Cannot write to iTunes

I cannot create AAC version iTunes nor modify lyrics as I get the message: 'You dont have write access for your iTunes or a folder within it. To change permissions...'. I checked and have full permissions to all libraries under iTunes. I have Windows 7. Any advice?

I have an iMac G5 that I recently upgraded to
10.4.10. I've had a 160 firewire lacie hard disk for
over a year, and all of my iTunes content is stored
and called from that device.
beginning today, I cannot add to my library, I am
getting an error that says cannot read from or write
to that lacie hard disk.
I've tried manually copying the files over via the
Finder, and that is yielding an error (error code
-36).
Error -36 is an i/o error. This means that you almost certainly have a hardware problem. This might be with the FireWire cable; replace the cable. It might be with a FireWire port on the disk; put the cable into a different port. It might be with the FireWire port on the Mac; try a different port. It might be with the FireWire controller on the Mac; try a different Mac. It might be with the FireWire controller on the disk; put the disk into a different enclosure.
Unfortunately, what it's most likely to be is with the disk itself. I hope you have a backup.
any thoughts? I've also had iChat problems since
introducing 10.4.10, wonder if that's part of the
problem.
Unlikely.

You mean you can't get to the Summary pane?
If you  have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar

  • I changed the hard disc my library was stored on and iTunes cannot write to it

I recently replaced the HD my iTunes library was on from a 500GB to a 1 TB drive.  Although iTunes can see the media stored on the new drive and recognizes it as the drive containing my library, I cannot download my iTunes purchases to it.  It says I am not authorized to read or write to it.  In the drive properties, I am told I can both read and write.  How do I fix this problem?

Is the new HD formatted Mac OS Extended (journaled)...

  • Cannot Write or Read to disk Error during iPhone 3g 3.1 sync

Searched the forum with no luck. Just upgraded to 3.1 on my 3G and I cannot sync without it stopping with the error - Cannot write or read disk. It seems like its almost random on what file it picks to stop on - the file plays fine in iTunes 9. Any suggestions?

    Hi,
Restore the Touch. There is no easy way to remove files from an iPod as it classes media on the iPod as "read-only" - There are software products that can be used to remove media from an iPod, but it is not an official method and you risk causing more damage.
If you really need the files on the Touch then use Google to find a program to remove files, there are a few, but do so at your own risk!
    Kind regards,
    Peter.

  • Cannot write review for app in App Store

For some reason I cannot write a review for an app in App Store. I get:
"We could not complete your Tunes Store request. An unknown error occured (5002). There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later."

same here, I questioned apple about it, but just got a runaround...
"I'm sorry you ran into error 5002 when you tried to use write a comment on the iTunes Store. I can certainly appreciate your concern and I am delighted to assist you with this today.
Roy, this error was caused by a temporary issue with the iTunes Store that should be resolved now. Please check the iTunes Store again. All features should be working well.
If the problem persists, or if you have other questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me again, Roy. I hope you continue to enjoy all the features that the iTunes Store has to offer. Have a great day!"

  • Cannot start up iTunes after disc defragmentation

So yesterday I made a disc defragmentation on both my hard drives and now I cannot start up my iTunes. When I click on the iTunes icon it begins to install Itunes but stop and givs me a message saying" Cannot write to file
    C:Program\ipod\bin\ipodService.Resources\fr.lproj\PodServiceLocalized.dll
Make sure you have access to the catalog".
If I want to uninstall my iTunes I get another error message with an error code 2330
I'm lost! I cannot start up my iTunes, I cannot uninstall it and I cannot reinstall. Can anyone please help me?

This error suggests a filing system problem or a file has been corrupted.

  • I have a new Windows tablet computer with limited hard drive space, and cannot transfer my itunes library to the hard drive. Can I run t media from an external hard drive? If so, how do I transfer my files?

I have a new Windows tablet computer with limited hard drive space (32 GB), and cannot transfer my itunes library to the hard drive. Can I run itunes from an external hard drive? I have tried to follow some of the directions on this site, but am having no success. Thanks.

iTunes will run fine with the media on an external drive.
However, I suggest that a tablet computer with a tiny hard drive is not ideal as the primary computer for managing an iTunes library, even a small one. If you have another machine, perhaps a big, boxy, inexpensive old desktop with a decent amount of storage, that might be a better choice.

  • IPad app store message "Cannot connect to iTunes store"

Recently my iPad (wifi) & my husband's iPhone (AT&T)have been unable to connect to the app store or iTunes. We get the message "cannot connect to iTunes store". The only thing that I have done recently is download a kindle book & add a Bluetooth keyboard. The keyboard was never paired with the iPhone so I don't think that could be the issue. The iPad & iPhone have both been updated, but that hasn't resolved the issue. There was no problem connecting to iTunes through the PC to run the update. Why would both devices suddenly have the same problem? One is wifi & one is 3G so it's not the connection. They have nothing in common except the error. Any help would be appreiciated since this is getting frustrating. Thanks!

Hi, Thank you!  I did as you suggested but it didn't work.  So, this time I cleared all apps out of the tray, signed out of my account at the store, and did a hard reboot.  Then on my desktop I signed out of my account in iTunes and then synced.  I have signed back into the store on the iPad but still get the same message.

  • Mid 2007 iMac SSD in optical bay - cannot write to last block of device

    Hi All,
I've just replaced my optical drive in my 20" mid 2007 iMac (Dual core, 2.4 Ghz, 2 Gb RAM running Mavericks) with a solid state drive (Crucial MX100). The plan is to transfer my boot disk to this drive while keeping my 1 Tb HDD for media and such.
I followed the ifixit guide and it all went smoothly, however when I try to partition or erase the new SSD using Disk Utility, it tells me "Operation failed - cannot write to last block of the device". After googling, I found some answers here that suggested the optical bay cable may be faulty, so I bought a replacement and swapped it in, but no such luck, same problem. I also saw some threads suggesting that the boot disk should be in the original hard drive spot, but since this isn't the boot disk (yet) this shouldn't be the issue.
My computer recognizes the new SSD but won't allow me to partition it. Any suggestions on how to proceed?
    Thanks!

    3. The new disk is just bad.
OK. If that's the case, I'll just get another disk.
Lots of problems with that hybrid drives on Mac's on these forums, get another one that's 7,200 RPM and from Western Digital, not Seagate.
With a 7,200 RPM you get more performance across the entire drive, not just what's cached in the small flash portion of the hybrid.

    1. Hybrid drives: I'm on number 8 in 6 different machines, no problems at all, what happens when you try?

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year. Then see if you can connect to the store.
