Cannot view attachments and other noob issues

Hello,
I'm completely new to blackberry, and am quite confused. Let me apologize in advance, as this is long and this device is much more involved than any I've had before.
When I receive an email with an attachment(in this case, I sent myself a .doc file to test it out from a yahoo account) I get the "Attachment type cannot be viewed on your device".
I just recieved my BB Tour today, and was able to set up the email rather easily as it is on a POP3.
I have activated the Documents to Go service, it appears that I have the viewer(I followed instructions to check it from another thread for the Curve I believe, and it appeared under Core Applications, so I'm not sure if that actually applies to the Tour, but I found what I think I'm supposed to have under setup/advanced options/applications and then viewed under 4.7 Core Applications under modules net_rim_bb_docview).
I have tried the restarting the device, but no luck. I installed the desktop manager, and followed the instructions to install/update everything.
So far, I've got about 4 hours into this by trying to read through previous posts and the support site, which is wearing on me.
Since I just got it today, is it possible there is some type of lag? I did get an activation message that had instructed me to Leave Messages on the Server, which I did, so I think I'm activated as I'm getting email and can send. But, again, being new to this, it's all a bit overwhelming and has me thinking I should have just activated the data package with my Motorola Q. I'll keep toying with it, to see if something clicks.
Could someone also direct me to a Blackberry 101 type guide? I haven't found the user manual very helpful as I can't even find in it if I can set how often it checks for messages, or if there is a way I can set it to check every 5 minutes or only on demand. So, if anyone can point me in the right direction, I would be grateful! Also, need to update my contact list from Microsoft Outlook, but no luck in finding out how to do that successfully either.
I know that this is a whole lot in one message, but thank you for indulging a newbie.

This will help with the basics!
Don't think of one whole email and attachment being sent and received on the Blackberry as one item.
You are drawing in the document and attachments in "segments", if you think of that, it will make the articles
a little easier to read.
Two things first.
On the BB go to options, advanced options, applications. Scroll down to Blackberry Attachment service.
Highlight, don't click, menu key, edit default permissions, set all to allow. Save and go to the main message queue.
Menu key, options, general options, scroll to auto more set to yes.
Now the application is there, the defaults are set, the email address is set to automatically request the whole document.
Lets check the email setup.
Go to options advanced options, Host Routing Tables, click to enter. DO NOT click on any listing.
Press menu key, and select register now. You will get a registration verification message.
Then go to email settings and send service books. I recommend logging in via PC into the carriers BIS site.
(If you need the link to the correct site, send me the carrier name)
You will get an activation email per account. See if the problem is fixed.
If not, then we go into the Yahoo settings. In the mean time, here is some light reading material on the subject!
Just go over it and see how much applies to you and we can discuss it, OK?

I cannot view some videos and participate in some websites since Adobe upgraded all to Flash 11.7. I have an older Mac G5 PowerPC (no Intel chip) running OS 10.5.8. I keep getting splash screens saying I have to update to Flash 11.7 but 11.7 is made for those Macs with an Intel chip. I am running the newest Flash for my system. It seems all concerned should have made Flash retro-compatible for those of us with older Macs. Is there a work around to this Flash requirement short of buying a new Mac with the Intel chip?

Cannot view desktop contents and finder shuts down

Iam using macbook pro mid 2012 with OS mavericks. Everything was running completely okay until yesterday but when i switched on today the finder kept shutting down after 15 seconds..i cannot view my documents or pictures on the desktop..the applications icon disappear from the dock when i open it and cannot see anything in my downloads folder either..i didnt not downnload any app recently and cant seem to figure out the problem.i tried attaching a screenshot but the browser crashed..i saw some posts where they were relating this problem with google drive but i dont use it..any help would really be appreciated because i have a presentation coming up next week and really need to get done with this problem

You can work around this issue by choosing Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu and then entering a / followed by the name of the folder you want to access.
If you need to access the top level of the hard disk from the other accounts or want to fix the issue, try logging in with the original account. Open the Script Editor in the /Applications/AppleScript folder and run the following script:

Cannot view content text and elements in Dreamweaver

Hi,
I am not an expert in Dreamweaver, still learning. Would anyone tell me why when I open up the template in Dreamweaver's design view I cannot see the content text and other elements to edit or view? However, all those are still viewable in browsers. I can edit content only through code mode in Dreamweaver, not in design view. I am attaching the whole template for you to see.
I would greatly appreciate your feedbacks.

