Cannot view cr2 files in Bridge cs4 & Windows 7
I can not convert the cr2 files in cs4 nor read them with new Windows 7 Home Edition 64 bit computer
Upon downloading from my camera I am unable to view the images.
After downloading the file, when clicking on the file in Bridge to bring it into Photoshop I get the following message” Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document”
I am able to view the images on the media card from the camera.
I have contacted Canon and they suggest that it’s a software issue and that I should go to the Adobe website and look for Windows 7 64 updater.
I was unable to find anything with this reference but I updated to Bridge 5.7.
After trying to see the images after the update I was still unable to view the images so I logged onto the Adobe Support site and was told that they no longer support cs4.
Any suggestions ?
Keep in mind that if your camera is newer than the last released version of Camera Raw (5.7) for Photoshop CS4, Adobe does provide a free solution for compatibility, as Curt has mentioned, through the use of the free DNG Converter application.
The way that works is this:
1. You get your raw images from your new camera into a folder on your computer.
2. You run the latest DNG Converter application and choose the folder.
3. It converts the entire folder full of images to .DNG files.
4. You open a DNG file as you would an older raw file, with your old version of Photoshop.
While the DNG Converter provides you a way to continue to use your older Photoshop software with a new camera, keep in mind that there are significant improvements in the raw converter in the latest version of Photoshop that may allow you to make better images out of your raw files if you do choose to upgrade Photoshop.

I can no longer view raw files in bridge - CS4
I have already updated camera raw to view my CR2 files from my Canon 50 D. All was working well, I have already edited over 1000 photos using bridge to browse. I used it yesterday and it worked fine. Shot some more photos, loaded them to my computer and then tried to browse in bridge. Now bridge will not show me the photos, I get the raw icon only. I reset preferences.....restarted my computer.....installed updates...... I have no idea why it suddenly stopped working....or how to fix it! Has anyone had a similar problem? I am using windows vista.

These same files however do open with my photoshop elements 5 and I have updated the camera raw in this file also.
I would guess that the RAW files were updated into the wrong folder. There can be only one ACR in the file, and it must be in correct location. Re-read the download instructions to make sure you did it correctly. -
Viewing CR2 files in Bridge/Photoshop
Using the CS4 suite, downloaded the Camera Raw 5.6 updater and it doesn't seem to do anything.
How can I view CR2 Canon raw files in Bridge and open in Photoshop? What camera model/make are you using? If a later model ACR of CS4 might not cover it.

Can't open .cr2 files in Bridge CS4 v.3
Been browsing for hours; can't find the right answer...
I just purchased a Canon 60D, which shoots .cr2 raw files. They won't open in Bridge, which previously opened my Canon 10D .crw raw files. What do I need to do to make the .cr2 files open?
I'd rather not install Canon's Digital Photo Professional 3.10 (came with camera) if I can find a solution/upgrade within Bridge/PSE.
Details:
MacBook OS X 10.5.8
Bridge CS4, completely updated to v. 3 with Camera Raw v. 5.7 (which are the latest updates available, I think; just updated today).
Photoshop Elements 8
Thanks in advance.Your CR2 files from the 60D are not supported for your version of ACR.
Each vendor uses different Raw type and sadly enough they use also a different raw type for each new camera the produce. Adobe offers free upgrade for those cameras, about 3 or 4 times a year. In the past they could not get the new Raw types earlier then the consumers so often this meant you had to wait for a period before the ability in ACR was there. Today they have a better relationship and often get pre production models so the updates are already there when the new cameras arrive on the market.
However being a commercial company they don't offer those upgrades for other then the latest versions of ACR and Photoshop. Currently CS6 and CC are both getting the updates but earlier version are not upgraded any longer.
Here is a list of the cameras that are supported and the minimum ACR versions needed for the cameras:
http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
There is another option available and that is the free Adobe DNG converter. The latest version is here:
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5596
Or if the link does not work do a search on Adobe.com your self. After the files have been converted to DNG you will be able to use them in your version of ACR. -
Cannot open CR2 files with Photoshop CS4.
I own Photoshop CS4 and I recently bought a Canon 5D Mark III. Every time I try to open a CR2 file I get an error message that says "it is the wrong kind of file." Help! What do I do?
you need cr 6.7 or better. ps cs4 can only be updated to 5.7
you can use the dng converter, http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=106 -
I shoot with a Canon 7D, have Windows 7 installed on my computer, Adobe CS4 (Bridge & Photoshop). I'm trying to open the CR2 files in Bridge to adjust them before I open them up in Photoshop, but it's giving me an error code saying it's the wrong file type. I downloaded the latest updates for Adobe Raw as well as the DNG converter, however I don't want to have to convert to DNG before opening in Bridge. Please let me know what I can do to open the CR2 files directly in Bridge CS4, thank you!
Make sure you have the right version...

