Canon 1dsmkIII tether speed now better, but still no aperture tether?

so 10.5.6 fixed the speed problem when using the canon app....files now come in fast...great.....but still no direct support in aperture for tethered shooting? or am i missing something?
the problem now is the aperture hot folder script is waaaay too slow and drops 5 out of 8 frames...just skips over them when shooting fast....does anyone have a solution?
aperture is still a pro app? right?

shot tethered yesterday...dsmkIII via the canon utility, hot folder app into aperture.....not sure where the problem is but when i hit the buffer, everything freezes and it all has to be force quit and restated....not really a problem with canon utility, but the hot folder app is just so slow and a pain to set up....i think that might be the bottleneck....tried LR and C1 and neither have any problems....
i am very close to switching back to LR right now....one of the reasons to go with aperture was the built in tether support.....i understand that canon changed things, but is it really that hard to make this work? none of the canons work and with the 5DII out and selling like crazy, this should really be addressed....
just downloaded 2.4 raw update and had a silly little glimmer of hope that this might change things, but no luck....isn't aperture in for an update pretty soon anyway...nothing major, just a "clean-up"?

  • Installing LR4 Beta but still keep LR3.5

    Hi LR people just a quick question (maybe dumb question)...
    Can I install the LR4 Beta and still keep my LR3.5? I presume that I just install it in a different folder in my Applications? Did I get that right?
    Oh I am running a MAC Pro.
    Thanks everyone

    It will install at  /Applications/Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.app
    The default location for Lr3 was /Applications/Adobe Lightroom 3.app
    You can run both applications fine, but while Lr4 is in Beta it will not import you Lr3 catalog.
    Personally, for testing, I make a copy of some RAW files I already have in Lr3 then import those to Lr4 to experiment with.

  • The spinning delay circle became an increasing experience, went into Apple store, they said my Hard Drive was bad, paid to replace it.  Problem is better but still persists.  What can I do at this point?

    MacBook Pro 15" making me wait while circle spins.  Went to Apple Store, diagnosed a bad HD and replaced (HD is 65% full).  Spinning icon is less frequent but still a problem - what now?

    more than likely it is your video card. If it is ATI 2600XT, tell it bye-bye. The card is barely used at all in TDM or Safe Boot Mode. The 2600 and Lion and the issues with that card, even if it seems okay, is not.
    Depending on Windows OS as to how it mounts and sees your Lion HFSX (there is a nice HFSX driver from Paragon, and an NTFS driver for Lion too)
    480GB SSD is overkill for any system unless you are pushing CS6 2-3GB images and then for scratch. All you need for a boot drive is about 100GB.
    If you have an SSD now, then 1) you need to do a full image backup and restore (regularly as maintenance), and 2) TRIM Enabler
    Save Lion and you can always do a clean Lion install w/o going back to SL - but you might want to keep SL (dual boot) and handy if you run into anything you still need that required PowerPC/Rosetta
    FBDIMM RAM dies, Amazon has $32 kits of 4GB. And having all 8 DIMM slots filled improves things. If you need or want to and feel 16GB isn't overkill.
    SSD and issues are always possible. you should not just go along. not without a clone image. And you should have another drive w/ TRIM Enabler so that you can do a repair and "trim" what is needed.
    Clone a system with CCC regularly. Bootable. And can also be used by Setup Assistant.
    Install Lion over a heavily used SL system and there are likely remnants of old things that get in the way and left in there and not removed.

  • Ipod now charging, but still not showing in windows

    Hi people,
    I left a post a few days ago, when my computer would not even let the shuffle charge
    however,
    now the shuffle is charging and playing music, but windows or itunes still wont recognize it, so i cant try the disk manager approach or the ipod updater approach either!
    someone help!
    thanks

    If you are really using WindowsME it will never work in iTunes, you'll have to use 3rd party software such as Xplay or Winamp. As far as it appearing in Windows, be sure you are using a rear port on your computer and no other USB peripherals are conflicting with it. You migh also try using a short USB extension cable or port extender to get a better fit if your USB ports are spaced closely together.

  • Business number is now residential but still liste...

