Cannot update vault or generate new one

I am at my wits end. After many problems early on with Aperture 3, I thought I finally had it working. Aperture user since version 1 with about 11,000 images in managed library. When A3 came out, I updated immediately, and like many others, suffered a world of woe.
Due in no small part to issues I had with so many things like endless reprocessing, strange jpeg exports, off color previews and thumbnails, crashes, hangs, etc, I upgraded to eSATA external disks for the library and copied it to reduce fragmentation. Over the last couple of months, I have flushed caches, deleted plists, reimported, etc. During all of this time, I just made multiple copies of the library rather than update my vaults. I thought it was more or less working, and in the last few weeks I have finally been able to import some new projects (though not without drama if I do not just use a new project and move things later).
Recently, I started trying to update one of my Aperture 2 vaults. It gets about halfway through, then hangs forever. I have since discovered that I cannot generate a new vault at all. So far, I have tried a new vault, new vault with all other vaults deleted, flushing caches and deleting plists. I have run all three options of repair, repair permissions, and rebuild database from the cmd-opt startup menu, multiple times. Each of the latter times, I used a freshly formatted, empty disk (HFS+, journaled) and have tried eSATA and FW800.
When this version of the library was moved from A2, it was first allowed to process with faces off. I then turned on faces, and after another long while, it finished processing again. Places is off. There has been some flakiness with this iteration of the library in occasional jpeg exports looking very blue, a few images originally imported into A3 saying they were not and needing reprocessing, and rare hangs. I think it was done with 3.01, but am no longer sure.
Based on commentary by rw boyer about TIFF's causing issues, I rounded them all up, exported them, and deleted them from the active library, emptying the trash afterward. Still no joy. Still, I suspect a corrupted image or images in there somewhere.
I am sort of out of ideas. I could start over with last A2 library and re-import everything since, but that will take a lot of time. Any idea if it will work? Should I re-install A2 and rebuild that library first? Arghh!
In my humble opinion, Apple has really fumbled here. A3 is very ambitious, but just not ready for prime time. In the long wait for it, I spent some time with the Lightroom 3 beta. It is workable, and I will go to it if I have too, but really like Aperture better. I could also retreat to A2 and hope they fix this. I hope one of the good people in this discussion has a good suggestion.

If you want to clean up your hard drive some, here are some of my tips, also.
Hard drive getting full or near full?
Do a search for and downlaod and install OmniDisk Sweeper and OnyX.
Here are some of my tips for deleting or archiving data off of your internal hard
Have you emptied your iMac's Trash icon in the Dock?
If you use iPhoto, iPhoto has its own trash that needs to be emptied, also.
If you use Apple Mail app, Apple Mail also has its own trash area that needs to be emptied, too!
Other things you can do to gain space.
Delete any old or no longer needed emails and/or archive older emails you want to save to disc, Flash drive/s or to ext. hard drive.
Look through your Documents folder and delete any type of old useless type files like "Read Me" type files.
Again, archive to disc, Flash drive or ext. hard drive and/or delete any old documents you no longer use or immediately need.
Uninstall apps that you no longer use. If the app has a dedicated uninstaller, use it to completely uninstall the app. If the app has no uninstaller, then just drag it to the OS X Trash icon and empty the Trash.
Also, if you save old downloaded .dmg application installer files, you can either archive and delete these or just delete the ones you think you'll never install, again.
Download an app called OnyX for your version of OS X.
When you install and launch it, let it do its thing initially, then go to the cleaning and maintenance tabs and run all of the processes in the tabs. Let OnyX clean out all web browser cache files, web browser histories, system cache files, delete old error log files.
Typically, iTunes and iPhoto libraries are the biggest users of HD space.
If you have any other large folders of personal data or projects, these should be thinned out, moved, also, to the external hard drive and then either archived to disc, Flash drive or ext. hard drive and/or deleted off your internal hard drive.

If your computer's connection is slow then you can update your iOS from your phone.
Find a free, strong Wi-Fi network.
Go to Settings>General>Software Update>choose option "Download and Install"
Benefit: if you update phone through this method the actual download size will be only 30 to 50 MB only! and it works fine! if you try to download iOS from iTunes it will goes around 800MB.

Here are a bunch of things that you can try to get the downloads to resume.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again.
If all else fails, download the updates or the apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the content to your iPad.

Validator Cleaned existing formbean or generated new one

Hi buddies,
I'd like to use struts validator in my project. It seems working but cleaning existing formbean or generating new formbean.
The case is: after listing all customers, user can choose edit or delete one of them. Supposed (and it works correctly before I applied validator in) the Action will find the client and populate the appropriate field value into form bean, and the form bean is to be forward to edit jsp page. But now, in the fields on the edit jsp page are blank, just like create new record.
it took me 2 days, and cannot fix the problem. Please gave me some ideas. Your any input is appreciated.

Cannot Update Vault in Aperture 2

Today I started getting an error (actually 6 of them, all the same) when I try to update my vault. I am told "Aperture has detected a problem with the vault “Aperture Vault”. You need to remove this vault and create a new one." When I try to update the vault I get the "Comparing Library to Vault" barberpole for a while and then the error. Prior to today this vault file has been on the same drive for over a year and has worked flawlessly. I have done the following: 1) Deleted the old vault ad created a new one, 2) Deleted the Aperture plist file, 3) Repaired permissions on my boot drive and run Disk First Aid on the Western Digital MyBook (the drive is only 1/2 full) 4) Rebuilt the Library and run a Consistency Check 5) Trued putting the vault on any of my other drives.
None of this has worked, I still get the same error message. Any suggestions as to what to try next?

