Thanks for writing to us. Unfortunately, such advanced javascript support is currently not provided by Adobe Reader for Android.

  • I want to view a PDF file from Right to Left (Japanese page order) in Apple Preview

I want to view a PDF file from Right to Left (Japanese page order) instead of Left to Right (English page order) when I view 2 pages. Does someone know how to do this? I think I was able to accidentally get it to work before, someone please HELP!

Sadly there's no way to do that on apple's Preview.
Adobe reader, however, has this option.

  • Adobe 8 - Unexpected Corrupt or incorrect file type warning when viewing a PDF file from the Web

    Hi,
On downloading a PDF file from my web site using Adobe 8 on the client machine I expect the file to open automatically however I receive encounter the "File Download" dialog. It has the following warning message: "The file you are downloading cannot be opened by the default program. It is either corrupted or it has an incorrect file type. As a security precaution, it is recommended that you cancel the download."
This issue did not occur within previously tested versions of Adobe Reader (e.g. Version 5.1).
On investigating the issue I discovered the factor that results in Adobe 8 failing to open the file automatically is the Content-Type = "application/pdf; Charset=utf-8". However, if I intercept the response and alter the Content-Type to contain only "application/pdf;" the issue on Adobe 8 does not occur.
I have even tested when the Content-Type contains an empty Charset (i.e. "application/pdf; Charset=") but this issue still occurs. In addition setting the Charset to other encodings (e.g. "ISO-LATIN-7", "iso-8859-1") the issue occurs.
    QUESTION(s):
    1. Why is it necessary for Adobe 8 when opening PDF files from the web to expect no Charset within the Content-Type?
    2. If this was not an issue within previous versions of Adobe surly this is a bug?
Since I cannot ensure that the Response's Content-Type does not contain a Charset at all please can someone suggest either a work-around or more importantly a solution to the issue?
    Please Note:-
    1. Within Adobe, Edit -> Preferences -> Internet option it's compulsory for our users to have "Display PDF in browser" ticked!
    2. We cannot prevent a Charset from being present within the Content-Type of the response sent to the client, hence this issue.
    Many Thanks in advance,
    Martin.

    Bill,
This is exactly the same behavior I observed when I rendered a PDF stored in a database through a .NET page. If I chose to save it, it would open fine after the save, but if I chose to open it in the browser without saving it, I would get the error.
The problem was not with the PDF or Acrobat. It was with the way I was delivering the PDF. Putting the following code before my binarywrite fixed the issue completely:
    Response.ClearHeaders()
    Response.ClearContent()
    Response.ContentType = "application/octet-stream"
    Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "attachment; filename=" + saveFilename)
where saveFileName is the name you want to give the PDF.
You can use 'inline' instead of 'attachment' above if you just want the PDF to open (no option to save first). You can also use 'pdf' instead of 'octet-stream' (not sure the difference).
The trouble seems to be that .NET puts some info in the header and/or content by default prior to anything your code says to write. If you don't clear this, IE has an issue with it. Other browsers seem to ignore it.
Bottomline is that this is an issue the website programmer needs to fix and is not something the user can fix by changing some setting(s).
    I hope this helps.

  • I apparently got stung with the Adobe flash virus.  Now I cannot open any .pdf files from the internet.

I apparently got stung with the Adobe flash virus and now I cannot open any Adobe .pdf files from the internet.  Fix?

Go to F_Secure's Flashback Removal Tool web page, download their Flashback trojan detection/removal tool, and follow the instructions you find there.
Also install the latest java update which also tries to remove these trojans.
Java for OS X Lion 2012-003
And only download the adobe flash plugin from the adobe site.
    Update:
Just because you cannot download pdf may not be an indication of the trojan.  There's been a number of reports about problems like that with pdf's.  Look at the More Like This section on the right side of this page.

  • I cannot open any pdf files from internet with this reader.

I cannot open any pdf files with this reader, please advise.

What is your operating system?  What is your browser?  What is your Reader version?  What exactly means "cannot"?

  • I cannot recover my pdf files from ibooks after upgrading to os 6

Does anyone know how to recover pdf files from ibooks after os 6 upgrade?

In your next-to-last post, you said: "... when I recovered the iBooks app, it was empty due to having a different owner of the app."
I'm suggesting you change the owner of the app and maybe then it won't be empty.
You can delete/remove the app and get your own from the app store and install it.  Maybe then you'll see your PDFs.

