  • Cannot use webcam on my Satellite A300

    Hi there
I have installed Windows 7 home premium in my laptop (it had windows Vista) and ever since I can't use my webcam.
It doesn't appear in device manager and I have install and uninstall many times the drivers but every time I see the message that says that the camera is either disconnected or destroyed and restart the camera or the computer.
Is there a way to solve this problem?
    Thanks in advance.....
My laptop is Satellite A300-20W with model number PSAGCE-09N00DGE and serial number 29353297Q

    > i want to know if the problem can be easily solved so i can solve it or it is difficult...if it is difficult or i need to exchange camera i won't do anything..
Its always difficult to disassemble the notebook. Its not like a disassembling of desktop PCs. If you never disassembled such notebook, I would not recommend doing this because you could damage other parts. I think you should ask an specialist to check if the cable is lose or not.
    > how can i install the original vista recovery image??
Well, you have to use the Toshiba Recovery disk. If you did not create such disk, then you will need to order such disk from Toshiba. Check some threads in the Product Recovery forum.
    > do i need to remove windows 7
Yes, the recovery disk will format the whole HDD and would remove also the Win 7 system. All your data would be deleted so backup the data before doing such things.

  • Cannot use ODD on my Satellite A30

Satellite A30 has lost it's d drive so can't use recovery disc's. Do I need to buy a new drive or is there software I can download to recover it?
    Many thanks

If you are 100% sure that drive is defective I recommend you to exchange it with new one. After doing this you can install your notebook without any problems.
As far as I know there is no any software that you can use to install OS without using ODD. Recovery image can not be downloaded.

  • Cannot use Touch keys on Satellite P300-172

    Hi,
so I was cleaning my Toshiba laptop last week and after accidentally going over the touch keys it booted my computer up, I thought nothing of it because its happened before but for some reason the buttons have now broke and are no longer responding to touch and so they are now constantly on, this is annoying on numerous levels, 1 been that it drains on the battery a lot, the light it puts off at night is very annoying, and most of all I cant turn it off cos they wont work, as a result I can no longer use the touch keys
If any1 knows how to fix this please post a reply
    Thank you

tnx but that didnt work, instead i took the AC out, ran the battery dead, removed battery, re-inserted it, plugged AC back in ,started it up n they all seem to work again now :)
    tnx again anyways

  • Cannot use WLAN on my Satellite 5105-s501

    Hi,
    I've just acquired this computer.
I'm not sure if the 5105 s501 is the L series - I can't find any information anywhere, perhaps someone could push me in the right direction.
I can't get the wireless to work. I can connect to the internet via a cable but nowhere in the control panel etc does it say anything about wireless. Fn + f8 does nothing. Should the intel driver in the device manager say something about wireless? There is a flashing red light when the wireless is switched on.
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Colin

    You have old Satellite 5105-s501.
All you need to know about your old notebook you can find on Toshiba US support page > HERE .
At first open device manager and check under network adapters if the WLAN card is installed properly.

  • Cannot use OS on my Satellite P10-304

Hi - I wonder if anyone can help me. I know this is an old laptop, but it is my old favourite and my son uses it. I turned it on this morning and it wouldn't load windows (XP) at all. I tried to boot up in safe mode to do a scan, and it got started, then all went wrong again and kept going to a black screen with white text. This I have been trying on and off all day with no luck...
I have nothing of any importance on there so I thought I would try and to a complete restore back to Factory Settings. I put in disc No: 1 and it gave me the option to do a full recovery. I selected that (option 1) and then "continue" after the warning that it will delete everything... then it goes to "!!!!!!!ERROR!!!!!!!!" and I have to exit.
Not too sure where to go from here...
Any advice would be very much appreciated... it has been working fine up until now albeit slow to get going.

P.S. The initial scrolling on boot up is...

  • Cannot use LAN connection on Satellite A100-451

I've just purchased a A100-451 but when i plug the LAN cable in none of the lights come on and I can't connect to the router or set up the network connection?
    Help please?

    I agree with Andrej.
Additionally I would recommend checking the LAN cable if it was connected to the router correctly.
Usually its not necessary to enable anything on the notebook. You have to plug simply the Lan cable to the notebook and the router should automatically assign the IP address to get the internet connection

We certainly want to make sure you get the most out of the GPS, wplaxico! Was this tested primarily outdoors? When did this begin? Any other recent apps of updates installed when this started?

  • Cannot use the F1-12 functions on my Satellite C55-A-19K

    Hello there
Satellite C55-A-19K have an keyboard drivers?
I cannot use the F1-12 functions and cannot get the wireless on since its on the keyboard...
    Can some 1 help please?

