Canon 5D MKIII raw files

How do I read Canon 5D mk III images in PS CS4? I know the new ACR 7.6 upgrade doesn't apply to 4 so what's the work around?

Hmmm. I tried to ask this question and Adobe told me I could have it answered if I paid $49. or something. Definite slap in the face for a legitimate question of their software. PS just got a little less relevant to my life. Shameless greed on Adobe's part. I guess they don't need me or my $$

Apple should probably mention that prominently in their Aperture materials. I now have a CF card full of images I shot today that I can't edit in Aperture. Not sure what to do with them.

Yes, much. You can try downloading the free Adobe DNG converter and using that to make files that may work in your version of ACR, or you can use the canon software to convert the files, or you can upgrade to PSE 11.

Unable to open Canon 7D CR2 raw files in Photoshop CS6

Hi Folks,
I have been trying to open Canon 7D CR2 raw files in Photoshop CS6 (Extended) (Windows 8.1) but I'm always getting the error "Could not complete your request because the file format module cannot parse your file".
I installed the Camera Raw plugin ver 8.8.0.397 today. Did this initially by downloading and running the CameraRaw_8_8.zip available here Camera Raw plug-in installer. Still got the error.
Went and did the Check Updates in Photoshop and updated the Camera Raw (and other components) but STILL cannot open the CR2 files.
I can see the thumbnails in Bridge but when I double click to open them in Photoshop, same error.
Cannot seem to get past the "Could not complete your request..." error.
Any ideas?

Thanks for your replies and assistance so far, very much appreciated. Its a very frustrating problem... this should be one of those things that just work.
I have uploaded two sample pics taken with my canon 7d. If you get a chance, could you please try opening these images to see if they work on your machine.

I have tried opening them on both my office and home computer but neither of them work.
Hmmm... could it have anything to do with the lens (Canon Macro Lens EF 100mm1:2.8 USM)

Why can't I download Canon S100 CR2 RAW files into PSE 10?

I am using PSE 10 with a Canon S100 camera. I am successful in downloading all of my jpeg files and RAW CR2 files from my older Canon Rebel, but not with the Canon S100 CR2 Raw files.
When first downloading from the Canon S100 camera into PSE 10 and later doing them manually, I receive the following messages: Nothing imported...files are not supported file types or alread in catalog. File damaged or in a format that cannot be included in the Elements Organizer.
These problems files, by the way, were automatically added to my Window's My Pictures catalog and are perfectly fine.

Thank you for the info. It worked great, once I was
able to get around a second problem that prevented updating
from within the PSE 10 application (error U41M1C212). That
problem was solved by disabling the MS Virtual WiFi Miniport
Adapter (located in the Network and Sharing Center control
panel). It just goes to show me once again, how complex
computer apps are and how much we all have to rely on each
other to get anything to work properly (frustratingly
enough, since the companies we paid good money to for
their problematic software are not very helpful). Thanks
again.

Try opening a CR2 directly from a folder by right-clicking
and choosing open with Photoshop Elements editor, if that
dosent work, update the appliactaion (required for the
S100V)
In the Editor menu click Help >> Updates
Then install amera raw 6.7

For Cs 5, please use the latest version of Camera raw. Cannon 5D Mark III is supported on Camera raw 6.7. Update the software or download install the camera raw 6.7 from the Adobe Website.
Lightroom 4, please wait for the next update of camera raw for the support of Cannon 5D Mark III. You may try using the beta version of Camera raw 7.1 available on Adobe labs.

Opening Canon 6D .CR2 raw files with CS5 Extended

Can't open Canon EOS 6D raw files with CS5. What is the minimum I need to do to open Canon EOS 6D .CR2 raw files in Photoshop CS5 Extended version 12.1 x64, and Brige CS5 version 4.1.0.54, and Camera Raw version 6.7.0.339? I would rather not have to go through the hassle of first converting all files with the Adobe DNG - is there another option? Can I upgrade my Adobe software?

Does anyone know if Fireworks 8 supports Canon's .CR2 raw
files? I tried to open some .CR2 files in Fireworks 8 and it did
not recognize them...can I update or something so it will recognize

Corrupt/Non Viewable Canon Xs .CR2 Raw files

Hi All,
I am having issues with my importing/viewing my Canon Xs .CR2 Raw files. I import them into Aperture and they do not show up correctly. I get either a black or a green and magenta static with lines for an image. I am currently running both the latest Aperture Version (3.1.1) and Digital Camera RAW (3.5.0). I have been searching for three days and cannot find a solution to this problem. I have found a few other people having issues as well. Here are some snippets/links from/to these posts:

Canon EOS 6D raw file will not open in CS4 with Camera Raw version 5.7.0.213

That's to be expected. Adobe does not make a practice of adding new camera support to versions of Photoshop that are no longer selling.
But you're not out of luck. If your camera is newer than your version of Photoshop, you'll want to do one of two things:
1. Use the latest version of Adobe's free DNG converter to convert your raw files to the .DNG format, which can then be read by your older version of Photoshop.
-or-
2. Upgrade Photoshop to the latest version, which (assuming support for your camera has already been added) will be able to open the raw files directly.

You do not need to use that option. There are two other options. If the RAW file has never been process by ACR then ACR would use your defaults for the cameras used no ACR dialog UI will display. I will often use the Bridge to process groups of RAW image files that look like they have similar exposures looking at the thumbnails the bridge displays. ACR will open for the group of RAW files. I may also make other ACR setting for some in the group like crops or spot healing for dust that may be in some sykes because my sensor needed cleaning. When I'm done all I do is click on the DONE button in ACR so it will save out ACR setting for all the raw files in the group. No image files are saved. When I use the image processor script I never use the open first RAW option and the Automate Image Processor Pro plug-in script does not have that option open first RAW in ACR and use the setting set for all other RAW files..

Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 - Canon EOS5D Mkiii - RAW images

I have Photoshop Elements 9 and Premiere Elements 9 installed on my iMac, operating system Version 10.9.4. I have upgraded my Canon EOS 5d Mki to a Mkiii and downloaded Adobe's Plug-in 6.5 update but I am unable to open RAW images from the Mkiii in Elements. They do open in Canon's software.Adobe offer no telephone support for this. Any ideas please?

You need camera raw 6.7 & PSE10 for the 5d mkiii. Alternatively, download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your raw files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the files will open in all versions of PSE (keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)