    Hi everyone, apologies if this has come up in another post but I couldn't find anything! When I moved house BT issued a new landline number, it turns out it previously belonged to a business which still lists the number on multiple google search results (even though it is now incorrect and updated on their official website) this means I am getting 15-20 calls at least from customers, suppliers, etc. for this company a day and it can take me ages to go through my answerphone!!!! Basically is their anything I can do to get the online listings changed other than manually go through the search results and contact every website to change their listings or politely ask the business to remove old listings? (If there is no obligation to do this then I can't imagine any business putting any time into that) Thank you for reading, Tom.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    All you can do is ask your service provider (BT?)  for a number change.
    There are some useful help pages here, for BT Broadband customers only, on my personal website.

  • B Noir or anyone HELP! error (-200) thats now gone but still got problems..

    ...I started off having problems with the -200 message but followed advice to uninstall and re-install Quicktime. This didn't work because it says i've got the new version of Quicktime already on my computer. I definitely haven't as i have gone to control panel/remove programs and deleted Quicktime i have also gone to Program Files to delete the folder from there. I can't do a System Restore so I need help! When i click on iTunes it comes up with "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close etc..." When I have clicked on more information about the error it comes up with:
    AppName: itunes.exe AppVer: 7.0.1.8 ModName: unknown ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 01f01040
    if that means anything.
    [Just incase as a side point if it is any use: when installing iTunes I had to 'End Process' msiexec.exe for it to complete installing otherwise it would freeze on the Registering Products part of the installation]
    Cheers For Any Help!

  • Code Doing Better But Still Problematic.; HELP

    The end result is that the java program will take input through a console from a User (employee) and figure the hours worked times pay rate, then print out everything like the following example:
    Employee Name: John Doe
    Hourly Pay Rate: 8.00
    Hours Worked: 40
    Total Pay: 320.00
    THAT's IT. I do have another class called Employee.java and Console.java, both of which do not have any errors. But the following has a few errors that don't make any sense. HELP. THANKS.
    In the EmployeeDriver.java class, the errors are:
    1. Malformed expression at line 15.
    2. Illegal start of expression at line 18.
    When I click on the error messages the lines
    public static void main (String argv[])
      { highlight for the "malformed expression" error, and "illegal start" for the
    public Console = new Console(); line. I tried public Console, private Console, Employee Console and just plain Console, the same error message remained.
    Here's the entire EmployeeDriver code:
    package Employee;
    * <p>Title: Employee</p>
    * <p>Description: Application allows an employee to enter a name, wage rate, hours worked and compute total pay.</p>
    * <p>Copyright: Copyright (c) 2002</p>
    * <p>Company: </p>
    * @author John Doe
    * @version 1.0
    public class EmployeeDriver {
    public class Console {
      public static void main(String argv[])
        public Console = new Console();
        Employee myEmployee = new Employee();
        String eN = Console.readString ("Enter Your Name");
        myEmployee.setName(eN);
        double payRate = Console.readDouble ("Enter Your Rate-of-Pay");
        myEmployee.setpayRate(payRate);
        double Hours = Console.readDouble ("Hours Worked");
        myEmployee.setHours(Hours);
             // Output the results.
        System.out.println("Your name is: " + myEmployee.getName());
        System.out.println ("Hourly Pay Rate: " + myEmployee.payRate());
        System.out.println ("Hours Worked: " + myEmployee.getHours());
        System.out.println (" ");   // Print a blank line
        System.out.println("Total Pay: " + myEmployee.totalPayThisWeek());
         System.out.println (" ");   // Print a blank line
        System.out.println("Please hit Enter to continue");

