Canon 50D files twisted in CS5 ACR6.1

I installed 6.1 I noticed all my 50D files were twisted in the frame, 7D and 40D files are OK.
(windows 7 home premium)
I uninstalled CS5 & checked "delete preferences" after reinstall everything is back to normal with ACR6.0.
When reinstalling 6.1 its back to the twist. So I'm back again to 6.0 till I can get this sorted out.
BTW 6.1 works fine on my Vista laptop. The files are also OK in DPP & DXO
Heres a sample. Any ideas?

Here is a link to a RAW 50D file. It's onl
y raw that is affected. previously p
rocessed files (TIFF) are ok.
I just got an email from a friend also running Win 7 ACR6.1 & he has no problen but he uses Pentax.

i've just upgraded to os 10.8.4 and now i can't open canon raw files in photoshop cs5 with camera raw plug in 6.7 which worked perfectly prior to the upgrade....anyone else encountered this issue?

Adobe's software is a mess in terms of the fact that it's sprayed all over the place and may not survive an OS upgrade.  Try reinstalling Photoshop CS5.

  • CS6 fails to import Canon .mxf files. In CS5.5 it works always great.

On CS6.01 I can not import Canon mxf video footage. There is always import failure message window. Same result if I copied CF Card to Hard disc.
On CS5.5 it works always great. I have both premiere versions on same computer:

On CS5.5 it works always fine, no problem! Same result on my notebook, I installed both versions CS5.5 and CS6.01, on CS6.01 it never works.
    Any idea?

CS5.x is obsolete software and is no longer supported by Adobe ever since CS6 was released.  The last version of the Camera Raw plug-in to run with CS5.x was ACR 6.7.1. There will be no further updates for CS5.x.
You need to look for, download, install, launch and run the free, stand-alone Adobe DNG Converter 8.8 on each batch of raw files that cannot be opened in ACR 6.7.1.

  • Canon 50D RAW: LR2.1 RC1 vs. ACR 4.6

Will the RAW processing of a Canon 50D file be identical between LR2.1 RC1 and ACR 4.6?
I ask because I want to do apples-to-apples comparison of high-ISO images from the 40D and the 50D. I'd prefer to process the images in LR, but only if LR is just as good as the latest version of ACR in processing images from the 50D.

    >Will the RAW processing of a Canon 50D file be identical between LR2.1 RC1 and ACR 4.6?
No. It will be identical between LR 2.1 FINAL (not yet released) and ACR 4.6 FINAL (just released).

  • Canon 50D CS3 raw conversion noisier than DPP

The ACR CS3 raw conversion of Canon 50D files seems considerably noisier than conversion in Canon's own DPP converter. Is this correct, and are there plans to put it right?

ACR pretty much leaves the noise reduction up to you to configure the way you want it. The Canon software applies noise reduction automatically. I don't know if this noise issue has changed in later versions of ACR, but there won't be any more updates for your version. Have you downloaded the profiles that have been provided? Have you updated your ACR to version 4.6?

  • Canon 50D RAW files not showing

    Hi all,
I just got a Canon 50D as an addition to the current 400D (Rebel in the USA).
I am shooting 100% RAW files, and I am having a problem with previewing them.
I downloaded and installed the Camera RAW 5.2 fro Adobe and Lightroom and Photoshop have no problems opening the files.
The quick view show only a white (generic) icon, Preview a Question mark, while the RAWs from 400D show without a problem.
I can sort of live with it as I use Lightoom for all viewing and editing, but it is a bit annoying that a quick look with the Quick Look is impossible.
Anyone has /had this issue? Any solutions please?

OK, here's a boy who answers his own questions...
The Apple Camera RAW update 2.4 does NOT list 50D as a new supported camera model, and yet... what do you know... it does include support for Canon 50D.
    Done!
    Hope it helps someone.

