Canon 6D Raw to CS2 Camera Raw

Is there an update for Photoshop CS2 that will allow me to download Raw files from my Canon 6D directly into PS Camera Raw?
Thanks!

The raw format of the 6D was first supported in PS-CS6 with ACR 7.3.

  • PSE11: How to import Raw files from Canon Powershot SX60 HS Bridge Camera? [was: Dear Sir,]

I have just purchased a Canon Powershot SX60 HS Bridge Camera. I have Photoshop Elements 11 and I cannot import Raw files. How do I download the latest version of Camera Raw into Elements 11?

Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
    With Elements 11 you cannot.
The SX60 HS was first supported in  Camera Raw 8.7 which is only compatible with Elements 13 and later.
    Options:
Pay to upgrade to Elements 13
Free option: download the Adobe DNG converter, convert all SX60 HS Raw files to DNG format then edit the DNGs in Elements 11

  • Adobe Lightroom 5.7 does not recognize Canon 60D raw files. I have Camera Raw plugin 8.7 installed. Is there solution?

Neither Bridge CS6 or Lightroom 5.7 can recognize Canon's raw file (Canon Camera 60D).
This only started a few months ago without any change that I made to the system
    Any clues?

Is this only when reading CR2 files on the camera memory card or also for CR2 files that were previously imported to your hard drive (i.e. ALL of your 60D CR2 files)?
LR 5.7.1 is only at Camera Raw 8.7. so OK. What Bridge, PS, and OS versions are installed? In Bridge go to Help> About Bridge
From inside Bridge launch any raw file and check the ACR version:
From inside PS go to Help> System Info and check PS and OS version:

  • Can't open canon g16 raw files.  I have updated to Adobe camera raw 8.2 and am working with PS CS6.

Here is my issue, I can't open the Raw files from my new Canon G16.  I have run all the Photoshop updates and even installed the Camera raw 8.2 update but still cannot open my raw files.  The will open in Canons digital photo professional program so I know they are not broken files.  I have even installed the DNG converter and they will not even open with that.  What am I doing wrong?  I bought this camera specifically for the ability to shoot in raw.  My canon 60d raw files work fine.

Why on Earth did you upgrade only to ACR 8.2 ?
The current version of ACR is ACR 8.4.  You should ALWAYS update to the latest version.  Once a camera model is supported, it will be supported in all subsequent releases of ACR.
Beside new camera support, each ACR update contains any number of unannounced, unheralded bug fixes, improvements and enhancements.
What is the exact version of your OS and of your Photoshop CS6? For instance, if you're on a Mac, you should be running Photoshop CS6 13.0.6.  I can't remember offhand what the latest version for CS6 is.
Did you install ACR correctly.  ACR 8.2 should work for your camera (but update ACR anyway).  What version shows up when yo go to About Plug-in… > Camera Raw.
You of course need to relaunch Photoshop, maybe even reboot your machine, and then Purge the Cache in Bridge.

  • I cant updated Camera Raw to accommodate my Canon 550D Raw images on CS4 - its saying "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document" HELP!!!

Ive tried downloading the latest version but then always brings up CS4 and says not the right kind of document...? ive tried going to Updstes in help and says all updated but I have version 5.0.0.178 of Camera Raw

Adobe Camera Raw did not support the Canon 550D until version 6.1 for Photoshop CS5.
The best way if you do not wish to upgrade is to download the 8.7 DNG converter and convert your Canon 550d raw files to dng so that Photoshop CS4 can open them in your version of Camera Raw.

  • Displayed white balance differs from camera value (Canon .CR2 raw)

I've noticed that Lightroom will often display a sequence or group of pictures with a very visibly different white balance between consecutive frames.
Looking at the EXIF info in a sample Canon .CR2 raw (EOS-350D), the recorded colour temperature is 5200K (camera set for AWB), but Lightroom reports this as 4950K after import. For the next frame (continuous shot), the EXIF colour temperature is again 5200K, but Lightroom reports 4900K.
This still happens in LR1.2 (on newly imported photos).
Why does Lightroom appear to make its own decision for white balance rather than use the recorded value?
    Thanks,
    Barrie

