Canon 7d wireless transfer

Can Canon 7D EOS transfer files wirelessly?  if yes, how?

Actually the best way is with a Canon WFT-E5/E5A. This fits onto the camera, instead of the BG-E7 battery grip. It has vertical controls, same as the grip.
All of Canon's more professional oriented cameras use one or another of the WFT modules. They aren't cheap, but have much greater range and faster file transfer rate than the cameras with built in WiFi, or the EyeFi cards do.  The WFT has a range of approx. 300 or 400 feet. That's approx. 10X the distance of the built-in WiFi. I don't know the exact capability of the EyeFi cards... it's probably even less.
The WFT can be used to control the camera remotely or to link one or more cameras together with a master camera, too.

  • Canon MX340 wireless printer no longer connecting over wireless and coming up with "a communications error has occured"

I have a Canon MX340 wireless printer and have only recently started having trouble printing over the wireless connection. No settings have changed on my MacBook Pro, the printer, the router or the wifi connection and it is strange how it has just stopped working. I have tried things like restarting the laptop and removing the printer from the laptop and re-adding it. It sometimes seems to work for maybe one print but then it goes back to saying "a communications error has occured", when I try to print again.
Any help would be great. Thanks

I had the same MX340 problem.  My printer was working fine over WiFi connection to my Airport Extreme for years and then suddenly, about a month ago, it stopped printing after the first print job.  I can print once and then I have to power-cycle the printer to get it to print another time and then I have to repeat the power-cycle.
The printer seems to be "forgotten" by the network or lose its connection after the first print job.
On my MacBookPro 10.6.8 I get the error code 300...yadayadayad... On my iMac 10.5.8 it just says :communications error".
HERE IS THE FIX - I got it off this link - http://www.techsurvivors.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=24681
You have to connect to the MX340 using the printer cable that came with the printer (or any USB printer cable) and set up a hardwired USB printer queue.  Then print a couple of print jobs - I use TextEdit and type in "1234".  Then try the same thing but select your WiFi print queue - I just type another line on the same sheet of paper with TextEdit.
The WiFi connection should work again.  I did this a few more times and then disconnected the USB cable and now it continues to work without the USB print queue being used.  I can also print to the WiFi queue with my iMac.
If you still have problems I suggest you set up the printer again on the WiFi router using the "print cable connection" method.  Here's a link to a webpage someone kindly provided instructions for the process:

  • How do I connect my HP 7 1800 (Mesquite) Tablet to my Canon MP495 wireless printer?

I have a new HP 7 1800 tablet and want to print to my Canon MP495 wireless printer.  I already have other
PC's and laptops using the wireless printing, but don't know how to get my Tablet set up for the wireless printing.
Should I direct connect from my printer to the tablet to make the initial set up? Or, is there an app I'm not finding on the Canon site for this purpose?   I'd appreciate any help.

    Hi JAC63!
Welcome to the Canon Forums! If your tablet is an Android device, you should be able to find the app by going to  http://bit.ly/CanonMobileApps
That's where we keep all of our mobile apps. Depending on your needs and printer model will determine the app  you'll download! If you have other questions, just let us know!

  • Wireless transfer speed is hopeless!

    Hi,
New BT customer here, after being with aol for nearly 10 years I thought it was time for a change. Why-o-why?
I used to have a netgear 834g router which worked fine, signal would drop a touch upstairs and broadband 8mb with aol, but they could not offer me an all-in package, Wireless transfer speed of 54mbps with a netgear wv111v2 g adapter.
So I decided to change to BT(07/06/2010) to have it all under one roof, Total Broadband they call it, Total **** I call it.
Since the changeover my wireless transfer speed upstairs will be lucky to achieve 24mbps and the signal is shocking ranges from low to can't be bothered. So, I bought a new Belkin 'N' F5D8053v6 adapter to achieve best range and speed. No change in fact, it is worse than the old adapter, Dodgy adapter maybe? No, because I then bought the singing n' dancing Netgear N 300 mbps Wn111v2 adapter and it is still rubbish 24mbps max.
I am not a computer nerd, but I can set up a network after going through all this before, having two kids who are computer nuts sees to that.
I have changed/reinstalled everything, changed the channels; WEP, WPA-Sk; refitted old adapter, sat on top the BT hub; scoured forums, all to no avail the signal and transfer rate is still the same.
Off to India it was, to have the mis-fortune of speaking to one of the most rude, abrasive customer service personel. They would not listen to what I told them, accused me of entering the wrong password; ignored me on the phone whilst talking to someone else, done some checks remotely whilst I was still on line and said the speed was the best I could achieve, after an endless amount of time on the phone, It was the brick wall with open doorway between me and the hub 5 yards away causing the drop. All non believable.
Well I have just come off the phone and it's still the same, I have had to change the channels 5 times since to try and get a constant signal.
The BT hub say tranfer rate of 130mbps when I only have 24mbps according to my adapter, so who is lying?
My line is fine, I live less than 2 miles form exchange and if I connect through ethernet I get 6.5mb, wireless it drops to 2.5mb upload 0.4mb.
Please BT come and take this useless equipment away and I will go back to aol's basic kit. I won't hold it against you, but it is far superior in every way.

