Cannot use Dreamweaver

I was using my version of Dreamweaver CS3 fine but now it
says "Product License has Expired". There's nothing wrong with my
license key but there is no opportunity to reenter it anywhere, it
just gives me this message and then closes.
My question is this: Where can I reenter my product key or
enter a new one when I get one from Adobe?

I'm getting to the bottom of the list and with no replies,
please help.

  • Cannot use Dreamweaver CS6 because of "running for long time" script issue

Started getting this error yesterday, it’s killing me....
Dialog box says: "A script in file ~:Applications:ADOBE CS6:Adobe Dreamweaver CS6:Configuration:Shared:BC:JS:bc_sites.js has been running for a long time.  Do you want to continue?"
The message keeps persisting almost everytime I try to edit something, the Yes or No options don’t seem to do anythin other than remove the dialogue box temporarily.
Searched for a solution to this but only found unanswered questions, so I uninstalled the app, re-installed it and all seemed to be ok for a short while and now the issue is back.
I’m using business catalyst and like the improved imtegration, but this is broken!!
    Please Help..

    very bland support me thinks...
I'm a strong supporter of DW and Adobe, but it's one of the reasons I'm not in the Cloud or using BC.  Support is charged at a per-incident or corporate rate: http://www.adobe.com/support/programs/ .
You can try trashing that Configuration folder ( http://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/kb/troubleshoot-javascript-errors-dreamweaver-cs4.html - See steps 12 & 4 for details).  But that's about the extent of community support here for most technical issues.  Seeing as how you have only 3 posts since April  you probably were not around the last time customers spoke up and complained and prompted the Lambert Walsh letter almost 3 years back now. ( http://blogs.adobe.com/captivate/2009/08/open_letter_to_our_customers_o.html ).  Just don't be afraid to speak up or write to Adobe, they will listen.

  • Cannot use Dreamweaver or Photoshop, nor download updated Application Manager

I have a Creative Cloud account, which is charged to my credit card each month. In the past week or so, something has changed, for I can no longer get into either Dreamweaver or Photoshop CS6. I am running Vista 64 bit. I get a screen which says that my trial period has expired, then when I click "License this Software," it tells me it will log me in, then comes up with a Serial Number page, and I do not have a Serial Number, at least not that I know of. Can anyone out there help me out?
    Thanks.

    next time properly uninstall software.
at this point undelete the deleted dw and then properly uninstall.
if you're unable to do that, try solution 2 here - CC desktop lists applications as "Up to Date" when not installed

  • Cannot delete files using dreamweaver

I just updated a site to the latest version of PHP and MySql. I find that while I can upload new files to the site, I cannot delete either existing or new files using Dreamweaver CS6.
Has anyone else had this problem?
    Howard Walker

Have you tried with a different FTP client?
This sounds like a LINUX permissions/ownership issue. Upgrading PHP would not change the permissions/ownership, unless something else happened during the process, such as that the files were moved to a different location.
The way PHP runs affects permissions/ownership (DSO, CGI, suPHP, etc.), but even if that changed I don't think it would affect the permissions set on your site files.

Obviously, as seen above, I'm doing something wrong or Live View does not do all the functions that Design View use to do.  I realize I can still access Design View in non-Fluid Grid Layout documents and that is my current work-around.  I copy from my Word file into Design View available in non-Fluid, then copy that code into my Fluid Grid Layout document, not real efficient use of my time.  And, even that work-around may not be available after the next upgrade.