In any case, I'm worried about the discrepancy
between Aperture and Camera Raw on something so
    basic.
Sorry I can't help you directly with Aperture as I haven't bought it - yet. However, re-the above quote, I'd just mention that the interpretation of colour temperature values is not quite as simple as it might seem. Even more so when you bear in mind that RAW converters from 3rd parties like Adobe or Apple are not based on the RAW conversion engine produced by the camera manufacturer - in effect they have to guess/estimate what the temp/tint values in the RAW file actually mean...
Some time back I made a series of tests using 3 Canon cameras, with ACR, Capture One & the Canon RAW converter. Each produced noticeably different results, and C1 & ACR showed quite different temp/tint values. (The Canon software only showed 'As Shot' - no values). The differences were consistent between shots from each camera (using WB values input or AWB) - but they weren't consistent from one camera to another. Which program produced the best result depended very much on the Camera/Subject/Personal taste...
Hope someone can help with Aperture specific info, I'm sure there must be a way of making camera specific adjustments to the RAW conversions...

Thank you for the imput.  I don't know what you mean when you say LR doesn't use Adoble Camera Raw.  My LR2.7 is able to process raw files from my 20D.  I don't care if it does it with ACR or some other processing software.  The issue is whether whatever software is used by LR can be updated to deal with new camera raw files.  It is pretty annoying if it cannot be.  I would even pay a reasonable amount if that were necessary.
ACR is a plug-in for Photoshop and Photoshop Elements which enables users to work on raw images from supported cameras. All of that technology that is in that plug-in is part of the Lightroom program, the plug-in is not used by Lightroom. ACR must be updated approximately 4 times each year in order to add support for new cameras and to make other changes in the plug-in. In order to get those changes in Lightroom, it is necessary to upgrade the entire Lightroom program. Interim releases are made available to Lightroom users who have purchased the program. For instance, if you purchased Lightroom 2, then versions 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, etc. are all available to you at no cost. But when Lightroom 3.0 is released or 4.0 is released, then it is necessary for you to purchase an upgrade in order to continue to get the updates.

  • OSX 10.10 and Canon 7D Mark II and Camera Raw

Anyone having any luck opening camera raw files using Lightroom 5 or Photoshop CS6 from Canon's 7D Mark II camera? Digital Photo Professional software also not available. I tried downloading the Maverick version but it didn't work.
    Any suggestions?
Any news about when camera raw update will release for this camera?

Jim, I understand that when people jump on new technology there are hiccups in the process. My reason for asking questions on this "community" forum was to hopefully find someone that might have some information about how to make RAW images work with this new Canon camera and new OS from Apple, etc. Others are publishing raw images and know how to access the updated software or have work arounds. That's all I'm looking for!
You, on ther other hand, seem annoyed by my questions and have no problem putting me in my place on this "help" forum. It would be nice if I knew as much as you but then that's why dummies like me ask questions from experts like you. Be patient and just ignore dumb questions! Please pocket your sacarsm. I'm old and I'm stupid. I'm just loking for some advise.

  • Canon G10 RAW in CS2?

I use CS2 successfully with my Canon 5DMk1 RAW images, but even though it appears to be fully updated it won't read RAW from my G10.  Is there a plug in for the G10, or do I have to upgrade to a later version of CS?  Must I go to CS4, or will CS3 work?

You need the latest version of the DNG Converter, available here:

  • Can't open Canon 70D raw files with elements 12

Can anyone advise me why elements 12 will not open my Canon 70D raw files?  When I have tried to update elements it tells me that there are no updates available. The Adobe Photoshop Camera Raw plugin is version 8.0.0.137

The Canon 70D was first supported in Camera Raw 8.2.

Camera Raw 8.5 should be available for Elements 12 via Help > Updates
Photoshop elements 12 and camera raw 8.5
If you have windows XP, Vista or Mac OS X 10.6.8 you won't get the camera raw 8.5 update, because it doesn't work on those operating systems.
In that case you should be able to update to Camera Raw 8.3