As to the Adobe RAW, I thought that it also becomes a "system extension" (for the lack of a better wording) which COULD help, and which obviously doesn't. Thanks for the info.
In regards to the Apple Update, I just assumed that the latest would contain all previous updates, or if it did not, upon install inform that one needs the previous one installed first (Just like Java updates do) - which, again, obviously it doesn't. Again, thanks for the info and the link. I am downloading as I type this, so will see soon - after a restart, so an edit is coming...
Strange thing with the yesterday's RAWs working 100% and today's not at all.
Hopefully the 2.3 will do the trick.
    Stand by.
We have a problem, the 2.3 tells me that it DOES NOT NEED to be installed as a newer version is already installed. This would imply that previous updates are indeed included in 2.4 (just like the security updates - enough to install the latest one.
Well, that's a bit of a problem, innit?
Any way to manually pick the 2.4 off the system?

  • What do I need to process raw files in Photoshop CS5 for a Canon Rebel EOS t4i?

What do I need to process raw files in Photoshop CS5 for a Canon Rebel EOS t4i?

You would need ACR 7.x which is available in CS6.  Or as ertho said you can get the free DNG 7.3 converter and convert raw to a DNG.

  • Canon 50D RAW Files and PSE6

I've followed the instructions to add the latest Camera RAW files but still cannot get PSE6 Organizer to recognize the RAW files from my Canon 50D. The editor has no problem recognizing them and allowing edits to take place. Anyone have additional ideas to remedy this?

The issue happens either when downloading from a card or attempting to open the files from the card reader or a folder. I get the message "You are attempting to open a file that is an unrecognizable format or is corrupted." I got similar responses from the Canon software and Irfanview until they were updated with the latest rev that included the 50D.

  • Anyone editing Canon HF S20 files w/PP-CS5?

I'm just waiting to receive a Canon HF S20 camcorder that I ordered online and wonder if there are any folks here who have edited that camera's files using PPro CS5?
    Thanks,
    Russell

I think the link I provided describes the setting I am using right now... which I **think** is 60i (my night to cook dinner, and timer just buzzed)
I would shoot at HD instead of SD... my experience shows WONDERFUL quality when I tell PPro to export as DV AVI Widescreen and I then import that into Encore for DVD authoring

  • I have Lightroom 5 downloaded from the creative cloud. Lens profiles are not working for raw files. Canon 50D with EFS 10-22, EF 100 f2.8L macro and other Canon lens. None showing in lens profiles

When I first downloaded Lightroom 5 from the Creative Cloud lens profiles were working OK
Now it does not seem to recognize my camera - Canon 50D and lens - various Canon EF and EFS - All were recognized previously

I don't use these features, since I don't have such a cam, but could it be that you may need to input settings for filmback and distance of the lens mount somewhere? If the program operated based on wrong assumprions, the best profile in the world would be wrong...

  • Adobe Bridge Corrupts Canon CR2 files

Viewing Canon CR2 RAW files from a Canon EOS 7D or Canon EOS 40D camera will corrupt some images. After Adobe Bridge creates a
thumbnail of the CR2 files, some images previews will show the file with corruption (large white square or discolored areas). The CR2 file then
becomes corrupt. The file is not corrupt prior to viewing in bridge, but it becomes corrupt after viewing in bridge. The file is corrupt because it can
no longer be processed with any other RAW conversion program including ACR, DPP, or BreezeBrowser. If the file is marked as read only before viewing in bridge, the image preview shows corrupt in Bridge but the file remains intact and can be processed with Canon's DPP software. This issue first occured with CS4 and the ACR 5.5 update. The problem seemed to be less prevalent with the ACR 5.7 update. However after upgrading to CS5 this problem is back and worse than ever.
When doing a detailed file compare between a corrupted version of a CR2 file and  a copy of the same file before the corruption occurs it appears as if metadata has been written to the wrong part of the file (middle) instead of the beginning (header).
    Operating System: Windows 7

