Canon 5dMII and Sony A900 support

New released cameras need ACR and Lightroom support for Canon 5dMII and Sony A900.

Jeff, CS4 shipping dates have not been announced (I'm on the list to be notified when CS4 will ship. There is no announcement... yet speculation of end of October shipping is from adobe saying they expect CS4 to ship in Fourth quarter 2008. no guarantee of that shipping date, until it's announced. In Fourth quarter 2008 could be end of December, we have to wait and see) As for 5DMII the shipping date is rumored at end of November 2008, but not announced, and that date seems to be headed toward mid-December or January.....I do agree that LR2.1 and ACR4.6 will likely be released by Fourth quarter, pending no major bugs are found in either program.
I expect adobe gets cameras for testing and profiling when reviewers received the camera. So, yes, If production cameras are available to a select few I expect adobe, to have the camera and, to be building support for the camera including that support once they complete their profiling; regardless of the camera shipping date.
LJ the unofficial support for the A900 is due to ACR using the A700 raw profile to work with the A900 RAW files. This is not the same as supporting the camera. Yes, it allows A900 owners to work in RAW, but not with the correct profile.

  • Bug Fix ACR 4.6 RC and Sony A900 Metadata

I just shot some files with a Sony A900. Though I see that there is only preliminary support for the Sony A900 in ACR 4.6_RC and LR 2.1_RC, I thought I'd give it a try.
Both programs will build previews and adjust settings, however Metadata cannot be written, added, appended or synced in Sony A900 .AWR files in Bridge.
It is however possible to write or sync the metadata in the exact same .AWR files in LR 2.1_RC
    So one point for Hogarty...

    Thomas,
Thank you for the quick reply.
When selecting a Sony A900 .AWR, this is what I have:
    File>Open With>Adobe CS3(default)
I have the same set-up for Canon .CR2
    ACR 4.6 is installed here:
    Library>Application Support>Adobe>Plug-Ins>CS3>File Formats>Camera Raw.plugin
One more thing, after saving the develop settings and metadata that I applied in LR2.1 then went back to Bridge and the previews update with the color adjustments and ratings from LR2.1 just as they should and if I select metadata view, the metadata also appears.
However if I go to the File tab, "File Info" is grayed out and cannot be selected. The same thing happens in the Tools tab, "Append Metadata" and "Replace Metadata" are grayed out.

  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 - RAW and Sony A55 Support?

    Hi.
I am about to buy the Sony A55 DSLT Camera and would love to know if it is compatible with Elements 9.
    Thank you Scott.

    Hi Scott
I think you must mean the A550 DSLR.
Yes it is supported in PSE9, but after installing Elements you will need to update the software.
It’s a quick fix - you simply open the Elements Editor Application and on the top menu click Window >Updates. You are then ready to go.

  • Sony A900 cRAW cardreader import oddness

I am trying to get to the bottom of what is going wrong with importing directly from a USB 2 card reader with Sony A900 cRAW files.
If I copy the cRAW files to a folder on the Desktop using the Finder, then I can import the files into Aperture easily.
However if I try to import from the cardreader directly then I have problems.
Today I found that the problem appears to be related to what information that Aperture is able to see about the files on the card when in the reader.
The first thing that is noticed is that the preview thumbnails of the files on the card when in the reader are much lower resolution than those that have been copied via the finder to the hard drive first.
Also, the files on the card in the reader do do show their File Date, nor correct Dimensions (shown as 0 x 0)
As a consequence of this, strange things happen when trying to import and change the version name (does not import) or put the files into a subfolder based on the date of the file (goes into wrong folder for 2001/01 rather than current Year/month for example)
This is all with Aperture 2.1.2 and Camera RAW 2.3 which I need for the Sony A900 support.

The log shows this, if it helps.

  • Lack of support for Canon G7 and G9. Alternatives?

I am really disappointed about the lack of support for the Canon G9, and looking at the list of compatible cameras (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306835) I notice that Canon G7 - even if it does not have a RAW format, is not supported either.
I am thinking that the purchase of the G9 may have been premature and that I may need to sell it and get another cam that is supported by Apple/Aperture.
What would you guys do? Is there a cam out there similar to the G9 at the moment that has a Apple-supported RAW format?
    Best regards,
    Kjell Are Refsvik

I think the camera closest to the G9 that has RAW support from Apple are the Panasonic DMC-LX2/Leica D-Lux 3 twins. Don't know where you are, but in the US, the Panasonic costs about $400. 10MP, 28-112mm (35mm equivalent) Leica lens, very compact body, and RAW output. The Leica costs $599, and has that classic look.
I don't know much about that cameras, but you may want to investigate.

You'll need to update to at least ACR 8.2 for the 70D to be recognized.  The normal way to update PSE12 to the latest CR is to use Help / Updates in the Editor which should update to ACR 8.5.
According to Adobe's website PSE12 shipped with ACR 8.1 and you say it says yours is reported as ACR 8.0.
Are you using PSE 11 and not 12?  PSE 11's maximum ACR version is 8.0.