After updating Bridge & PS, still unable to view CR2 files from Canon M3
I cannot view CR2 Raw files from the Mark III on Bridge CS6 and Photoshop CS6 to convert into TIF and JPG files for a client. I have updated all of my Adobe programs, restarted, and the files are still not showing up for me. Help please!
Thank you for elaborating.
Your system should absolutely be opening those files. Any of the versions of ACR (Adobe Camera Raw Plug-in) that run with Photoshop 13.0.6 can and will open those files if properly installed, that includes the current version, ACR 8.6.
Go to About Plug-In > Camera Raw… in the Photoshop menu and see what version shows up there, just to check that the plug-in is installed correctly. There should only be one version of ACR in the plug-in menu.
That Canon camera model has been supported ever since ACR versions 6.7 in CS5 and 7.1 in CS6.
If ACR only shows once in the plug-in menu and you still cannot open your file(s), then you in all probability have corrupted files.
The fact that you can see the images in Apple's Preview means nothing, only that Preview is showing you the embedded JPEG preview embedded in the file. Such JPEG previews generally do not get corrupted even if the raw file has been corrupted.
I hope you have the original CR2 files or good backups. -
Using Adobe 11 reader, now comes up with an error, once file is opened. 'Invalid plugin detected, Adobe reader will quit. Closes the program so cannot view PDF files. Running windows 7. I have uninstalled and re-installed Adobe still the same. HELP
Sounds like something has been added into the Reader folder. I would recommend uninstalling, running http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html, removing any left over parts of the Reader folder (this might have been the problem), reboot, and reinstall. Hopefully that solves the problem. For future question about Reader, you should consider asking in the Reader forum, this is not it.

Cannot play MP3 files in Dreamweaver CS4
Hi
Apogogies if this has been asked before.
I have an embedded MP3 file on one of my DWCS4 pages but when I try to play it from the Properties Inspector I get the message "Unable to find the plugin that handles this media type".
The sound file plays OK in Firefox and IE but I would like to be able to test it in DW. I have the currrent version of Apple QuickTime Pro installed.
I am using both Windows XP and Vista with the same problem.
Is there a plug I can download for DW only in order to play these files without resorting to converting the MP3 to another format.
Any help would be much appreicated.
Thanks
GeorgeYes but I did exactly what I accused you of doing so it was really bad!
Software troubles can drive you a bit crazy. Sorry again.

Hi
Thank you for the apology, but as we have all (probably), misread and
therefore wrongly replied to posts, it is not really necessary.

Does anyone have a solution for this???
"I cannot view pdf files on Safari, instead they download and open in viewer. How do I change this?"Back up all data. Please read this whole message before doing anything, so you'll know what to expect.
Open Safari's preferences dialog and make notes of everything you would need to recreate the basic settings, such as your home page. That includes the settings of Safari extensions, if any are installed.
Triple-click the line below to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
Quit Safari. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste (command-V) into the box that opens and press return. A Finder window will open with a file selected. Move the selected file to the Desktop, leaving the window open.
Launch Safari. Its settings will have reverted to what they were they first time you launched it. Your bookmarks, history, and AutoFill data will be preserved.
Test. If Safari now works as expected, recreate its settings and delete the file you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, quit Safari again and put the file you moved back where it was, overwriting the newer one created in its place. Post your results. -
Read other posts - still cannot see .htaccess files in DW CS4
Hi - I don't know if it's me or what, but I've read other posts and still cannot figure out why I cannot see .htaccess files through DW CS4. It says to go to VIEW but I do not have or see this option.
Here are some screenshots:
and of course the folder where you cannot see the .htaccess fileMac OS 10.4 and earlier (and *nix systems in general) treat file names with a period in front as telling the file system that that particular file is supposed to be hidden. And thus it won't show up under the normal file system views. But the file is still there. To see it, open up Terminal and type:
defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles YES
Relaunch Finder and now you should be able to see every invisble file on your machine. To return to default, go back to Terminal and type:
defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles NO
and relaunch Finder and everything should be back to normal.
Or you can use one of the many utility apps out there that allow you to make these kinds of changes. (Cocktail comes to mind - http://www.maintain.se/cocktail).
Of course you can also build a workflow such as yours as well... :-) -
