Canon as1000 won't focus to infinity

the camera won't focus to infinity like it did when it was new. i'm not sure if the warranty has run out, but i'm ready to put it in the circular file. i have tried the normal and infinity settings and the camera does not focus, even though the square on the lcd display turns green.
p.s. - love my rebel t3 and more so since i found an adapter so i can use my fd lenses. love having a 320 (200) 2.8.
cheers from l.a.

Solution for anyone else with the same problem...
On page 2 of
http://www.usa.canon.com/CUSA/assets/app/pdf/cloud/GCP_Register_the_Printer_to_GCP.pdf
it says:
[Google Cloud Print] This function is available only when IPv4 is selected for TCP/IP settings on Other settings from LAN settings. For instructions about displaying Other settings on the operation panel, refer to the on-screen manual (user's guide) that comes with the printer.
To solve my problem, I toggled through the printer's touch sensitive display menu: LAN Settings--->Other settings--->TCP/IP settings--->IPv4 and selected Automatic to set up. Thereafter, printer could connect to internet.

  • Canon as1000 vs Sony s980

I am needing a new camera, and am making my first foray into digital, and have narrowed my picks down to these two: the Canon AS1000 or the Sony S980. Does anyone have any opinions?
My needs for a camera are primarily this:
-Able to take quality pictures during the day and night, both indoor and outdoor (like, Disneyland at night, block party during the day).
    -Limited lag time on flash.
-I will be making 8x10's or bigger on about 1-3% of all pictures I take.
    -Red-eye reducer/eliminator.
-Auto-focus, or a function that pretty much allows me to point and shoot, and let the camera do all the thinking.
Essentially, I really want a digital camera that is going to act as simple yet be as durable as my trusty 35mm camera I am wanting to retire. It needs to be an everyday, all-purpose camera.
I have done some research on both of the cameras, and have questions or see drawbacks on each, but I guess I can save that part of the conversation for later, if this thread gains momentum.
    Thanks for looking.

OK< so I might be able to score a good deal on a Sony W230. DOes anyone have any input on this camera, based upon my needs for a camera as stated above?

  • Canon 6D will not focus or flash in "Live View" mode.

My Canon 6D will not focus or flash in "Live View" mode.  I have a canon 430ex II  and a E-ttl flash connected with a sync cord for E-ttl function.  The camera does simulate shutter action, but no photo is taken.  How can I over-come this problem.
Once in a while, after trying to take several photos it will start working, but usually not.

    Hi Shadowcat!
    Thanks for posting.
It sounds like the AF Method is set to Quick Mode.  When the camera is set for Live View Shooting, there are different AF Methods that can be set.  In Quick Mode, the camera uses its dedicated AF sensor to focus when you press the shutter button down halfway.
The image on the LCD will be interrupted while the camera tries to focus because the shutter closes and the mirror drops back over the image sensor.  This may look as though the camera is taking a picture, but it is not, it is only focusing.  No flash is fired during this process either.  Continue to hold the shutter button halfway until focus is achieved, at which point the image will return to the LCD.  Then you can press the shutter button the rest of the way down to take the picture.  The flash will fire and an image will be recorded.

  • My Camara won't focus how do I fix it

My iPhone camera won't focus how do I fix it?

When you are going to take a picture, tap the object that you want to take a picture of on the screen. If this does not work, wipe your screen and camera.

I just looked at the Canon site and it has Mavericks drivers.

  • New photos won't focus, come out blurry

I've had my 3GS for about a year and half. I've always been able to take nice photos of documents (receipts etc.) with it for my records. In the past couple of weeks I've noticed that the camera won't focus well on document text under any lighting or angle. The lens looks clean. Could this be a problem with a recent software update? Or maybe a hardware problem since the phone has some mileage on it? Thoughts?
    Thanks!

If resetting did not help, a restore "as new iphone" would be the next step. First, try to restore without using the backup after the restore process. If you can use the camera again after that, try to restore again, this time using the latest backup to get back your app data and settings.
If the camera problem comes back, your backup data contain the error and you'll have to restore again "as new iphone" without the backup, like you did in step one.