I had the same problem and tried about everything I found on this forum. None of it worked. Then I found the following two blog posts:

As I am not familiar with Terminal I did dare changing the settings. Trying via CMD-I didn't change anything.

Hooray! Removed the Flickr and Facebook plugins and everything is solved!
Guess, I'll need to upgrade to Aperture 3 since this functionality is now standard available. Was that done intentionally, dear Apple?

I have an older iMac and want to know if anyone thinks it is worth updating or buying a new one?

I have an 2008 imac but it is really out of date because I loaned it to my mom and got myself a laptop. Wondering if I should update it with OX or purchase a new one.

You don't say what OS that 2008 machine currently has. What you have could well be upgraded to 10.9. Mavericks. Snow Leopard is an excellent OS and the 10.6.8 upgrade (if it's needed) gives you App store too ... and that makes it a very useful computer. But upgrade the memory to 4GB
Okay, Apple no longer formally support it but they still provide security and iTunes updates ... so it isn't actually dead. And more important, any PPC apps that are currently on it are protected ... at least until you go into higher OSs.
I think I would be inclined to get all I can from the existing machine.

Using external HD. Cannot update vault. Asks to check permissions. Disk utility says OK

I am away using Aperturre on new MacAir and external HD as back up for recent photos and to house my vault. When I try to update vault, I have a permissions problem. I used Disk Util to repair MacAir and external HD and it says each is OK. Checked repair permissions from warning window that notified me I had a permissions problem. selected ext HD icon and "Get Info" and everything looks right. Next step to update my vauil?

On the Get Info windoe for the external drive at the bottom is a checkbox Ignore ownership on this volume.
If it is not checked check it and try again.

Are you losing the connection to iTunes on the iPad or the computer? You are saying that iTunes is updated. Of course iTunes is updated when you update the iOS software. That's a no brainer.
If you mean that iTunes is updated on the computer, that has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with downloading and updating apps on the iPad itself so changing the date on the iPad, signing in and out of the stores on the iPad .... Doing any of that on the iPad would have nothing to do with iTunes on your computer.
If .... you have not been able to connect to the iTunes or app stores at all on the iPad - try this ...
Settings>Privacy>Location Services>System Services (swipe to the bottom of the page to find this)>Location Based iAds>Off.
If the downloads are stalled or "waiting" - try these suggestions.

Issue ELM is sometimes not updating contacts it creates new ones

Hello experts,
we have the following problem. We have a list in ELM which contains ORG ID and contact ID. In additional it contains Name first; last name; E_mail adress and a set of marketing attributes. When I run the list with 651 eintries ELM creates in some cases new contacts instead of updating the existing one. All other contacts are updated properly.
When I then go to Tx BUPA_DEL delete the new ones and again run ELM with only the new created contacts inside the list ELM is updating the existing contacts and is not creating new ones. So it is shure that not the data contains any errors.
Any ideas why ELM is doing so?

thank you very much for the reply. I´m sorry but it not solves my problem. I have 651 Contact Persons and BP ID´s in the list. Very often for the same Account and everything works perfect. Only a very few times ELM is creating a new Contact instead of updating the existing one. in the case of the list with the 651 Contacts exactly two times.

EBS Supplier best practice to update vendor site code, update or create a new one

I have a question related to EBS Supplier vendor site code. Application lets you update the vendor site code, but what is the best practice to update the site code?....would you inactivate the exiting one and create a new one? or would you just update the existing value?

My workaround was to put in my TaskFlow an action to commit. After that I put two more actions (execute) and then back to my page. This way works but I would like to know if there is any more efficient way to do this just when I am inserting.

Bookmarks got deleted on firefox 4 installation and i cannot restore them or add new ones. how to fix?

ok so the other day i upgraded my firefox to 4 but when it opened i had no bookmarks and could not even add new ones or restore ones from previous days. I cannot drag website onto the bar where you could have button shortcuts either. I would really like to know if i could fix this because I want my bookmarks back.

hello 43kogjvdl94, maybe the file in your profile that holds your bookmarks and history got corrupted. maybe try to rename/delete it so that it will be regenerated (please make a backup first before you proceed): go to ''firefox > help > troubleshooting information'', click on ''profile folder/show folder'' and close all firefox windows afterwards. a windows explorer window should open up - in there rename the file named '''places.sqlite''' - and restart firefox again. your history will be gone, but you should be able to restore your bookmarks through the bookmarks library > import & backup > restore...

ISE's Internal Root CA. How to generate new one in distributed deployment?

I have two ISE nodes in distributed deployment. I would like to generate new Internal Root CA certificate. I was able to do that from primary node, but only FOR primary node. How can I achieve this for the other node?

Hi Marek-
All of the certificate management is performed from the Admin Node which becomes the Root CA for the ISE PKI. You generate Subordinate CA certificates to your Policy Nodes from the Primary Admin node. Check this link for more info:

Also, since the primary node is the Root CA, you should export the certificate and the private key and import it to your secondary Admin node. This will enable the secondary node to be promoted to a Root CA in case of a failure of the primary admin node:

Cannot update phone/add a new line after updating plan

I updated my data plan to a shared family plan and now would like to upgrade one of the phones and also add a new phone but can't - it says 'order still pending".How long do I need to wait?

If you are trying to do this all online, it won't happen. The new shared plan probably won't go into effect until your next billing cycle. And the Verizon website is notorious for only being able to do one thing at a time. To upgrade the plan, add a line, and get new phones all at once is more than it can handle.
So, what you need to do is call Customer Service (800-922-0204) and complete the changes with a rep on the phone, or go into a store to do the transactions. Or wait for one change to take effect, then make another - but it could take a long time doing it that way.