I am trying to fix this problem as well.
    In my case, I've got Windows 7 (32-bit), CS5, and a Canon 50D.
I've got photos that I can view perfectly in Canon's Digital Photo Professional, but the SAME photo in the SAME directory opens corrupted in Bridge.
    Here's an interesting wrinkle:
    Scenarios:
(fyi - all my CR2 images are pulled off the CF card using Bridge's loader)
CR2 Image opened in Canon's Digital Photo Professional:  Opens Fine.
CR2 Image opened in Photoshop directly (skipping Bridge):  Opens Fine.  (opens in Camera Raw first, of course, but still Fine)
CR2 Image 'browsed to' in Bridge:  Corrupted pinky/yellow/white.
CR2 Image double-clicked in Bridge, opens in Camera Raw:  Corrupted pinky/yellow/white.
    Bridge closed.
CR2 image opened in Photoshop directly again.  Pay attention... opens 1st in Camera Raw: Corrupted, but for only five seconds! It refreshes on its own and now is Fine!  Click Open Image into Photoshop and it Opens Fine again.
It's clear to me Bridge/Adobe something is corrupting these images.
It seems sometimes that the corruption becomes permanent, and even Canon's Digital Photo Professional shows a corrupted image.  In the scenarios and order mentioned above, the CR2 file remains openable fine in Digital Photo Professional.  So, why other images I have cannot open well in Digital Photo Professional, I do not know -- perhaps the order I clicked things caused Bridge to update the CR2 file?
I'm in the process of updating all CS5 software to the latest, in case I'm missing some updates.  If anything improves as a result, I'll update here.

  • Lightroom 1.4 & Camera Raw 1.4.1 & Canon 50D raw images

I am about to test a Canon 50D in conjunction with a Canon 20D.
Will I be able to work with the 50D raw files with my version of lightroom?
I have not moved to Version 2 lightromm because of the many reports about it's slugish performance.
    Your help would be appreciated.
    Roy Palmer

All you have to do is make sure that you are always using the very latest version of the DNG converter. Yes, the very latest. It is not necessary to match the DNG version with the ACR/Lightroom version.
When I use the DNG converter, I usually open the card in Windows Explorer, highlight all of the images, then drag them onto the icon for the DNG converter. The converter starts, I specify where I want the files to be placed, and then click on the Convert button. That's really all there is to it. Yes, it takes a few seconds for the DNG converter to convert the images. But it's really as simple as a download.

  • Support for Canon 50D in Lightroom 1.4

I have a new Canon 50D and I am wondering if there is any way to view photos from it in Lightroom 1.4 without having to just upgrade to Lightroom 2.o thanks

It seems to me that some people are afraid to try the DNG route because they are afraid to "convert" their raw images. Technically speaking, it isn't a conversion at all. Rather, the DNG converter creates a new DNG file in addition to be original raw image. So you can try converting to DNG and see for yourself what you think of the results. If you don't like what you see, you haven't lost anything, and you still have your original files. My experience has been that I can get identical results from the DNG files. So I don't see any disadvantage at all in converting. Some people complain that it adds an extra step to their workflow. You have to download the images from the camera anyway. Just download them using the DNG converter.
Anyway, there really is no risk to trying DNG. Give it a try and see what you think.

  • Aperture and sRAW (Canon 50D)

Does anyone know of a reason why Aperture seems to not fully support the sRAW format? My personal experience has shown me that bringing an sRAW (7.1 mp) file from my Canon 50D into Aperture will result in a much noisier image. Several of the RAW Fine Tuning adjustments are also grayed out (sharpening, denoise, etc). When I bring in a full RAW (15mp) file, Aperture automatically brings the noise level down a reasonable amount once the preview is rendered.
Here is a comparison; both images were shot at the same settings, one at sRAW and one at RAW, and I did not perform any adjustments in Aperture, just imported and exported a full JPEG.
    sRAW
    RAW

Sorry, I wasn't thinking straight, I was thinking the forum would shrink them but I don't know why I thought that would help.
    @Keith
I haven't tried DPP yet, but importing the same sRAW files into The Lightroom 4 beta produces much better results. I can see a slight difference between the RAW and sRAW processing in Lightoom, but they are 99% similar, whereas I would say in Aperture the difference is dramatic.
I have learned to stay in RAW, but I would appreciate the ability to shoot sRAW. I was hoping for perhaps a camera profile or other solution, but I suppose I'll have to stick with RAW or look into Lightroom
    Thanks for the help