  • Camera Raw CC and CS6 and Lightroom 5 Support for Canon SX60 Canon 7D Mark II

I have just bought my wife Canon SX60 and loaded pictures into Bridge and saw that Camera Raw does not recognize Canon SX60 CR2s. I checked the supported cameras and saw SX60 is not in the list. I will be purchasing a Canon 7D Mark II on Tuesday and see that it is also not supported. I saw in a forum post that the 7D is not in the current Camera 8.7 but will be part of the Camera Raw 8.7 "production release". I currently have Photoshop CC, Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom 5 will both cameras be supported in the next "production version" of Camera Raw and Lightroom 5 and when is it scheduled for release (I saw some thoughts that it would be by the end of year but was hopefully we can get a more definitive date).
    Thanks

It has been indicated that both of those cameras will be supported in the final release of Camera Raw 8.7. But there is no announced release date. There never is. I assume it will be before December 31. But that is only my guess based on the fact that the release candidate expires then.

  • Canon s95 and g12 RAW file support???

Adobe has now updated Lightroom to include support for cr2 RAW files for the Canon S95 and G12.
An guesses how much longer for Apple to get its act together?

It's only a "release candidate" not a proper final release. Consider it an advanced beta. Adobe explain "release candidate" here:
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/cameraraw6-3/
An guesses how much longer for Apple to get its act together?
Aye - no doubt the entire Aperture team is sitting back, playing games on their iPads, drinking coffee and generally skiving...
I know this is not the answer you want, but the simple answer is - patience. It will be here when it's here - that's the way it is.

  • Canon 60D and Aperture/iPhoto - RAW support?

I realize this camera isn't supported yet, so my question is really how long does it typically take Apple to begin supporting new RAW files after a camera's release? It's been about two months for this one :/ Month? Two months? Three months? Is a pattern documented anywhere?
Photoshop has supported the 60D for about a month now. That's frustrating.

I would be interested in seeing anything history of release dates and RAW file support dates also. I am a newbie with only a S95 but also interested in when Apple will release RAW support for my camera [it came out approximately the same time as the 60D]. I have been advised to be patient...it will happen. My issue is that I download a 30 day trial of Aperture before I realized at the moment I can only try it out on jpegs, not RAW. I just hope it happens before my 30 trial runs out.
I did put in a request through the Aperture comment function but was advised it was probably unnecessary since Apple is well aware of new Canon and Nikon cameras.

  • I have a Canon 6D and the new Panasonic GH4 both are not in the list of supported cameras! What can I do?

I have a Canon 6D and the new Panasonic GH4 both are not in the supported list of cameras in Finalcut Pro 10 ! What can I do???

Plenty of cameras don't make the list for various reasons but work fine,
If you have the cameras but not the application, downliad the trial version and see how it goes.
If you have both the cameras and the app already, do some test projects to see.

  • I have a Canon 20D and the ipad camera attachment, but screen says it does not support... what can I do?

I have a Canon 20D and wish to download to my ipad when traveling- I have the camera attachment, but when I connect it- I get a message saying it does not support the device. Is there anything I can do?

    Kelli-
Another solution would be to find a Compact Flash-to-USB card adapter that is compatible with the USB adapter in the Camera Connection Kit.  Some such adapters draw too much current from the iPad.
You can also get a Secure Digital-to-Compact Flash adapter that would allow you to use SD cards in your camera.

  • Does Premiere E support video shot with Canon 5D or Sony XDCAM EX?

Does anyone know if I can edit video shot with Canon 5D or Sony XDCAM EX? I did some research but can't find the answer!

Which version of PrE are you looking into? PrE 10 has DSLR Presets that cover the Canon 5D. Not sure about the XDCAM EX, but this ARTICLE covers the supported formats. I know that PrPro CS 5.5 offers full, native support for XDCAM footage, but do not see it in the PrE list.
    Good luck,

  • Sony DSC-H5 and T-50 support

I didn't find in the list of supported cameras the Sony DSC-H5 and Sony DSC-T50.
Do you know if these cameras are supported even if not listed?

  • Lens profile for Sony A900 carl zeiss vario sonnar 24 - 70 zoom?

Is there a lens profile for the Sony A900 Carl Zeiss vario sonnar 24 - 70 zoom lens in Photoshop CS5 camera RAW? I have the latest update, the Sony is an old camera now and the CZ zoom is similarly old, beautiful thing to use but doesnt seem to be supported in camera RAW profiles or lens correction filter in CS5. I'm about to use RAW to process around 10 sets of 5 exposures to create files for HDR and want to syncronise the correction to each group of images before I begin to process them, after HDR process I intend to create a pano out of them so its imporrtant to get the lens correction done right at the start and applied identically to each image. Thing is that if I look in the Sony profile theres only a few lenses but no Carl Zeiss, if I look in Carl Zeiss it doesnt list the Sonnar 24 - 70.
    Any solutions?

It appears  a lens profile is available for this lens using the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader. The profile does not have to be created with your camera model, just a model with the same crop factor or smaller camera sensor. This one is for a 1.5 crop factor APS-C sensor size.
The 24-70mm is available as well for a 1.0 Crop camera, which will also work with a 1.5 crop body.

  • How to open Raw files from Canon 1100D and 650D in CS5?

I need assistance please. I have a Canon 1100D and 650D. On Photoshop CS5 it does not recognise the 2 Cameras Raw files. What is my course of action. Help will be highly appreciated

evjems, As per the below article, Canon EOS 1100D needs minimum Adobe Camera Raw(ACR) version 6.4 and Canon EOS 650D needs minimum ACR version 7.1
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
So, you should be able to open raw files of 1100D, if you upgrade your PS ( Help > Updates), but not of 650D as it needs PS CS6 and above.
Let me know in case you still have any doubts.
    Hope that Helps!