Hans thank you for your reply and attention to this matter.  Moreover, with your steeped expertise I do not, in any fashion, intend to be flippant or capricious.
However, I do not believe the reply is on point since I'm not discussing the insertion of an HTML tag/element; but rather, the placing of complex formatted text into my various web pages.
Design View and  2014.1 Live View seem to serve different functions.  That is, Design View, for us, serves as a highly sophisticated HTML5 code generator that allows us to properly display complex formatted text that originally is created as a Word docx file.  As I noted in my original post, the complex formatted text from the Word file is then pasted into Design View and thus properly renders on the web page.  I invite you to try this yourself.  Simply copy my properly formatted text in my original post (that can be found at "Using Design View the web page rendered this way:") to a Word file, and it will retain the complex formatting, then copy that Word file text to both Design View and  2014.1 Live View files.  Please apprise me of your results.
Discussion has been had in at least two separate threads on the Design View disappearance in Fluid Grid.  In https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1597260 staff member Lalita wrote "It would be helpful for us if you list the issues you are seeing with fluid grid live view editing."  And in https://forums.adobe.com/message/6807088#6807088 staff member Subhadeep wrote "If you can list down the workflows you are trying while editing in Live View & the issues you are facing in doing so, it will help us understand what is amiss & suggest alternative workflows to do the same."  I believe I've pointed out issues when attempting to use Live View for functions or work flow that customarily had been done in Design View.
Being a CC subscriber, if someone can provide me with a workflow using other additional Adobe products to get my complex formatted text from Word ultimately to my Dreamweaver web page, be it an image insert or whatever, I would take the suggestions.
The difference in the coding of my example in my original post is as follows.

It is readily apparent that Design View is a much needed code generator in the Dreamweaver product.  Live View serves completely other, and needed, purposes.  Therefore, I still, after all the forum discussions, do not understand why Design View has been removed from Fluid Grid.
Again Hans thank you for your reply.  But unless I'm missing something, citation to the links you provided does not solve my problem.  And that problem is this: If Design View is on its way out and thus will be completely removed from Dreamweaver at some point, then how do I provide my information (i.e. complex executive job descriptions) on my website?
Apparently a vote is taking place https://forums.adobe.com/ideas/3922 on the issue of placing Design View back into Fluid Grid.  I do not understand why the need for two rather disjunctive functionalities are at the mercy of the democratic process.  These are matters of engineering principles not "town hall gatherings".

  • Set Contribute up on site and can no longer connect using Dreamweaver

Today I set up Contribute to be used on my site so that somebody else could make minor changes on their computer. But the next time I tried to make changes using Dreamweaver on my computer I got the message "An FTP error ocurred - cannot make connection to host. Your login and password is incorrent. Please check your connection information." I know the ftp log in info is correct because it was what I used with Contribute. I have tried toogling some of the different settings, including enabling Contribute compatibility, but nothing has worked. Any ideas on what could be the problem? Thanks!

    Just to get our bearings:
    Mac or PC?
Which version of DW? Which version of Contribute?

  • Cannot use PhotoShop CS6 after trial expired, even after purchasing Creative Cloud Student Edition

    Hi.
I had PhotoShop CS6 trial, which expired.
I have purchased Creative Cloud student edition, I receive a message that my PhotoShop trial has expired.
I am prompted to purchase the product to extend it, or type in the product's serial number
(I never received a serial number.)
I paid for Creative Cloud and have an order number, I should not be having this issue.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled PhotoShop CS6 multiple times, I also use DreamWeaver and am fearful that I will encounter the same issue. How can I use the Photoshop CS6 after I have paid for it?
    Curonda in Milwaukee, WI.

    Hi.
The trial expired 2 weeks ago - Monday.
I purchased the Cloud Yesterday, also 2 weeks ago Monday 10/15/2012.
I purchased it twice thinking 1 purchase did not complete.
I still will need to request a refund for 1, I've been too busy between, work, school, and kid. I'm at work now.

    Curonda,
Can you let us know the date when your trial expired and when you bought the Creative Cloud Subscription?
    Thanks

  • How to use Dreamweaver instead of Site Builder

I created a website using Dreamweaver and used its FTP capability to upload the files.  I used the settings (HOST NAME: ftpmysite.verizon.net, User Name: your user ID (e.g. - jsmith), PASSWORD: your password) that were published here.. http://www.verizon.net/central/vzc.portal?_nfpb=true&action=FAQ&_pageLabel=pws_content#wlp_pws_conte...
Dreamweaver uploaded the files and the Web Space Monitor lists all of the files but they are not accessible using my personal URL (http://mysite.verizon.net/username).  In the Disk Space tool in Site Builder shows the files under a category of "Other Files (including system files)."
How can I get my website to be active through my personal URL without using Site Builder?
    Thanks for your help!

