Cannot upload to .Mac homepage!

I'm having the same problems many others are having. iPhoto 5.0.1 works fine in all aspects except for uplaoding to my .Mac webpage. I get the long drawn out "updating themes followed by a "connection cannot be established at this time. Please make sure connection is active" malarky. I've done everything suggested in the thread Katy Scroggins, "iPhoto 5 & Homepage", 10:33am Mar 12, 2005 CDT several times and to no avail. Any wise people out there?

Hi Rob
I was/am having the same problem that you are. I have not found a solution
but there is a workaround that you can do to get your photos on homepage.
Select the photos you want on your homepage. From the iPhoto menu select
share>export. Select the file export tab. Adjust the size by selecting "scale images..." (unless you want large photo files on your website). I use 480x640.
you might also want to make sure the format drop down menu is selected to jpg, or tiff if you prefer. Click on export and choose your destination to save the files in. It's easiest to save them in a new folder on the desktop.
After that, all you have to do is drag that new folder containing the newly exported photos to the Pictures folder on your iDisk.
Now all you have to do is log into .mac, go to homepage and create your web page from there. You will be able to access your photos from the iDisk.
It takes a little more effort, but I actually like this method better because it allows me to name the folders on the iDisk. Making it easier to manage my iDisk because by looking at the name of the folders I know what is in them, rather than having some numerical name for each folder.
Hopefully this helps. Until Apple fixes the problem, this is the best way I know.

  • IMovie uploaded to .mac Homepage won't play

Uploaded an iMovie to my homepage on .mac. Took 90 minutes to compress. The listing shows up on my homepage, but when selected, all that appears is the quicktime symbol- no movie. Any suggestions?
iBook 1.42 Ghz Power PC G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Thanks. I saved the quicktime movie to idisk and then selected a theme, chose the movie and published it. Still, no quicktime movie when I select it. I tried the quicktime movie when it was sitting in the movie folder of idisk on my desktop and it worked fine. I am not quite sure what step I am missing. I erased the movie off of the home page and tried it again, but to no avail.
I also did not understand what you meant when you said to load it to idisk, but not the local copy. There only seems to be one copy, the icon on my desktop. I am fairly new to the Mac world, so let me know if I am overlooking something crucial.

  • Mini mac will not register my digital camera. It connected the first day and I was able to upload some video; however, I pulled the USB out--there was a bad message--and I cannot get the mac to register that I plug it back in.

It connected the first day and I was able to upload some video; however, I pulled the USB out--there was a bad message--and I cannot get the mac to register that I plug it back in.

Have you downloaded everything that is on the camera? If so format the SD card on the camera (will erase everything on the card).
If you have not downloaded everything can you see stuff on the camera? If you have a card reader you could try putting the SD card in that and trying on the mini. If your mini has a SD card slot you could try that.
In any case format the card on the camera before taking more pics.
Next time be sure to eject the camera from the Mac properly and turn the camera off before disconnecting.
EDIT: You might also check the camera's USB Mode is set to PC.

  • Publishing on .Mac Homepage

I am trying to publish a new album in my iPhoto 6.0.4 to my .MAC homepage. I have done this before and all I did was hit a button in iphot and the pictues were published. I cannot find the button in the updated iPhoto. I do not want to photocast or send the album to iWeb. I just want to publish the photos on my .MAC homepage.
Can anyone tell me how to do this PLEASE.....
    Thank you.

(I have plenty of storage space...)

You can do it manually with the following workflow:
1 - export the files you want to a folder on the desktop, resizing them to the size you want for the media files. For example I use 640 x 480.
2 - give the folder a short name that identifies the event of the photo.
3 - mound your iDisk and copy that folder to the Pictures folder on the iDisk. (Tip: using Transmit will reduce the upload time by up to a factor of 5 or 6. At least in my experience. No need to mount the iDisk in the Finder).
4 - to to the .Mac web site and log in.
5 - click on the Homepage button.
6 - in the Homepage window select the folder you just uploaded and click the Add button.
    From there it's self explanatory.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

  • I cannot upload photos from iPhoto 9 to Flikr. When I attempt to do so, I get the message "the login details or auth token passed were invalid." Please help.

I cannot upload photos from iPhoto 9 to Flikr. When I try, I get the message "the login details or auth token passed were invalid."  I am using iPhoto 9 version 8.1.2, and my OS is 10.9.5. My computer is a MacBook Pro. I do not have this trouble with my iMac.  This trouble started before I updated to OS10.9.5.  I do not have this problem when uploading to FaceBook or sending by e-mail.
This problem started when I tried to upload some photos after hitting the "use other account" tab. This took me to a Flikr site asking me for permission to make my iPhoto information available to others.  I clicked "yes," and then I changed my mind and clicked "no." I haven't been able to upload to Flikr since.
I searched Flikr and Yahoo for a solution, and Yahoo says the trouble is in iPhoto.  I checked my Flikr account, and iPhoto extensions are enabled.
I need to upload some school and alumni photos, so I sure could use some help. I am Not computer proficient.  Thank you.