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 installed but cannot read any PDF file from a Browser window

I have a new(-ish) PC running Vista and had Adobe Acrobat v9 installed.  However I cannot open PDF files when trying to view from a Browser on a web site.  IE8, Firefox and Chrome all produce the same error that claims I need to install Adobe 8 or 9.  Have searched "Manage add-ons" and found Adobe enabled.  Have hunted around but cannot seem to find a way to fix this.  Any ideas?  This seems so fundamental that it is difficult to believe that (a) it happened in the first place and (b) that there is not an obvious way to fix it!

Are you on a PC with a profile setup?
    Assuming you are,
Rename your profile to something like PROFILE.OLD and then relog into the PC.  If the PDF's open without issue, you can remove the Abode folders in the old profile under Documents and Settings\%profile%\Application Data and Local Settings\Application Data.
Rename the new profile to yet something else like PROFILE.NEWOLD.   Then rename your PROFILE.OLD to its original name.  Confirm that you have removed the above folders from this existing profile.   Perform MIGWIZ I.E. Export files and settings to a folder. Now rename the profiles so that the .NEWOLD is the active profile and run migwiz there - bringing in your old settings.  These steps are only needed if you wish to preserve all the data and settings from your old profile.
    Hope this helps!

  • Error: I cannot view any PDF files without launching Reader and accepting end User agreement.  I have already downloaded Reader.

I am getting an error message when I go to open a PDF file on my MAC that says "Before viewing PDF documents in this browser you must launch Adobe Reader and accept the end user agreement.  I have already downloaded Reader many times and followed all of the troubleshooting options.  I have matched up my software, which is the latest version and checked to make sure my internet security is enabling java script.  I don't know what to do.  Please help.

Chrome uses it's own pdf viewer. That's why you don't get the message.
If you are still having the problem on a Mac try:
Make sure your files are not hidden : http://osxdaily.com/2009/02/25/show-hidden-files-in-os-x/
Quit Safari and Adobe Reader if running.
    Go to HD/<Users>/<user name>/Library/Preferences/ delete com.adobe.Reader.plist
    Launch Adobe Reader from /Applications/
You should be prompted to accept EULA.
If on a Windows machine, do what Bernd described above. Launch Adobe Reader on it's own, not by double clicking a pdf or a link in a browser.

  • Why I cannot see downloaded PDF files from the web?

I'm getting a message: "The file could not be opened. It may be demaged or use a file format that Preview (or PDF) doesn't recognize".
However my PDF is updated and it works with my older PDF files saved on my Mac.
    Thanks for your help.

    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste (command-V) into the text box that opens.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
I've seen an unconfirmed report that the "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you might need to remove it as well, if applicable.
Test. If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • Cannot view a pdf file in Adode Reader 10 using IE8

I just upgraded to Adobe reader X and I use IE8. I click on a link to a pdf (which contains a table of contents) but rather than being able to view the pdf, it automatically prompts me to "save as" rather than just leave the window open so I can read the page (and use the disk button I used to see on reader 9 to save later if I want).  How do I change the settings in Reader 10 so this Save As.. prompt no longer comes up automatically so I can just view the pdf??
    Thanks
    MJ

    No.

  • Cannot combine 2 pdf files from diff pdf writers w/Pro X

I am trying to combine 2 existing .pdf files using Acrobat Pro X.
I have never encountered this before after almost a year of using the product.
The first .pdf file was created using Pro X (combining several MS word documents)
The second .pdf file was created using the export to pdf function in ESRI's ArcMap v 10.0.3.3600 software.  This is the files that is skipped when creating the document.
When combining i get a fatal error on the exported map. I am confused because I have been combining these types of file combinations all winter, (the 'bad" files were generated in early feb 2012).  I am at a total loss.
I do not even know what to look for in the files to find out what is not compatable.
    Thanks in advance!

If there is no markup in the map (e.g., links and bookmarks), then you might try printing the map to a new PDF. If that works, then it is a matter of figuring out why the map had problems. You might check the font embedding and such, a likely problem.

  • I can view a pdf file from work but not from home on same laptop

Running Windows 7 Home Premium. Adobe 11. Any ideas?

Can I download to the hard drive when I am at home? Or do I have to download to the hard drive when I am at work (That is where I can open it and view it)?
I'm not sure how to download that to my hard drive.
Well, if you CAN'T access it at home, it'd be kind of hard to download it there. Download it at work and you can open it "locally" wherever the laptop happens to be.
And PLEASE... don't reply from your email. it puts ALL of your personal information on display in a public forum. NOT SAFE!
