Canon 5d MK2 Errors then Tethering

Hey,
I recently installed Aperture as I am a Photographer, I love to tether shoot, however plugging my Canon EOS 5d MKII into my Macbook Pro, And try to take a photo its says Busy on the Camera then Error 70...
Anyone know if I can use my Camera with Aperture or know a fix?
Dan

Sure thing. First have EOS utility (or your camera's equivalent software) set up to download the images as you shoot to a folder of your choice.
Open Aperture.
Now, open Automator. I know, I know, but trust me, it's really simple to set this up:
1. From the drop down window that first appears, choose "Folder Action."
2. On left side from the Library select "Photos." From the list of actions that show up, find "Import Photos." Drag and drop "Import Photos" in the main action area to the right.
3. Now the simple part. Simply select the project you want to import your photos to, or designate a new one. If you want your images referenced, select that option. If you have them managed, and want them deleted after import, select that option (I don't recommend this, delete them yourself later after they've been vaulted.)
4. Save your Folder Action by pressing CMD-S and call it whatever you'd like.
That's it! Now whenever a photo appears in that folder (either by being dropped their from the camera when you take a shot or even if you simply drop one there from the finder), it will immediately import to the project you selected.
You don't even have to keep your camera software in front. You can keep Aperture in front as your main application. Click the shutter on your camera, and moments later you'll see the photo in Aperture. Simple and efficient. And, unlike with the built in tether feature in Aperture, you'll have full control over your camera including live previews.
Hope that helps.

my MP560 canon printer says: error has occurred, B200. Unplug power cord and contact canon

    Hi hthpggy,
To try and resolve the issue, please remove the power cord from the back of the printer and leave it out for at least 10 minutes, then plug it back in and turn it back on.  If the error persists, the printer will require servicing to resolve the issue.
Please drop us a line by clicking on the Contact Us link to start the process!

  • Canon 5D Mk2 arrived, but Aperture 2 says 'unsupported file'

I'm really delighted with my Canon 5D Mk2, but less so that Aperture 2 doesn't recognise my RAW files.Yikes!
As a working photographer, how can I work round this, and how long will it be until I see an update to allow me to use this camera?
Will Aperture automatically see the update when it comes, because I can't find a 'Check for Updates' button.
    Thanks in advance.

When you use the DNG conversion, you are essentially turning your RAW file into a TIFF on steroids. Aperture recognizes the image file as such and only makes available the settings/adjustments that are available for TIFF/PSD images.
This is a very bastardized explanation: Basically, the DNG has a higher bit depth than traditionally the TIFF/PSD has as well as the fact that has a lossless compression. The Adobe DNG converter takes a RAW file, and converts it to a high class TIFF with special privileges so to speak.
You are right, there is an extra step added to workflow when converting to Adobe DNG but it is rather painless I think. Yes, it does take some extra time but, you are able to use files from a camera that isn't yet supported natively. A pretty good trade off I think.
[Note: I rarely upgrade my camera systems until Aperture supports them natively given I depend on Aperture for my workflow. My feeling, even if the new camera is really rad, it isn't going to be useful if I can't continue with the post processing, thus making a living.] If I'm forced to use the DNG converter I will download all the unsupported Aperture files to a folder, make a backup copy of the originals, then run the unsupported Aperture files through the DNG supporter and go to lunch or go to bed. When I get back, I simply import the DNG files into Aperture and I'm good to go.
    Hope this helps.

  • I need a RAW convertor for my Canon 7D Mk2

does anyone know if the raw convertor on elements 13 is ok for a Canon 7D mk2?

PSE13 ships with ACR 8.6 so you would need to update it to at least ACR 8.7 using Help / Updates in the PSE Editor, then it’ll open D750 raw files.

Starting in 2015 I get the following error when I try to import my photos. "The following files were not imported because they could not be read"  -DSC8416.NEF  I've been importing the same type of photos with no errors then 2015 came along and now I can no longer import.

The error message is misleading, the problem is that you need WRITE privileges added to the destination directory tree.
Assuming you are using the "date" structure that LR defaults to, find the directory that contains the 2014 folder (the one that works) and add WRITE rights to the parent of "2014".
While you are there, if you want, add "2015" folder to beside "2014" and add READ and WRITE rights to that new directory.

Alternatively, install & use RawTherapee instead to develop your raw files instead (free and open source).

  • Have  Canon 7d MK2 and Photoshop Elements 12 and I cannot open my RAW FILES

I have a CANON 7D MK2 and PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS 12 and I cant open my RAW files

The 7D Mark II requires ACR plug-in 8.7 which came out after PSE13 was the current version so you can upgrade or use the DNG Converter 8.7 or newer to create DNGs from the CR2s and those DNGs will work with the older ACR plug-in versions.

  • Will elements 13 raw converter work with Canon 7D MK2 raw files

My friend is about to purchase the new Canon 7D Mk2 DSLR camera. He currently only takes images in jpg format and edits images with the Canon software provided with his current Canon camera. I have encouraged him to purchase Elements 13 and to start taking images in raw and using the raw converter. Will the raw converter in elements 13 be compatible with the raw files of the new Canon 7D MK2, please?
The Canon 7D MK2 is a new model and I realise that Adobe may not yet have prepared a raw converter to work with images from this camera. However it may be that the raw converter for the new camera is the same as that used in  camera it replaces. Does anyone know please?
    Regards Dave S.

