 and it came witrh two DVD discs. One says iMAC "Mac OS X Install DVD"  (It is version 10.6.4 and because of updates my OS is currently 10.6.8)      The second one says iMAC "Applications Install DVD".  If I re-installed the "Applications Install DVD" would it possibly correct the "Permission denied" issue?   I am concerned if I also re-install the "Mac OS X Install DVD" some of my "OTHER THAN APPLE"  programs would get screwe3d up.  Even though I have owned many computers over the years, I am an old guy who knows just enough about computers to be dangerous..   • Updated reader to version 11.0.7.79, now all I am getting are gray screens. How do I fix this?

    I am using Firefox 29.0.1 browser, and Windows 7 Home Premium. After updating Reader to the latest version, (11.0.7.79), any pdf page I have tried to view, has controls,(buttons) for various actions (on the page border), and THAT PART of the page is normal, but the entire VIEWING screen is gray, and nothing ever loads. This did not ever happen until I updated Reader from version 10. How can I repair this?

  • Cannot update to Firmware version 4.1.108.32627 on ix4-300d

    Just bought an ix4-300d with 4-3Tb drives.  I cannot update Firmware to the latest version.  After uploading to the NAS, when I click 'Apply' or 'Apply all pending updates", I see a message that says "The update file is being decompressed".  After several seconds, I then receive dialog box that says, "Error – The software could not be updated."
    Any ideas what the issue could be?  Are there any log files to look at?

    Check the event log for any abnormal storage alerts such as degraded storage, recoverable errors, missing drive alerts, etc.  Those sort of alerts could contribute to the firmware update issue.
    Some basic steps to try for the issue:
    Re-download the update file again and check the md5 checksum from the download page.  If the checksum fails, try downloading from a different browser or computer and check it again.
    Try uploading and applying the file using a different browser or computer.
    Try re-seating all disks with the unit off, then try uploading and applying the update file again.
    Try swapping disks 1 and 4 to opposite bays, then try uploading and applying the file again after booting.

  • Cannot update to new version

    I am running linex on an Acer Aspire one. I have tried to update Firefox to version 4 and after sucessfully downloading the file I then couldn't install the update. I have extracted the file from the archiever be still can't work out how to run the update. I am now being advised to update to version 6 which I have tried but without any more sucess. I have checked if my automatic updates are enabled under the edit/preferances/advanced/updates tab but cannot select the firefox box as it is not highlighted.

    I was having issues in Win 7.  (maybe same, maybe not.  for me, updater was complaining the downloaded file was invalid).
    I got around it by installing directly from apple.com, rather than using the updater utility.

    Thanks so much for referring me to this post...it apparently was the exact same probelm as I have...after back & forth posts on it, apparently all that was required for that victim was a reboot...

    I updated to OS X Mavericks.  I updated all of the new iLife applications.  iPhoto is not updating to new version.  I have iPhoto '11. 
    The icon on the dashboard has the new logo, however when I open the application it hasn't updated.  I tried deleting the application and redownloading it.  Still stuck with old version

    I have exactly the same problem as carson.
    iPhoto tells me that I have Version 9.5, and the info-page tells me "iPhoto 11, Version 9.5 (902.7)", and the logo is the new one.
    However, the programme is exactly the same as the old version - not just similar, exactly the same! The screenshots on the apple-website show a dark grey, almost black interface, for example (like the new iMovie). However, my version still shows the old light grey.
    I deleted the iphoto-app entirely (and was horrified to lose all my photos), but that also didn't work out.

  • Cannot update software from version 1.0 after factory reset

    Just did a factory reset on my first generation, year old, perfectly working AppleTV. Then wanted to update the software from ver. 1.0 to current. For two day now, when choosing "update software' the response is that newer software is available but the download spins and spins with nothing happening. Seems like the network connection must be good or there wouldn't be knowledge that newer version exist. Eventually a message states that the software is not available now try late. As I said, I have been trying for 2 days. What's up with this?

    Self-repaired! It was appear that the quality of reception of the ATV is problem because it cannot hold a connection long enough to download the software. I took an 11n airport express which extends my airport network and plugged the ATV to in by Ethernet. Result. ATV showed up on iTunes. Upgrade to 2.2 downloaded. And since I only stream, the system seems faster and more solid, so far. Amazing.

    I managed to upgrade the package installer for version 9.3.3. to 9.3.4. using the command obtained from the original documentation from Adobe:
    msiexec / a "\ \ Distribution point_Computer \ Distribution Point Share \ Managed_Distribution_Application \ AcroPro.msi "/ p" \ \ Source_Computer \ Source_Share \ Managed_Source_Application \ patch_file "
    If I apply for GPO the resulting files from the above command on a clean system, it works and let the version 9.3.4 installed
    If I try to update with the same GPO a system that was already version 9.3.3, installing (I know because he creates a new Reader icon on the desktop) but is still version 9.3.3. without installing the 9.3.4.
    Any ideas?

    1. Go to Reader > Help > About. You must be seeing 9.3.4 as the  version installed on the splash screen. Press "Space" and notice the  version that comes up herafter. Is it something like 9.3.4.xxxxx   - I have version 9.3.4.218
    2. Can you check the values of the following registries as well. (Start > Run > Type regedit)
         HKLM > Software > Adobe > Acrobat Reader > 9.0 > Installer > VersionMax
         HKLM > Software > Adobe > Acrobat Reader > 9.0 > Installer > VersionMin
    These registery entries are not present in the Installer branch...
    3. Read somewhere on the forum that everytime the updater runs, it  creates a log file (AdobeARM.log) at the location %temp%. Can you  analyze the contents and post the same, so that we may isolate the  problem.

    My 5800XM crashes and restarts when i try to update my Adobe FlashLite to new version 3.1 through App Update.
    Also, the same happens when i try to install anything from "Download" app.
    Can you please suggest something other than restoring the phone?

    Dial *#0000# and under Options check for availability.. If available go for it. You may also try thru' Nokia Suite (Go to Tools-->Software Updates) and if available follow instructions CAREFULLY. Last chance is to try thru' Nokia Software Updater.
    If there is NO update available thru' any of these 3 methods, yo may try your luck at Nokia Care. Else, you can not do it and will have to wait till one is made available for your Device.

    If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.

  • Mac App Store cannot update itunes, OS and remote desktop; keep saying it is updated and yet ask it ask you to update as in fact it is not updated

    I search my problem on web and got no solution.
    1) mac app store shows some updates needed. e.g. itunes, remote desktop.
    2) I clicked "update", and it changes to "installed" within seconds and then shows I have installed the update.
    3) But the problem is that the software is NOT updated and the "installed icon" changes back to "update" immediately.
    4) the picture below shows what happened.
    5) As you can see, the remote desktop is updated twice on Mar 3 and is version 3.8.2 v1.1 but the mac app store prompt me to update it.
    6) I cannot update the new version of MAC OS too.
    Solution:
    1) Restart app or OS. >> Failed.
    2) Rebuild spotlight >> Failed.
    3) Genius bar >> No hope as the Genius bar is fully booked all the time (rumors that people are selling the timeslots, guess where am I?).
    Can any one help me on that.
