Canon 6d wifi

canon 6d wifi connection to slow when paring to my android phone

I haven't read the 6D manual, so I could be totally wrong. But from what I've seen in this forum, it appears as though the camera can work in two modes: 1) as a wireless access point, in which case it establishes its own freestanding wi-fi network, to which your phone or computer connects, or 2) as a wi-fi client, in which case it tries to connect to available access points and your phone or commputer might as well be a lump of coal. Check your settings. It sounds to me as though you want the camera to be in the first mode, but the symptoms sound as though it's in the second.

  • Canon ip5200r wifi printing not working

I have an old ip5200r canon printer.
It's been a pain over the years - each time i update my operating system i have had to update the drivers and fiddle around to get it to connect to my mac via wifi. USB printing is fine and always works.
With 10.10 however I am totally stumped. I have managed to connect the printer to the network, and the printers and scanners system preferences can see the printer and it tells me it is installed, but I am unable to print.
My partner often uses the printer and constantly complains about walking around the house and plugging  a USB cable in. It should be so easy, I am unsure why canon make it so hard.
I was wondering if anyone could offer any possible insight or recommendation?

If you haven't done so already, try resetting the printing system.

You should contact Canon, the manufacturer of the printer, to see if the printer can setup an ad-hoc network that the other devices can connect to.

  • Canon MG6450 Wifi Problem on Windows 7 64bit

I have a Canon MG6450 which works fine via the USB.  When I try and use it with WIFI the printer is always offline.  The scanner works fine via Wifi.  The printer is connected to my WIFI router ok and I can ping it from the Windows 7 PC.  I have AVG but I have added rules to access my printer which I have given a fixed IP via my WIFI router.  Can anyone suggest what is wrong.
I have installed the latest website drivers.  I have also installed the drivers on a laptop running 32bit Windows 7 and this works fine.

    Hi HRHalderman,
I think I got the problem solved for myselfe, I just reverted from 2013 Broadcom 802.11n Notwork Adapter driver to 2011.08.18 driver. What I did was:
    > Go to Start, right clic on Compute and press Properties
    > On the left upper corner I pressed Device Manager
    > From there I navigated to Networ Adapters
    > Dubblecliced on Broadcom 802.11n Notwork Adapter
    > Now I cliced on the tab Driver
    > There I pressed Update driver
    > From there I selected option Brows my computer for driver softweare
    > Afterwards I selected option Let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer
    > Then I chose Broadcom 802.11n Notwork Adapter Version: 5.100.196.81 [2011.08.18]
After i did that, I didnt have to restart or anything - the internet started to work fine, and hase worked without a problem for the second day now, if it goes bad again, I will let you know.

  • Canon 70D, Wifi access point with Android

I bought a Canon 70D this week and I cannot get the Wifi access point option to work with my Nexus 7 2013 or my Samsung Galaxy S3. I was able to connect my 70D to my Wifi network and see the device that way. But when on the road you won't always have access to a local LAN. When I try the access point mode both devices never see the 70D.
I rebooted both Android devices after installing the EOS app.  I also get the camera in access point mode first and then launch the EOS app.  I let the app sit for several minutes and never finds the 70D.
    Any tips?

    Hi gquiring!
    Thanks for posting.
When you go through the setup process on the camera, are you selecting [Easy Connection] ot [Manual Connection]?  If using [Manual Connection], try using the [Easy Connection] instead.
When prompted by the camera to connect to it with your smartphone, do you see the SSID of the camera show up in the list of networks you can connect to on your smartphone?

  • System not seeing my Canon MG5422 Wifi printer all of a sudden.

My iMac installed the OS X 10.2.2 update on 30 Jan and I upgraded my Comcast cable modem on 3 Feb.  My Wifi works fine but all of a sudden I can't see my printer.  I tried to print something and got a "cannot communicate with the printer error".  So I removed the printer from System Preferences and now I can't get it back.  When I hit the "+" button to add a printer I get the add screen but there's nowhere to go from there...the system does not see the printer so won't add it automatically, I can search it but can't find it, and I cannot get to an input point to add a name.  So I cannot communicate to the printer.
The two things that have changed are the 10.2.2 update (which was supposed to fix some wifi issues) and the new cable modem, but like I said the wifi for internet (web and email) is working fine.  Has the Yosemite update caused similar issues with anyone?