When web designing, it doesn't matter if it's either .htm or .html. Just as long as every other page that you DO link the index file to that it's consistent.
For example, I cannot have on another page:
    <a href="index.htm">Text here</a>
When the original index file is a .html
So long as you're consistent when linking each file to the original index it should be fine. The Suffix that it has really hasn't mattered for years.
If you use 'pls' because it's shorter than 'please' I'm going to say 'no' because it's shorter than 'yes.'

  • CS3 File Can't Be Opened using Dreamweaver 8

Just wondering if anyone out there has been able to open an
HTML file generated with Dreamweaver CS3 (PC) using Dreamweaver 8
    on a Mac?
When the CS3 user edits and saves an HTML file, the
Dreamweaver 8 user cannot open on our server.
We will be upgrading the Mac software in a few months but
have a need now to have two people edit the same files. One is on a
PC using Dreamweaver CS3 and the other is on a Mac using
    Dreamweaver 8.
Are there settings in CS3 to maximize compatibility with
    older versions?
    Thanks,
    Bill

Couldn't imagine that would do it, though, since DW is not
    rendering any of
    that.

  • Unable to connect to the remote ftp server using dreamweaver.

For the last one week I have been trying to connect to the remote ftp server using dreamweaver. I spoke to the technical support agency who manage our remote server but they are saying that there is no problem with the server adn they dont know anythign about dreamweaver so cant assist me.
I was suggested to check with adobe team directly and i spoke to a technical support person on the live chat but they said since the version is CS4 - education version, they cant assist me at all!! This is just ridiculous...I am constantly being sent from one place to the other without anything getting resolved!!
    Please help somebody!!

I am having a similar problem... maybe.  I was connected to my remote site all day yesterday, then out of the blue I tried to "put" an edited file... as I had been doing all day, and I received an FTP error:  Cannot make connection to host. Your login or password is incorrect.  That's odd, I've been connecting all day.  So I went into my sites > manage sites and clicked the Test button on my remote server information and it returned Adboe Dreamweaver CS connected to your webserver successfully.  I went back to my file and tried once more to "put" it on the remote server... again FTP Error: cannot make connect to host...  So I reboot my computer and start Dreamweaver CS3 again.  I reenter my remoter server information and click the Test button.  "... connect to your webserver successfully".  I try to put any file, FTP error again.  So I call my server administrator, he checks the servers logs and says there are no errors and you've connected successfully several times today.  I went through the trouble shooting steps listed here, though my FTP Logs are empty.  I cannot stay connected or even see the remote folders to try to drag and drop.  I tried to run ftp from a windows command prompt and it seems to connect me.
I downloaded an installed an SFTP client and was able to successfully connect to my remote server and upload the files.  It's definately a Dreamweaver problem.  Any suggestions?

  • Using Dreamweaver to edit *partial* web page (chunks of HTML code)?

