Cannot Upgrade to 9.2.2 using Apple Download updates

Ok, Some recent hardware changes, and to outright avoid conflicts, I decided to completely wipe (zero data) on my master HDD that had 9.2.2. After the initialization, I proceeded to install 9.0.4 from my original CD-ROM. After this, I proceeded to download and install OS 9.1 and no problems with that. It took a couple of attempts, but that is only because I elected to install language packs, and a CD upgrade is necessary. Did it with out the language pack, and everything was fine.
Now I downloaded the next upgrade that would let me have OS 9.2.1, however, when the download completes, I get this pop up that tells me the smi won't mount error -127 and it is stuck in a loop. I can do a proper shutdown/restart to get past this. After a restart, I see the smi and when I double click, The verification says that it cannot complete the operation. Checksum values do not match.
Why is it all of a sudden this update cannot work? I had recently rebuilt my machine and was able to proceed through all updates before. Has anyone out there experienced the same thing?
I am thinking of possible solutions:
1. Download the 9.2.1 in the multi part
2. Try installing the International English version for that update only.
3. baseball bat... just kidding!
Please let me know any other suggestions you may have.
Hardware changes included upgrade of AGP graphics card from Rage 128 to Radeon 128 with DVI and S-Video Output. Addition of 128 MB RAM. Installed a combo drive as well. All parts work, and have had no problems.

There are several solutions & meanings for Error 127(positive) & Error -127(negative).
That error is most commonly caused by Stuffit Expander intruding where it should not. The download is in a .smi (self-mounting image) format, a format generated by Apple's Disk Copy. Stuffit Expander has ShrinkWrap technology built-in, which allows it to mount some kinds of disk images - but not .smi ones. Yet ShrinkWrap tries to - hence the error message.
The solution - double-click Stuffit Expander, and open its Preferences (under the File menu). Select "Disk Images" from the list on the left, then turn off "Mount Disk Images". Quit Stuffit Expander.
Please post back your results.

  • Is it true that Sky channels cannot be mirrored to a TV using Apple TV?

I am told that some or all Sky channels cannot be mirrored from iPad to TV using Apple TV. Is this correct? If not, why is it not working?

In Acrobat Pro 7-10 (I think) it was possible to save an Acrobat Form with extended rights to enable saving a form including the field-contents with acrobat reader.
To use this feature for more then 500 individual users / returned filled forms you had to optain special licences or use adobe lifecycle server (according to the EULA of Adobe Acrobat).
As far as I understand, any form created with any adobe pro-Version is saveable inlcuding it's filled-in contents with adobe reader 11 (again, as reader 5 was able to do that aswell long time ago...).
So is there any need for special payed licences (like per-form licences or adobe lifecycle servers) any more for providing fillable forms on a company website (i. e. unknown number of potential users / returned filled forms)?
    edit:
Is there any legal difference according to that 500-forms-limitation between receiving the extend forms as email-attachement, printed form and according to the way the returned forms are processed (i. e. scanning those forms, reading those forms with acrobat pro or any other reader-client)?
Thanks in advance for your reply!
    Sincerely

  • Cannot open videos on shared photostream using apple devices

All members  of our shared photostream are unable to open posted videos. Pictures are present.  This affects only those using Apple devices, i.e. iPhones & iPads all models.  People who are viewing the photostream on a Windows device are able to see the videos.

Just started having this issue as well!
I can view the shared videos in iPhoto via my iMac but not a single one of my iOS devices will play the videos.

  • X11 not starting after upgrading to 10.5.4 using the combo update

Because of a bug in Package Maker included with XCode 3.1 I ended up breaking my complete OS. After re-installing Leopard and using the Combo Update to 10.5.4 I am not able to run X11. I was able to use it prior to re-installing, but then I got the upgraded incremental via the online update.
It reports this on the console (a lot)
/usr/X11/libexec/x11-exec: Unable to find application for org.x.X11
It seems that this has already been reported to Apple, who acknowledged it as a bug. Is there any new from Apple on if / when / how this issue can be resolved other then by installing a separate application ? Will installing the Xquartz package allow me to install the fix when it becomes available ?

Search these forums for X11. There's been some recent traffic on X11.

  • Upgrade to 10.9.3 from Apple download (not App Store)

I have several Macs, all operating on 10.9.2.  I'd like to upgrade them to 10.9.3.  However, where I live I have a very slow internet and the process takes days just to get the download from the App store.
I know Apple has websites where the OSX upgrades can be downloaded.  I'd like to download the upgrade once to a file and then use it offline separately for each Mac.
I know this can be done as I had an Apple Technician do this to a MacBook Air recently, using the 10.9.2 he had on an external drive.
I didn't pay careful attention to how he did this, so I am now uncertain of the process.  Any counsel would be appreciated.

    Thanks Csound.
I know where to get the download.  It is the process of using the download I am uncertain about.
The technician had downloaded the upgrade into an external HDD (the one who assisted me upgrading to 10.9.2). He then connected the HDD to my MacBook and proceeded with the upgrade using the downloaded file.
I need to know what steps are taken with the 10.9.3 upgrade which will be downloaded.
Do I just double click (or some other action) and follow the instructions?

  • How to Use Apple Software Update w/ ARD 2.2

There must be a way - but I haven't figured it out yet - to use ARD 2.2 to control Apple Software Update on client computers. Is it simply to take control of each computer one at a time and run Software Update? If so, that doesn't simplify things much over actually going to each computer in my lab. I'm hoping there's a more automated, streamlined way to do it. Please let me know the secret - if there is one!
    Thanks!