herbie9 your own post said that and I quote "I used to have a netgear 834g router which worked fine, signal would drop a touch upstairs and broadband 8mb with aol, but they could not offer me an all-in package, Wireless transfer speed of 54mbps with a netgear wv111v2 g adapter." Like Sweeney47 says use that and just configure it for BT access. Plenty of links in here to help with that. The only other answer for you will be to use a powerline adpater pair to another WAP upstairs and that will give you the signal downstairs and up. should be able to pick up a cheap WAP for under £20 and the powerline adpaters vary but I have seen them for £30 and up. Quality counts on the powerline though. Must be an enviromental issue regards wireless signal.

With supervised ipads, what is the best way to transfer photos and videos to the PC? Wireless transfer is not an option in our circumstances.

There are only two ways of transfering things on the iPad.
      - via WiFi
      - via usb cable
From what I have read, you need to connect to iTunes on the supervising PC.

I called Canon support. Did email support, too. Both suggested uninstall/reinstall, which was no help. Other than that they had no clue. Phone support thought it might be blocked by Norton Security Suite. I turned off the firewall and AV protection and Image Transfer Utility (ITU) still won't start. Still looking. Will post back here if I find a solution.

  • HT4356 app for canon mx870 wireless printer to convert to air printer

Is there an app to enable a Canon MX870 Wireless Printer to be used as an Airprinter for IPad2

    Val85-
I suggest you look for a Canon App at the iTunes App store.  It will have limitations, but should get you printing.
There are other printing Apps with more features such as Print n Share or PrintCentral, but they can only be accessed from within other Apps that have the "Open In" option.  These include their own mail, browser, photo and text programs.  In other words, they do not provide true AirPrint capability.
Depending on your situation, a better option may be to run a program on your computer that will share its printer as AirPrint over WiFi.  Programs such as Printopia and FingerPrint can do that, and are reported to work well.  Your computer must be on and awake any time you want to print.  <Printopia for Macintosh> <FingerPrint for PC and Mac>

  • Irritated with the Canon 6D wireless Capabilities.

Maybe I was confused on what the full capabilities of the Canon 6D's wireless capabilities or maybe I am missing something. After numerous attempts and way too much time in finally getting my 6D connected to my laptop through the EOS Utility I was rather disappointed.
This is what I thought I was going to be able to do:  Take a picture with my 6D and then preview the picture and select something in the preview menu to transfer the picture to the laptop.  If this is not possible, this is something that needs to be fixed in the software of the EOS Utility and in the firmware.  If this is possible, please someone tell me what am I missing.
When I click on "Starts to download images" within the EOS Utility, I get a "there are no images in the camera or memory card that match download conditions" error.  (Which makes me think that selecting the pictures and transferring them from the camera is possible but I cannot seem to find the function to make it work)
I really do love the 6D because I was holding off until Canon finally produced a body with built in GPS and wireless capabilities.  I know that it is going to be impossible to build a perfect camera under the cost of a car but I think this would be a simple fix to the software and firmware.  Who knows, maybe a fix to this user is in order also.
    Other Problems That was annoying:
    -  The manual to set up the wireless connection (EOS 6D (WG) Wi-Fi Function Instruction Manual) was not intuitive nor any type of logical flow.  Why should I have to jump from section to section to do something?
    -  The manual failed to mention that I had to connect to the camera from the computer and not the other way around.  (very annoying since I was expecting the pairing software to detect the connection automatically)
    - The EOS Utility manual needs to be separated by the model of the camera.  The attempt of making a single manual for all the models is a failure.  It was so confusing that after awhile in trying figuring out what portion applied to the 6D and what didn't that I had to print it out and re-edit the manual so it had only the parts that pertained to me.
I would greatly appreciate any help and shared frustrations with this.