    Hi
The basic setting on these models is that the special functions on the [F1]-[F12] keys are used without [FN].
So for example activating / deactivating the touchpad is done from [F5] (not [FN] [F5])
It is also possible to change this behaviour. Setting the Function-keys to traditional mode in the BIOS will revert back to the keys used along with [FN].
So activating / deactivating the touchpad in traditional function key mode, requires [FN] [F5].
So be sure to check your function key behavoiur - if you have set it to use [FN] first or not.
And keep in mind that in case the current mode is not what you want, you may change it.
    Hope this helps
    BR Tom

  • Satellite A105-S4547 boots itself using battery

Hi I am new to this forum. Since having the 'password ' problem and resetting the bios I have two things wrong.
1 Touchpad dosent work, but I'am not really bothered about that as I use a mouse anyway.
The bigger problem is that after shutting down, it starts back up again on its own.
I have a temporary fix. I have removed the battery and the moment it has shut down I switch off at the ac supply.
Sometimes when the ac is restored it restarts itselff, sometimes not.
But will always do so with battery in. Resulting in a flat battery.
Have searched all around for this specific problem answer with no luck so have resorted to a new thread. If anyone can help, then thanks in advance. exact model Satellite A105-S4547

Thanks, have tried touchpad driver, still no go. But I am really not bothered about that, only mentioned touchpad in case it tuns out there is some connection between that and the other problem.
The reinstall operating system will have to wait until my son visits again, to give me help, I dont want to get that wrong on my own!

  • Re: Satellite L850-0C9 - Cannot use USB3.0 External HDD

    Hello!
I'm looking for some help from you guys
because i cannot use my NEW SEAGATE USB 3.0 EXTERNAL HDD 2TB with my labtop (L850-0C9)
my labtop has 2 blue USB port and i guess it is USB 3.0 and i checked it from manual.
but when i tried to copy data to the hard disk, and after 1 minute then it keeps showing the message "the destination you have specified does not exist". it happens everytime.
but i found one interesting point of it that it works great with usb 2.0 port so now i'm using it with that port.
it shows that the hdd doesn't have problem but my laptop does in my logic.
so i updated almost every drivers and firmware from support page icluding intel usb 3.0 driver.
but it is showing the same message as before.
Does anyone know how to solve it?
Have a nice easter holiday anyway!!

nope! it is without AC power unit.
but it is working okay with usb 2.0 port..

  • DVD drive died - l need to reinstall XP Satellite A105

    Hi everyone,
My wife went on vacation to Hawaii, and while she was gone, her Satellite A105 (no longer under warranty with a dead DVD drive) started malfunctioning to the point where XP where freeze on boot.
I tried everything I could but it wouldn't boot.
So finally I took a USB DVD drive formatted the hard drive with killdisk and tried to use the recovery disc to at least get the unit operational. Problem is the unit will not complete the installation I get the following error:
    Windows cannot find c:/bin/errordialog.exe
I thought it was the disc so I cleaned it, and still the same thing, since I'm a student, I had access to XP pro from the msdn network so I got a copy, and still the same error.
I don't have a large enough USB flash drive, and the laptop doesn't have a floppy so I'm stuck with no way to restore the OS... needless to say the wife is not pleased with me!
I managed to get Linux installed without problem, but my wife wants her laptop back to xp and will probably hate me until I can fix what I have done. PLEASE help!
    TIA

    >feilks, your grammar and sarcasm are as bad as the design of this laptop
:) you are right about my grammar but notebook design is not so bad.
Maybe my grammar is bad but you understood me very well. Thats make me happy.
    So let be serious now.
You have notebook with defective optical disc drive.
You don't have floppy disc drive.
If you want to start OS installation from second partition you must somehow start notebook in DOS mode.
The question is how to do this. Usually you can do this using start disc (FDD) or you can create bootable start CD. The funny thing is: you cannot use any of them.
The whole time you are writing about USB. Ok I can understand what you want. Probably you want to use external USB connected CD/DVD drive. Right?
Idea is not bad but this drive will not be recognized for boot-up. Why? You must load DOS driver for external drive. How to do this? Using floppy? You don't have it.
Can you now understand my joke with gasoline tank?
BTW: sorry for all my intrusive unintelligent remarks. This is my last posting. I will not disturb you anymore. I just thought we can be realistic here.
I will follow this thread. Maybe someone else have better solution.
    Good luck!

