Cannt close itunes, have to end program

itunes works fine except when i try and shut down the program,
it freezes and i am forced to end program
i uninstalled apple mobile device support and it would close down, but then my ipod touch would not be recognised as being connected by my computer or itunes.
help!?

It finally seems like it finished uploading... only 6000 of the 13000 songs...
You may be right about selecting smaller numbers at a time. I know this problem happened before too.
I keep most of my music on a side drive to my laptop (PC) and recently the computer had formerly named it m,y F drive, then last time when i hooked up it called it the E drive... go figure, anyway seemed iTunes considered it new and so the match started all over.
I have music files on both my laptop and the side drive.
Much of my music has been converted from LP's and Cassettes (I'm old...;)
Next time if I have issues I'll try your idea of matching a few at a time.
I am able to select small groups and match them on top of the matched ones already completed.
This is really cool to get all these songs on our iphone(s) at will.... great when traveling or I want my wife (4000 miles away) to have access to other songs...

Does anyone else have this problem - I can't close iTunes!

Does any else get this really annoying problem? When I run iTunes, after a while the 'Accessing iTunes Store' display line at the top of the screen gets stuck (the stripey horizontal line just shows moving stripes forever). When this happens, I can no longer access the iTunes store AND I can't close the program! iTunes has not actually hung though, and I can still play music. The only way I can close iTunes is by killing it using Task Manager. If I click on the close icon, nothing happens.
I had this problem on version 7 and it's still there after upgrading to version 8. I might even have had it on earlier versions, I can't remember. Also, I had the same problem on another PC! When I transferred my library and account details to the new PC, the problem came with them.
I really like iTunes, but I'm totally fed up with this ridiculous problem which I've now had for a long time. I can still buy music as long as I do it before the problem hits. But it always happens eventually (after say 30 mins? Maybe less). iTunes diagnostics is no help. It always tells me that everything's working fine.
Any help, very much appreciated.

QUite a lot of freexing problems have been associated with Bonjour. This FAQ tells you what it does and how to temporarily disable it as a test.

If turning off bonjour solves your problem and you don't need what it does you can uninstall it and iTunes will still work.

I tried this, but no luck. I went to Previous System>Users. There is nothing inside the "Users" folder, so I hit a dead end.
I can find my new e-mails -- those that came in since I re-installed the system -- in my NEW system (which I did to see if I was correctly understanding the advice), by going to Users>Home>Library>Mail>POP account name>Inbox.
Let me add a new question: I am running PhotoShop C3. It opens OK, and I can use it, but when it opens I get this message: "One or more files for Adobe Application Support folder are missing. Please re-run the PhotoShop installer."
I don't like re-installing working programs if I can avoid it, because it always seems to lead to other issues. Any idea what files are missing, and where it/they might be in the Previous System folder?

I have the same problem - every time I close firefox (using either the red x or by selecting file ---> exit) the program appears to close normally, but the firefox.exe *32 process continues to run. If I try to re-open firefox normally I get a message that the program is still running and I need to go into task manager and manually kill the process.
I could also kill the process from the command prompt, but both of those methods are slow and annoying. This issue has only been occurring for the last 24 hours or so; to the best of my knowledge I haven't downloaded any new software or updated any plug-ins that would have caused a switch from firefox's normal awesomeness. Norton doesn't show any new viruses or other nastiness on my computer.
I'm running 64 bit Windows 7 Home Premium edition.

Uninstall your existing copy of iTunes. Delete any copies of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer files from your downloads areas for your web browsers and download a fresh copy of the iTunes installer from the Apple website:

(The current build of the 11.1.4.62 installer was changed a few days ago, which fixed the bulk of the reports of MSVCR80.dll/R6034/APSDaemon.exe/Error-7/AMDS-could-not-start trouble ... but the build number on the installer was not changed. So we're trying to make sure you do the reinstall using a "new good" 11.1.4.62 installer instead of an "old bad".)
Does the install with the new copy of the installer go through properly? If so, does that clear up the error message?

When viewing an album on the iPhone you can tap "Photos" at the bottom and that will show all photos by date. Unfortunately though it is all photos, not just the album you are currently viewing.
What I have done is the following. On the computer I have a main folder (e.g. iPhone photos) and then make sub-folders within that. Placing photos that will be synched to the iPhone into various subfolders gives quite a bit of organizational capablility. In iTunes when you select the main folder to sync, the sub-folders will show on the iPhone as separate albums. Beyond that, in one case where I really wanted a specific sort within an album I renamed the photos on the computer (something like A-picxxx, B-picxxx) so they sorted on the computer alphabetically in the order I want on the phone. That sort order was maintained after the sync.
Note that each time you sync using iTunes, the non-Camera Roll pictures on the phone will be set to match the current iTunes settings/photos -- so you can experiment.

You need to buy Snow Leopard from the online Apple Store. You don't need Mountain Lion.

The results show that you have a proxy server set and this can often cause problems with iTunes.
The proxy setting can be accessed in Internet options>>Connections>>LAN Settings.
Try un-checking the proxy server check box.
It might also be a good idea to run a malware check if you didn't know you had the proxy server set.

64-bit itunes version stops sync when optimizing on my 5 days old notepad LENOVO G570.
windows 7home premiun constantly closes itunes during this optimization.
When i did troubleshooting it said application is incompatible, but this is the version that is supposed to work with my system.

Yeah I am not disputing that it is doing what it is supposed to. I am just disputing that it is misleading. I think it should be very clear and state that this is a 32 bit version of iTunes specific for installing on 64 bit versions of Vista.

Yes, you are right. If I manually code the same amount of those components in the JSF pages instead of generating them dynamically, the server will still run out of memory. That is to say, JSF pages might not accommodate a great deal of concurrent visiting. If I upgrade the server to just allow 1,000 teachers making their own test papers at the same time, but when over 2,000 students take the same questionnaire simultaneously, the server will need another upgrading. So I have to do what you have told me, using JS+DOM instead of upgrading the server endlessly.