    The code that I left the last is "the one and only
    code for this project". So, it "is" the correct pasted
    code. Below is what I now have, and as fu*k*ing
    usual, filled with another batch of error messages.
    Get rid of one batch of damned error messages and have
    another batch show up.Hehe.
    * Method readString(java.lang.string)not found in
    class employee.EmployeeDriver.Console at line 20
    * Method readDouble(java.lang.string)not found in
    class employee.EmployeeDriver.Console at line 22
    * Method readDouble(java.lang.string)not found in
    class employee.EmployeeDriver.Console at line 24All three of these errors are the same ones I was just talking about. Ok, you already have a class written called Console (defined in Console.java). You also wrote your own class called Console. Look, this is your code (with some stuff removed):
        public class EmployeeDriver {
            public class Console
                public void main (String argv[])
        }See that line "public class Console"? You wrote that. For some reason, you are defining your own class named Console. It's an inner class of EmployeeDriver (because it is declared inside EmployeeDriver, hence all the errors having to do with "EmployeeDriver.Console"). Why are you doing that?
    So, you have your own class named Console (in EmployeeDriver.java, which I will refer to from now on as EmployeeDriver.Console to avoid confusion), and you have this class Console from Console.java. We can see by looking at Console.java that Console does, indeed, contain the methods readString and readDouble. So, you don't need to write them. Here's what is happening when you try to call one of them, say, Console.readDouble:
    1) You call Console.readDouble()
    2) The compiler looks for this method in EmployeeDriver.Console, not the Console in Console.java.
    3) Since that method is not in EmployeeDriver.Console, you get the error (even though it's in Console, because the compiler doesn't look in Console, it looks for it in EmployeeDriver.Console).
    You do not need to define your own class named console. Like I said before, try changing your code to something more like:
        public class EmployeeDriver {
            public static void main (String argv[]) {
                // This is your 'main' code... notice it's in
                // EmployeeDriver, not EmployeeDriver.Console.
                // Also notice that the "public class Console"
                // line no longer appears... this is because we
                // don't need to or want to define our own class
                // in EmployeeDriver named Console.
        }You solved the 'no static members in inner classes' error by making main not static any more. The method 'main' must be static. You need to forget about this EmployeeDriver.Console stuff. Don't declare your own class named 'Console'! You need to make 'main' a static member of EmployeeDriver and, I can't say it enough, you must get rid of that EmployeeDriver.Console inner class.
    Jason
    public class EmployeeDriver {
    public class Console
    public void main(String argv[])
    Employee myEmployee = new Employee();
    String name = Console.readString ("Enter Your Name
    ame ");
    myEmployee.setName(name);
    double payRate = Console.readDouble ("Enter Your
    our Rate-of-Pay ");
    myEmployee.setpayRate(payRate);
    double hours = Console.readDouble ("Hours Worked
    ked ");
    myEmployee.setHours(hours);
    // Output the results.
    System.out.println("Your name is: " +
    " + myEmployee.getName() + "name ");
    System.out.println ("Hourly Pay Rate: " +
    " + myEmployee.getpayRate() + "payRate ");
    System.out.println ("Hours Worked: " +
    " + myEmployee.getHours() + " hours ");
    System.out.println (" "); // Print a blank line
    System.out.println("Total Pay: " +
    " + myEmployee.getTotal() + "total ");
    System.out.println (" "); // Print a blank line
    System.out.println("Please hit Enter to continue
    nue ");

  • Time Machine in Snow Leopard much better but still problematic

    I've found Time Machine backups to a Time Capsule to be much faster under Snow Leopard than under previous versions of the OS, and I've found that TM seems to avoid some of the extra backups that always seemed to get scheduled:
    Jan 8 11:27:01 Musa [0x0-0x188188].backupd-helper[3527]: Not starting Time Machine backup after wake - less than 60 minutes since last backup completed.
    Jan 10 20:33:34 Musa com.apple.backupd-auto[14230]: Not starting scheduled Time Machine backup - less than 10 minutes since last backup completed.
    But the question is, why would Time Machine try to backup less than 60 or 10 minutes after the last backup in the first place?
    In addition, TM doesn't always avoid the extra, unnecessary backup:

    These were the first two backups that occurred after my MacBook Pro had been sleeping all night. Why does another backup happen so soon?

    I've found Time Machine backups to a Time Capsule to be much faster under Snow Leopard than under previous versions of the OS, and I've found that TM seems to avoid some of the extra backups that always seemed to get scheduled:

    When OSX wakes from sleep, Time Machine immediately checks to see if a backup is needed. Since one was done less than an hour before, it doesn't do another one. This message is just telling you why it didn't do a backup upon wake. (Under Leopard, it would do one automatically, which some folks complained about. So Apple changed it.)
    Jan 10 20:33:34 Musa com.apple.backupd-auto[14230]: Not starting scheduled Time Machine backup - less than 10 minutes since last backup completed.
    Most likely, you did a manual backup a few minutes before this. That does not re-set the schedule; but when the next scheduled backup time arrives, TM checks, and if less than 10 minutes has elapsed, resets the schedule and tells you why it didn't do the scheduled backup. Another thing foks complained about under Leopard that Apple changed.

