Cano Scan constantly crashes with Lide 80 Scanner USB

My scanner and its software works, sometimes on my 1st gen iMac G5. I rarely get two successful scans without it crashing and requiring reopenin the Canon software, I have never had three scans in a row. Have now sent over 200 reports to Apple over six months and nothing has changed.
Anyone else having this problem? I have reinstalled the drivers multiple times.
Any ideas?
thanks for any help you can provide

Hi, fish1947.
1. You wrote: "I have never had three scans in a row. Have now sent over 200 reports to Apple over six months and nothing has changed."Be advised that you will not receive any feedback from the reports submitted to Apple. See the last paragraph in "Mac OS X 10.4: Reopening an application after it unexpectedly quits."
2. Some additional steps you can take:2.1. Discard the preferences for the scanner and the CanoScan software, if any. Look in the following folders:• Your Home > Library > Preferences folder
• Your Home > Library > Preferences > ByHost folderfor files with names beginning with com.canon* and either drag them to your desktop or the Trash.
2.2. Assure you have the latest version of the Canon software. Check the Canon Web site.
2.3. Contact Canon.
2.4. As a general check, run the Procedure specified in my "Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption" FAQ. Perform the steps therein in the order specified.Good luck!

  • CS6 photoshop constantly crashing with OpenGL. Need help

OpenGL seems to crash randomly, but constantly. Previously running CS3, with few issues. I recently upgrade the graphics card after OpenGL testing failed, and it seem to be the most likely solution based on the old card.

  • Premiere Pro is constantly crashing with Mavericks (OS 10.9)

I'm on a late 2013 iMac with 24gigs of RAM and the NVIDIA GeForce GT 755M 1024 MB GPU.
Premiere Pro is crashing constantly. These are bad crashes where the whole screen flickers or pixelates. I'm cutting RED Epic footage that was shot in 5k, my partner is cutting on an iMac with os 10.8 and doesn't seem to be having any problems.
It happens when I'm in the Timeline or the Source viewer or the Project bins.
We're on a deadline for the project and it feels like I'm seriously screwed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
And, I've already taken the iMac in and had the whole logic board and GPU replaced, still didn't fix the problem.

    Hi aejablon,
Please check whether Mercury playback engine is set to CUDA or Open Cl. If it is on open CL switch to CUDA or software mode and check. You can also try to give permission to the Preferences folder by following the below steps.
    Go to user>username>library>preferences>premiere pro>7.0
Right click on 7.0 and select get info
Click on the lock and enter the password to unlock it.
Cick on "+" and add permission to everyone with read and write access.

  • Adobe Flash Player 11.9 r900 constantly crashes with a data execution prevention error.

This happens with almost every website I go to.

Hi moreofless, did a separate crash dialog indicate that it was a DEP error (sometimes the Windows crash dialog will indicate this)?
In some cases a DEP error can indicate that malware is attempting to interact with Flash, or that the Flash media you were using was malicious. It may be worth running a few supplemental scans just in case. The support article has suggestions on free tools that have proven reliable for Firefox users: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]].
A common problem on Windows Vista and higher is incompatibility with the protected mode feature of the Flash Player plugin. Usually this leads to frequent, unsubtle problems, so you might not have this problem, but just in case, you could disable it.
See this support article from Adobe under the heading "Last Resort": [http://forums.adobe.com/message/4468493#TemporaryWorkaround Adobe Forums: How do I troubleshoot Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?]
Or if there are problems with permission, try this way:
    (1) In a My Computer or Windows Explorer window, open this folder:
    C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash
If that folder does not exist, then you are using 32-bit Windows, and you can open the following folder instead:
    C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash
''(Note: This folder exists on both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows, but on 64-bit Windows Firefox uses the Flash player in the SysWOW64 folder instead.)''
    (2) Check for a file named mms.cfg:
'''''Note:''' If you do not see file extensions such as .ocx, .dll, .exe, and .cfg on the files in this folder, then Windows may be hiding these from you. In order to work with file names accurately, it is best to unhide the extensions. This Microsoft support article has the steps: [http://support.microsoft.com/kb/865219].''
    (A) ''If mms.cfg exists,'' drag it to your '''Documents folder''' where you can edit it without being bothered about administrator privileges
    (B) ''If mms.cfg does not exist,'' open your '''Documents folder''', right-click > New > Text File and name the new file mms.cfg
    (3) Open mms.cfg from Documents into a text editor such as Notepad.
Add this on its own line (I put it last):
    ProtectedMode=0
Save the file and close Notepad.
    (4) Hold down the Ctrl key and drag the mms.cfg file back to the Flash folder to make a copy there, keeping the original in Documents
This change will take effect once the Flash plugin is completely unloaded, which may require exiting and restarting Firefox (allow a few minutes for all the Flash processes in memory to terminate after exiting Firefox).

  • HT1338 Every time I try to use software update the window opens to scan then crashes with an error message.

