Cannot use LAN connection on Satellite A100-451

I've just purchased a A100-451 but when i plug the LAN cable in none of the lights come on and I can't connect to the router or set up the network connection?
Help please?

I agree with Andrej.
Additionally I would recommend checking the LAN cable if it was connected to the router correctly.
Usually its not necessary to enable anything on the notebook. You have to plug simply the Lan cable to the notebook and the router should automatically assign the IP address to get the internet connection

  • How to connect external speakers to Satellite A100-451

    Hello,
I have a Satellite A100-451 (UK) running Vista. I want to connect external speakers. There is a 'headphones' jack on the front (3.5mm jack I think), can I connect external speakers here? The speakers are 'PC Line' with their own power supply and also have a 3.5mm jack plug).
    Thanks
    KK

You need the audio Line-out put and the headphone jack provides this output.
In other words you can use this jack to connect the external speakers

Did you try to refresh the connection? Something similar happens on my notebook but not with LAN but with WLan. If you right click on the small lan icon you will see the option repair. Check it.

Bluetooth clearly works. Nokia PC Suite can't use it.
Totally stuck - wish to use PC connection to synchronise address books.
    Help, please.

    Hi,
I think that PC Suite is not support your Bluetooth driver. Here you can find what drivers are supported:
    /discussions/board/message?board.id=connectivity&message.id=114
Anyway, if Microsoft's BT driver support your BT HW, you can try to that stack also...
So, if you want to try to use MS BT driver:
    1. Go to Control Panel, System, Hardware and Device Manager.
    2. Open Bluetooth Devices, select that device, click Action, Uninstall and OK.
    3. Click Action and Scan for hardware changes.
(windows should automatic install MS BT driver)

    Could you please try this?
I am not sure whether this will solve your problem but you could try this once.
    1. Disconnect your phone from PC if connected.
2 .Open Control Panel and go to ‘Programs and Features’
    3. From the list of available programs, choose ‘Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver’
    4. Click on the ‘Change’ button on top toolbar.
    5. In the setup dialog box that pops up next, choose ‘Repair’ and select ok. Wait for setup to complete.
    6. Restart the computer if prompted.
    7. Now connect your phone to the PC. Driver installation should complete and PC/Ovi suite (hopefully) should detect your mobile properly now.

  • Cannot use WLAN connection with my Satellite Pro A100

    Toshiba Satellite Pro A100-830

Can not use wireless connection. While using "Config Free" to find wireless device the popup 'this connection is controlled by other software'. I do not know what it means and which software controls the connection. I have other laptop which is duly connected by wireless connection. I am ok with wired connection.
I do not know much about technicalities and thus seek help if any reader can.
    Thanks
    Kris

    >Can not use wireless connection. While using "Config Free" to find wireless device the popup 'this connection is controlled by other software'
You should not use the ConfigFree for the Wlan configuration but either the own Vista configuration options or the WLan configuration tool like Intel ProSet Utility or Atheros Clint Utility. It depends on the WLan card what utility can be used.
Intel card -> Intel ProSet Utility; Atheros WLan card -> Atheros Clint Utility
I assume the message +this connection is controlled by other software+ appears because one of the options mentioned above controls the WLan.

  • Repair using Recovery Disc for Satellite A100

Is it possible to do a *Repair* on my Toshiba Satellite A100-049 using the Recovery Disc that came with the laptop
    Regards

    Hi Dr Lamp,
It started about a week ago, when I think I had problems with the Malware /Virus "Fake Alert" where a meesage kept coming up saying I needed to repair or words to the effect. I then lost my desktop and my folders were empty in the start menu, and the screen was black.
I ran McaFee antivirus, Malwarebytes and Super AntiSpyware. I then ran Unhide and rKill. I got the desktop back with a couple of Word documents that would not open but the folders in the start menu where either ok files missing or empty.
I now keep getting redirected when searching but not always, also when I switch the laptop on Photshop opens up as though it is trying to open a file up,there is a message appears Photshop cannot open this kind of document.
The only program I have set to open on start up is McAfee.
I have tried a few system restores with the same result.
After system restore the laptop seems to start up ok, but the next time it is started Photoshop opens again.
I seem to be going round in circles, I really don't want to use the Restore option if at al possible.

Has anyone here any experience of using FS on a laptop with an external monitor ?, and what is the best way of setting up the 2 screens ?
    Thanks

    Hi again :)
hm, would you like to use the second screen as a extension for your cockpit?? Usually it should be possible. A friend of mine set a full cockpit view with 3 TFTs on his desktop machine,

  • How to connect my Satellite A100 to TV?

I have a Toshiba Satellite A100-285 and I really want to connect it to the TV.
Can anyone tell me what cable I would need to do that?
We have no pc world or any shops like that up here.
    Thank you very much.

    Hello
It is very simply to do this. All you need is S-Video cable. S-Video port is placed on the left side near the I.Link. Please note that this cable can transfer the video signal only.

  • Cannot find wireless network adapter - Satellite A100-467

    Hi,
I have Toshiba Satellite A100-467 running Windows 7 on it.
Yesterday I put my notebook to hibernation and when it woke up wireless network was not working.
I checked Device Manager and there is no wireless network adapter available, seems it is not enumerated by the system.
I have tried to download and reinstall drivers for Wireless network but without success.
    Any suggestion?

