Cannot View DVC Pro HD

I run Windows XP and using TransMac to view DVC Pro HD movies from a Mac external hard drive. I cannot view the movies and the creator of the movies says that his Quicktime Pro plays DVC Pro HD movies for him on his Mac.
Can someone please tell me if there is something I need to do to view and edit these movies with Quicktime Pro for Windows?

FCE does not work with the codec, FPRO can, if you can access it. Or, this free app can convert the clips to one that FCE can work with.

Make sure the conversion matches the specs of one of the FCE Easy Setups. I'd suggest an AIC (Apple Intermediate Codec).

DVC PRO HD clips played before; not now

Hi, folks.
My DVC PRO HD clips won't play in QuickTime 10.1. Black screen. I hear audio but no video.
Also, I cannot see them in preview when I higlight them in an open window list. Can't see or preview them at all. Standard def footage is fine.
Situation: I just bought a new MacBook Pro (Late 2011). It has Mac OS X Lion. I migrated all of my content from a Time Capsule backup of my old MacBook Pro (2009). The old MacBook Pro played those DVC PRO HD files just fine.
I checked my library files to see if I was missing any plugins or components. My library lists the following components for DVCPRO HD:
DVCPROHDCodec.component
DVCPROHDMuxer.component
DVC{PROHDVideoDigitizer.component
DVCPROHDVideoOutput.component
DVCPROHDVideoOutputClock.component
DVCPROHDVideoOutputcodec.component
If I'm using the very latest system software, and it doesn't appear that I'm missing anything, why is QuickTime unhappy? Why do I get the black screen?

After some tinkering under the hood, I've found an answer to the problem. So here's a step-by-step guide to solving this problem in case others find themselves in the same situation.
The problem seems to be that there are .component files that are in conflict with each other in the QuickTime folder.
When solving this problem, I learned that I would have to use my Administrator password frequently in order to move QuickTime components in and out of the folder. (This must be a Lion thing. I never had to use my password as much with previous versions of OS X.) Make sure you know your Admin password.
Here's what to do to solve the problem mentioned above:
1) Go to Library>QuickTime. Inside the QuickTime folder, remove every .component file that doesn't start with "Apple." Copy these .component files to a folder on your desktop. (You'll need them soon.)
2) Start by moving the file called DVCPROHDCodec.component back into the QuickTime folder. You'll see immediately that this file enables you to see your DVCPRO HD file in both Preview and in QuickTime. (If that doesn't work, then I can't help you. This is the core file that you need to view DVC PRO HD files in QuickTime. Period.) Check your work by trying to view a test DVC PRO HD file.
3) Move the other DVCPROHD .component files back into the QuickTime folder. Test with your DVC PRO HD file again. Everything should work well.
4) If you have Final Cut Pro or Final Cut Studio, move these files back into the QuickTime folder:
>FCP Uncompressed 422.component
>LiveType.component
>Motion.component
Check your work again with your test movie file.
5) Now move the file DeskTopVideoOut.component back into the QuickTime folder. (I assume that this file helps to send video out of the Mac into an external device like a monitor.) Check your work again.
6) Move QTMpeg4Codec.component back into the QuickTime folder. Check to make sure everything is working.
Rinse and repeat with your other .component files one by one. If you find a conflict with one of them, then you probably can't use that component file in combination with DVCPROHD component files. Or you can see if the manufacturer has an updated .component file.
In my case, I had a component called "3ivxVideoCodec" that caused all of my conflicts. 3ivx is an MPEG-4 transcoder. Once I removed it, my DVC PRO HD footage worked like a charm.

I cannot read DVC PRO native file using either my Quick Time Pro 7 or my final cut Pro 5. I only get the sound track with no image. I downloaded the DVCPRO component and installed it. Still no success. Can someone help ?

Are you referring to DVCProHD files from a Panasonic HVX or HPX?
You aren't clear.
If you are, the mxf files have to be transcoded to DCProHD using import p2 command in FCP.

When Converting DVC Pro HD to H.264 does it retain the 4 2 2 color space?