  • Canon MP600R WiFi Network Scan/Print Failure

    Hi there
    My setup:
    * a Canon MP600R multifunctional printer/scanner
    * an Apple iMac running Snow Leopard
    * a Dell Laptop running Windows Vista, and
    * a Netgear WGT624v3 wireless router.
The printer and the two computers are all wirelessly connected to the router - there are no USB cables or wired LAN connections being used between these machines. All the machines have statically configured IP addresses (printer included).
I can print and scan reliably from/to the Windows laptop. Printing from the Mac used to work reliably, but scanning to/from the iMac only worked once in a blue moon.
To try to fix this, I updated the drivers on the Mac to the latest versions for Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard), and now I can't print or scan at all. The software I've been using is:
    From Canon Europe:
    * mp600rosxcp102620ea8-2.dmg - CUPS Printer Driver for OSX (10.26.2)
    * mp600rosxns10ea7-3.dmg - MP Drivers for Network (Snow Leopard) (1.00)
    * mp600rosxsd12131ej7.dmg - ScanGear CS for OS X (12.13.1)
    * mpnosx304ej7.dmg - MP Navigator- MP Navigator for Mac OS X (3.04)
    From Apple:
    * CanonPrinterDrivers2.3.dmg - Apple's Canon Printer Drivers (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL899)
    From Canon Australia:
    * ntosxm270ea8-2.dmg - IJ Network Tool Ver. 2.7.0
After many delete/reinstall steps on the Mac (following PAHU's advice!) and much Googling - including disabling/enabling firewall settings, IPv6 settings and even various router RIP settings - I could do with some help please!
What appears to be happening is that the Mac can't 'see' the printer, whereas the PC can - the drivers all seem to be installed in a similar way, and once set up (using the one-off USB connection step that the installers seem to like) they all have the right MAC address info. However the Mac Network Scan Utility shows a warning next to the printer's MAC address, whereas the PC is happy. Likewise, the PC's printer utilities can tell me about ink levels, the Mac's one gives me a communication error and puts the printer into paused mode.
This leads me to believe it was something going on on the network. I can, however, ping the printer from the Mac and access it's web configuration interface - so it's not that the printer's unreachable from the Mac.
To try to see what was going on in a bit more detail, I installed Wireshark and did some captures of the use of the Network Tool and Scan Utility.
On the PC (192.168.0.4), which works, it appears to direct the BJNP discovery commands direct to the printers IP address (192.168.0.2).
On the Mac (192.168.0.5), which fails, it appears to be broadcasting BJNP discovery messages to the subnet (192.168.0.255) and receiving ICMP Parameter problem responses from the printer.
So, is this likely to be:
    A. the Canon drivers on the Mac
    B. the Netgear router doing something to stop the broadcast discovery, or
    C. something in the printer firmware?
If so, any ideas how to workaround it - for example, can I 'force' the Mac version of the drivers to not do broadcast discovery and simply go direct to the IP address like the PC?
    Any help, pointers, gratefully received!

    Hi PAHU
Thank you very much for responding - particularly with such detailed and reasoned advice!
I have just tried deleting the BJPrinter folder, restarting and reinstalling only the Apple Canon Printer Drivers 2.3. On opening Print & Fax -> Add Printer I don't see anything in the window (no Bonjour Scanner or canonijnetwork) - I have left it open for more than 20 minutes now and still nothing.
Using wireshark, I can see the Canon BJNP Discover packets to both 8611 and 8612 (and some mdns and db-lsp-disc packets). I can see the printer responding with error responses too:

