Cannot view a PDF in IE on Windows XP - "Invalid Color Space"

I am trying to provide a link to a PDF for online viewing:
http://glencoe.com/sites/common_assets/mathematics/007891647x/LP/FL5MINC3_7_2c_892770_se.p df
Some users can see the PDF with no issue, other users with Acrobat reader 9 on Windows XP receive this error: "Invalid Color Space."
Does anyone know why I'm getting this error, or more importantly, how to fix it?
Thanks,
Rob Underwood

What's the word on this?  I am still having the same issue.  This is very problematic for many pdfs on many websites! Can someone from Adobe please answer this???

  • Cannot open a PDF within IE9 on Windows 7

    Hello,
I am experiencing an Adobe Reader 10.1 issue with computers running Windows 7 32 bit with IE9. When the user goes to a SharePoint page and tries to open a PDF we see the following error:
"There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader. If it is running, please exit and try again. (1:1)".
There is no other instance of Adobe Reader running. The user accounts that log in are domain user accounts and have user level security access. They can open PDF files that are stored locally on the hard drive but they cannot open any PDF that is listed on a SharePoint page and only see the error message stated above.
I have been looking at different forums. I have tried the suggested fixes but none of them have worked.
I have tried the following things but they did not work:
    Repaired\Reinstalled Adobe Reader
Unchecked the "Display PDF in browser" setting
Made sure "Do not save encrypted pages to disk" was unchecked
Run the SharePoint page in compatability view
On one of the Windows 7 computers I created a local user account. Added it to the local Users group. Logged in and launched IE9 and navigated to the SharePoint page. I clicked on a PDF link and received the same error as stated above. I then moved this new local user account to the Power Users group and performed the same test with the same results. I moved this local user account to the Administrators group and now I am able to view PDF files within the IE9 browser. I tried this with other administrator accounts and all works fine. So it appears to be a security rights issue. I looked at the GPO's and did not notice anything that would cause this issue. Of course, I am not a AD guru so I might have missed something.
I have loosened security rights on several Adobe directories but that did not work.
I need to have domain users with user level security access to be able to view PDFs in the IE9 browser. Any help is greatly appreciated.

thanks Jono But I cannot see any option to set Target Version.
the options I have are XDP Preview format and PDF Render Format which are set to Acrobat 7 static PDF form.
I have set a permissions password on the form using Acrobat 8 and under Password security settings , I have set the compatibility as Acrobat 5.0 or later. However, When I look at the form properties by opening the same form in LiveCycle, the compatibility still shows Acrobat 8 static PDF form.
How do I get this form to be opened by users in Adobe 7?
    Appreciate your quick response.

  • Cannot view 3D PDFs on an Apple computer

I publish a digital magazine that includes 3D PDFs generated by Geomagic Design (was Alibre Design) and they read very well on a PC. However, they show a blank screen on Apple products. When I asked Goemagic about the problem, they basically had a run-around solution which for most of my subscribers, is no solution.
    Michael,
Unfortunately, we are unable to support the product on a Mac platform, as the program was not specifically designed to be used on it. We can only assist with installation of the program on a Mac with Parallels or BootCamp. There are too many unknown variables in Parallels and/or BootCamp to be able to determine root causes of most issues with our program on that system. My only recommendation, is that your clients make sure they have an up to date version of Parallels or BootCamp that will allow them to emulate Windows 7 or 8 and make sure that their Adobe Reader is up to date as well. If that still does not work, you may want to contact Apple support for assistance.
    Best Regards,
    Geomagic Support
Right now I have a small percentage of my subscribers who cannot view the 3D PDFs which makes my engineering publication much less attractive.
Here is what the subscribers say:
"Have just downloaded the latest Adobe version from your link and tried again still is all I get is a empty file, for the 3Dpdf. The magazine pdf is fine, I am using a Mac with the latest software 10.8.4."
"Total strike out on all counts.  No PDF on the iPad, but I got a blank page with a title on the top and then it locked up my mail page requiring a re-boot.
Also, same on the iMac.  A long down-load, but nothing to be seen.  Sorry."
    Any suggestions?
Nother question: Why can't I add a PDF file to this query?
I'll send one of the PDF files to anyone who requests one. E-mail me at editor(AT)modelenginebuilder.com replacing the (AT) with a @.
    Thanks,
    Mike Rehmus

Okay. Here's the PDF I received in Adobe Acrobat X on Mac OS X 10.8.4
In Reader Xi on Mac OS X 10.8.4
And Reader XI on Mac OS X 10.7.5
Same view in Ubuntu 12, SuSE 12 and Mint 15 as well as Fedora 17, but I don't think I need to include all those screen shots, since they ALL look the same.
    Know what that tells me?
There's something on the systems in question that's not configured or working properly.