  • Cannot upgrade software on sensor due to digital signature update file

Attached is a jpg of the error message when trying to apply update through IDM for the latest version:
    IPS-SSM_20-K9-sys-1.1-a-7.0-6-E4.img
I've downloaded the image twice now from Cisco.  I've done a token reboot but that didnt help.
I did apply the recovery image right before this with no issues.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    J

You've experience a very common area of confusion.
There are multiple different file types of the same version.
Some of which can be applied through IDM and CLI, and otherwise which can only be applied through other methods.
    Basic Types:
    System Images
    Recovery Packages
    Uprgade Packages
System Images have "-sys-" in the filename and generally end in .img.
These files can Not be installed through IDM or the CLI.
These files will erase the entire compact flash and install a completely new image on the system.
These files are generally only used when trying to get back to an Older image, or when you believe that the current image on the sensor has been Corrupted.
They are not recommended for upgrading as the configuration of the sensor will be completely removed during erasing of the compact flash.
They are installed through either ROMMON (on appliances), from the hw-module recover command of the ASA (on ASA IPS modules), through the bootloader (on AIM and NME router modules), or through the maintenance partition (in the IDSM2 Cat 6K module).
In your case it was a System Image you were trying to install through IDM, which is not allowed.
Recovery Packages have "-r-" in the filename and end in .pkg.
They will re-image the Recovery partition of the sensor.
They are installed using IDM or the CLI upgrade command.  (.pkg files work with the Upgrade command)
The "recover" command on the sensor can then be used to boot to the Recovery Partition and re-image the Application partition to that version.
The "recover" can be done from a remote box through an SSH connection to the sensor.  Unlike System Images which often require a Console connection or connection to the hosting device.
Recovery Packages are recommended when you believe that the current image on the sensor has been Corrupted.
They can often be used for Downgrading to an older version, but this is not officially supported (and will sometimes fail, if it fails then you need to use a System Image instead).
Upgrade Packages come in different types.
Major, Minor, and Service Pack upgrade files do not have a designator in their name, and usually just have the platform and version.
Signature Updates have "-sig-" in the name.
Engine Updates have "-engine-" in the name.
All Upgrade Packages end in .pkg.
Upgrade Packages can be installed using IDM or the CLI upgrade command.
In your situation you want to download the Upgrade file for 7.0-6-E4 instead of the System Image file.
Because the SSM-20 has the common architecture it will use the standard upgrade file that does not list the platform name.
The package you want is IPS-K9-7.0-6-E4.pkg.

  • Cannot upgrade an AP to LWAP using the upgrade tool on Windows 7

    Hello,
I have two Windows 7 computers and neither one will successfully upgrade a 1242 AP to LWAP.  However, I go to a coworker's XP machine and run the tool without issues.  On Windows 7 I keep receiving the error message of ACL or Firewall is blocking.  I have added rules and then even tried disabling the firewalls completely on both computers and still no success.  Help!
    Thanks,
    Kristen Woodard

As an aside here, if the AP are newer, manufactured after 6/2005(Has a MIC and not a SSC), you can do a normal archive download command to run the upgrade to the recovery image.  Can even be scripted to run multiple times via shell/cron

  • Re: HP Product Support using Apple Software Updates for new OS X 10.9 Mavericks

I have a similar problem on my macbook pro. I had to call tech support for my extended warranty the last 2 times a new firmware update was released after installing. I always update from the apple updates on my laptop and am using the HPOfficeJet Pro 8600 plus. Its the best printer I ever had but there appears to be issues when using the airplay wireless connection.

    Hi @Obiwon4luke,
I not certain I understand, I did go back and read some of your older posts though to try to better understand the issue. It sounds like you are experiencing an intermittent connection with your 8600 Plus, is this correct? I see you have contacted phone support several times and have been able to get a temporary solution each time. What sorts of things have they tried? Knowing what you have done up to this point may help me identify the root cause and work towards a more permanent solution.

  • Using Apple TV Updates

I have looked at all the discussion boards to find a solution and I have not found one yet. I need help with updating my apple tv. I have tried to restore it but it fails. My network signal is 5 bars so i know it is not the internet. What else could it be?

A few days ago, someone reported they'd been told this week, earlier today someone reported they'd been told tomorrow. Perhaps that is promising however it seems clear the problem has been one of more than a trivial nature, so I'm not sure how accurate these estimates are or indeed whether we can rely on the reports to begin with.

Should work from CS6 to update ACR to 8.1. If not, you will find some help and a direct link here: http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/2013/06/camera-raw-8-1-and-dng-converter-8-1-now-a vailable.html and there is no need to sign for the cloud to update current CS6 AFAIK.

  • Installing Apple downloads/updates--how do I determine what I need?

After searching for a number of downloads that are referenced in the discussions as possible fixes, I am trying to sort out which I should install on my imac. For instance, I see that the Graphics Update 1.0 and the Time Machine update (addressing the interface with Time Capsule) have helped solve some issues.
Looking at the release date for both these updates, I see that the 10.5.3 combo update, which I installed, is more recent. As a matter of practice, can I assume that the Graphics Update and the Time Machine update are included in the combo update because they were released prior? I looked in the details on the Combo update page, but I didn't see specifics as to what previous downloads it included.
I would like to know how one knows which updates, or other downloads, one should install.
I've had a number of performance issues since installing the combo update. They include:
    -machine running slowly
-many freezes that require shut down
-force quit does not always work
-Time Machine will not find the backup volume after the mac has gone to sleep (this happens with Firewire only, USB seems to work)
In addition to the question of how as a matter of practice to determine which downloads I should install, and how to figure out which downloads/updates I already have after installing a system update such as the Combo 10.5.3, if anyone has any solutions for my list of issues, please comment.
    Thanks,