Found it in the last line of the code, it's a Joomla template.
The only real way to use this with dreamweaver is with one of the extensions for dreamweaver (not 100% required, but difficult without one), there are a number of extensions available (sorry, but none are free that I know of).

N8 poor signal reception and other hardware issues...

I have always been a Nokia fan . I started with Nokia 6600, then N70, then N82 and now a Nokia N8.
However, I am facing the worst experience with N8 reception issues.
The problems faced are as under :
1) Poor Signal Reception Issues - Signal strength is weak and is constantly fluctuating compared to other Nokia Phones. At my workplace, if Nokia N82 displays 5 bars, N8 would display only 1 or 2 bars.
2) Phone freezes many times. Whenever an Alarm is enabled, phone freezed much more.
3) Purple Tint in the display. Nokia Service Centre says that its normal but according to me, they are just ignoring this issue.
4) Vibration is weak : I often do not realize when the phone is vibrating in my pocket !!
Upcoming Symbian Anna will just improve the user interface but will not be able to solve these hardware issues.
If Nokia plans a hardware update facility for N8 users wherein they can fix the signal reception issues and increase the RAM to 1 GB atleast, I would retain this phone for few years.
But, now, I intend to switch to Samsung Galaxy S II.

I am agree with poor signal issue with nokia N8. I have two cell with one is N8 and other one is N26 with nearly 4.5 year old but at same place Nokia N8 showing very poor quality of network signal compared to N26. So for same network provider with two different cell with same manufacture how can drastic different that is also investing nearly RS.22000!
Please resolve the issue ASAP.

Infoview Reports timing out, Freezing and other performance issues

Hi all,
New user and been tasked with a project to try and get to the bottom of a problem our users get using infoview on our network. Now i have very little experience in these kind of things and this is more of a research and learn experience at the same time. I have highlighted in bold below what one of my colleagues has sent me in order to research.
You may have noticed Reports timing out, Freezing etc.
We need recognise whatu2019s causing it and any solutions we can apply.
It maybe down to Memory issues, on local machines. Cost of Queries on the databases or even Java versions used when either editing or viewing Webi reports.
Other considerations could be Network issues u2013 Are the problems just site specific
u2022     Identify reports that are causing problems. Is it down to the Queries used and can these be optimised to run faster u2013 Our DBA can assist with this using his Query profiler (ORACLE).
Or reports that have many tabs on, appear to take longer to open/edit u2013 is this Memory or Java.
u2022     Research the web for known issues/fixes,
u2022     Raise Topics on Forums such as BOB and the SAP forum u2013 explaining the above, Can we find out what causes it, which Java versions we should be using, and recommended amount of Memory (RAM) etc.
At the moment im busy just getting a list of reports our users are having a problem with along with any error messages etc. Now in order to get help from some gurus on here i obviously would need to supply more information on our setup so if anyone can help just tell me what information you need and i will get this for you.

PSE 11 editor has stopped importing from scanner, no longer permits drag and drop, will not permit cropping, and other bizarre issues

I am having a number of issues including loss of import functionality from scanner, I can't drag and drop photos into the editor any more as well, or at least not after the first one. The crop function stops working after the first couple of photos. Then some freezing. A little added crashing. A plethora of other bizarre issues as well. This just stated happening a couple of days ago.
What I have tried:
Uninstall/Install.
Deleted preferences both before opening Editor (crontrol-alt-delete) and after opening it.

