Cannot view CR2 or JPEG in Bridge or Light room.

Windows 8
Bridge CC
Lightroom CC
CR2 files and full size images appear as a blue box.
I can see the thumb nails just fine.

There does not seem to be a MS Camera Codec for Windows 8, as this is the typical answer to this problem.

A lot more information about your hardware and software is needed.
BOILERPLATE TEXT:
If you give complete and detailed information about your setup and the issue at hand,
such as your platform (Mac or Win),
exact versions of your OS, of Photoshop (not just "CC", but something like CC2014.v.2.2), of ACR and of Bridge,
your settings in Photoshop > Preference > Performance
the type of file you were working on,
machine specs, such as total installed RAM, scratch file HDs, total available HD space, video card specs, including total VRAM installed,
what troubleshooting steps you have taken so far,
what error message(s) you receive,
if having issues opening raw files also the exact camera make and model that generated them,
if you're having printing issues, indicate the exact make and model of your printer, paper size, image dimensions in pixels (so many pixels wide by so many pixels high). if going through a RIP, specify that too.
a screen shot of your settings or of the image could be very helpful too,
etc.,
someone may be able to help you (not necessarily this poster, who is not a Windows user).

Launch Lightroom and from the menu go to:
Lightroom >> Preferences >> general (tab)
Ensure there is a checkmark in the box “show import dialog when a memory card is detected”
Then quit Lightroom and insert the card again. Does LR launch ready for import?
If not, check that your card is mounted. You should see an icon on the desktop.
Launch Lightroom and click the import button (bottom left)
Expand the tree in the left-hand column of the import dialog e.g. from Mac HD >> Users….down to desktop.
    Highlight your card.
Choose “Copy” at the top and either a named folder on the right or automatic dated folders.
    Then start the import.

There is no "into". LR and PS just reference your photos on the hard drive.
When you import your photos "into" the LR catalog, LR can copy the images off your memory cards to the hard drive if you have not already copied them, but the photos are referenced by the LR catalog by the path and filename for the files.
If you are having problems getting the images off the cards, what steps are you using and what error messages are you getting?

  • Cannot View Power Point/Jpeg Files

Have Microsoft Home and Office 2010. Loaded Adobe Reader X
In Word cannot preview Powerpoint or jpeg files. Computer files with these extensions do not show correctly in the file folders.  Nor will they open.
In Outlook, when attaching anything other than Excel or Word files, it pulls up photos that have nothing to do with what the file is named or the content it should have. Shows pictures that were sent to me through Outlook by another person, and/or pictures I've looked at (that are I don't know where on my computer).
When trying to open files I receive message, "Other files exist. The selected locations do not contain pictures to preview, but other files exist.  To view these files, on the View menu click Show Pictures Only."
Have researched "pdf preview handler", but afraid to open certain web pages and/or use "foxit" download.

I have no idea where you are making a connection between PPT and JPeg files and Reader (Reader is another forum anyway). PPT and JPeg files will only show the icon if you have an application that can read them. I am not sure Windows Home ed has OFFICE and thus may not be able to view the PPT files. For JPegs you can use IrfanView or an appropriate MS product that might be on your machine. Again, I see no connection with Reader that can only read PDF files, period. If you want to create PDF files from these other file types you would have to have the application for each file type as well as Acrobat (or one of the 3rd party products as you mentioned at one point). However, that is not the question you asked.

  • Cannot view cr2 files in Bridge cs4 & Windows 7

I can not convert the cr2 files in cs4      nor read them with new Windows 7      Home Edition 64 bit computer
Upon      downloading from my camera I am unable to view the images.
After      downloading the file, when clicking on the file in Bridge to bring it into      Photoshop I get the following message” Could not complete your request      because it is not the right kind of document”
I am      able to view the images on the media card from the camera.
I have      contacted Canon and they suggest that it’s a software issue and that I      should  go to the Adobe website and      look for Windows 7 64 updater.
I was      unable to find anything with this reference but I updated to Bridge 5.7.
After      trying to see the images after the update I was still unable to view the      images so I logged onto the Adobe Support site and was told that they no      longer support cs4.
    Any suggestions ?

Keep in mind that if your camera is newer than the last released version of Camera Raw (5.7) for Photoshop CS4, Adobe does provide a free solution for compatibility, as Curt has mentioned, through the use of the free DNG Converter application.
The way that works is this:
    1.  You get your raw images from your new camera into a folder on your computer.
    2.  You run the latest DNG Converter application and choose the folder.
    3.  It converts the entire folder full of images to .DNG files.
    4.  You open a DNG file as you would an older raw file, with your old version of Photoshop.
While the DNG Converter provides you a way to continue to use your older Photoshop software with a new camera, keep in mind that there are significant improvements in the raw converter in the latest version of Photoshop that may allow you to make better images out of your raw files if you do choose to upgrade Photoshop.

  • Can't view CR2 raw files in Bridge CS6 from Apple laptop pro - why?

I've got Adobe Bridge CS6 installed on both my desktop and laptop pro.  For some reason I am not able to view the CR2 raw files on the laptop pro.  Does anyone know how to fix this issue?
    Thanks!!

"CR2" files is meaningless.  You need to specify the exact Canon camera model that generated them.  There are many flavors of CR2 raw files.

  • CS5 suddenly I cannot view any folders/photos in bridge or mini bridge.

Just shows No Items to Display.  I have thousands of photos in folders in the Library, but cannot access them via Bridge. Anyone able to help me please?  Was working fine but
now I cannot use bridge at all.  I can select a photo individually from the "My Photos" folders, but Bridge shows nothing.....Help please!!

What OS are you using? How about a screen capture of the problem.  Reset Bridge preferences etc.

  • Canon 6d camera. Cannot view CR2 Raw files in my iMac folders.