    1. You did not get an error message telling you that your iPhoto library was getting full. You got a message telling you that your HD was getting full, right?
OS X needs about 10 gigs of hard drive space for normal OS operations - things like virtual memory, temporary files and so on.
Without this space your Mac will slow down as the OS hunts for space on the disk, files will be fragmented, also slowing things down, apps will crash and the risk of data corruption - that is damage to your files, photos, music - increases exponentially.
Your first priority is to make more space on that HD. Nothing else can be done until you do.
Purchase an external HD and move your Photos and Music to it. Both iPhoto and iTunes can run perfectly well with the Library on an external disk.
Your Library has been damaged from being run on an overfull disk.
How much free space on it now?

  • .Mac Homepage vs. iWeb

Prior to upgrading to iLife 06, I uploaded photo albums to my .Mac homepage. Now that I am running iLife 06, by default I can only publish photos from iPhoto using iWeb. I noticed that publishing using iWeb creates a site address of ...web.mac.com/xxxxx. So what happens to my ...homepage.mac.com/xxxxx site? Is this site now defunct because I can't seem to republish existing photo albums to my "homepage" site. Hope this makes sense.

    17 " PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

My only complaint so far, aside from the poor blogging implementation, is that when making changes, it republishes all sites, instead of simply republishing the page with the change.
I've tested it with only one site, and now with two, and each change results in iWeb republishing all information, which seems wasteful to me. So, if I have more than one photo page, which I normally do, it wastes time and bandwidth republishing all the pages for all sites, regardless of whether there's any changes.
That's about the only thing I prefer about publishing photos to Homepage, the speed in posting photo sites.
iWeb seems comparable to Macromedia's Contribute product in terms of design and usage (albeit missing Contribute's greater layout flexibility and customization), and certainly its integration with iPhoto and .Mac gives it greater potential.

  • Cannot upload to vimeo

since yesterday i cannot upload videos to Vimeo... when i try it, it takes like 10sec to pop up: Share Successful (which cannot be true!) ... then i log in on Vimeo and then appears: Download was a failure. ... I gotta said that the first time i try yesterday it appeared that i could not upload the video cause of a compression failure on my mac or something like that. But that just appeared once... after it, every time i upload something takes 10sec to pop up the message.
What is that? ... Why is iMovie such a pain in the ... HEAD!? every week i open it, it is something new...

The project did render to 100%, then I tried a compressor share function that worked fine.  But, when I tried the same compressor share function again, it did not work.  I still cannot get DVD share function to work.  Problems started when they did an upgrade.  I never had a problem with certain share functions like DVD (always had trouble with Facebook, Vimeo, understandable).  I could get around some problems by using Compressor, now compressor is not working.

The Deskjet series printers connect to wireless networks with what is called USB to Wireless.
You will need a supported operating system to connect a Deskjet to a wireless network.  Supported operating systems to connect the printer to a wireless network are Windows 7 (32bit and 64bit), Windows Vista (32bit and 64bit), and Mac OS X (10.5, 10.6, and 10.7).
While there is a software download option for Linux distributions, this is not the full featured software that is capable of adding the printer to a wireless network.  Most printers have a wireless setup wizard to accomplish this task, but the Deskjet series printers connect in a different way.
Once the printer is connected to a wireless network,  HPLIP 3.12.4 drivers should be able to locate the printer.
Click on Installing the Product Software for a Wireless Network Connection to receive instructions to connect to a wireless network using Windows and Mac operating systems.
Click on Software & Driver Downloads - HP Deskjet 3070A e-All-in-One Printer - B611a to download the appropriate software for a supported operating system to connect to a wireless network.

  • Can I clone a .mac Homepage to iWeb?

I would like to clone my old .mac Homepage (still active) to iWeb. One complication is some of the links were password protected and I neglected to unprotect them before Homepage went away.
    Howard

You will eventually be able to access Homepage according to .Mac: System Status says members cannot access the HomePage application and this statement in your Me page:
    "*System Status*
MobileMe members may be unable to access groups.mac.com.
MobileMe members cannot access the HomePage application. Service will be restored ASAP. We apologize for any inconvenience.
It just may take a few days. Otherwise you could try copying the Homepage folder for your site from it's current location to the iDisk/Web/Sites folder and see if that might open it up. The URL would be different.