I launched windows Backup and Recovery tool to see whether some software change had not disabled wifi adapter, that is what I meant.
There is no Ethernet Controller in Device Manager, nothing pointing to Wireless adapter.
I have tried to remove battery already before but it did not help. Tried again today with the same result.
Today my Wifi was suddenly working for a while, that made me think it would be probably a hardware issue, maybe something moved inside. I just wanted to rule out software issues before I send it to repair.
Now it is where it was before, not even displaying in Device Manager.

  • Quickvpn connected, but cannot use lan resources

I have recently configured RVS4000 for VPN use.  The office LAN is the RVS4000 (IP 192.168.1.1) behind a Thomson 516 (in bridge mode, the RVS handling PPPoE authentification), 1 machine running xp pro used as a file and print server, 3 xp workstations.
I just want to be able to access the server, which has a fixed IP of 192.168.1.50.  I don't care about accessing the workstations. Windows firewal on the server is off.
Trying to connect from home machine which is another xp pro machine behind a d-link 524 and cable modem. windows firewall on home computer is off (di-524 firewall is on, I've lost the password and the unit is refusing to hard reset to defaults...).
quickvpn will connect to the RVS4000 (as long as port is set to auto) (though sometimes the remote gateway will stop responding...don't know what's up with that), and I can ping each and every device on the office LAN, including the server and the networked multifunction office machine (which prints, scans and faxes beautifully over the office LAN).  I can log into each and every web interface connected to the office LAN
The RVS4000 is meticulously set up with each and every firewall rule I've seen mentioned re. quickvpn.
I understand that quickvpn does not give you a local IP on the target LAN, and that it does not support netbios.  However, I have read and been told that it should allow to access fileshares and printers.  But these do not work.
After some research, I set up a networked drive by IP address and folder on the server. It looks right, displays correct size and capacity info and browses nice and fast.  However, any attempt to save to the file server results in a file save error, data lost, connection may have been lost error message out of the windows taskbar.
Also, trying to set up printer (either as standalone network device by IP address, which worked great when setting up the office LAN, or via the server (to which it is locally connected) results in a bad hang and/or ultimately, the printer cannot be found error message.
I've tried running remote desktop on the server (by IP). It connects great, but then hangs, useless.
Phone tech support says that must be a windows file permission problem, but the file server is using plain vanilla full file sharing that works real well on the office LAN.  I've even assigned the home machine the same workgroup and domain as the office LAN (though since netbios isn't supported, didn't think it would do anything, and it didn't).
Any thoughts on making this work, or have I just wasted our money and nearly an entire week of my time?

    Dvandusen,
I understand that you are able to connect with no problem (for the most part) via QVPN to the RVS, and you have access to remote resources; however, they are not useable.
I will try to make suggestions based on this.
First, your D-Link router is most likely giving you an IP of 192.168.0.x, is this correct? (for this conversation I will assume correct)
Since your RVS is still default and has 192.168.1.0 network ID, for some reason this can cause problems. Typically I like to set up the routers for QVPN with an IP that is not very common, like 192.168.212.0 /24. The part that is key is ensuring both local networks are not the same, but really not similar in any manner. I know they are different right now, but "1" and "0" (as in 192.168.0 or 192.168.1.) are not good numbers to use. I wish I knew exactly why.
Another thing that caught my attention is this:
"After some research, I set up a networked drive by IP address and folder on the server. It looks right, displays correct size and capacity info and browses nice and fast.  However, any attempt to save to the file server results in a file save error, data lost, connection may have been lost error message out of the windows taskbar."
This part is a little confusing, but I think is that you have created a mapped drive on your computer for a share on the server. You are able to access files, but not able to save them. Once you get the error message are still able to access the mapped drive?
"Trying to connect from home machine which is another xp pro machine behind a d-link 524 and cable modem. windows firewall on home computer is off (di-524 firewall is on, I've lost the password and the unit is refusing to hard reset to defaults...)."
I would really look into your router and why is it not able to factory default. One thing that is very important that gets missed very often is the Windows Firewall. You checked and made sure it was off, but have you looked at the service to make sure it is not running. Turning the firewall off from the GUI is not the same. It should be but is not.
To turn off the service click on start > Run > Type "services.msc" without quotes. When the services window opens, scroll down to "Windows Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)" and stop the service.
Try the connection again and see if you are able to get what you need. If so go ahead and just disable the service.
Let us know if this helps out.

  • Cannot install LAN driver on Satellite M100-221

    I reinstalled OS on my Satellite M100 - 221 PSMA0E.
IT previously used Windows XP Home Edition, and now I installed Windows XP Professional SP2. I have an error in my DEVICE MANAGER with ethernet controller, mass storage controller,SM bus controller. But let's stick to ETHERNET CONTROLLER.
I download the genuine LAN driver from Toshiba official website, and every time I'm trying to install it I get the message "The specified location does not contain information about your hardware".
In NETWORK UPADATE wizard I don't even have option to choose Realtek driver, only Intel and some others. My network adapter worked great on preinstalled XP Home edition. What am I suppose to do? Please HELP!!!

    Hi,
I guess you should try the intel drivers instead of the realtek drivers because your machine was shipped with an Intel LAN chipset.
So, please visit the intel website (www.intel.com) and download the latest LAN drivers from their homepage.
It should work and you should have soon a working ethernet connection.