  • Itunes update now avail but still didn't fix all issues

    I had a problem where Outlook would shutdown as it loaded up. Now that was fixed, now I can't synch. I get a "outlooksyncclient.exe" has failed Microsoft will shutdown the program. Anyone else getting this error?

    Also, if something is conflicting or blocking the "outlooksyncclient.exe", this article might help you narrow down what is causing this issue.

  • Lenovo T410 Wireless N pauses (g better but not perfect)

    I have a brand new T410 with intel wireless 6200 abgn, wireless N performance is poor when streaming video etc.
    I have done quite a lot of work and updated driver to latest 13.4.0.9 and also tried both winXP and Win7 pro 64 bit, both the same.
    Problem:
    When streaming wireless N @ 300mbs, even if 6 feet from the access point (Draytek 2820 bgn) after varying times, up to 2 minutes, wireless network traffic will pause for between 1 second to maybe 10 seconds or more then 'wake up' The signal always shows 300mbs connection, so not connectivity, performance monitor shows no lost packets and of course when video buffer runs out (5 sec) then video stops.  If the pause is not too long, the video stream will re-start., but not a great viewing experience as a result. Even if I cut the video stream rate to just 3mbit/s it stops stream for 5-10 seconds every 2-3 minutes, worse if I stream at full speed 8mbit/s.
    I also checked wireless performance with iperf to check max wireless data xfer speed connected at a steady 300mbit/s  wireless N, single TCP datastream stream, but xmit is  a steady 27.5mbit/s max over 30 seconds but receive 22mbit/s max can drop to zero, yes 0mbit/s  for up to 3 seconds in a 30second burst . the test from wireless  to a GbE wired PC on the router GbE port , If I checked the 6200 stats, it shows nothing either, all traffic is in one the '2x54 and 2x60mbit/s fast lanes', it is like the adapter is sleeping.  If I stream 2 data streams wireless N with iperf I get a sum transmit  rate of 45-47mbit/s (23+23) but the sum receive rate is stuck at 20-25mbit (13+13) , varies wildly and dops to zero/near zero at the same time on both streams.
    UDP performance in wireless N was not good either.
    Originally the pb was the same on wireless g as well also just 6 feet from the router, I got a new T410 wireless card under warranty and now wireless g is better, but still odd smaller drop offs in traffic of 1-2mbit/s,  but acceptable with max transmit speed of 20.5mbits/s and receive of 22mbits/s, I would be happy with that., Streaming video still pauses now and again as network traffic stops/pauses, but noy for long enough usually to affect video streaming. Throughput is very close to my T60 wireless g speed in fact, just not as steady... Wireless signal strengths seem comaparable as well.
    With the new wireless card the wireless N is a bit better, can run up to 2-3 minutes but it is still real bad even with the new mini pci wireless card.
    I have a belkin wireless bg AP and the draytek bgn AP, when in wireless g it is much better on both APs since the new card fitted, T410 connects up at solid 54mbit/s 54g , not so bad but still see some network pause but rare.  Wireless N is still bad, I tweaked draytek wireless N settings, greenfield mode, 20 and 40mbs channel, no turbo, max power, no nearby wireless, tried no encryption, other AP turned of, wireless N only mode,,,cannot get it working. Tweaked T410 6200 settings, max power etc, co change.
    Just to be sure, streaming over the GbE adapter is perfect and iperf gave max speed of >300mbits/s both ways, constant, so I guess the OS winXP and win7 side of things is ok.
    If I compare the performance of the new T410 with my outgoing T60 3495abg wireless winXP SP3, T60 wins hands down, perfect streaming, solid , no speed pauses all round the house the last 4 years.
    Just to rule out my draytek 2820 wireless bgn router, I  did similar test on wireless N only to a 9 year old IBM T23 thinkpad with a Netgear Draft N pcmcia adapter, it performed better than the T410 with iperf and streaming the same video over wireless N, no stops and stutters, constant net traffic of 3mbit/s  and connected at draytek AP at 270mbit/s WPA2..
    I am stumped, I am just pretty sure it is a wireless N only receive pb. Is there any chance it could be an aerial pb, if so I guess I will send it away for repair to fix that under warranty.
    Anybody out there with any ideas ?
    Many thx