If you’re using EOS Utility Wirelessly then the photos will be stored on your computer already (you may be able to do both, as you can when tethered, but I haven’t tried to make sure).  So that may be why you get the error to transfer it.
Personally I found the EOS Utility to be useless when connected wirelessly.  It is FAR too slow for my workflow.  It just wasn’t worth the small advantage of not using a tether.  However, the EOS Remote app for my phone/tablet is quite useful.  It’s still very “beta”, but the preview images transfer much faster (the RAW images are still stored on the camera).
Other than that, I feel your frustration.  But you have to remember, this is one of the introductory WiFi cameras from Canon.  The technology is still young, and it’s very rough around the edges.  I’m glad my camera has it, but I went into it viewing it as a nice perk as opposed to a major feature.  I really didn’t expect much from it.

  • I'm trying to share a new Canon printer wirelessly between my HP laptop and my iMac.  I've successfully printed from both computers, but, I get errors trying to print on one after I've printed on the other.  Any ideas on how to get them to both to print?

I installed a new Canon printer several months ago that I was told by the salesman could be shared between my iMAC and HP laptop.  I have successfully used the printer wirelessly from both computers, however, it gets hung up switching between the two and I'm not sure what to do to get it to be consistent.  Any ideas?

You didn't state how it's connected to each computer, if it's connected through your router then it should work. If it doesn't then you need to contact Canon and ask for assistance.

  • Can't connect Canon MP560 wirelessly using Airport Extreme with MacBook Pro

My Canon MP560 is failing to connect to the access point.  It recognizes the access point/network I would like to connect to but when I enter in my password it fails to connect and tells me to check access point settings.  I used this exact same printer but different router in my old house and everything worked well!  I'm thinking this is a Mac thing that I can't seem to figure out.  I have the lastest Canon driver updates for Mac and use 10.6.8 software on my Macbook Pro.
This is how the printer instructs me on the panel.
    a. Select Wireless LAN setup
    b. Select Easy Settings
    c. Select Access Point
    d. Enter Password
    e. Fails to connect..........

    Hi Tesserax,
i have the same issue as mountie30 with the MP560 but it's not working
    i have a airport express.
    i was following your instructions:
''To get to this feature within the AirPort Utility, go to the utility's menu bar and first choose Base Station, and then, Add Wireless Clients...''
the problem is, base station is in light gray and i can't click on it.
i re-plugged my printer into my imac so it detects it again. (it still says printer offline in settings)
i have no clue what to do.

  • Wireless transfer of photos from camera to Macbook Pro (help)

Im sorry if this might not be the correct place to ask about it but Im going to give it a try.
I know this can be done because professionals are doing it across the globe already.
I just purchased a Canon 50D along with a WFT-E3A wireless transmitter. I shoot professional Lacrosse in Chicago and for the first time will be trying out the possibility of sending photos straight from my camera to my new Macbook Pro. If this works then my next purchase is going to be the WFT-E2 and a Canon 1D MK III to complete the process.
The main idea is that I will be doing shooting all over the arena and just sending them back to my laptop and having my assistant taking care of post processing of them and then uploading to a website.
But now comes the fun part.
Because this is one step above me setting up a normal wireless network like I have at home for me to get onto the internet. I don't really know where to start on setting up a specific network and configuring it to just have the camera and computer "talk" to each other.
My thoughts are that I would like to have one specific network setup for my laptop at the games when shooting. And then just bring it back home and switch it back over to the normal network I have set up to get my internet wirelessly.
I have been talking with several Genius people here in Madison and was told there are two types of networks to set up, Ad Hoc and Infrastructure.
I have been told to set it up an infrastructure network because this is going to give me widest range for me to be further away from my computer.
The question that is puzzling most of the Genius people and myself is this. Should I have one or several base stations placed somewhere in the arena between me and the computer helping me out so I don't lose signal between the two devices?
If that is the case how would I set up the base station in order to relay or transmit the signal from my laptop to my camera?
After I get this portion all set up I think it isn't going to be an issue of getting the camera to talk with my laptop. But that is another issue that I will need to pose to other photographers or maybe a canon rep directly.
    Ok Im all ears now!
    Thanks,
    Ross