  • Cannot view a pdf file in Adode Reader 10 using IE8

I just upgraded to Adobe reader X and I use IE8. I click on a link to a pdf (which contains a table of contents) but rather than being able to view the pdf, it automatically prompts me to "save as" rather than just leave the window open so I can read the page (and use the disk button I used to see on reader 9 to save later if I want).  How do I change the settings in Reader 10 so this Save As.. prompt no longer comes up automatically so I can just view the pdf??
    Thanks
    MJ

    No.

  • Adobe Reader X - cannot view local PDF's fully or web PDF's at all

I have downloaded Adober Reader X onto my Windows XP IE v8 PC, yet I cannot fully open any PDF documents. On local PDF's I can see part of them, scroll up and down them, and print them though. When looking at local docs I can also see the desktop behind where the toolbars should be; no toolbars are visible.
For PDF's through IE, when I try and download the PDF I just get a black screen where the PDF should be.
I have tried uninstalling (reader and acrobat), re-installing, clearing temporary internet files, all to no avail. Any ideas as to what the problem (and solution!) might be?

I have adobe reader 11.0.09 installed on Windows 2008 R2 configured as Terminal server with Citrix XenApp 6.5 installed. The Server is hosting on average 14 - 15 simultaneous sessions. Adobe reader is installed on the server. The server is provisioned via Citrix Provisioning server 6.x
    The problem:
The User with regular credentials opens two PDF files with writable fields at the same time. The user accesses the environment via remote access with Citrix receiver installed on his / her local desktop. The user fills up the text field on the first form and copies the text from the fields of first form to the appropriate fields of the second form. After few minutes adobe reader crashes.
After I was investigating the issue, I found that at certain point the application crashes and throws a record into the ProcMon list
    More details from ProcMon
After the crash of the application, the highlighted section in the snapshot above disappears and the application at this time is dead.
This issue happens only when the PDF forms are opened with Adobe reader on Windows 2008R2. I have tested Adobe Reader 11.0.7 and 11.0.8 all of them are crashing the same way.
    Help is more than welcome.
    Thank You

  • Error: I cannot view any PDF files without launching Reader and accepting end User agreement.  I have already downloaded Reader.

I am getting an error message when I go to open a PDF file on my MAC that says "Before viewing PDF documents in this browser you must launch Adobe Reader and accept the end user agreement.  I have already downloaded Reader many times and followed all of the troubleshooting options.  I have matched up my software, which is the latest version and checked to make sure my internet security is enabling java script.  I don't know what to do.  Please help.

Chrome uses it's own pdf viewer. That's why you don't get the message.
If you are still having the problem on a Mac try:
Make sure your files are not hidden : http://osxdaily.com/2009/02/25/show-hidden-files-in-os-x/
Quit Safari and Adobe Reader if running.
    Go to HD/<Users>/<user name>/Library/Preferences/ delete com.adobe.Reader.plist
    Launch Adobe Reader from /Applications/
You should be prompted to accept EULA.
If on a Windows machine, do what Bernd described above. Launch Adobe Reader on it's own, not by double clicking a pdf or a link in a browser.

  • Adobe Reader 9.2- makes documents black- cannot view the PDF's content

    Hi all
Hoping someone else has seen this very wierd issue.
I have a Terminal Server running Server 2003 SP1. (inherited)
The End Users were experiencing issues with Reader not printing out correctly. They were previously using Reader v7.0.
I downloaded the latest version v9.2 off the Adobe website and it installed correctly.
The v9.2 installation has solved all the previous printing issues but has now created a new problem.
It is not every time but very regularly, if the users are opening PDF's on the Terminal Server, the content is blacked out and they cannot see the text.
It is like someone has taken a black marker and removed the text- SEE ATTACHED screenshots (it's like they do for Top Secret documents LOL)
I have checked that Reader has no updates available, I called Technical Support and they don't support Reader over the phone and directed me here.
I am going to re-install using the .exe off the FTP tonight but not hopeful that this will solve this problem.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
I am successfully able to view PDF files on my Vista OS, without any black spots or any other obfuscating marks.
You should try to uninstall and then reinstall your Reader 9.2 from http://get.adobe.com/reader/.
If the problem persists, then you need to check any other installed software on your system, that's causing you problems because Adobe Reader's is an application to view PDF files, it does not creates any.