The 7d mkii is not yet supported but should be in the next camera raw update. It’s not yet featured on the ACR8.7 list of new cameras, but this is only release candidate software. The 7d mkii could easily feature in the final version. Keep an eye on Adobe Labs for further updates.

  • Problem downloading images from Canon 5D Mk2 to Elements 6.0

I recently aquired a Canon 5D mk2 and can't seem to download the images from the camera into Elements 6.0 like I could with my Canon 400 D.  Any ideas?  Trying to download RAW + JPEG files.

You want camera raw 5.6, which is the newest camera raw plugin that works with pse 6
Adobe - Photoshop Elements : For Windows : Camera Raw 5.6 update
    The Camera Raw.8bi goes in
    (32 bit windows 7)
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 6.0\Plug-Ins\File Formats
    (64 bit windows 7)
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 6.0\Plug-Ins\File Formats

  • Image Previews In Aperture 3 - Canon 5D MK2

The "previews" Aperture makes are exactly what the photo looks like in the camera and as I wanted/expected the photo to look like, but when the photo has time to "process", the image turns dull and bad looking. If I press "P" again, the photo does not return to the state it was. Sound confusing? Here is my import work flow.
As I import my images, I keep "P" selected so I can zip through my images, rate and delete. When finished, I press "P" and that's when the images change. See attached images of before and after. I always check my histogram on the camera between shots and most of my shots are well exposed, but when I import them into Aperture...the images are typically 1-2 stops darker.
I've been using Aperture since 1.0. This issue has been going on for quite some time, but my daughters birthday party this past weeked was the final straw.
I have a Canon 5D MK2 with the 24-105mm 4.0L IS lens and shoot in RAW.
    Please help,
    Gene

What William said  .  The parts of the Help page I sent you (the OP had posted onto another thread) that I wanted you to notice are this:
How Aperture Displays Images in the Viewer
When a version needs to be displayed in the Viewer, Aperture does the following:
Aperture draws the thumbnail image (a JPEG image that is 1280 pixels in the longest dimension).
Aperture draws the JPEG preview, if present.
Aperture decodes the master and applies any adjustments to it.
Once the last step is completed, the adjustment controls become available. Because the JPEG preview is created with all the adjustments for that version, it appears onscreen faster than the adjusted master would. The result is a sharp preview image that appears quickly in the Viewer.
    and this:
“Use embedded JPEG from camera when possible” checkbox: Select this checkbox to have Aperture use the JPEG thumbnail produced by the camera, if available.
For just-imported Images, Aperture uses the in-camera created JPEG until it makes its own.  This is almost certainly what you are seeing.  (You can change this at "Aperture➞Preferences➞Previews➞Post Import Processing".  I recommend selecting "Standard Previews".)
The histogram on your camera is derived from an in-camera created JPEG.  It is somewhat congruent to the histogram of the converted RAW image, but the key word there is "somewhat".  Additionally, it reflects any in-camera settings you have.  The RAW file is strictly sensor data -- it is the recorded exposure, with no adjustments.
Images from converted RAW files are frequently "dull" (manufacturers do all kinds of things to make their camera-baked JPEGs look "pleasing").  Aperture provides extensive and powerful tools for developing your Images.  When you record your exposures to RAW files, you should think of your camera as a data gathering tool.  The computer is your developer.  If you want the in-camera created JPEGs, there is no reason to record the sensor data to RAW files.
There may be an additional problem with Canon 5D MK2 files.  Search the forum to see if this has been reported.

Your phone was jailbroken. You can't get help here.
In VERY RARE circumstances, this may indicate a hardware failure.

You should also check out the new 24-105 STM lens. I'm guessing image quality will be better than the 28-135 which I found quite soft.
    http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/cameras/ef_lens_lineup/ef_24_105mm_f_3_5_5_6_is_stm
I hadn't heard about that one. What's its role, do you think? Sort of a modernization of the old 28-105mm /3.5-4.5? A 70D kit lens for someone starting to anticipate FF?
I'd guess it's more for the 6D videographer.  I wouldn't be surprised if Canon starts using this as a kit lens for the 6D or even 5d3.  A new line of "affordable" full frame.  With current gray market prices of the 24-105 f/4 this lens won't sell well - better build quality, constant aperture, and USM for practically the same cost.  So something has to change to make space for it.  Cutting off the source of the gray market - kitting with the 24-105 f/4, would be once place to start.

  • HT4623 on upgrading iPhone 4 to ios 6 using itunes it returned an unknown error then froze completely.  It has the iTunes and USB connector on the screen.  Reset is not working, I get the same frozen screen.

On upgrading iPhone 4 to ios 6 using iTunes, it returned an unknown error then froze completely with the iTunes icon and USB connector on the screen.  Reset didn't work.  iTunes doesn't recognize the devise anymore.

if your computer is not recognizing it, try using a different USB port or different usb cable. if that doesnt work you will need to uninstall and reinstall itunes.