I have some 1080i green screen footage shot on HVX200 on DVC Pro HD codec. My client is editing in Premier Pro on Windows and of course cannot view this footage. Now rather than purchase DV Film's Raylight so he can view the footage, he wants me to convert it to the H.264 1920x1080 codec so that his software will view it.
So here is my question: When converting this footage, does the H.264 codec keep the original color space of DVC Pro HD? I want him to have an easier time of green screening his footage with the 4 2 2 color space of DVC Pro HD and simply wanted to be informed whether it would cross over in the conversion? Thanks

H.264 isn't an editing codec. He can see it, but edit it? Well, I guess Premiere might. H.264 is highly compressed, and I doubt it will key well.
Send him the ORIGINAL P2 files...the stuff you offloaded from the card. Premiere can work with P2, just not after they have been imported into FCP.
Please tell me you kept the original P2 card dumps.

I recently got some videos in the DVC PRO HD format that I need to edit in Final Cut Express. When I try to view them in Quicktime...the screen is black and I cannot import them into FCE.
I have no idea what to do? Any thoughts?

When I save an image on my ipod touch 3rd gen then go to the photos, the library updates/rebuilds, then I cannot view the picture as it just comes up as a picture of a grey camera that says JPG. It never used to do this, how do I fix it?

I go to save a picture (bu holding my finger down on the image, then pressing save image, when the option comes up), and then go to the photos to view the picture, its says updating library and takes about a minute to finish loading and rebuilding/updating the library. After it has finished updating the library I cannot view the picture I saved because it comes up as a picture of a grey camera that says JPG (I assume this is some sort of file, because if i save multiple pictures only one JPG, gery camera image shows up.) My ipod never used to do this. Any idea on how to fix it?

I just got my MacBook Pro and imported all my prefs from my PowerBook G4 and everything's cruising along fine - EXCEPT!
I cannot view any of the websites I host from any browser (Safari, FireFox, IE). I can view the rest of the net just fine.
If this is an ISP problem, please don't write it off as such and please give me some ideas that I can pursue with my ISP!!!!

(I'm on Comcast, by the way).
I'm not saying it's necessarily Comcast, but the DNS issue that Comcast is notorious for will vary from customer to customer, depending on which of Comcast's DNS servers is dynamically "fed" to each customer. Some are sometimes flaky - others will be fine.
I can view Troy's sites in my Safari, too, using Comcast's own DNS servers.
From Troy's symptoms - being able to access all but a few sites, which are all hosted on the same server - I'd look to DNS first. Anyway, it's a very simple thing to test by specifying alternate DNS addresses, so it's certainly worth a try.
Of course, your suggestion to empty cache and history is excellent, and also a simple thing to try.

DVC Pro Tape and DV tape not good in Final Cut Pro 5?

I have a DVCPro tape along with a deck as well as a DV tape along with a deck for that.
I started final cut pro and used the NTSC easy setup. I first captured the DVC Pro, when it was done i tried to play it in the viewer and it would play for less then a second then stop. However when i brought it down to the timeline it played fine in the canvas.
So i when ahead a captured the DV tapes onto the same project. When it was completed i tried to play it back using my DV hardware to my TV but i would only see picture and no audio. ALl my settings were correct and the audio would only play on Mbox or the internal speaker in a G5. I thought i had a bad connection but the DVC Pro tape worked fine with audio. So i figured i go back to the DVC File i captured and when i pulled it up in the viewer everything is green and no picture what so ever.
Can anyone please help

A simple path is mac > firewire > camera or deck > rca cables > tv
Then start up your camera and tv, then open fcp.
Then go View > External video > all frames
Video playback should be Apple firewire NTSC (If you are using an NTSC set)
Audio playback should be Audio follows Video
Techinially, this should send synched video to your TV
If for some reason you can't view your timeline on your external monitor, there are a few things to try:
1) Make sure that the camera/deck is connected and powered on BEFORE you open FCP.
2) In the Final Cut Pro menu select AUDIO/VIDEO Preferences and make sure your signal is being sent out thru Firewire DV.
3) Go to the menu and select VIEW>EXTERNAL>ALL FRAMES.
4) Click in the % box above the image and select FIT TO WINDOW.
5) Go to VIEW->refresh A/V devices
6) Make sure the Log & Capture window is closed
If you want it to play in both the canvas and the external monitor you need to go to the FINAL CUT PRO menu and select AUDIO/VIDIO settings and make sure MIRROR ON DESKTOP is selected under the PLAYBACK OUTPUT section

Running Vista 64-bit, IE8.0, Adobe Acrobat 9.4.1 (Pro). I cannot view pdf documents on line --- a blank page opens, but no document is visible. Java is loaded, ActiveX controls are in default mode, and I've done a "Repair Adobe Installation". Anyone else seeing this? How fixed?