I am having problems with a BT Yahoo account where the home page opens but it will not let me open e-mail. When you click on mail it takes you to an upgrade page where there is a button for you to continue without upgrading. When you click on that it freezes. To compound this problem I cannot access the upgrade ststem on the Mac itself as it tells me there is an error. I am stuck on 10.3.9 as I purchased a 10.4 upgrade disk (official) ages ago but every time I ran it the computer crashed so I gave up on it. I still require classic on this machine on the odd occassion hence why I am stuck in the past. My iMac runs on 10.6.8 and the mail is accessable on that with no problem. HELP!!

Start up from that Mac OS X 10.4 disc you have.  Insert disc in optical drive and start up with the C key held down.  On the first Installer screen, from the menu bar, under Utilities, select to run Disk Utility.
In Disk Utility, select your startup volume (usually "Macintosh HD") in the sidebar and go to the First Aid tab.  Run Verify Disk.  If it reports a problem, that may be the reason for your long-term difficulties. You hard drive volume has data corruption.
You can try Repair Disk in Disk Utility.  However, it would be a very good idea to have a backup of the data on that disk, in case the attempt to repair makes the problem worse.

  • Xfinity TV website constantly crashing with different error codes

I am extremely fed up with this website. I constantly get 900 codes, which were fixed for a short while and now I can't load any videos with a 422 code. What is the major malfunction with this website? I never have issues streaming video on any other site but this one, and this is on every web browser. When are these issues going to be fixed? Being that, I only watch tv on the website, this makes me want to cancel Comcast.

  • Firefox constantly crashing with Windows 7

My computer was upgraded about a week ago with a new hard drive, new version of Windows (7 64 bit) installed on it, and everything else newly installed and up to date as far as I know, including the latest version of Firefox (26.0). Prior to this I had been using Firefox on XP without issue, but now with Windows 7, Firefox crashes multiple times a day. I did not have this problem before. It doesn't seem to matter what kind of page I'm on when it crashes. All I know is it's becoming almost pointless to use because I don't know how long it will work before it crashes again. I love Firefox and want to be able to use it normally! Here is a list of the crashes. Please help!

  • Connection constantly dropping with edimax ew-7612uan USB adapter

    Hi there,
I have just installed a newly purchased edimax ew-7612uan USB wireless adapter, the problem that I'm getting is that the connection works fine on boot however it keeps dropping very frequently.
This can be reset by running netctl restart my-network. which is a temporary fix but I can't keep on doing this every 5 minutes or so when the connection drops.
I don't think there is a problem with the USB adapter as it appears to work fine in windows (I don't work fine with windows though!).
The same problem has happened on both of my Arch computers... I don't use any other distributions so I don't know if this is an arch specific problem or a general Linux problem. It also happens when using the live disk.
The old adapter is still installed in the box but once I can get this one working properly it will be removed.
The output of dmesg is as follows

If there is anything else I can provide that may help please ask, this has been driving me mad for days now!

Looks like a driver bug. You could try multiple things, as a start:
    - switch channel
    - toggle encryption
    - different usb port

  • Internet Explorer Crashes with Windows 7 64 bit

Internet Explorer has constantly crashes with my Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium system.  I have tried every troubleshooting method there is and it still crashes.  I tried uninstalling the Windows update and it was wiped out so I did a system restore.
I still don't feel safe.  Any more solution I could try?

    Hi,
You can try the following suggestions to check if the problem be solved:
    Try to run IE in
    No Add-ons.
    Try to restore IE setting.
    Try to use
    Fix It tool.
    Try to use

  • PC Shuts down and Flash constantly crashes

I have no idea how to fix my current problem which is causing a great annoyance as my computer shuts down multiple times daily. Here’s what I know. Not only does my computer crash but my Flash Player is constantly crashing with Firefox displaying the message “the Adobe flash plug in has crashed”. I have the latest version of the flash plug (16.0.0.305) in installed as well as the latest version of Firefox, (version 36.0). In response to these crashes, I followed whatever info I could to solve the problem with Flash, which included: updating all my drivers, plug ins are up to date, I have no viruses or spyware, and Windows are up to date. I have restarted Firefox in safe mode and the crashes keep happening. When looking at my reliability history in the Action Center, it shows over and over again that the all critical issues are due to “Plugin container for Firefox stopped working” with no solution offered.
What I find interesting is that while I’m working on my machine, Flash crashes but not my machine. The PC seems to shut down on being inactive for a period of half an hour. It also crashes whether I’m using Firefox or not. Also strange was this was happening before I installed and reformatted a hard drive and it’s still happening after a clean Windows 7 Prof install.
I am trying to keep Flash and Firefox on my machine. Help, what can I do to solve this issue. I am at a loss as to what to try next.

    Hi Fred,
I had mentioned in my post that I already used Firefox in Safe Mode and it did not change anything. Crashing of both PC and Firefox continues. I also mentioned I already have run multiple antivirus programs, including MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware, AVG, and Comodo Cleaning Essentials and I do not have any virus and malware issues.
I can keep running malware programs but know this is not the issue.
    Any other ideas??