  • 3gs won't focus in low light conditions

Unless I am in 100% daylight my camera won't focus where I tap. In fact only macro shots will focus.
Sometimes I see the camera focus when switching between video and camera mode but only briefly and then it goes back to macro mode. On occasion restarting the phone a few times will fix it but it mostly won't focus.
Is this just my phone or do other people have this issue?

Not sure how the iPhone camera does it's autofocus..many cameras use an infrared ranger. If the infra red led emmitter is sheilded it can't function and thus no auto focus. If this is how the iPhone camera works, have you sheilded any infra red sensors, badly fitting case, bad screen protector ?

  • My iPhone 6  won't focus

i have tapped it and restarted but it still won't focus. Anyone else have this problem and if so, how did it get fixed?

    Hello, Hstone579.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that you are having an issue with images out of focus on the camera.  Here is a troubleshooting article that I would recommend going through.

  • My 50mm lens won't focus correctly, either in AF or Manual mode, any suggestions?

My low end f1.8 50mm Canon lens doesn't focus correctly.  It has never been banged or dropped and appears in focus on the viewfinder but when I look closely the images are not sharp.  It's the only lens that exhibits this problem and shows up on both the 60D and the 450D (Tsi).  Is there an adjustment anywhere to correct this?

    Solidventur,
I recommend that you clean the contacts on the lens using a soft microfiber cleaning cloth.  Also, try toggling the focusing mode switch between MF and AF a few times.  If the images are still out of focus on multiple cameras with only your EF 50mm f/1.8 II lens attached, but other lenses focus properly, then your EF 50mm f/1.8 II lens will need to be serviced.
To start the process of getting your lens serviced, you will need to complete a service request on our website.  To help, I have provided a direct link to the correct page on our website below:

  • The glass on my iPhone 5 is missing and now my camera won't focus does it have anything to do with the glass missing?!

The glass on my iPhone 5 is missing and now my camera won't focus does it have anything to do with the glass missing?! Would buying a iPhone extension lens like the ones you just clip on the phone help?

Wow seems like some physical damage to the iPhone whether this is a manufacturing defect or misuse it would need to be evaluated and determined at either an Apple Store or Service provider. And yes this is most likely causing the camera not to focus.

  • Canon ip6600D Won't Print

Brand new Canon ip6600D won't print through iPhoto, specifically print job tries to print but after approx. 10 seconds of trying it defaults to "job stopped." Prints fine through Web browser and all other apps. Are there hidden iPhoto printing prefs somewhere that can be deleted? Previously had a Canon i990 printer and never had a problem with it. Thanks for any suggestions.
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

    Aaron:
All I can think of is to remove the Canon print drivers and then reinstall them. You might go to Canon's site to see if there is a newer driver than what you've got. Also run Disk Utility and repair disk permissions. You might try that first.
If neither help I would run OnyX and clean out both the user and system caches. Your first restart afterward will be slower but will get back to normal on subsequent restarts.

  • Canon iP8500 won't print OSX 10.6.3 apps

My Canon iP8500 won't print OSX 10.6.3 apps, it causes them to crash. It crashes Safari, Mail, Text Edit. Other apps (Excel, Word) print fine. I've updates to the new driver (10.30.3.0) to no avail. Any suggestions?

Try opening Disk Utility, selecting the OS X partition and then pressing Repair Disk Permissions.
You could also try opening Print & Fax, moving your mouse over the Printers list, and while holding down the Control key, click your mouse. This will make the Reset printing system pop-up appear. Select this and restart your Mac. This action will delete your printer queues but not your printer driver. So you will just need to open Print & Fax again and add the iP8500.

  • L920 Pro Cam Manual Focus to Infinity problem

I am loving the Pro Cam, but I recently found a problem with the manual focus...when I use manual and set it all the way up to infinity distance, really far away objects are actually out of focus.  The shot actually seems to focus on subjects ~10 feet in front, and happens with both image and video capture.  Is this intentional, or actually a glitch?
In the image samples, the first one is a snapshot of a video taken with manual focus at infinity.  Notice it seems to be focused on the crowd's heads two or three rows in front instead of the whales.  The second is a picture taken with auto focus.

    Basic troubleshooting
    reset
    restore with backup
    then as new
as required if still issues then it is possibly a hardware fault  suggest you take iPhone to an Apple Store genius bar