    I've been having a problem that matches your description too.  Wireless-N connection drops whenever significant load is put on it.  I've got a Dell Studio 15 Laptop with an Intel 5300 wireless and Win 7 x64 connecting to a Draytek Vigor2820vn.  The laptop doesn't have the problem connected to any other networks.  The problem also goes away if I set the draytek to only operate in Wireless-G mode (well, it becomes so rare as to become irrelevant, 15+ mins between pauses instead of <2mins).  I sent the router back to Draytek who replaced the internal wireless card.  I've tried just about every firmware and setting I can find.  I've also replaced the wireless card with an Intel 6300 card, and tried many different driver versions.  No joy with anything.  I've had many false starts, as the problem is just unpredictable enough to be difficult to test in reasonable time.  I haven't experienced drops when the network has no security, but operating with no security is useless!
    If you manage to get to the bottom of the problem I'd be really interested.  I'm currently considering opening the Draytek up and inspecting the wireless card in it myself.  I've also wondered if it is possible to replace it, but I don't know how that would work with the draytek firmware.  I believe the wireless card in the router is an "AirCruiser N300" card (based on this image - http://www.thg.ru/network/draytek_vigor_2820vn/draytek_vigor_2820vn_screenshots_7_1.html)
    I've been documenting my attempts to solve this issue at http://www.jonsguides.com/2010/09/unsolved-strange-wireless-video.html
    Thanks in advance for any ideas anyone has
    -edit-
    I've got Windows 7 updated to SP1 which made no difference, and I've installed the system administrator version of Intel Proset and used the Intel utility instead of the Windows one to manage wireless networks.  No joy with those either.  The most likely culprit seems to be the router / the wireless card in the router

    Well, for FCP to see this file structure and recognize it, you need to download the Canon XF Log and Transfer plugin...

    >I don't have the original clips on the card.
    Meaning that they didn't back up the full card structure?  Lordy...very few shooters do this and it is maddening.  If you don't have the full card structure, even with the plugin, FCP cannot log and transfer.
    As for ClipWrap2...that should work.  Do you have the right files?

    What exactly does "not recognise" mean, Kathy?
    You're on Mac (thanks for providing that detail): are you getting a "could not be read" message? If you are, it's a write permissions issue with the destination. Change the permission, and all should be well.

    My first thought was that maybe when you imported you chose to leave the files  in place rather than copy then to the iMovie library..but I can't see where that option is now.

  • Updated to latest ACR 6.6 but still can't open CR2 files from Canon Rebel XSi

    I updated to latest version of Adobe Camera Raw 6.6 but still can't seem to open my CR2 files in Photoshop. Can't open them in Lightroom either, no preview in Bridge or OS.
    I'm running OS 10.7.2 and Photshop 12.1 x 64 which is CS5.1 I suppose.
    I've downloaded Canon's EOS utility hoping that would somehow do something as well but nothing.
    The images were shot on Canon Rebel XSi which is certainly supported by the newest version of ACR. So I have no clue as to what's happening... I previously downloaded these images onto my old laptop about a year ago and everything was fine, however now I'm not even getting a preview in OS. Do I have to revert to an older version of ACR (perhaps the same one I used originally?) to open these files again? These files have been stored on a hard drive, so I'm not downloading them directly from the camera-again, this probably has nothing to do with it but not sure what to do. A lot of the posts I've seen recommend downloading the latest version of ACR to fix the issue, but again I've done that and as a matter of fact the camera (Rebel XSi) has been supported for some time now...
    In OS, when the image is selected no preview:

    Something appears to be wrong with your files.
    Are most of your images approx. 3.7 MB?
    This is very small for a 12 MP image.
    If you go back to the original file on your laptop, what is the file size?
    Also the fact that the Mac OS is not showing the preview is unusual.
    Perhaps these files got corrupted when they were moved to your new computer.
    Can you open these files OK on your old laptop?
    Is the OS showing the previews on your old laptop?
    Also compare the file sizes between old and new computer.
    Have you tried repairing your permissions?
    Try Disk Utility in your Macs Applications - Utilities - Disk Utility to see if this helps.
    Good Luck!
