Cannot verify icloud

iTunes on my MAC is 10.5. I got my 4s (also iOS5) and during activation signed up for iCloud.  iCloud then says I must go to my email and verify the account.  But there is no mail from apple about verifying my iCloud account.  Now every time I access Settings-iCloud, it displays 'Verifying..." then displays "Account not verfied. Check Email." I press the check email button, it swaps to my email account and still no mail from Apple.  This just goes round and round.  I tried Deleting the iCloud account, then re-activating by entering my iTune credentials but end up in the same non-productive loop.  I saw a post mentioning something about multiple Apple IDs which I have from an old iPod, but I never use that other ID for anything.  I asked about consolidating those IDs once but Support said 'Sorry, not possible'.  Would love to try iCloud but so far no luck.  Any advice is much appreciated.
Just went to My Apple Id to manage my account.  I pressed the Verify Account link and nothing happened.  Screen flashed and 5 minutes later still no email in the email account registered with Apple. <sigh>
Nothing in my SPQM folder either.

    Go to https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/ to manage your iCloud Apple ID, then click Edit next to the primary email address and change it.

    i just upgraded from an ipad two to an iPad Air. I decided to give my old ipad to my friend who has been in hospital with a broken back for 6 months to help her have some contact with the outside world.
    i backed up everything on my old ipad to icloud and then transferred it over to my new machine. However, in the process somewhere my friend's email address became the verifying address for my icloud account. As I cannot log in to my friend's email acc not having her password and so on, my icloud account remains unverified and the box asking me to sign in to icloud keeps popping up not only on my ipad but iphone, asking for acc verification. It's also an old itunes ID that's coMing up. If I delete the acc apparently I lose everything I stored on icloud.
    can anyone suggest how I can change the verifying email address to mine and update to my new ID? Thanks guys and ladies!!

    The verification address should be the primary email address associated with your ID (and it is also normally the same as the name of your ID).  This explains how to change the primary email address for your ID: Change your Apple ID.  After changing it to the correct address, click the Verify Now link next to the address and the verification email should then be sent to the correct address.

    When I try and activate my iCloud on my iPhone 4, first of all it said I was using an incorrect password and now I've overcome that hurdle it's asking me to check my e-mail and when I do there's no e-mail or anything there?!?!?  Is anyone else having the same problem? Many Thanks.

    You are positive you are using the same Apple ID and password you are trying to activate iCloud with?
    If so, try "resetting" your Apple ID password >  Apple - My Apple ID
    Then restart your iPhone.   Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button down until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPhone. To turn iPhone back on, press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
    Then try setting up iCloud >   Learn how to set up iCloud on all your devices.

    You are not using iTunes Match are you? If you are, you have to turn it off on the device before you sync with iTunes but I'm not sure how that impacts manually managing music in iTunes. I would also assume that if you use Match, the songs would download from the cloud by using Match on the device.

    This is sort of a long shot, but it's easy to try and won't hurt anything. Close all the apps on the iPad in the recents tray and reboot the iPad, then try again. I saw this work for someone else a while back that couldn't download or sync music, but I think it was probably just a coincidence, but as I said, it will not hurt to try.
    Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
    Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

    After struggeling for hours understood that the email address must end with @icloud.com.
    You need to go under icloud to add account and then choose iCloud>Accept free ID>fill your birthday date>continue till you create an account that must end with the suffix.iCloud.
    Apple Application team did a very poor job here .every thing looks staning except this.

  • Apple ID / iCloud - Cannot verify email address , maybe used in a different account?

    Hi all!
    Until last week I was having a Family Account on MobileMe.
    Now that I have transferred all sub accounts to iCloud I moved the main account, too.
    All sub accounts are working fine and the can use all services like Find my Friends.
    Now after having moved the main account all worked fine for that account except one service.
    When trying to use the Find my friends I get a message
    "Cannot connect to Find my Friends - Verify your Apple ID at https://appleid.apple.com to use Find my Friends"
    When opening that URL on my mac and going to "Manage your account" and then clicikng on "Verify now"
    "A verification email has been sent"
    Doing the same from the dialogue on my iPhone I get "Email address is already verified for another Apple ID"
    Having worked though a lot of discussions here I think the issue is with an old apple id that I might forgot about having my new one as an alternative address verified.
    The problem is now that I don't have access to this old account , so I cannot remove it.
    I should mention that I did not get a single mail for verification send to that address , even though having asked for it on my mac now several times.
    What I tried so far
    - Connected to all apple id accounts I have access to and assured that the eMail is not used and verifed there.
    - Tried the "Verify now" several times
    - Supplied a different alternative address to that account and succesfully veriefied it. Still I cannot verify the primary one and cannot use Find my Friends
    - Updated the password to meet new complexity rules, it does now include lower,capital letters, numbers and is at least a characters long
    That leaves me know with two questions:
    1 - How can it be, that opening the same page and doing the same thing, results in two different messages on my Mac and my iPhone?
    2 - How can I arrange, that from this old account the alternative address is removed so that I can verify it agains the new one?
    Many thanks in advance for any ideas!
    Note: This account is my main private eMail so dumping it and creatign a new iCloud account is not an option.