This pattern repeats every 8 seconds or so for the scanner and roughly every 25s for the printer port.
This extract (while typical of what's happening now) was actually taken from a lengthy capture I made yesterday which shows that, after quite a long period of time, it suddenly starting to work. This fits with my previous experience of seeing it 'coming and going' very intermittently (e.g. when leaving Add Printers open for an hour or more). When it started working it looked like this:

  • Canon mp600r wifi and airport express

I have 2 airport express. One is a routeur (because there are an imac and an ibook)and is connected to dsl on internet. The others airport express is used to enlarge the wi-fi access network in the house.
i want to use the second airport express for my wifi printer, but without the usb port (because i can't scan from the printer, and the imac can't see the scan;i juste can print form the imac).
And i want to scan from the printer or from the imac.
    what can i do?
    thank you

Agreed, my MP600r works fine on my Airport network.
Problems may occur if you use WEP encryption.
One of the problems with WEP is that the actual standard relies on a 10 character HEX key for 40bit WEP and a 26 character HEX key for 128bit WEP.
In order to make things easier for people, vendors use certain algorithms to convert simple alphanumeric passwords (or passphrases) into HEX keys, thus enabling people to use simple memorable WEP password rather than lengthy HEX keys.
The problem is that different vendors use different algorithms to generate the HEX key and therefore a ASCII password on an AEBS will be hashed differently on a Netgear client and vice versa.
One thing is a 13 character 128 bit WEP password will be hashed by all vendors in the same way (if you use 40bit WEP then a 5 character password is required).
Though sometimes not even that works and the HEX key must be used regardless.

  • Canon's WiFi Pixma on a shared Win/Mac wireless router

I gave up on trying to print to the Pixma ip4000 connected to my PC thru my iBook after going through both Apple Care and Canon. So I'm pretty suspicious about "seamless" interfacing in mixed network environments after months of struggle.....
Now....the fairly new Canon Pixma ip5200r costs $50 more than the ip5200 and adds 802.11 b/g capabilities (with WPA passphrase protection). Canon tells me I should be able to see and print to the printer wirelessly from both computers.
Does anyone think this will work?
And will print speed be compromised and how much??

Is it normal that both for the Mac and the XP-laptop
the MAC address is the same and is also the portname ?
    For the Printer yes.
    Lets try this methodically.
Have you installed the Printer Driver?
Have you installed the BJ Network Tool?
In your Start > Programs menu you should have the following menu items/folders
    BJ Network Tool
    Canon PIXMA iP5200r
There may be others, but these two are essential.
Note it didn't matter which computer you used to configure the printer to begin with.

  • Canon 860 Series (Pixma) Printer Problems with OSX 10.8 (Mountain Lion) – links to Canon Support Site with Drivers and Software with install tips

After spending several hours sorting out Canon Pixma OSX problems here are my thoughts:
Canon 860 Series (Pixma 868) Printer Problems with OSX 10.8 (Mountain Lion) – links to Canon Support Site with Drivers and Software with install tips
    Problem:
    - New imac and MacBook Pro 2012 (OSX 10.8.2) had a problem using Canon Pixma 868 printer on network and would not scan or print using Canon Pixma software (Pixma MP Navigator 2.1 & Photo Print), which has advanced scanning and photo printing functions.
    - When I connected the canon printer to my imac, OSX 10.8.2 automatically downloaded and installed drivers for Canon 860 series printer. I could then add the new printer (select ‘apple menu’ / ‘system preferences’ / ‘print and scan’ / “+”) and printer would work while connected via USB but could not get to print or scan over network wifi.
    - The original Canon 860 Series CD does not work with 10.8 and the manual / online instructions did not make sense (as based on CD install).
    Solution:
    1) Install Canon Printer Drivers and Software (from official Canon site)
Go to canon support site, review FAQ, then download and install following Pixma 860 Series software & drivers for OSX 10.8 (links see below). The version I downloaded is in brackets but check for updated version. Full instructions are below.
Canon 860 Series Drivers & Software  for OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion:
The base software and drivers needed for using Canon 860 Series on Mac OS X 10.8 (USB) are
    1 Printer Driver
(Canon MX860 series CUPS Printer Driver Ver. 10.67.1.0 (03-Aug-2012))
    2 Scanner Driver
(Canon MX860 series Scanner Driver Ver. 14.11.4a (03-Aug-2012))
    3 Network Tool