  • Cannot view cr2 files in Bridge cs4 & Windows 7

I can not convert the cr2 files in cs4      nor read them with new Windows 7      Home Edition 64 bit computer
Upon      downloading from my camera I am unable to view the images.
After      downloading the file, when clicking on the file in Bridge to bring it into      Photoshop I get the following message” Could not complete your request      because it is not the right kind of document”
I am      able to view the images on the media card from the camera.
I have      contacted Canon and they suggest that it’s a software issue and that I      should  go to the Adobe website and      look for Windows 7 64 updater.
I was      unable to find anything with this reference but I updated to Bridge 5.7.
After      trying to see the images after the update I was still unable to view the      images so I logged onto the Adobe Support site and was told that they no      longer support cs4.
    Any suggestions ?

Keep in mind that if your camera is newer than the last released version of Camera Raw (5.7) for Photoshop CS4, Adobe does provide a free solution for compatibility, as Curt has mentioned, through the use of the free DNG Converter application.
The way that works is this:
    1.  You get your raw images from your new camera into a folder on your computer.
    2.  You run the latest DNG Converter application and choose the folder.
    3.  It converts the entire folder full of images to .DNG files.
    4.  You open a DNG file as you would an older raw file, with your old version of Photoshop.
While the DNG Converter provides you a way to continue to use your older Photoshop software with a new camera, keep in mind that there are significant improvements in the raw converter in the latest version of Photoshop that may allow you to make better images out of your raw files if you do choose to upgrade Photoshop.

  • Cannot view my album titles in library window

I must have done something stupid, but I have tried everything! My family looks forward to the slideshows I create with their photos at Christmastime. I hope that I can solve this by then!
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

I have solved this; actually, my MacSavvy son gave me the answer. You click on the little dot that is halfway down the iPhoto library window on the left, then drag to the right, and the album titles appear. This was my first time posting on a message board anywhere, as I was desperate. I wish that it had been a more pleasant experience.

  • Cannot print to pdf -There is not enough memory or disk space to repaginate this document

I don't know if this is an Adobe pdf issue or just a Word 2013 thing.
But I'm now using Word 2013 on Win 8.1, 64 bit, 8Gs of Ram and when I go to print a few select pages of my document a message pop out at me saying
'There is not enough memory or disk space to repaginate this document'.
When I had Win 7, the same amount of Ram and Word 2010, I print incrementally to pdf okay. Granted, sometimes certain pages print blank and I have to print it again after restarting the computer but at least I got stuff printed to pdf.
Now I go to print to pdf as little as 1 single page and that message just pop right up like a really bad penny. As far as I can tell, Adobe is up to date unless I'm missing something.
Has anyone ever had this issue and got it resolved?

    Thanks TSN.
(how to check if Ram is full )?
the memory is 8 G Ram. I only have office 365, Acrobat X1 pro, Gimp, and Inkscape installed. The problem was there before I installed the last two.
I posted on Microsoft as well and the response was that since I could print the document on regular printer without any issues, then it is an Adobe issue. Using the toolbar is pdfing the full document. That takes a very, very, long time besides at the end of it, many pages are blank in the pdf file and then it is a matter of restarting the computer, re-pdfing until I am tired. So I print the pages incrementally.  Any other way to pdf select pages without any problems?

  • View Multiple PDFs in tabs in ONE window in ADOBE 9

OK...so after hours of uninstalling and reinstalling adobe 9 to get past adobe's multiple error messages and running CHCKDSK and Windows registry cure I finally get Adobe reader 9 to work, only to find out that
I can not view multiple pdf's in one window in tiled tabs. Basically I need to have several pdf's open in one window in adobe. I'm a student and writer and deal with multiple e-books at once for dissemination and I do not want them open in multiple windows, just one window with multiple tabs.
In adobe 8 this option was in preferences. It does not exist in adobe 9. I can not have all these pdfs open in different windows, I want multiple pdfs to open in one window.
This has been a very frustrating evening dealing with adobe 9. I wish I would have never installed it in the first place. I probably won't be buying 9 pro, its pretty crazy that there are all these frustrations. This whole thing with the Error 2330.Error getting file attributes C:\Program Files\AdobeReader 9.0 GetLastError:1392 which I finally fixed myself and then to find that there is not any way to view multiple pdf's in one adobe 9 window--at least according to what can be found here on adobe, I'm just in tears. I'm not a technical person and I have things due on monday. This is very frustrating.

The change is due to Adobe's following Microsoft's user interface
guidelines. I would recommend getting MS to change its tune.

When you say that you have the same problem, do you mean that you are:
    1. Not able to download Adobe Reader;
    2. cannot view a PDF file;
    3. or what?
Please be a little more descriptive of your particular problem or, better yet, start your own thread and clearly indicate which problem(s) you're having and what you have done, thus far, to correct the problem(s).
