Cannot update to Firefox 34.0.5 (currently using 32.0.3)

I'm currently using Firefox version 32.0.3 and I am unable to update to the latest version (34.0.5). I am always presented with the error "The Update could not be installed (patch apply failed)". I have also tried manually installing the latest version but after unpacking the EXE file nothing happens.
What could be causing this? Never had an issue updating Firefox on this laptop before (Win 7 64 bit).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi auroradark, try to boot the computer in [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/start-computer-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-7 Windows Safe Mode with network support] (press F8 on the boot screen) and then see if that allows to download and install Firefox from the next (full installer) link :

thank you

Cannot update above iPhoto 8.1.2 currently using iOS 10.9.5. I didn't update to ilife '11 and now it doesn't exist it's proving me difficulties

Being that you are (very) late to the party your options are limited - you must either purchase an iLife '11 DVD (Amazon or eBay) and install iPhoto '11 then update to 9.5.1 - or - (probably better) upgrade to Yosemite and then upgrade to iphoto 9.6

  • I cannot update my firefox. I am running on MAC OS X 10.6.8.

I cannot update my firefox. I am running on MAC OS X 10.6.8. I will begin the update process but it will never complete it - often crashes before it finishes the process. Any recommendations?

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop
    *Firefox 17.0.1: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
*Trash the current Firefox application (e.g. open the Applications folder in the Finder and drag the Firefox application to the Trash) to do a clean (re-)install
*Install the new version that you have downloaded
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Installing+Firefox+on+Mac
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data if you uninstall and (re)install Firefox.

  • My Firefox 3.6.23 tells me that there are no updates. I cannot update to Firefox 7!

I tried to update my firefox to latest version. It downloaded 3.6.23 update. I applied it, restarted Firefox, clicked Help -> Check for Updates - and it said there were no updates. I tried restarting Forefox many times, it didn't help. I cannot update to Firefox 7!

Version 7 is not (yet) being offered via the search for updates feature. You can download the installer from http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/

It means that nano was used on a third-party software or synced from different computer to sync music. Does that nano show in iTunes? If yes, then restore completely. If not, then you may need to head to Apple Store and see what they can do.

Hello, do you mean the files end up on the PC side, or the notifications?
On the Mac side try this...

  • I have Mac OS 10.5.8 but I'm told that I cannot update to Firefox 4 even though I'm told Firefox 3.5.6 is not secure.

I am getting a message that my version of Firefox 3.5.6 is no longer secure against attacks, yet when I try to update to Firefox 4, I'm told that my Mac system isn't compatible even though I have system 10.5.8 and the requirement is supposed to be 10.5.

Firefox 3.6.17 should work on a PowerPC Mac and OS X 10.5<br />
Firefox 4 won't work on your computer.

  • I cannot update to firefox 4

Every time I've tried to update to Firefox 4, it crashes before the homepage even begins. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but even that doesn't work. How can I solve this?

Thank you, milance22, your tip worked. However I have to say that whilst FireFox is probably the best browser for the PC, their upgrading process is not so good. Now I am in the process of reinstalling all my add-ons, and I have just had a hard time importing my old bookmars. But thanks to you, I have now upgraded from version 3. Much appreciated. Best regards.

  • Cannot update because firefox never gets beyond the "Downloading Firefox" box, the one with "Hide" button in the lower left corner.

the "Software Update" box shows "Downloading Firefox" the blue strip runs across the box in the area that is immediately above, "Connecting to the update server..." I have let it run for over an hour a couple of times - it never gets beyond this step.