    Hello,
I am using a custom PHP framework to build a website.
This framework is quite simple, it relies on 2 types of files:
Templates: site-wide PHP/HTML files including all the logic, HTML header (links to CSS & JS files), Company logo HTML menus & related navigation code, searchbox, footer etc. Only 2 templates exist: one for the homepage, another one for all the other pages.
"content files": these files contain mostly static HTML code. Content files are imported by the PHP template using PHP's include() function.
As content files are inserted within a global HTML page, these only  contain chunks of HTML code: no tags such as "head" "body".
On the attached PNG, the green part is the code from the template, the red part is the code from the "content file".
A typical template file would be:
              <html>
                <head>
                  (load CSS files, JS files...)
                </head>
                <body>
                  (HTML headers & menus)
                  <?php include($content_file); ?> <!-- Includes partial HTML file with page content -->
                  (HTML footer)
                </body>
              </html>
A typical content file would be:
              <h1>TITLE</h1>
              <h2>subtitle</h2>
              <p>Lorem ipsum<img src=""  class="myimg" /></p>
              <h2>subitle</h2>
              <p>Lorem  ipsum</p>
Templates are NOT editable by users.
Content files are editable by users, using Dreamweaver.
The problem is, users cannot edit those content files since it is not a valid HTML page. The CSS required to enforce the styles are not loaded since HTML headers are not present. It looks ugly and Dreamweaver tries to insert standard HTML tags such as <html>, <body> and so on.
I see 2 hypothesis, but I cannot find an answer in the Dreamweaver documentation:
have DW edit the content files alone, in which cas we would need to tell DW that it is editing a partial web page and not a full one
have DW edit the content file while applying the PHP template, in which case we would need to tell DW that is should discard most of the code and save only the "content file"
Hypothesis 1: Standalone edit of content files. Is there a way to tell Dreamweaver
that it is editing a partial HTML file,
that it needs to load additional CSS stylesheet to display the styles
that it should not insert standard HTML body and headers tags, that we know the page is not standard compliant as-is
that creating additional style is forbidden, it is only allowed to use styles defined in the stylsheet
Hypothesis 2: Edit of content files within the template. is there a way to tell Dreamweaver
that it is should add HTML code from the template before and after the loaded "content file"
that when saving the "content file" it should discard all HTML/PHP code from the template, saving only the content itself
that creating additional style is forbidden, it is only allowed to use  styles defined in the stylsheet
I cannot believe noone has been faced with this problem before, the fact is I cannot find any answer about this issue.
    Best Regards,
    M

I have moved this thread to the Dreamweaver Application Development forum, which deals with PHP and similar issues.
    Several things spring to mind.
Do your template files have a standard .html file name extension? If so, you could add .html to the file types that Dreamweaver does not automatically rewrite. Select Code Rewriting in the Preferences panel, and add .html to the list of files in "Never rewrite code".
If your template files use a file name extension not recognized by DW, add them to the list using the instructions in http://go.adobe.com/kb/ts_tn_16410_en-us. You might also need to add them to the list of files that DW doesn't rewrite.
To get access to styles in pages that are composed of fragments, use Design Time Style Sheets. See http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Dreamweaver/10.0_Using/WScbb6b82af5544594822510a94ae8d65-7e17a .html.

  • Cannot install dreamweaver cs3 design premium on iMac

I purchased a new iMac and used the migration assistant to migrate everything from another iMac and now I cannot open dreamweaver anymore. I just get a blank error box.
Both iMacs are intel based and are running 10.2.7 (latest OS) and I never had any issues with dreamweaver on the other computer.
Since I can't afford the $1000 to upgrade my CS3 Design Premium, I need to get this working. I can open all other CS3 apps with no problems, Photoshop, InDesign, Flash.. but Dreamweaver has the error box popup.
I tried calling but Adobe doesn't provide support for their products after a new product version is released, according to Rajish the customer service rep.
I tried installing from the disk too, but that didn't work either, it gives me an error that says "Required resources are missing" and then I have to click the Quit button.
So I'm stuck, I can't use Dreamweaver unless I can somehow re-install it, or figure out what didn't migrate properly. Any ideas?
*stressed out... and chocolate is not helping....

Cyberious are you using 10.7.2 or 10.2.7?  Most likely it is an issue with using the Migration Assistant.  For complicated programs like Adobe products it is best to do a fresh install instead of migrating the product over.  Users who use the Migration Assistant often face issues such as yours.
You have a couple different options:
The first and easiest would be to format and reinstall the OS on your new Mac.  Then run the Migration Assistant again this time only bringing over your documents and settings.  You will then want to reinstall the software from your installation media.
Second you can try running the uninstaller located in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers.  After this is done you will want to run the CS5 Cleaner tool.  For details regarding how to use and obtain the cleaner tool I would recommend reviewing CS5 Cleaner Tool for installation problems | CS5.5, CS5, CS4, CS3 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html.  You can then again install from the installation media.
I honestly would recommend going with option 1.  In the over decade and half I have been doing support some of the worst issues have come from the use of Migration Assistants/EZ Setup solutions.  I have seen people literarily spend hours trying to resolve their difficulties.