  • Problem opening Canon 6D RAW even after upgrade today to PS CS6, WinXP-SP3

Givens: PS CS5>CS6 upgrade via $199USD download today, Non-CC upgrade. OS: WinXP SP3, camera: Canon 6D RAW (.CR2 files) and prefer to work on RAWs via Bridge.
Main goal: view Canon 6D files in Bridge, do adjustments, open via ACR into PS CS6 for further work.
My fav workflow for photos is: Bridge>ACR>PS. Just got a Canon 6D camera. So I updated to PS CS6 today and I did go through PS CS6 menu: help>update mechanism for all available updates, which was one round of ACR (and Bridge) updates, no more were offered. That brought ACR from v7.0.0.308 to v7.1.0.354--still could not see Canon 6D RAW files.  I went to Adobe.com and did manual download for ACR/DNG 7_3 but it did not enable Bridge to see my new camera files nor could I open the 6D .CR2 files in PS. Got PS error message about not recognizing filetype, update ACR, etc (which of course I just attempted). (Seems as through PS and Bridge did not know the ACR/DNG 7.3 "existed" IF that is a capability).
Then I tried to install ACR 8.7 from the "Fix your 6D RAW problems page" and got error messages in PS CS6 (perhaps bc I am on 32-bit system). Decided to start from scratch; uninstalled PS CS6 upgrade.
Secondary issue is: Now I have uninstalled PS CS6 and done System Restore to the point just after I downloaded PS CS6 upgrade. I want to reinstall but the installer fails. Support chat told me to download PS CS6 Upgrade again (doing that now), then reinstall.
Solve: Main problem: Be able to work on Canon 6D RAW through Bridge and ACR (prefer NOT to workaround with DNG if possible) At time of writing, as mentioned, I am downloading PS CS6 upgrade again, then plan to reinstall. If that works, then I need steps to update ACR so that I can work on 6D RAWs through Bridge and ACR. Please know that going through Photoshop's Help>Update mechanism does NOT seem to work. Do I need manual updates? If so, please direct me to the correct ones and order of procedure to execute this upgrade successfully.
    Many thanks, Paul

Yammer, thanks for the info about Camera Raw 8.3--that is my goal to load PS CS6 Upgrade and update to Camera Raw 8.3  Currently, I am having problems installing PS CS6 upgrade after uninstall. I have used Adobe CC Cleaner several times. It seemed to help, and the installer proceeded further with next try. Then I looked and there was no PS CS6 icons. I have done system restore also several times and am about to try again. It seems that my original PS CS6 upgrade installed, but when I tried to load ACR update, problems arose. Is there a way to remove recent version Camera Raw remnants from my computer. There is no Photoshop CS6 folder and further none for the CameraRaw.8bi for PS CS6. One possible clue: Yesterday I did two upgrades: 1) PS CS4>CS5 via box, then 2) PS CS5.CS6 on-line download non-CC. In one round of update, I saw that PS CS*5* Extension Manager failed to update. Seems unrelated but mentioned here for thoroughness.
Running ACR 8.3 in XP SP3 would be most useful and timely today as I have work to do. Many thanks, Paul

  • Horrible Adobe Chat Experience - How to open Canon 6D Raw files in CS5?

Hi, I just had an awful Adobe Chat experience with agent Dharma. I waited a very long time and when Mr. Dharma finally was able to help me, he wasn't able to. I was told that my product would no longer be supported and I couldn't be helped by Adobe because it was CS5. I was also sent to a faulty link. Anyway, I recently purchased a Canon EOS 6D and when I tried uploading my photos to Photoshop CS5 it said my RAW photos could not be supported. I followed the appropriate links for support and help.
My CS5 is updated, the Adobe Bride is updated. The extension for the photos is CR2 and they will not show the thumbnails in bridge and won't load in Photoshop. I need help. Now, I am hoping Adobe will support it's product and customer.

As each new camera comes out, Adobe have to write the code that enables Camera RAW to work with its RAW files.  It is nrealistic to expect them to keep doing this for all previous versions of Photoshop.  The Canon 6D needs ACR7.3 which Photoshop CS6
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
    You have several alternatives.
As an owner of CS5 you can take up the BUndle deal at $10 a month.
You can download the free DNG conversion software, and convert your CR2 files to DNG which CS5 can read.
You can buy Lightroom 5, oir even Lightroom 4 (if you can still find a copy)
I'd go with the Bundle deal.  There is a lot more to CC than reading Canon 6D RAW files.

    Hi Zach.
Sorry to say but Elements 12 came out several months before your camera. Adobe stops updating camera raw files for old software editions so that people have to buy new versions of the software when they get a new camera. It happened to me with LR3 when I got a new camera.
There are works rounds but they are a lot of extra steps and I think you would be converting the files to Some format other than RAW (tiff?) and which I am not sure will perform the same.
I think you just need to get a newer version of Elements.
