Cannot work on raw nikon D750 files

Hi there
I just upgraded to CC as my LR4 couldn't read the RAW (NEF) files from my D750. However, they are still not 'available'. I have no idea how to fix this....any ideas?
Thanks

It should be in the next Lightroom update. The current version came out before the D750 came out. In the mean time you can convert to dng and edit your raw files in Lightroom just fine: Lightroom Support for Nikon D750 - YouTube

  • Does PS support RAW Nikon .NEF files

Can RAW (Nikon .NEF) files be imported into PS Elements 11

    Hi there
Yes, PS Elements 11 supports RAW files with the Camera Raw plugin. Just make sure you have the latest version of RAW installed and that you are using a compatible camera.
Here are some additional links, as well as a list of supported Nikon cameras:

  • TS2518 My RAW (nikon .NEF) files changing to a dull, darker version of themselves after selecting them for the first time after import.

My RAW (nikon .NEF) files are literally changing to a dull, darker version of themselves after selecting them for the first time after import. I.e. The correct photo (light/color/etc) seems to be there and then a second later the photo changes. It's almost like it's showing a quick enhanced version then back to basic raw image. Started within last two updates.
Is there a fix or is this the straw that forces a switch to Lightroom?

Just recall that Aperture (or any other 3rd party raw converter) has NO information about the JPEG preview and how it was made.  That information is camera-vendor proprietary.
Also note that there are like 6 "picture styles" in camera and this change you're seeing is entirely dependent on how you have them set.  If you have your camera set to "vivid" or something you'll see more of a change than if your on-camera is set to "faithful."
That said, people here ALSO complain that Aperture's initial renders are TOO vivid, the exact opposite of your complaint, so you can't please everybody (in some cases, it seems you can't please ANYBODY ;-)
Aperture provides a starting point.  Again, if you don't like it, you can tell Aperture to go with a "punchier" interpretation at its first render.  In the import dialog, try setting Aperture to use the "auto enhance" preset which is built in.  Aperture will add a little vibrancy adjustment, and it will add a curve, which will greatly add punch to the image.  If you want adjustments in a different direction, you can create a preset and set it at import.
The only thing Aperture CANNOT do is what you're asking, which is "take the JPEG that my camera vendor generates through some voodoo and try and render the raw file just like that."  It's, unfortunately, impossible to do.

  • How can i open a raw nikon D300s file in photoshop 7.0.1? [was: rescueranch]

How can i open a raw nikon D300s file in photoshop 7.0.1?

The D300s was first supported in Camera Raw 5.5
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
Raw 5.5 is only compatible with Photoshop CS4 and later
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html
    Your options:
    Join the Cloud, or
    Buy CS6, or
Convert the Raw files from the D300s to DNGs using Adobe's free DNG converter
    http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/extend.displayTab2.html
Then edit the DNGs in Photoshop 7.0.1

  • Trouble with Adobe Camera Raw, Nikon D750, Photoshop CC 2014

I have Photoshop CC 2014 running on an HP ZBook 15 with Windows 7 Professional. I recently downloaded Camera Raw 8.7.311. I did not install the DNG converter. I shoot raw in my Nikon D750. I download the NEF images to my HP laptop using a memory card reader. I installed Bridge from Creative Cloud. When I check in Photoshop CC 2014, it says the Camera Raw 8.7.1.311 plug-in is present. But if I try to open a NEF image, it fails and says it is an unsupported file type. When I go into Bridge, the "Open using Camera Raw" option is faded and cannot be selected. So what do I do? TIA, Rob

Success! My problem was I had the old version of the Nikon software on my computer and I had used that to download the photos. I copied the NEF files directly from my memory card reader and then could open them no problem in Photoshop CC 2014. Many thanks to gener7 and all who made suggestions.

  • Do I need LR 5 in order to convert my Nikon D750 files from NEF to DNG files?

I currently have LR 4 and the new Nikon D750. I was using the Nikon View to convert my files from NEF to TIFF and get some editing done for clients previews. I know the Camera Raw 8.7 just came out on October 2nd and I am trying to download it but it will not install on my computer as I cannot find the short cut or the installed application when I go to all my applications on my computer. I open LR 4 and cannot see it in there either. What am I doing wrong? Do I need LR 5 in order to use the new Camera Raw 8.7? I have Windows 8 so it is not an unsupported computer version as was stated on your site where you can click the download for the Camera Raw 8.7.

Camera RAW is a Plugin that is used by PS CS, PS CC and PS Elements you cannot install it in Lightroom.
Each Lightroom update has an equivalent of Camera Raw built into the application, it does not use the Camera Raw Plugin.
LR 4 has the equivalent of Camera Raw version 7. e.g the latest version of LR 4.4.1 has the equivalent of Camera Raw 7.4.1.
The present LR 5.6 has the equivalent of Camera Raw 8.6 so when a new update for LR is released version 5.7 it will have the equivalent of Camera Raw 5.7.
However you can download the Adobe DNG Converter 8.7 RC and it can be used to convert your D750 files to DNG and import them into LR 4.
The converter is available at Adobe Labs.

