Cannot update tunes onto nano

Originally I had more tunes in my library than space on my nano for. I got the following message
The iPod "XX iPod" cannot be updated because there is not enough free space to hold all of the songs in the iTunes music library. Would you like iTunes to choose a selection of songs to copy to this iPod?"
I selected yes
"iTunes has created the playlist "XXX iPod Selection" using your music preferences and will update the iPod "XXXX iPod" with this playlist every time it is connected."
Yesterday I put in and removed more songs from the library and wanted to update the nano. As the library was smaller than the gig of the nano I deleted the 'XXXX play list' then clicked on update nano.
I got an error message stating I cannot update the nano as I have removed the play list. Now I have no songs on the nano. Any suggestions ? ?

It means that nano was used on a third-party software or synced from different computer to sync music. Does that nano show in iTunes? If yes, then restore completely. If not, then you may need to head to Apple Store and see what they can do.

  • Cannot update 6th gen iPod nano.

    Hi all,
I am trying to update music and software but I get the following message .... "The iPod ....... cannot update because it contains files that are in use by another application".
I have done a couple of resets and have tried the restore in iTunes a few times - both give the same message.
It has only ever been plugged into my mac.  The problem occured before upgrading to Lion and I had hoped that this would have been solved with the upgrade, but no such luck.
    Can anyone help please?
    Thanks
    Steve

I don't think so, how can I check this please?
Thanks for your answer though - very much appreciated.

    For the 1418:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304508
For the error, "files that are in use by another application", check the preferences on all your antivirus/antispyware software and make sure they are set not to scan iPods. If you are manually managing your music, set your preferences not ot scan external storage devices.

  • I am trying to download i tunes onto my pc but get an error saying that some old i tune files can not be deleted before reinstalling.

I am trying to download i tunes onto my pc (Windows XP) but get an error saying that some existing files can not be deleted to be re installed.  I have tried several time but to no avail.

    Many thanks, that's perfect.
The older version of apple software update cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group.
    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Apple Software Update entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) downloaded from the Apple Website:

Does it go through properly this time?

  • Error message iPod cannot update b/c all of the playlists no longer exist

Hello. I have been getting this error message. "Songs on the iPod "MAR(the name of my iPod)" cannot update because all of the playlists selecting for updating no longer exist." And my playlists are still on the left side in my iTunes. They do exist. I have a feeling ths might have to do with the fact that on vacation the person I was visiting gave me a gift of putting all of his music that would fit into the external hard drive part of my iPod, and for the past week or so I have been putting that music onto my 40 GB portable hard drive at home. I suspect I took a vital folder out of my iPod by accident. Right now I have the folder iPod_control if I open my iPod up in My Computer. Am I missing something? Right now my iPod is empty because iTunes made a composite playlist last week and I deleted it thinking I could get my real playlists back. Can you help me, or reccomend a site/someone who can? Thank you.

    hiya!
And my playlists are still on the left side in my iTunes. They do exist.
let's just doublecheck this. folks get this message if they have "automatically update selected playlists only" selected in their itunes "ipod" preferences tab. so bring up that tab ("edit > preferences", click "ipod" while the ipod is showing up in the source list), and do a playlist by playlist crosscheck of the playlists selected in that tab, and the playlists showing up in the itunes sourcelist.
is there any playlist selected in the preferences tab that isn't showing up in the sourcelist?
    love, b

  • HT4623 I cannot update my apps after upgrade to IOS8

I downloaded and installed IOS8 on IPad and IPhone. Now I cannot update my apps.

    No one knows why.
There are three options for folks
Use the purchased tab in iTunes to manually find each update and download it one at a time.
Use iTunes on your computer to find and download the updates then sync them onto your device (presuming you regularly sync to a computer)
Just wait it out and update when Apple fixes the issue.

  • How to put tunes onto ipad with itunes 11?

I had to upgrade to itunes 11.
Now I cant get any music onto my ipad.
I have about 400 albums riped from my CD collection, most of which have ID tags.
I can drag and drop the tracks into itunes, and I see them listed under "Albums" for example.
With the old itunes, I would simply drag them to the icon on the left panel for the ipad, and that was it.
Apple have chosen to remove this drag and drop functionality, and make it so unintuative, that a computer expert cannot get a single tune onto the ipad.
There is now an "iPad" button in the top right.  If I click on this I see the old tunes on my ipad.  But This "hides" the library on my PC, so no drag and drop is possible.
After spending 2 weeks trying every possible option, this is how far I ahve got:
    1) If I single click on the album in itunes, it shows the tracks un the bottom pane
1.1) If I click on the (>) arrow icon next to the album name, then "Add to", I can click on "my iPad".  However this does nothing.  If I now click on the "ipad"button, then "on this ipad", the album is not there.
1.2) If I click on a single track, and do the same above, now the track DOES apear in "on this ipad".  So I have to copy music one track at a time, no way to copy a whole album or multiple albums.  But wait! when I now check on the ipad, the tracks are not there!
There is a sync button under "on this ipad". this is a absolute disaster button. If I hit this, it simply hangs for 10+ hours (I left it over night). The problem is sync seems to be doing an unwanted backup. On the ipad are 20+ GB of kids movies.  These only exist on the ipad, they are rips of our kids DVDs. Under no circumstances do I want them backed up to the pc, and, even if I did, there is not space.  So sync is out.
I just want to copy some tracks to the ipad. Why is it so hard?  I ahve asked several friends with ipads, none of them have been able to do it either.  Is it now only possible to purchase tunes from the istore, not use any existing libraries?

Content is synced to iDevices in iTunes 11 the same way it is done in every previous version of iTunes.
    Connect the device.
Select the content desired to sync.
    Sync.

  • Can't get purchasedE video onto Nano even after selecting Advanced convert

I have a new Nano and have purchased 5 short videos from iTunes store. Firstly, when synching the error was "cannot be copied onto this iPod because they cannot be played on this iPod". I read in the forum that I should try selecting Advanced and then convert to ipod. When I do this, I get "Error occurred when converting. Unknown error (-3000)". Any ideas where I'm going wrong? The 5 videos were all purchased by me from iTunes store. Is it anything to do with the age of my mac? Thanks for any help.

Your first error happened to me this morning when I was using the iTunes on my computer for my boss's ipod nano. I has to go under Store/Authorize Account and then just followed the prompts. Now my problem is that I cannot see the movies that I purchased from the iTunes store on my ipod. I can see them in iTunes when my ipod is plugged in, but they are greyed out.
