Cannot validate digital signature - Reader 11.0.10 on Windows 8.1

We cannot validate digital signatures in Adobe Reader 11.0.10 on a Windows 8.1 PC, but the same signatures/documents can be validated in the same version of Reader on Windows 7 Pro. Is there a known issue with signature validation in Reader XI and Windows 8/8.1?

Hi CTMutual_CMHC,
This might not have happened for Windows 8.
Could you please try validating signatures in some different PDF and check.
You can also refer the following link for the same:
https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/validating-digital-signatures.html#validate_a_digita l_signature
If the issue persists, then try installing the latest version of Reader from here:
Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Install for all versions
Let me know how it goes.

  • Making Multiple Digital Signatures Read-only in Form (Acrobat 9)

    I have created a form which includes two (2) digital signature fields.  What needs to occur with the form is Person1 fills the form and then digitally signs it thereby making the form fields read-only .  Person2 then digitally signs the form which should make Person1's digital signature read-only.
    Here's what I've done:
    1) For the Person1 digital signature field, in Digital Signature Properties, under the Signed tab, I have selected Mark as read-only <all fields except these> and selected the Person2 digital signature field.
    2) For the Person2 digital signature field, in Digital Signature Properties, under the Signed tab, I have selected Mark as read-only <all fields> since once Person2 signs the form I do not want Person1 to be able to clear the digital signature and make changes to the form.
    Here's what actually occurs:
    Step 1 above works fine.  Once the signature is applied all the form fields are read-only except for the Person2 digital signature field.
    The problem is that after Person2 digitally signs the form, even though I selected all fields as read-only, Person1 can 'clear' their signature which leaves all the form fields available for editing and leaves Person2's digital signature still on the form.
    I honestly don't care about 'validating' signatures on this form since it's going to be printed but I cannot allow Person2's signature to remain on the form and allow Person1 to edit the form.

  • Validate digital signature

    I have a C# windows application that uses the AxAcroPdf control to display PDF documents that contain digital signatures. The signatures show as "not yet verified" when the documents are loaded into the activex control. The signatures show as validated (with green checkmarks) when the same documents are opened in  Adobe Reader. What am I missing in my application? Do I need to set some property on the activex control to validate the signature while loading the documents?

    Sanney,
    I don't know about the CRL URL question, but if I understood correctly what you are trying to achieve, then:
    If you already have CRLs or certificate files at your disposal, you can store them in disk. You can then select "advanced" option when installing. This will allow you to point at the directories containing the credentials , so these can be included as an integral part of the overall server deployment.
    If later on you want to update the credentials, you can run Configuration Manager. You must then rededploy the updated server components to the application server.
    I'm currently writing this out of memory, but the documentation is very clear about this procedure.

  • Is there a script for making a digital signature read-only after signing?

    When the user signs a PDF Form, the user can clear his own signature. I want to disable the "Clear Signature" feature. I noticed I can run a Javascript in the digital signature's property. Is it possible to execute a Javascript to make just that signature Read-only?
    Thanks.

    If the person who signed the document has Acrobat Pro, you could use the flattenPages() method, which lets you specify the page(s) to be flattened.
    For example:
    this.flattenPages(0)         //flattens page 1
    this.flattenPages(0, 2)     //flattens pages 1 - 3
    But if they have only Reader, they can't use flattenPages().

  • Acrobat 9,10 failing to validate digital signature while Acrobat 8 validating it.

    I am facing an issue while validating a digital signature. I applied a certified signature with “Annotation, form fill-in, and digital signatures” but
    when I apply Redaction “find and permanently remove” on a digitally signed document, Adobe Acrobat 9 and 10 complains that signature is Invalid But Adobe 8 is validating it. I have analyzed  that Adobe Acrobat applying Redaction in append mode and original content of signature  remains unchanged after Redaction.
    Can someone let me know what should be the actual behavior?
    Why Adobe Acrobat 9 and 10 failing to verify the signature even Adobe Acrobat keep enable Redaction which means it is allow to apply in a certified signed document with “Annotation, form fill-in, and digital signatures” option.
    Prompt responses are greatly appreciated!!

    When you sign, you should see where you can select the signature appearance name from a dropdown in the dialog.

  • Validate Digital Signature - Check CRL

  • Cannot validate pgp signatures of microsoft security bulletins

    So I've been getting Microsoft security bulletins for years and I thought I would actually verify the PGP signature. I have not been able to yet. I found two public keys on microsoft sites:https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/security/dn753714was the first key I imported. My PGP software says it is the wrong key for the June 2015 security bulletin:PHPWrong signature of Microsoft SecurityNotifications (Key ID: BF05BFF43AA549E5)Notably on that link above, the page says it was "Updated: December 15, 2015" (in the future). I found that page linked fromanother page.I found another key and replaced the above key with a slightly older one. I still get an "unknown" key errorTextSigned with unknown key(Key ID: BF05BFF43AA549E5)I also foundboth keyson the MIT key server.What do you get when you verify Microsoft PGP signatures?

  • How do I enable digital signatures in Reader?