OK! Check it, like I said in previous posts I seemed to have narrowed it down to specific mp3s not converting and playing in their native sample rate which if paired with another sample would give you the "audio midi sync" error and basically screw up your clock! It appears mp3 files converting to mp3 using iTunes would not convert to the correct sample rate if set to something other than 44 in logic and cause this. A tad peculiar Apple iTunes won't work with Apple Logic. I was able to confirm this on two mac's via my friend in Florida. He's running Tiger and tried the same experiment and Booya! Mickey Mouse! It appears this insane week long adventure has came to an end (...god willing) with a super specific unlucky shot in the dark on my part finally revealed to be an perfectly normal function of Logic (obviously one i'm not fond of..) As far as the errors / crashes / system overloads / kernal panics I think I can sort those out to the mackie onyx satellite not being a good choice and trying to add and remove firewire devices in the middle of the sample rate mayhem. Wow! all I can say is, I'm glad it's over

Recently I have not been able to post comments and other related issues.

On some websites like Reddit.com I am usually no longer able to post in comment boxes. I can type my comment in the box, but hitting save clears the box and no comment is posted (oddly, i noticed that the comment ends up at the end of the url).
Or use the cursor to click on up and down vote arrows. When I mouse over the arrow, it changes to a hand with pointed finger, but clicking the link does nothing.
Or post photos.
Normally I use Firefox 29.0.1 (which I have been using a long time and do not want to change). But the problems I mention here apply to both browsers, depending... on other things I cannot control or figure out. But at the moment, I can use links for comments etc. on IE8 (cannot update), but not on FF.
I've asked Reddit help but so far nobody has replied (r/bugs and r/help).

Sounds that you are blocking JavaScript.
Do you have security software that might be blocking JavaScript?

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test.

Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.

If possible uninstall your current Firefox version to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove "personal data" when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords including data in profiles created by other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure NOT to remove personal data when you uninstall Firefox as that will remove all Firefox profile folders and you lose your personal data.
If you keep having problems then also create a new profile.

Analytical View - Substring function and Other functions.

Hello All
I am trying to use substring and trim function for a value/string and get the field value from position 6 - 10. in analytical view.
Example: Field name XYZ (Values showing as: ASDFG GETVALUENW 2345) --> (data type :22 VARCHAR)
Output must be : GETVALUENW (which is 10 characters, from position 6 after trimming) which I am wring to new filed in Calculated coloumns.
Trying the use built-in functions but syntax wise missing some thing need your inputs.

Slow finder indexing, and other Mavericks issue

Since downloading Mavericks i have two issues that have started to become annoying..
When i open a finder window, or when trying to save something, the indexing takes ages. Was always instant in mountain lion..
Also now if i right click an image for example that is an attatchment in mail it brings up the "open with" option but when i hover on it i just get "preview, colorsync and other"
I used to get a list and always had the option of adobe photoshop cs6 ... i now have to click on other everyu time and search through my applications to find cs6. Is there no way of getting it back to a list of options?
I am on an 21 inch iMac. 2.66 core 2 duo with 8 gb 1067 ddr3 memory... mid 2009 iMac if it makes any odds.

@shashinka ; I'm sorry I did not tell it before but I have maxed out memory RAM on my MacBook (I got 8 GB in total) well before Mavericsk and I also find that is not a memory related problem. Do not be sad and considers that having more memory is almost always a good thing in general (and that you can resell it too).
Another thing i do not mention: I have the same problem on my other Mac ( iMac (21.5-inch Late 2009) ) that had maxed memory too ( 16GB there).
The point is this "systemstas" hog process.
Now I read 6 "I have this question too" : someone else want to add an articulated response ?
I am a little surprised that I did not even have found a single person who does not agree with my post (or even just with my polemical tone). I begin to suspect that here, in the house of the Big Apple, no one is interested in listening to real stories about "customer dissatisfaction", that's simple something that "cant be".