I have just updated my camera from Canon 500D to 6D full frame and I am unable to view any of the raw files in the Mac pictures files. I don't use iphoto or aperture preferring to use the in built pictures folders.
I had Photoshop Elements 9 and have updated to Elements 12. If I say take twenty raw images and load into my iMac they show up as a thumbnail with an image number and not a lot else. This is clearly not helpful when trying to view images before editing. Yes I can use Canon software DPP but hey ho I like the Apple pictures folders for storing my images. The raw CR2 files from the 6D are of course different to the CR2 files that I used to create on my old camera 500D
Can someone help so I can actually see a thumbnail of the actual raw images in my iMac pictures folders?
    Many thanks

I'm having this problem as well. I have had my 6d for a while and it worked fine before the software upgrade a few weeks ago.
I can get my pictures imported into iPhoto, but they only import as JPG, not the RAW files that sit in the camera. Before the software upgrage, I could get the mac to recognise the Canon 6d and import the RAW files directly from it. Now I can't get the mac to recognise the camera at all.
I want to process in Lightroom but they import as jpgs and they all just look wrong!
    Somebody please help!
    Thank you.

  • After updating Bridge & PS, still unable to view CR2 files from Canon M3

I cannot view CR2 Raw files from the Mark III on Bridge CS6 and Photoshop CS6 to convert into TIF and JPG files for a client. I have updated all of my Adobe programs, restarted, and the files are still not showing up for me. Help please!

    Thank you for elaborating.
Your system should absolutely be opening those files.  Any of the versions of ACR (Adobe Camera Raw Plug-in) that run with Photoshop 13.0.6 can and will open those files if properly installed, that includes the current version, ACR 8.6.
Go to About Plug-In > Camera Raw… in the Photoshop menu and see what version shows up there, just to check that the plug-in is installed correctly.  There should only be one version of ACR in the plug-in menu.
That Canon camera model has been supported ever since ACR versions 6.7 in CS5 and 7.1 in CS6.
If ACR only shows once in the plug-in menu and you still cannot open your file(s), then you in all probability have corrupted files.
The fact that you can see the images in Apple's Preview means nothing, only that Preview is showing you the embedded JPEG preview embedded in the file. Such JPEG previews generally do not get corrupted even if the raw file has been corrupted.
I hope you have the original CR2 files or good backups.

  • Cannot view folders in mini bridge

    Hello,
when trying to use mini bridge in ID CS6, I cannot view folders. I can look at drives, and places such as desk top, but it will only find individual image files, and cannot find any folders. As most of my assest are in folders, this is exceedingly frustrating. I remember CS5 not having this issue. Is there a preference or setting I am missing, or is this how Adobe always "improves" their products when they update.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks

I have done that, but it still does not find folders. Specifically, let's say folders within folders. I mentioned that I can find places, such as desktop, but it won't find 'folders' on my desktop. Just indivdual files. Here is a screen shot of what I mean. On my desk top, I happen to have a folder of assets, but it is not finding it when I have 'desk top' highlighted in the navigation. This is a problem that there seems to be now answer for.

  • Cannot view RAW files in Camera RAW in Adobe Bridge.

    I have the following installed:
    Adobe Photoshop Version: 13.0.1 (13.0.1.3 20131024.r.34 2013/10/24:21:00:00) x64
    Operating System: Windows Vista 64-bit
    Version: 6.0 Service Pack 2
    Bridge Camera Raw v7.0.0.308
I uploaded a plugin (can't remember which one) and now cannot view any of my RAW images through Bridge.
    I have tried installing updated Camera RAW plug-ins - v8.6 = not usable as it is for WIN7 only, v 8.2 & v8.4 = doesn't work
Which plugin must i upload and where do I find one to download?

  • Viewing CR2 files in Bridge/Photoshop

Using the CS4 suite, downloaded the Camera Raw 5.6 updater and it doesn't seem to do anything.
How can I view CR2 Canon raw files in Bridge and open in Photoshop?

What camera model/make are you using?  If a later model ACR of CS4 might not cover it.

  • Can some help with CR2 files ,Ican`t see CR2 files in adobe bridge

can some help with CR2 files ,I can`t see CR2 files in adobe bridge when I open Adobe Photoshop cs5- help- about plugins- no camera raw plugins. When i go Edit- preference and click on camera raw  shows message that Adobe camera raw plugin cannot be found

That's strage. Seems that the Camera Raw.8bi file has been moved to different location or has gone corrupt. By any chance did you try to move the camera raw plugin to a custom location?
Go To "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS5\File Formats" and look for Camera Raw.8bi file.
If you have that file there, try to download the updated camera raw plugin from the below location.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/thankyou.jsp?ftpID=5371&fileID=5001
In case  you ae not able to locate the Camera Raw.8bi file on the above location, then i think you need to re-install PS CS5.

You have two options with Photoshop.
Upgrade to CS4 so you can use the latest Adobe Camera Raw plug-in, or use the DNG converter from the Downloads page above to make readable versions of your CR2 files.

  • How to view video Exif data in Bridge

I cannot view video Exif (i.e., camera settings) data in Bridge.  I can see it for still images.  I shoot video in both MOV and MTS, but can see it for neither.  How do I view it?

Thanks.  Is there some equivalent of Exif information for video?  For stills, I shoot RAW and much appreciate being able to veiw the camera settings once the file is in Bridge.  I'm new to video.  It would be even more helpful for me to see the video details, so I can better learn from my practicing.  I can view some video file data in my camera after shooting:  f-stop, white balance method, compression method, aspect ratio, and frame rate.  So, this data is being captured and stored on my memory card.  After downloading to Bridge, I'd like to be able to view this same info there.  Is this possible?