    I have created a form using Adobe Standard 9.2.  It has a digital signature field and no security settings.  The properties indicates that signing is allowed.  However, if I open the form with Reader 9.2, the properties indicate that signing is not allowed.  Using the Advanced menu, I then Extend Forms Fill-In and Save in Adobe Reader.  The pop-up window indicates that digital signing will be allowed but when I open the form in Reader, didgital signing is still not allowed.  Training from Linda.com appears to indicate that this should work.  Any suggestions?

    Hi,
    I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the core of the issue is that Acrobat Standard edition only allows the user to add the form fill-in and save Reader extension. In order to add the digital signature Reader extension you would either need Acrobat Pro (or Pro Extended), or the Adobe LiveCycle Reader Enablement server. The bottom line is you cannot do what you are looking to do with the Standard edition.

    Hi,
    I'm trying to use SAP Simple Digital Signature (username + password) with SSO.
    I implemented the following SAP notes: 1862737 (main note that makes in possible to combine Digital Signature with SSO, which means using Windows/Active directory password instead of SAP password), 1974495, 1975701, but unfortunately it is not working.
    I tried using SAP standard example of Digital Signature: program DSIG_BOOKING_EX (run from se38).
    When running this program in SAP GUI 7.2 (and even in the latest SAP GUI 7.3), a popup appears and asks for a password (Windows / Active Directory Password). When I type the password and press OK, I get the following DUMP:
    Category: ABAP Programming Error
    Runtime Errors: MESSAGE_TYPE_X
    Abap program: CL_GUI_CFW==========CP
    Application Component: BC-FES-GUI
    Do you know how to solve it?

  • A way to clear digital signatures with presence = "hidden"

    LCD 9, Dynamic forms using digital signatures, Reader 9x
    I discovered this by accident, so wondering if this is a design feature or a bug.
    I have a dynamic form and have sub-forms throughout it.  I create a flowed subform for my digital signature that has fields to collect information and then place a fixed subform inside that that actually contains the signature field.
    Page1 (flowed)
    - SignatureBlocks (subform - flowed)
                    - Field1 (textfield)
                    - Field2 (textfield)
                    -InitSig (subform - flowed)
                                    -Field3 (textfield)
                                    -Field 4(textfield)
                                                    -FixedSub (subform - fixed)
                                                                    -DigitalSig (signature field)
                    -ReviseSect1 (checkbox)
                    -CALCchkRevise (checkbox – calculated read only)
    DigitalSig locks down various fields in the form.
    My problem has always been that when the form goes to the next person for review there was no option to push the form back a state and allow the prior user to change info that was locked by DigitalSig.  Until I discovered this:
    If I place a checkbox (ReviseSect1) outside of “InitSig” subform and then run a calculation checkbox (CALCchkRevise) that sets the PRESENCE to “hidden” for InitSig if ReviseSect1 == 1, then toggle ReviseSect1 back to 0 my digital signature is cleared and thus all fields that were locked are now un-locked!
    CAR-1601-FM01.Section1.SignatureBlocks.CALCchkRevise::calculate - (JavaScript, client)
    if(ReviseSect1.rawValue == 1)
        SignatureBlocks.InitSig.presence = "hidden";
    else
        SignatureBlocks.InitSig.presence = "visible";
    Is this a design feature or a bug?  I like it as I now can have a reviewer toggle the ReviseSect1 checkbox which erases the digital signature and thus opens all those locked fields back up for editing.  Before I push this throughout my form (which has many signatures and review cycles) I want to be sure this is not a fluke that will go away when Adobe pushes its 1,037th update for the week for Reader.  If you hide a subform that contains a digital signature then un-hide it is it the design feature of hidden/visible to clear the signature?  Or is this a bug that will be patched?

    A better way is to set two codes on the ReviseSect1 checkbox.  CLICK sets the subform invisible and also sets the value of the checkbox to 0 (so that the user does not come back to un-click it and wipe out the signature again).  Then put a MOUSE EXIT code that sets the subform to visible.  In that way the user clicks the box and the signature subform hides, erasing the signature and un-locking the fields.  As soon as they mouse out of the checkbox the subform with the signature becomes visible again.  Nice.

  • NWSSO and Digital Signatures

    This is a follow-up to Re-authenticate or provide additional credentials to access sensitive data.
    We are currently looking at implementing NWSSO. As far as I know, NWSSO can't be used as an external security product for Digital Signatures so that users could input their Windows credentials to sign documents. Is that correct? Assuming yes, is something planned? What is the standard solution from SAP in this regard? We are on ERP 6.0 EHP6 SPS04 running in a homogeneous Windows environment. In short the problem is that users shouldn't have to remember their username and password in the SAP backend system once SSO is enabled. If we choose to roll out the semi solution where users have to remember their username and password in the SAP backend system, there is nothing out of the box for them to change their password in the SAP backend system since SSO is enabled. The main client to access the SAP backend system will be NWBC for Desktop 4.0.

  • Validating Digital Signatures when they come back to you.

    Ok so I've sent out some forms & have received them back
    Now it seems that I must "Validate" every signature?
    Is that correct?
    What does that mean exactly?  That I went throught the form & verified all of the information was correct?
    Is there anything specific I should be looking for or changing the settings to when I'm trying to validate digital signatures?

    First, you need to view the signature to see if it was issued by a trusted source (like Verisign or Microsoft). If a trusted source was used, then it is valid.
    More info on digital signatures can be found at: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/help/HA012308751033.aspx