  • Iphoto v5.0.4 and RAW Nikon D1X files

Iphoto will not import Nikon D1X RAW files, only TIFF's & JPG's. Is there an update for this problem ?As I always tend to shoot in RAW initially.
    Dan Rose

    Hi Jack!
If you're new working with RAW files, your right, it just doesn't make sense. RAW <imho> is a bit overrated. One thing you will need to keep in mind when shooting in RAW, is you will still need to take a well exposed image. What RAW files will allow are CHANGES in all areas of the image v. JPEG which may allow you to ADJUST a few settings in the image. My only suggestion would be to kepp playing around with PSE until you get the hang of it, it is an excellent image editing software. But realize, a well exposed JPEG and RAW file are hard to tell apart...
Personally, I do not directly download RAW files through iPhoto but will create a folder and download to here, and simply drage folder to iPhoto to import (which are then 'converted' into JPEG files). This way I have the original RAW images safely located outside of iPhoto as well as in iPhoto. You should set Elements as your choice of application to edit files inside iPhoto.
    Good luck, Rick

  • "Edit In" Photoshop CC not working for RAW or DNG files after applying LR 5.3 and Camera Raw 8.3

I just applied the Lightroom 5.3 and Camera Raw 8.3 updates and now am no longer able to open RAW or DNG files into Photoshop CC. When I select a file and choose "Edit In" Photoshop, photoshop will launch, then nothing will happen. After 2 to 5 minutes, an error will popup in Lightroom saying "The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop CC could not be launched." An error I've never seen before. When I click "Ok", Lightroom will show that it's "preparing a file for editing" in the upper left, it will create and save a psd to disk and in the catalog (another new behavior), then it will open in photoshop. All other file types (jpgs, tiff, psd) seem to work/open fine between applications. No difference if I open photoshop prior to selecting "Edit In". Selecting "Edit In" other applications, like Viveza, work fine.
I tried first deleting preference files in both applications. No luck. Ditto for plugins. Notta. Eventually I completely uninstalled and fresh installed Photoshop, Lightroom, and Bridge from the cloud. Same deal...can't open raw/dng files into Photoshop.
I'm at a complete loss, dead in the water, with a mountain of editing work piling on top of me. Kicking myself for applying the upgrades, which I had been delaying for some time to avoid just such a cluster%#$. Ugh.
    I'm on a PC running Windows 7 64bit.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

In the normal situation, LR needs to see a PS installed for it to detect the Edit In PS option is possible, so if you uninstall both, then install PS, first, then LR.  Of course with this release there may be some hiccup that requires installing either one or the other, again, but if you've uninstalled both and are reinstalling both, then install PS, first.

  • Photoshop Element 12 et Raw Nikon D750

    Bonjour,
    Comment pratiquer ?
    Merci

  • CS6 can't open Raw Nikon D4 files

I cannot open Raw files from my Nikon D4 in CS6 beta but I can in CS5 as it updated Camera Raw recently for it to work with the D4. Can I update CS6 for it to open Nikon D4 Raw files ?

Hello, ACR 7 and ACR 6.7 and Lightroom 4 do not support the same cameras, it was done to get the products out of the door as soon as possible.
But you can use the DNG converter 6.7 on the files to be able to open them in ACR 7 in CS6 beta. see: http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/2012/03/raw-support-in-lightroom-and-camera-raw.ht ml
Also, it is a good moment to remind @Nikon_USA or @Nikon_Photo that they should support DNG in their cameras.
They are using useful engineering time in all raw converters teams, and even have to update their own converter at the release of each camera!
And if they are concerned with trade secrets, there is always private maker notes for that!

  • Opening raw nikon 5200 files

What plug in do i need to open Nikon 5200 raw files in cs5?

There's no direct support for your camera in CS5.
It would require ACR 7.3 or higher, which only work with CS6.
You can download and run the free Adobe DNG Converter 7.4 to convert your raw Canon files to raw DNGs which you can then open in CS5.

  • How do I open RAW Nikon D600 files on PS Elements 9?

I've just bought a Nikon D600 but I can't open the raw files in PS Elements 9, what do I need to do, thanking you in advance for your help, David

    You have two alternatives:
    (1) Upgrade to PSE 11. (2) Download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your raw files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the files will open in all versions of PSE (keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)
Windows download click here DNG Converter 7.3
Mac download click here DNG Converter 7.3
You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:

  • All of a sudden my RAW (Nikon D7100) files are dark after importing

Could anyone tell me why all of a sudden my NEF files from my Nikon D7100 raw files turn dark after importing them to Lightroom 4.4? I did use Dactive lighting setting in camera...is this why? Is there anyway to stop this from happening? THanks!

    I can't argue with that.
    dj_paige wrote:
it does not help eith raw images.
That would be truer if stated thusly:
Having ADL on will make for darker initial rendering in Lightroom and reveal non-optimal ADL setting as under-exposed images.
However (and contrary to popular belief), that does NOT mean there is no value using ADL in conjunction with Lightroom for post-processing - quite the contrary: there are ALL the same benefits as when using ADL in conjunction with NX2, *except* that the compensations are applied automatically in NX2, and non-optimal setting manifests as a slight reduction in shadow image quality and not as under-exposed images when using NX2 instead of Lightroom for post-processing.