If you have problems with updating then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
    * Do not remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

My mozilla firefox icon is currently 4.0. I tried to update to 6.0 and went to downloads and dragged the icon, unfortunatly it goes thru the setup everytime I try to use it. I must have got the icon from the wrong place or did something wrong. I would like to have mozilla/firefox 6.0 as my home screen and reflect that with an icon on my desktop, any help would be greatly appreciated. ps already been downloaded for 6.0

  • Cannot update from Firefox 3.6.4 to 3.6.6. Whenever I try I get the error message "7-zip Firefox 3.6.6 update access denied"

I tried using the automatic update; when I got the message that the update would be applied the next time Firefox started and asked if I wanted to restart Firefox and I said "yes", Firefox was still at version 3.6.4 when I restarted. So I tried various other ways of updating and finally arrived at "last resort", download the .exe file and run it over the top of the current version. I tried to run Firefox 3.6.6 update and keep getting the access denied message.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened

  • I cannot update beyond Firefox 8.0. I am running Win 7 and keep getting a message that I need to restart so a previous update can complete. I also get the message that I am not running the newest version of Firefox.

I can download FF 9.0 but not install it. The same thing happened with FF 8.0.1

Same problem here. I installed version 4.0, then removed it and tried to install 3.6. Now no version Firefox will not install. I keep getting a message that I have to restart my computer in order for updates to a previous version can be installed.
Every time I restart the computer and try to install firefox the same message keeps appearing. I attempted to uninstall the earlier version of firefox using "programs and features" in windows but the same message came up and thus I was unable to uninstall using that method.

  • Firefox says it has an update but when I select update it says it cannot update because Firefox is open. It is not open anywhere else.

Those are pretty much the details. I have completely shut down and restarted. I have done a restore (which seemed to work for a while but then it went right back to doing what it had been doing).

Can you give the exact wording of the message that is telling you your laptop needs an update?

  • Why can't 4.01 connect after updating from Firefox 4? I must use a system restore to get back online with Firefox 4, using Vista Home Basic SP2.

Firefox is my default browser. Recently I updated from 3.5 to 4.0 with no problem. Then, using 4.0, the new update notice appeared. I clicked to update to 4.01, but after downloading, 4.01 could no longer connect to any web page, and displayed the error connecting message (including "server may be busy, wait and try again" etc.). It never did connect. Yet Internet Explorer was able to, which I loathe to use even as a back up browser. I also checked to see if IE9 had stolen the default browser association, but it hadn't. I was hoping I could blame Microsoft's shenanigans, oh well!
I then did a system restore from a point a few days prior, and 4.0 was up and running like before.
Twice thereafter, I tried to update again manually, using Help/About Firefox/Check for Updates. The same thing happened.
I'm content for now to stick with 4.0. FYI & FWIW, I tried to provide this feedback to Mozilla at another page, and was told I must have "the latest version" in order to submit feedback. I'm glad I found this way of letting you know of this repeated problem.

  • HT4623 Over the last few days, I cannot update my apps or connect to iTunes using my iPad.  Can anyone help with this?

Over the last few days, I cannot load the updates for my iPs apps or download any books via iTunes as it will not allow me to connect to the iTunes store.

    Hi susieq2014,
When troubleshooting iTunes Store connection issues, the following articles provide the best information:
First, try signing out of your account in Settings > iTunes & App Store. Once signed out, go ahead and sign back in.
iOS: Changing the signed-in iTunes Store Apple ID account
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1311
If the above did not resolve your issue, refer to the following:
Can't connect to the iTunes Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1368
Troubleshoot issues on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Store:
    - Make sure your date, time, and time zone are correct in Settings > General > Date & Time.
Note: Time Zone may list another city in your time zone.
    - Make sure that your iOS software is up to date by tapping Settings > General > Software Update (iOS 5 or later) or connecting your iOS device to iTunes and clicking Check for Update on your device's Summary page.
    - Check and verify that you're in range of a Wi-Fi router or base station. If you're on a device with cellular service, make sure that cellular data is turned on from Settings > General > Cellular.
Note: If connected to cellular data, larger items may not download. You may need to connect to Wi-Fi to download apps, videos, and podcasts.
    - Make sure that you have an active Internet connection. You can check the user guidefor your device for help with connecting to the Internet.
    - Make sure that other devices (portable computers, for example) are able to connect to the Wi-Fi network and access the Internet.
    - Try resetting (turning off and then on again) your Wi-Fi router.
    - If the issue persists, try troubleshooting your Wi-Fi networks and connections.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.