Canon Software for using advanced printing and scanning functions (while connected to network)

    Downloads or FAQ
If you have problems installing the software under 10.8, see the FAQ on Canon site. You will need to allow software installs from “unidentified developers by using “Control” Key or by changing your system preferences)
    2) Check Canon Printer and Software Working while connected via USB
Once you have downloaded and installed drivers and software and restarted computer, check that the printer and Canon Pixma software (Pixma MP Navigator 2.1 & Photo Print) are working via USB.  Open the Canon IJ Network Tool App (Applications / Canon Utilities /IJ Network Tool / Canon IJ Network Tool App) and make sure you can see the Canon MX 860 series (xx.xx.xx.xx.xx.xx) and that it shows the correct SSID Wifi settings (under the Canon IJ Network Tool App ‘Setup menu’).  This is normally done as part of the automatic install but worth double checking
    3) Add new network printer using ‘apple menu’ / ‘system preferences’ / ‘print and scan’ / “+”).
After you have checked USB printing turn off printer, unplug the USB cable and shutdown the Canon IJ Network Tool App.
Then turn the printer back on and wait 30s. Then add a new printer using ‘apple menu’ / ‘system preferences’ / ‘print and scan’ / “+”). Once you select “+” (add new printer), wait 10-30s for the Wifi Networked Canon MX 860 Series printer to appear in the new window eg Canon MX 860 series (xx.xx.xx.xx.xx.xx) (Kind: “Canon IJ Network”)
DO NOT ADD THE MX 860 SERIES BONJOUR SCANNER (the Bonjour Scanner is the built-in software, is not needed and often appears first on the add printer list).  The Canon scanner can be accessed used through the MP Nav EX Ver. 2.1.3 software (which has much better functions)
You will now have two Printer Canon MX860 (USB) and Canon MX860 (Wifi / Network). Set the Canon MX860 (Wifi / Network) as default and test print and scan
If the Wifi Networked Canon MX 860 Series printer does not appear, check the printer and make sure that the printer can see the wifi network. On the printer select Menu / Settings / Device Settings / Lan Settings / WLAN Setting List.  It should say WLAN Active, identify the SSID and have an IP address
If the printer can not see the Wifi Network, plug the USB cable back in, then open the Canon IJ Network Tool App (Applications / Canon Utilities /IJ Network Tool / Canon IJ Network Tool App). Make sure you can see the Canon MX 860 series (xx.xx.xx.xx.xx.xx) and that it has your SSID settings (under setup), if it has this info, restart the computer and the printer and try again

Hi, thaks for response, meant to post as a discussion (not question), wanted to save others time if they get the same problem

  • Strange Behaviour while scanning from Canon MP600r with 10.5.7

    Dear all,
I am working with the Canon MP600r (wifi) and scanned without any probs in Tiger. In Leopard I could not scan until 10.5.5. came out. Again everything was fine. Now in 10.5.6 and 10.5.7 I have strange problems: I can use the preview, abut while scanning suddenly it says that there is no communication with the scanner...!!
    Hope for little help
    Thanks
    Bernhard

    Hello Bernhard,
Your issue sounds like there may be a problem with signal strength. I would open the Canon IJ Network Tool (which you can access via the Utility icon from the Printer Queue) and check the signal strength.
If the strength is okay then you could try scanning at a low resolution, such as 75dpi. If you usually scan at a higher resolution, then scanning at a lower resolution will make the scanned file smaller and if that works then you know you still have a network quality issue. What brand and model of wireless router do you have?

    Hi,
So you're connecting your computer to the wireless, then putting a cable from the computer to an other device, if I'm understanding correctly.
Did you see if both devices generate IP address's?
I'm sure if you call Canon, they will be able to help you.
    Bonne chance.