  • POWER SAVER won't run! Satellite A105

Please read this very carefully, as I have tried to make this as detailed as possible. I have had this problem before, and when I installed the new BIOS driver, it fixed itself. I am not so lucky this time. Also, please AVOID recommending to use my restore CD, because I know it is possible to fix this problem without it, and the restore CD is the easy/convenient answer on how to fix this.
Ok so I just installed the new BIOS software, and now my TOSHIBA Power Saver will not run. I am using a Satellite A105-S4284 on Windows XP SP2. When I boot the computer, I get this message:
    TPSODDCtl.exe - Ordinal Not Found
The ordinal 21 could not be located in the dynamic link library TPSMainCtl.dll.
    OK
I know this refers to the power saver, but I do not know what to do about it.
Additionally, I have searched other forums on this issue. When I open the Control Panel and switch to classic view, the TOSHIBA Power Saver icon is there. I double click it, and I get this message:
Cannot open, as "TOSHIBA Power Saver" is not running.
In order to run this, Please open "Power Options" in the control panel, then choose "TOSHIBA Power Saver"from the "Power Schemes" list box in the "Power Schemes Page"
    OK
I open the power options, and the toshiba power saver scheme is already chosen. I tried applying a different one and switching back, but this did not help.
I tried reinstalling both the Power Saver AND the common modules from the TOSHIBA drivers website, and that also did not help. I tried uninstalling the Power Saver all together, and I get this error message:
Unable to locate the installation log file 'C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\Power Saver\uninst.isu'. Uninstallation will not continue.
I opened up the Power Saver folder in the above location, and there are two files: TPSTrace (a plain text file) and TPwrSetup.$$$ (note: the '$' are not errors, thats what it says). The plain text file contains this message:
A Fatal error has occured. This program will be terminated. Code: 0x45A Location: TPSDel.cpp(230)
Please help! Thanks in advance for everyone's time!

ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah !
You are funny and very fast in defending Toshiba, but not giving a solution - the forums are supposed to be for users to help each other and that is why I asked if they did fix it or found a solution - because I DID NOT!
    1. I have not fixed it yet - I do not have the time to try it as I spend most of the days (all of them) trying to bring some cash at home, as I am not a employee, but a self-employed.
    2. my system works very well - thank you and if Toshiba Power saver gives so many problems it means that it is a 'critical' install on a Windows environment
    3. I am not blaming Toshiba for this problem, but I am blaming Toshiba for not doing anything to 'help' to fix it
    4. you cannot force a user to re-install at factory settings for several reasons:
    a. if you do that you will have a system dated 2004! and I mean you will have to do a re-install (which means loosing all your setting the way you like - that is why one buys portable computer!)
    b. re-install XP SP3, re-install all your programs, re-load all your files and folders the way you work with it every day and I work with 20 to 25 files at once and the browser usually opened on about 30/35 tabs and it is not easy to reset it the way I work faster and produce - all hardware drivers, Toshiba updates ...
    c. then after you spent a full working day (which I do not have) you may find that the Toshiba Power Utility stopped to work again - for whatever reasons!
Worst of all, one has to do all this 'knowing' their system is in good condition as I am not one of those people that deletes programs instead of un-installing them properly, etc. - I do now how to use a Computer after 25 years working with them I do a defragmentation every week together with a chkdsk (which usually fix most system problems by itself), clean it from Internet muck!
What I do everyday at work is to fix other people problems (software and hardware) and give their computer back as if it was new and perfect order and I do not charge them if they are back or charge a Premium phone call too.
So, my system is fine and if you do not have anything to do but just attack users on this forum, you are in the wrong place - if you have a solution other than re-install, let us know.
We are supposed to help each other here.
    Thank you
ADDITION on point 3: instead of forcing customers to reload everything and waste a lot of time, why Toshiba does not create a simple EXE that checks all the settings/drivers/programs are fibe and if they are not fix iy. Like many 'serious' Programs do when you have a problem (usually German Programs or northern Europe in general). A programs repairer without the need to re-install anything!
    Sorry for asking the obvious!

  • Re: Satellite A105 shuts down after 60 seconds (NOT a thermal problem)

Satellite A105-s4344 shuts down after EXACTLY 60 seconds. The mobo has been removed from bezels and all un-needed devices removed (DVD, HDD, WiFI etc.). Swapped CPU and RAM with known good ones. Swapped AC adapter and battery with known good. Does the same on AC or DC only inputs.
I have not yet flashed the BIOS (with 60 seconds this would be foolish). But, I am looking into replacing or reflashing with an EEPROM burner. Currently has V 2.0
I am not sure what genration heat detecting this system uses, but it is a possible cause if it is one of the later generations (visit http://www.topbits.com/how-to-monitor-cpu-temperature.html if you do not know that I am refering to).
Prior to reballing the north and south bridge, and flashing I figured I would get some input from you folks. Just to cover all bases ;)
P.S. the first person to ask what OS I am using will get an instant ticket to the bottom of my respect list.

    >P.S. the first person to ask what OS I am using will get an instant ticket to the bottom of my respect list.
:) :) :) Best thing I saw in this forum.
    Back to your problem.
I am not technician but here just my opinion about all this. The fact is that after switching your notebook ON CPU in just few seconds reaches very high temperature. You can switch your notebook ON and just enter BIOS settings and the same should happen again.
I cannot say for sure if this is 100% thermal issue or not but what else can be responsible for switching off? CPU will be hot in few seconds only. Material change structure with temperature change and I can just imagine some contact will be interrupted.
On this forum we had many similar reports like when cold notebook starts and runs well but after short time switches off for no reason. Maybe I am wrong but for me it sounds like thermal or bad contacts issue. Lets see what other people have to say about it.
