Cannot upgrade from LR4 to LR6

Hello, I am stuck.. I purchased the LR6 upgrade from LR4 and Adobe says that my product key in invalid. I need help please..

Hi ssprengel, I have a LR6 product key that does begin with 1160, I purchased the upgrade from adobe.com and paid the $85 upgrade charge. I am trying to install the new version and I enter the new product key that I was given when I made the purchase, the installation setup then asks for my old product key which I then enter (from my LR4 key) and a warning pops up saying that it is "invalid." It is not, invalid, I purchased LR4.
Basically it won't let me move forward without accepting my old LR4 key.. What do I do now?

You cannot upgrade from Oracle 9.2 database to 10.2.0.3 on Solaris. You can upgrade to 10.2.0.2, then to 10.2.0.3 There is a serious problem though doing a direct upgrade, the database will not function. You get

Has anyone got around this problem yet? Metalink is trying to fix the problem, but hasn't had any luck yet. Tired of having two different 10G directories on servers when migrating databases. Also was horrible during the first upgrade to discover the problem. It has been tested and is a known problem with the Oracle 10.2.0.3 patch (along with 2 other bad issues on 10.2.0.3 patch).

I have had no issues going from 9.2.0.7 to 10.2.0.3 three weeks ago in our staging environment, since then I have not seen any problem.
Installed 10.2.0.1 base applied 10.2.0.3 pactchset to the same oracle home.
The catupgrd.sql script upgraded the following components in my database.

J’ai acheté LR 4 il y a 1 an avec le n° de série sur la boite. J’ai acheté l’upgrade pour LR 5 et je n’ai jamais pu installer la version définitive avec ce n° de série.Ce n° de série n'est pas valide. La durée version d’essai est terminée et donc je dois retourner à LR 4 pour continuer à travailler ? Pourquoi cela ne fonctionne pas?

n° IEE2014000174985 mais je n'ai pas de trace d'un nouveau n° de série. Il n'est pas sur la facture, ni dans le logiciel?

The "teacher/student version" is a special offer for a full version purchase. The software is in fact identical to the regular full version being sold. Once you have purchased the license key it is fully functional and allows you to upgrade at the normal upgrade price.
If you still qualify for the "teacher/student version" you can purchase another full license for LR 5 at the discounted price which is the same as the upgrade price.

John: I back up the catalogue (and optimize/check its integrity) every time I quit Lightroom - which is why excluding it from Time Machine isn't the end of the world. I did rename the catalogue early on in my troubleshooting process - as you say, I didn't like the fact I felt out of control of it.
I tried synchronizing a folder that had some flags: when I'd done there were three flags in the folder. (I have unclicked - and clicked and then unclicked - the 'unsaved metadata' checkbox in View Options: as I say, Lightroom shouldn't be displaying these flags at all.)
Rob: Thanks for understanding why I'm fretting! I've checked my XMP sidecars, as you suggest, and they have read and write privileges. I then checked the last-modified date on the XMPs that came up with flags after I'd synchronized that folder. One of them displayed the time I'd just synchronized the folder (it's one I haven't worked on apart from applying a blanket preset in LR2, and then a blanket update to PV2012 in LR4, as I've done to all the images I haven't yet worked on individually); the other two showed the time (I presume) I worked on them yesterday. I selected these three and applied command-S: they then showed, correctly, that they'd been modified a minute before. So far, that folder's now flag-free. (As I said in my original post, the flags sometimes do seem to vanish if I save enough times - and they're unpredictable, not necessarily appearing on the same images in a collection or folder as before I do I group save/clear conflict.)
Mollysnoot: I don't see how the Mac OS would be doing this (although who knows - I'm not a software expert). I don't have any other programs open that can modify images. And since these flags can reappear instantly when I've dealt with the conflict - before I've had time to take a breath, even - I don't think they represent any actual modifications.

Any tips for upgrading from LR4 to LR5

I am just about to attempt my upgrade from LR4 (student edition) to full-fledged LR5. Any hints or tips on how to redirect LR4 directories, etc. to LR5? Other tips for the install? (Obviously, I've backed up my computer prior to starting.)

Your "full-fledged" Lightroom 5 will be no different than the student version of Lightroom 5, because there is only one Lightroom program. You'll have new features in Lightroom 5, of course. But don't expect anything extraordinary because there is no difference. All you have to do is install Lightroom 5. Since it is an upgrade, it will look for that serial number from your Lightroom 4, and then you will have to enter the new serial number for Lightroom 5. When Lightroom starts it will find your previous catalog and will offer to upgrade it to the appropriate format. The original Lightroom 4 catalog will be left as it was, and completely usable by Lightroom 4. After the upgrade process completes you should be able to see all the images and all the work that you did in Lightroom 4, but you will be using the new program. It's a very straightforward process.

Had similar problem couple days ago. Through trouble shooting articles I found that Lightroom does not overwrite Lightroom 5 So I installed it and install Lightroom CC Works fine But I still have trouble to update from Creative Cloud desktop shows error U43M1D204,this is on going problem Take care

Cannot upgrade to LR4 - I have LR3

I purchased LR 3 online from Adobe's website via download on 2/1/11. ( It was $299 then!).
Anyway, I received an email yesterday announcing the LR 4 upgrade availability. After logging in to my account on the Adobe site, I attempted to purchase the upgrade. I selected it & placed it in my cart. When I go to the checkout page I get this:
Notice that the State/Province box gives me nothing but "Select". No matter whether I select PayPal or Credit Card for the payment option and then hit "Review Order", I always get an error stating that I must select a State/Province!!!!
I know this is not necessarily a support forum. I have spent hours on hold to Adobe support/customer service. I tried chat as well, which was a total waste of time. One time I got a live person on the phone & he claimed that I must purchase the boxed version, which would be shipped to me. After explaining to him that I had originally purchased & downloaded LR 3 online last year, giving him my original order number, he did not know what to tell me & transferred me to the "eternal hold' abyss known as "Customer Service". I have yet to reach a live person in that department after hours of hold time & cut-offs on Adobe's end.
I even tried downloading the trial version of LR4 from the website & cannot even do that!
I am really getting fed up with Adobe. LR is great software & I thank the developers for that. Now they need to "develop" some customer service.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Update:
While waiting on a response from Adobe about my problem, I tried again to download the LR4 trial - which was always unsuccessful using IE9. This time I used Google Chrome & was able to download the LR4 trial. I never had any download issues before with IE9 - from Adobe or any other site.
I called and emailed the Adobe rep & let her know I had downloaded & installed the LR4 trial using Chrome, but the checkout issue was still the same - could not make payment.
I received a response the following day stating that I would receive a free upgrade to LR4 in compensation for my trouble.
This was an unexpected surprise! They are to be issuing my LR4 serial number within the next few days.
