Cannot update to iPhoto 8.0.4

I'm not able to update from iPhoto 8.0.3 to 8.0.4. I found in the Apple support section that you are not supposed to move iLife from the Applications folder, but I did that a while back and I forgot what the folder was called. I assumed it was called *iLife '09* in the application folder, but making a folder there and moving the iLife files there did not make the updater recognize the application was there.
Is *iLife '09* the correct default folder name?
Do I need to reinstall iLife at this point?

Put it and the other iLife applications straight into the Applications folder.

Yosemite is not iOS. It is OS X which run on Macs.
Go to the App Store on your Mac and download iPhoto.

  • Cannot update above iPhoto 8.1.2 currently using iOS 10.9.5

Cannot update above iPhoto 8.1.2 currently using iOS 10.9.5. I didn't update to ilife '11 and now it doesn't exist it's proving me difficulties

Being that you are (very) late to the party your options are limited - you must either purchase an iLife '11 DVD (Amazon or eBay) and install iPhoto '11 then update to 9.5.1 - or - (probably better) upgrade to Yosemite and then upgrade to iphoto 9.6

I cannot update the iphoto ap on my mac os x because it looks for the ID I used when buying it and I forget the password to that email.
The emails is obsolete so I cannot get the password from the service provider.
I have another Apple ID and password which I use - but it won't let me update the iPhoto I bought with THIS cMac

    Content and Apple IDs -
Content is forever tied to the Apple ID that bought it. Apple does not transfer content from one Apple ID to another. Apple does not merge Apple IDs. You will never be able to access your content bought with one Apple ID with a new Apple ID.

What are you refering to here? Mac OS 9 came out around 2001 ( or about ).  Mac OS 9 last run  in an emulation mode in 10.4.11 -- Tiger.  Mac OS 9 ran on PPC machines that were last produced before 2004 or so.
I think your conclusion you need Mac OS 9 is incorrect.

iPhoto '11, Mac OS X (10.6.8), need to upgrade system to 10.8
We need to verify some information.  Are you really running 10.6.8?  What hardware?
Here is how to find out what version of Mac OS you are running:
Click on the blue apple in the upper left hand of the screen.
    click on this icon
Click on the first line, "About This Mac"
Most of these are numbers & that's what we want.
What version & Processor do you have?

  • HT204259 cannot update to iphoto 9.9.1  states not available in my country USA

Cannot update iphoto on Yosemite  air message from app store that upgrade unavailble in this country USA

Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

  • Cannot update my iPhoto after upgrading to Yosemite

27" iMac, 2.93 GHz i7 processor, Yosemite 10.10.  Can no longer use iPhoto after upgrading.  I get a message that this update is not available for this Apple ID because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.  How do I fix this?

You must be logged in using the Apple ID used to purchase iPhoto or to set up your Mac - If you are logged in with the Apple ID that was used to purchase iPhoto or to set up the computer if it came preinstalled then quit iPhoto, backup your iPhoto library  and drag the iphoto application to the trash (do not empty the trash yet) and then go to the App store and install iPhoto
If this does not allow you to upgrade then you need to contact App store support  - link i son the right of the app store window

  • Cannot Update my IPhoto 9, version 8.1.2

I just upgraded my Mac OS X to version 10.6.8. I tried to download the latest IPhoto for my Mac (version 9.4.3) as specifed on the Apple website, however after the download the installation is telling me it can only run on Macs with verson 10.7.5. What am I doing wrong? Which IPhoto upgrade should I be choosing?

You need an iLife 11 DVD(check sites such as Amazon or eBay) and the iPhoto 9.2.3 updater. Alternatively, you can upgrade your computer to Lion(you'll still need the DVD) or Mavericks if it's compatible.

If you can't obtain a retail install DVD from Apple, look on eBay or Google the installer part numbers to possibly find at an on-line store. Here's what to look for:

  • Cannot Update iPhoto, ask's me to log into account that purchased.

I cannot update my iphoto 9.4 or my imovie in app store. When I press update it requests for me to ' To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it.' however this is the account I used to purchase it.
I am not sure what to do. I have tried re-logging in but to no avail.

Contact App Store support. There's a link on the right hand side of the App Store Window. They're the only ones who can sort out account issues.

  • Bought used macbook pro, cannot update.

I bought a used macbook pro but I can't update. It says I have 2 updates. When I try to update, I ckick update and the original owner's email address pops up but will not let me change to my email address and password. I tried downloading os x mavericks. It took 2 hours to download. I restarted the computer and the original owner's name is still popping up asking for their password. HELP! I have tried everything

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You cannot remove the update notification. The only solution would be to remove those apps and do not install them anymore unless you buy them with your Apple ID.
If the apps you cannot update are iPhoto, iMovie and/or GarageBand, you should know that the first owner did not do things properly, because that could be solved simply by deauthorizing your Mac from the old owner's Apple ID. After doing that, you would be able to register the apps with your Apple ID and update them free of charge. If this is your case, contact with the old owner and tell him/her to contact with Apple to deauthorize the Mac > http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
If the apps that require the update are other ones, remove them. You are not allowed to run them, so if you want to run them, buy them with your Apple ID

  • I cannot update iphoto after installing Mavericks

I updated to Mavericks and now the app store is saying I have an update for iphoto. I cannot get the update, I am getting this error message " failed to verify preflight file. It is not signed by apple".  Is there spmethign that I am missing? I tried to donload the update 9.4.3 and when I attempt to install the update I am getting a message that says iphoto has to be updated through the app store. Any ideas ?

I solved this problem from a post I read on another thread (can't remember how I got there).  Here are the steps that fixed it for me:
    Close App Store
Go to Keychain Access, Preferences, Certificates tab
Change the OCSP and CRL to "best attempt"
Exit Preferences and then Keychain access
Restart (this may not be necessary, but it the next step I took)
Launch App Store, Purchases, Click on the one that would not install before - good luck
For me, it was iPhoto and iMovie, but I later discovered that no app would download, even new ones from under "Featured".  I also updraded a Mac Pro last night with Mavericks and it did not have this problem.  In checking later, I discovered that these preferences were already set as described above.

  • After upgrading to Mavericks cannot update iPhoto or iMovie

Update Unavailable with This Apple ID - This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.
I've browsed through the support communities and found numerous reports of this problem, but no consistant resolution.
Both iPhoto and iMovie came installed on my MacBook Pro (purchased Dec. 2010). Consequently, they were not purchased using an Apple ID.
I'm not sure about iMovie, but iPhoto has been updated in the 3+ years I have had this computer.
I just downloaded, and installed iPhoto 9.4.3 from the Apple website with no problem, but cannot update to 9.5.1.

Tried download next day and it was working normally. It must need a day to catch up.