There is more than one date that can be associated with an image, and I think you're running into different programs displaying different dates. This is not a comprehensive list but:
Capture date: Date and time the photo was recorded by the camera clock, stored in EXIF camera data.
Created date: Date and time the photo was first saved to disk by photo software on a computer
Modified date: Date and time the edited photo was last saved to disk by photo software on a computer
Archived date: I'm not really sure but I see this in detailed photo information too.
Furthermore, these dates can be stored in various additional date fields in other IPTC metadata sections, and various software might not write or read them in the same ways as other software.
But what I think is going on in your case is that the iPhoto Info panel is displaying the Capture Date from the camera recorded EXIF data, but what you see in the Finder are the Created and Modified dates.
If I'm right, then LexSchellings' column suggestion may not work because all you would get is the File Created date, not the camera recorded Capture Date. I do not know of a way to display camera EXIF capture date in the Finder. Generally, organizing photos using that data is done using a photo management app like iPhoto, Picasa, Apple Aperture, Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Bridge, Media Pro, etc., not on the desktop.
If you were able to view the Capture Date in Windows Explorer, then that's an advantage that Windows Explorer (the desktop) had over the Finder. I've seen other cases where the Finder couldn't do something Windows Explorer could, so I wouldn't be surprised.
As far as the duplicates, I don't really know but I did a search at macupdate.com and you might want to check some of these utilities that can help resolve duplicates.
    MacUpdate search on "duplicate photo"
macupdate.com is a great place to look for Mac software if you didn't find it in the Mac App Store.

  • Canon Log and Transfer problem

    Hello all,
I'm trying to upload some HD files from my Canon HF20 on the latest edition of FCP to my iMac 10.58 and running into a problem.
FCP recognizes the video captured on the internal memory. However, it does not recognize the video captured on the SD card in the camera.
    Any ideas?

Well, I'm connected to my iMac using a USB. (iMac is running version 10.58 of Leopard). I'm using the latest version of FCP 7.0.2
I can log and transfer files "taped" to the internal memory of my HF20. Files show up fine and import fine.
However, the files that are on the SD card in the camera don't show up in the Log and transfer. ( I put the SD card on a card reader and still no luck.)
I put the card back into the camera and hit the "Add volume" on the top left of the log and transfer and I can see my Canon drive and the other drive which is called "No Name" (I'm assuming simply because I haven't named it anything) I'm also assuming the No Name Drive is the SD card. However, I may be wrong. All the files are grayed out on this drive.
Not sure what else I need to add to give you more info. Let me know if what other info needed and I'll post it.
    Thanks again!

  • HOW TO MAKE CANON MP480 WIRELESS

is there a way to make my canon mp480 printer wireless through my wirless router, also using an apple macbook?

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We're all users here.
Some wireless routers have USB ports specifically intended to share peripherals such as printers and external hard drives. Check your wireless router manual.
Many new printers with built-in WiFi are quite inexpensive, especially compared to the cost of a set of ink cartridges! Canon Direct also sells refurbished recent printers from their website, often at substantial discounts. I recently purchased a refurbished MG5320 for $50. It may be time to invest in a new printer.
And this archived discussion from 2009 might help, if you're using an Apple Extreme base station:

  • WRT610N - slow wireless transfer betwen 2 Macs

I have 2 MacBook Pros running OS X 10.5.6, both connected on 5Ghz channel 36, 270 Mbps transmit rate, both Macs in the same room as the WRT610N.  When transferring files wirelessly between the Macs using AFP file sharing, it maxes out around 2.3 MBytes/s, which is about 19 Mbps, obviously nowhere near the 270 Mbps max link speed.  If I connect the 2 Macs using Ethernet, I can get 60-80MBytes/s transfer over AFP.
Is there some setting in the WRT610N config that needs to be modified to improve 802.11n transfer speeds?

pnikolsky, appreciate your response.  you're doing a transfer between a wireless client and a device connected directly to the router via gigabit ethernet.  i would assume that would be faster than transfers between 2 wireless clients.  however even 6 MByte/s seems slow for your setup.   i would expect your setup to get 12-16 MByte/s.
also, based on 8 years of using various wireless routers (dlink, netgear, linksys), i know that changing beacon interval, dtim, thresholds, etc. has no major effect on transfer speeds.  you really only need to play with those settings if you're having connection problems to the router itself, which i'm not fortunately.
    thanks for responding anyways.
