Hi, I've got an iPhone 4S and I want to put my debit card details on my iTunes. Whenever I put the information in it says your payment method was declined i know I can use it because my sister has got exactly the same debit card as me. Please someone help thank you.

HT1918 Couldn't use debit card with iTunes store

I opened a new bank account. When I tried updating my debit card in iTunes it didn't work. I got a message saying "Your credit card does not match your bank's records." The same thing happened to me a year ago when I opened a new account. After a few weeks it worked. This must be common. Has anyone else had this problem?

Cannot use debit card

I cannot use my debit card to make purchases or even update applications on iTunes. I would enter the rite information and it will still decline my card. I called up bank of America to see if they had placed any restrictions and thy said no. They told me that it was an issue with iTunes. Please contact me ASAP

Cannot use any cards with iTunes

I recently got a new debit card from my bank so iTunes asked me to update my card info. Problem is that none of my cards work. My new card is a Visa Debit card whereas my old one was a maestro card and it used to work fine. I also tried my Mastercard and that didn't work either.
What am I supposed to do? I can't even download free apps.

I've got exactly the same problem - Nat West have changed my latest card from Maestro to Visa Debit, but there isn't an option to chose this in iTunes, and it doesn't accept my number if I click Maestro.
I've just asked the bank, and they were really surprised iTunes hasn't been updated - apparently Maestro is being phased out because it's not recognised overseas.
I don't want to use my credit card, because I try to limit it's use - so now I can't download anything! And what happens when my mobileme account comes up for renewal?!
I've emailed Apple, so I'll let you know what they reply...

What happens when you try to add it to your account ? Debit cards don't appear to still be accepted in all countries, and (based on what some people have posted) even where are still accepted it seems that not all cards are.
For a card to have a chance of being accepted it needs to be registered to exactly the same name and address (including format and spacing etc) that you have on your iTunes account, and have been issued by a bank in the country where you and your iTunes account are. You can't tell which device a purhcase was made on, but if your family members each have their own iTunes account to which your card is linked then you can check the purchase history on each of those accounts via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes - that should have 'purchase history' section with a 'see all' link to the right of it

I believe if you haven't already setup an itunes account, if you have access to computer with iTunes installed , you can create an iTunes account on that computer with no credit/debit card and then just buy iTunes cards at your local retailer to get credits.

Is the address on your iTunes account exactly the same (format and spacing etc) as on your credit card bill : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1646 ? If it is then you could try what it says at the bottom of that page :
If the issue persists, contact your credit card company and verify that they and any company they use to process credit card authorisations have the correct information on file.
And/or try contacting iTunes support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page