    I had a similar problem. I had to call Apple support via phone and ask what apple ids my email was associated with. He was able to give me the email server it was associated with (ex: yahoo, gmail, hotmail, etc) and that sparked off the memory I needed to recall that ancient and unused apple id. Then I had to recover the password, log in to that old id and change the primary email address.
    As for no verification email sent, there is a major lag between changing your settings and them actually changing in Apple's system. I don't know why this is. I couldn't delete a secondary email no matter what I tried. Then 4 hours later, it finally let me do it.

  • "Cannot verify server identity" iPhone 4S on home wifi. I get this message on mail, safari, iCloud...

    For the past few days every time my iPhone needs to load something, it will take a ridiculously long time to load if it loads at all. This includes loading email, iCloud settings, iTunes, safari pages, even apps that need an Internet connection. Starting this morning I get these errors. I get this error when I check my mail, try to surf on Safari, check my iCloud settings or open my Facebook app. When I open iTunes I get this message: "The certificate for this server is invalid. You might be connecting to a server that is pretending to be 'itunes.apple.com' which could put your confidential information at risk."
    I have tried shutting down my phone and turning it back on. I have also tried resetting all network settings.
    I have switched to 3G and get the same above message from iTunes.
    The 'cannot verify...' message has disappeared though. Multiple pages in Safari load just fine. I open Mail and get this message: 'cannot load mail, connection to the server failed.' My Facebook app will load and load and will finally fail to update content. iCloud will not connect and show another 'verification failed' message.
    My iPhone wouldn't even let me use this site to submit the question. So I am using my iPad 2 running iOS 6.1.3 and everything is just fine. Everything that is not working on my phone is working on the iPad just fine.
    (an additional note: I have a reminder with geo-fence set a mile away from my current location and it will periodically go off even though my location hasn't moved in hours... Do not know if this is related or not but it started happening at the same time)

    I am having the same problem: I am getting several times a day on my iPad (3rd generation) and my iPhone 4S the messages:
    Cannot Verify Server Identity
    The identity of "webdav.facebook.com" cannot be verified by Facebook.
    Review the certificate details to continue.
    Every time, I choose cancel.
    I don't know, what triggers this message (I am not actively using Facebook or any app that would try to access Facebook at the time when this failure messages happen.
    I am using the newest iOS version (8.1.3).
    I am living in China.
    I don't get the error messages when I am connected via a VPN.
    So far that I remember - the problems started somewhere at the beginning of 2015.
    The 'Not Trusted' Certificates are usually never the same. I did had - among others -:

    What can be done? It's really annoying.

    I have the screen to verify my icloud account.  However, I am not receiving emails to verify it and therefore cannot use icloud.  Does anybody know how I can fix this problem???

    I actually do have another former email account that is still attached to icloud.  It's really weird, because the email I use to sign in to icloud is not the email that they tell me to check to verify my account.  I still have access to both accounts and haven't received an email on either account.

    Sign out from your pple Id on your Device and Go to https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/ and then Sign In with your Apple Id here and Under your Primary Email Address click on Resend Next to Verification Email Sent. Now Go to your Email Account and Verify your Apple Id again by clicking in the Link inside the Mail that you might have received from Apple. Now Sign In on your Device and try to make a Purchase and if it is for the first time then you will be asked to Review your Account and if you have entered your Credit/Debit card in your Account then you will have to just Enter your 3 Digits CVV Number and then click on Done. And then you can try downloading any Application from AppStore or Music from iTunes Store and check if its working.

    Every time I try to sign into icloud on my macbook I get an error message that my icloud account has not been verified and that an email has been sent to my gmail account to verify it. I never get this email. No matter how many times I resend it. This is linked to my Gmail account which I cannot verify.

    So my question is How do I verify my icloud and Apple ID account if I cannot receive a verification email?

    So For everyone that is having the issue of iCloud asking for an old email there is a very simple fix, as long as its a simple switch from one email to another on one apple ID account.
    1. Sign into appleid.apple.com with your current ID.
    2. Edit the primary email to the one requested. (You DO NOT need to verify the old email.)
    3. Sign out of iCloud on any device using the old ID.
    4. Edit the primary email (on appleid.apple.com) back to the desired email address.
    5. Verify that email address.
    6. Sign into iCloud with the correct email.
    As for anyone that is unable to verify their account due to not receiving the verification email, contact apple support for further assistance.

    3. Change your Apple ID to the new email address that you want to use. You'll need to verify the email address.
