Cannot use ring tones for text tones anymore

I have been told that I can no longer use my ring tones that I have purchased as text tones, which irritates me because that is the main reason I purchased them. But it is true, if you put them with a contact and they text you, you hear nothing. Is there any way to fix that.
Question # 2 Why are my text tones now a lot softer than they used to be. I can't hear them most of the time, so when I look at my phone I have tons of texts and I didn't even know it. I keep it right next to me also, so it is not like it is in another room. That is one reason I liked the music tones for the texts because I knew it was different and could hear. Now they are all little delicate tones that nobody can hear and I can't figure a way to turn them up. The phone is turned up all the way. Plus they said now I have to purchase alert tones to use for my texts and I looked and the selection *****. Mostly dispicable me and stuff like that. I am a 56 year oldl woman and I don't want star wars, and that sort of stuff on my phone. Help please if you can. Please let me know as I do not check the communities often. I usually get lost.

Sorry, this is not a function of iphone.
You cannot customize the text or e-mail ringer.

What makes you believe that you can't? To set a custom ringtone (or SMS tone) for a contact, go to that contact entry, tap the Edit button in the upper right. You can then edit both ringtones and SMS tones for that contact.

Why won't Apple allow us to have custom tones for text msgs?

Honestly my biggest gripe about the phone. The iPhone is so popular it ***** when I'm in public and hear that text msg tone go off and look at my phone only to find out it's someone elses phone! Allow custom tones for text msgs just like are avalible for ringtones!

Actually you can. It took me 10 minutes first time and you need to use itunes on Mac or Windows to create one. Remember that you can't use more then 5 seconds of the song for alert.

I could be very wrong here, but I have only one of my custom ringtones available to select as a text tone. My guess is that they need to be under a certain length to be available as a notification tone.
The one it is I can't remember how I came by it so I'll have to try another when I get home. It took me that long to get iOS 5 onto the phone I didn't have time to figure out the other stuff.

Yes, the only way to do this is to jailbreak your iPhone. I personally do not want to do that, though I very much wish that Apple would allow for customization of this via the configurations or a third party app.

How do you do custom text tones for people? I can do the ringtones but haven't been able to figure this one out...also, Blackberry Messenger? What is it and how does it work? Changing the tone : PROFILES - ADVANCED - select active MENU KEY - EDIT
you will then scroll down to the bottom and see ms and SMS text. Please remember to set up
the other profiles as well.

I need to download a version of Firefox that is optimized for Yahoo! but I cannot use Firefox 4 for Yahoo! because it doesn't support Norton 360 as of yet. Any suggestions?

I cannot use iTunes anymore. My computer becomes extremely slow or just freezes. I notice the problem started after I updated iTunes to a new version. I have tried uninstalling iTunes completely from my computer and installing it back, but problem continues. We iTunes launches, it tries to connect to iTunes store, but it doesn't seem to be able to do that either. I can't sync my iPod or play back my music, please help.

With those symptoms, I'd try the following document:
